AP News. I'm Ed Donahue. The Supreme Court's six conservative justices handed Donald Trump a major victory in his immunity case. The AP Sager McGonnie reports the three liberals ripped their decision. Sonia Sotomayor shook her head, gritted her teeth, and strongly pronounced each word. Reading her dissent allowed from the bench, she called the decision utterly indefensible, that effectively creates a law-free zone around the president, whom she says is now a king above the law. In a dissent joined by Elena Kagan and Kintanji Brown Jackson, Sotomayor wrote, "ironic, isn't it? The man in charge of enforcing the laws can now just break them." Chief Justice John Roberts says the ruling does not put presidents above the law, accusing the three liberals of fear-mongering. Sager McGonnie, Washington. Donald Trump posted on his social media network shortly after the decision was released, big win for our Constitution and Democracy. Proud to be an American. The AP's Jowie Capilletti reports some names are being floated around by Democrats after President Biden's debate performance Thursday night, including Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Democrats, who have become uneasy about Biden's reelection campaign, have increasingly mentioned Whitmer as a potential alternative if Biden were to drop out. The speculation comes as Whitmer is set to release her new book, True Gretch. Whitmer said multiple times that she has not made a decision yet on her political future, but the memoir is being looked at as something that a future presidential candidate might release. The Israeli army ordered a mass evacuation of Palestinians from much of Gaza's second largest city, Khan Yunus. A judge in Florida released the transcripts of a 2006 grand jury investigation that looked into sex trafficking and rape allegations against wealthy and infamous financier Jeffrey Epstein. The Dow finished up 50 points. This is AP News. A dangerous and extremely powerful hurricane barrel made landfall on the Caribbean island of Kariuku. NBC radio and St. Vincent and the Grenadine says it received reports of roofs being torn off churches and schools. Michael Brennan is at the National Hurricane Center. There are several areas that are most threatened now with both those devastating category four winds as well as the storm surge of six to nine feet above normal tide levels, especially near into the north, even up towards St. Vincent where we can see, you know, life-threatening storm surge. University of Florida, tropical weather expert Brian McNoldi says. This is unprecedented. I know that word sometimes gets used a little freely, but there's never been a category for hurricane in the Atlantic during June. So that's pretty amazing. Grenada officials had to evacuate patients to a lower floor after a hospital roof was damaged. I'm Ed Donahue, AP News.
