AP News. I'm Ed Donohue. The Supreme Court is sending Donald Trump's immunity case back to a lower court. The AP Sager McGonny reports it all but ends the chances he could be tried before the November election. The justices for the first time have said former presidents do have some immunity from criminal prosecution, but they want a lower court to decide how that applies to charges alleging Trump plotted to overturn his 2020 election laws. That means more delays before Trump could face trial. It was a 6-3 ruling with Chief Justice John Roberts writing the majority opinion for the other five conservatives. Sonia Sotomayor wrote for the three liberals that the decision granting former president's criminal immunity mocks the principle that no man is above the law. The Supreme Court kept a hold on efforts in Texas and Florida to limit how Facebook, TikTok, X, YouTube and other social media platforms regulate content posted by their users. The justices also ruled in favor of a truck stop in North Dakota that wants to sue over regulation on debit card swipe fees that the federal appeals court in Washington upheld 10 years ago. France's fiercely anti-immigration national party and opponents of the far right party are scrambling to capitalize on a first round of voting in high stakes surprise legislative elections. The official results showed round one of the elections the previous day produced two likely scenarios in what promises to be a torrid last week of campaigning. Israel released the director of Gaza's main hospital after holding him for seven months without charge or trial over allegations. The facility had been used as a Hamas command center. He said he and other detainees released were held under harsh conditions and tortured. This is AP news. Five people were shot three have died near the campus of the University of Cincinnati. Two people were taken into custody, including one of the wounded. Local news reports say all five victims were men. Police say they recovered some firearms from the scene, but there were no further details immediately available. Earlier, the University of Cincinnati's Public Safety Department posted on X that police were responding to an emergency shortly before three in the morning.
