Ify News, I'm Ben Thomas. President Biden and former President Trump returned to the campaign trail a day after their debate. At Donahue has a report. In Raleigh, North Carolina, the president admitted he wasn't at his best. "I know I'm not a young man, it's stately obvious." But he added, "When you get knocked down, you get back up." "I don't walk as easy as I used to, I don't speak as smooth as I used to. But I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth." In Chesapeake, Virginia, Donald Trump told supporters they have a chance to tell Joe Biden, "You're fired! Get out of here!" Trump said he had a big victory in the debate and, for his opponent, no amount of rest would help. "Joe Biden's problem is not his age, it's not his anything really, it's got no problem other than it's his competence, he's grossly incompetent." After the debate, polls show the two man's favorability ratings remain largely unchanged. I'm Ed Donahue. Attorney General Merrick Garland says he's disappointed the Supreme Court has made it harder to charge capital riot defendants with obstruction. Jackie Quinn explains. The U.S. Supreme Court justices ruled 6-3. The charge of obstructing an official proceeding must include proof that the accused tried to tamper with documents, as it relates to some of the capital rioters. Only a small group of those charged fall into that category. I'm Jackie Quinn. The Supreme Court also ruled that cities can enforce bans on homeless people sleeping outdoors. The Texas Supreme Court has upheld the state's ban on gender affirming medical care for transgender youths. The Iowa Supreme Court has ruled the state's strict abortion law is legal, telling a lower court to lift a temporary block on it, the law bans most abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy. And inflation pressures continue to ease, consumer prices up 2.6% over May of last year. This is AP News. Summers here, so we've got some water safety tips from Palm Beach County Ocean Rescue's Daniel Barnacle. Again, that's Daniel Barnacle with Palm Beach County Ocean Rescue. I'm Ben Thomas, AP News.
