AP News, I'm Ed Donahue, the Supreme Court rules former presidents have some immunity from prosecution. It means it's highly unlikely Donald Trump could face trial before the November election and delaying his Washington criminal case on charges he plotted to overturn his 2020 presidential election loss. More from the AP's Jackie Quinn. Stephen Mulroy is the district attorney for Shelby County, Tennessee, an elected Democrat. He's previously served as a law professor and federal prosecutor. I was surprised how broad that immunity ended up being. He says the Supreme Court ruling on Donald Trump's immunity definitely means some of the charges for plotting to overturn the 2020 election will be thrown out. But more significant, DA Mulroy says evidence that was collected while Trump was acting in an official capacity cannot be used for the remaining charges. But definitely tying a prosecutor's hand. In her dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor says the decision makes a mockery of the idea no man is above the law. I'm Jackie Quinn. An ally of Donald Trump's Steve Bannon surrendered to authorities in Connecticut and reported to prison. Bannon was sentenced to four months on contempt charges for defying a subpoena in the Capitol riot investigation. The Israeli army ordered a mass evacuation of Palestinians from much of Khan Yunus in Gaza. The AP's Joseph Fetterman reports it could mean a new ground assault. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists that Israel is close to dismantling Hamas as an organized fighting force. But he does say that operations will continue against what he calls remnants of the Islamic militant group. This trial has been declared in the trial of a Massachusetts woman accused of killing her police officer boyfriend. This is AP News. A woman from China was arrested in Vermont accused of trying to smuggle eastern box turtles in violation of the endangered species act into Canada by kayak according to border patrol agents. One Yang was arrested Friday at a Canaan Airbnb as she was about to get into that inflatable kayak with a duffel bag full of turtles wrapped in socks according to an agents affidavit, which also states a man believed to be her husband and another person had started to paddle their own inflatable from the Canadian side of the lake toward the US. The affidavit also says Lake Wallace is a known spot for human and narcotics smuggling. I'm Julie Walker. The British Army says three runaway horses bolted through the streets of central London after one was spooked by a bus and two others tossed their riders. One horse had minor injuries but didn't require treatment and neither soldier was injured. I'm Ed Donahue, AP News.
