AP News I'm Ed Donahue former president Donald Trump says it's a big win for the Constitution and for democracy the courts conservative majority ruled former presidents have absolute immunity from prosecution for official acts not unofficial acts. It means Trump's 2020 election interference trial will not happen before the November election. Here's the AP's Sankar Magani. Even though the High Court did not dismiss the indictment as he'd wanted the ruling is still a major win for Trump. His legal strategies focused on delaying the Washington case until after the election. The timing matters because if Trump wins the White House again he could appoint an attorney general who would try to dismiss this and other federal cases. Or Trump could potentially pardon himself. Outside the court Gary Roush from Maryland called the ruling outrageous. Because of their intentional delay delaying it to the very last second I mean they added this date of the court calendar that the American people will go to the polls not knowing the details and not knowing that Trump was an insurrectionist that he had essentially attempted a soft coup and now he's a major candidate for president. In her dissent Justice Sonia Sotomayor said the Supreme Court allowed a president to become a king above the law in its ruling. The Supreme Court put a hold on efforts in Texas and Florida to limit how Facebook, TikTok and other social media platforms regulate content posted by users. The justices also ruled in favor of a truck stop in North Dakota that wants to sue over a regulation on debit card swipe fees that a federal appeals court upheld 10 years ago. A jury in Massachusetts in the murder trial of Karen Reed sent a note to the judge. To continue to deliberate would be futile and only serve to force us to compromise these deeply held beliefs. And this trial was declared. Reed was accused of running down her police officer boyfriend, letting him die. This is AP News. France appears to be leaning right. The far right national rally leapt into a strong lead on Sunday in France's first round of legislative elections. Polling agencies have projected bringing the party closer to being able to form a government in round two and dealing a major slap to centrist president Emmanuel Macron. Prime Minister Gabriel Attal says the extreme right is out of the doors of power. He's twice described national rally policy pledges as disastrous. And that in the second round ballot, no one should vote for the national rally. France does not deserve that, Attal says. I'm Charles D'Loudesma. A court in Pakistan sentenced a Christian man to death for sharing what it said was hateful content against Muslims on social media. After one of the worst mob attacks on Christians, Ishaan Sean was accused of reposting the defaced pages of the Koran on his TikTok account. account. I'm Ed Donahue, AP News.
