AP News, I'm Ben Tonks. The Supreme Court's rule of former presidents have brought immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts, but not unofficial or private actions. Sakamagane reports the ruling extends the delay in the federal election's subversion case against former President Trump. The historic 6-3 ruling underlines what Justice Brett Kavanaugh said during April's arguments. The president is subject to prosecution for all personal acts, just like every other American judge, but rather than decide how that applies to the Justice Department's case over Trump's efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss, the High Court wants a lower court to sort it out. That all but ends chances Trump could be tried before the November election. He calls it a big win for our Constitution and democracy. Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who joined the other two liberals in dissenting, says the ruling makes a mockery of the principle that "no man is above the law." Sakamagane, Washington. Steve Bannon surrendered at a federal prison in Connecticut today to begin a four-month sentence on contempt of Congress charges for defying a subpoena in the investigation into the U.S. Capitol attack. House Republicans have filed a lawsuit against Attorney General Merrick Garland seeking the audio recording of President Biden's interview with a special counsel in his classified documents case. Overseas, the Israeli Army's ordered a mass evacuation of Palestinians from much of God's second largest city, Khan Yunus. The AP's Joe Fetterman reports that signals a likely new assault. Israel spent several months inside Khan Yunus battling Hamas before withdrawing earlier this year. The latest order is a sign that Hamas has managed to regroup, and we could soon see Israeli forces moving back into Khan Yunus, and a resumption of heavy fighting. And victims of Hamas' October 7 attack are suing Iran, Syria, and North Korea for supporting it. This is AP News. In business news, Boeing's announced plans to acquire a key supplier, Spirit Arrow Systems, for $4.7 billion, reversing a strategy of outsourcing key work on its passenger planes. It says the move will improve plane quality and safety. Demi and Troisi has to start the week on Wall Street in the AP markets report. Stocks drifted to a mixed-close Monday, and bond yields jumped as elections drive swings in financial markets worldwide. The S&P 500 rose 0.3%, even as most of the stocks in the index fell. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 0.1%, and the NASDAQ composite rose 0.8%. Some of the world's strongest action was in Paris, where stocks jumped after election results bolstered financial markets' hopes for a gridlocked government that won't drive up its debt. The week's highlight for economic reports will likely arrive on Friday, when the U.S. government will say how many workers got hired to payrolls during June. Demi and Troisi, New York.
