WITS chats The Acolyte | Season 1 Episode 5
[Music] Welcome to a special Sunday edition of Wallowing in the Shallows, the podcast that squished the perilous drop-off of a deep dive into television and movies. We are academic nerds aspiring to become TV and movie geeks. There are no spoiler guards in the shallows, so listen at your own risk. This week, join us for a wallow in the Acolyte, Season 1. [Music] Hey, hello peeps. Welcome to Wallowing in the Shallows, it's a story. And this is Rebecca, and today we are talking about the Acolyte, Season 1, Episode 5, Night. I'm so proud to report that here was a prediction that you and I both had spot-on. [Laughter] Yeah, I just laughed when I pulled it up, and I'm like, "Oh, yeah, we were right about that one." Yes, yes, we got that one, we got that one. ♪ And I was right about something else ♪ You totally were, you get all the credit for pretty much almost after we met him. Pretty much right after we met him, you made the call about the smiley helmet guys, identity. And, Hymer, you were 100% correct. You called it way before it became like, "Oh my gosh, they're really laying it on thick." This previous episode, you called it when he first appeared, so well done. In the potion shop. Yes. [Laughter] I'll tell you, the Jedi took some real Ls, this episode. Holy cow, did they ever drop in like flies. Yeah, I was only upset, really, about one of them. Jackie. Yep. Yeah. Yep, I was kept going, "Oh no, Jackie's gonna die, no, not Jackie!" So I guess she's just like her, I had kind of, I guess I had become a little attached to. Mm-hmm. She, I tell you what though, she did a great job. She really fought hard and did better than many. I feel like they should've brought some more experience jetties along a particular mission. Padawan carnage is severe, though I don't know who all these other people were. I was gonna say, how many Padawans were there? Yeah, lots of red shirts, we don't know who they were. Oh, the good ol' red shirt reference. But, too very named, I mean both Yord and Jackie have, have been episode after episode. So, some, some surprising stuff. Yeah, I mean I kind of figured out, I think once Jackie started fighting May, I'm like, "Oh man, they're gonna kill off Jackie." I was surprised about Yord, that they killed him off. And so, the only Jedi left standing, soul, soul, soul. Mm-hmm. Wow. All right, well maybe we should start at the beginning. Sounds good. So, OSHA appeared to have been knocked out from her little tap to the left. Yeah. But Pips okay, but we immediately see that one Jedi is already down. Yeah, there's trips and falls on a dead Jedi, or over a dead Jedi. She didn't fall on it. Yeah. And then I did like that lightsaber fight in the distance, you know? Yes. That you could see it through the trees. I thought that was really kind of cool. But man, I'm just gonna keep calling him the master. I mean, I don't know if he is a master. We don't know that yet for sure, but anyways. Okay. He was kicking some serious ass. He really was. Now, did you, well I'm sure you clocked it, but did you know what was shorting out the lightsabers? I wasn't really sure about that because I thought he was just like chopping out, like slicing part of the lightsaber off. And then they started up again. I'm like, what the heck was he doing? So I don't know. So I listened to a podcast called Children of the Watch. Okay. These guys are fantastic. They're probably steeped in Star Wars for yeah and they said that the helmet and perhaps the bracers of the master are made of a material, a very rare material. I think it starts with a C anyway. It's that when the lightsabers hit the bracers or the helmet, they short out briefly. Oh, okay. Yeah. Apparently there's somewhere in Star Wars lore where this comes up, some other place, you know, probably some obscure comics where, but anyway. These guys knew about it. And I was like, Oh my gosh, is he able to like at will short out those sabers so that he only has to do two at a time or something? But apparently it had to do with the material. Hmm. Interesting. This defensive clothing. Yeah. Yeah. Cause that was quite that really was interesting. Yeah. And like you said, it was like, did he destroy them? Oh no, they're, they're fine after a little bit, but yeah. Oh, that explains that. Thank you very much. Yes. Thank you. Children of the watch. Oh, it also prevented OSHA's weapon from doing anything, you know, because OSHA shot him. Right. The same thing. Right. Right. I wonder why because I mean, the master knows maze inside Kanaka's place. And when your tells OSHA to run, she does and the master follows her. I wonder why you went after her and didn't try to get me in Kanaka's place. Well, you know, yeah, all these gentlemen maybe have to assess the situation. I did very much like this sword fighting. I have, I have some beefs like Saul really should have taken that when he had the chance no matter what. I mean, what are you, what they had one chance to take the disguise down. He's, he's got a litter of Jedi bodies. Yeah, I was like, why? I don't care if OSHA's like, so it's like, you got, you got this opportunity, like a missed opportunity. Total missed opportunity. Total missed opportunity. And then you know, that OSHA like calls the umber moths. What are those going to do to him, you know, distract him slightly? I don't know. I was troubled by that. But going back to this very cool sword play, and clearly this guy playing the master, what, or his stunt doubles, you know, fantastic, really, he just looks like it's so effortless. He just looks like he is so overpowering. Yeah. These Jedi. Oh, yeah. Even soul really has to work hard against him. Yeah. And he just looks so kind of effortless. Very impressive. Yeah. Yeah. No, I thought he was doing a good job. And I think, you know, if we think about what he was saying later on in the episode about that one and any rules to follow, yes, I mean, that Jedi, right, they got rules for fighting, which we see when in the last episode, when they showed Jackie and the other Padawan's training, right, like, here's the steps for this fight. Yes. And this, I'm just going to keep all of them in the master or maybe I should call him Kimer, but you know, he just doesn't follow any of those. So that would be hard to fight against, right? If you're expecting somebody with a lightsaber to fight in a specific way, and then they're not in any way, shape or form doing that, that would be difficult to combat. I agree, but it's sort of like, then that's not the best way to fight with a lightsaber, right? If you have these rules and they are ineffective when somebody switches it up, then, you know, I mean, I guess maybe you're only expecting to fight other Jedi with lightsabers, but then why are you fighting other Jedi? So I don't know. I don't know. It was interesting. And we'll get there. But when your says he gets in your head and doesn't get out or whatever, maybe he's got a little bit of advantage with that. Maybe he's able to kind of slow the Jedi down or I don't know, messing with their minds a little bit as well. Hmm, or maybe your knows something about what happened to Kalnaka and Tiber or whatever his name is. Torben. Torben. Thank you. Not Tiber. I'm mixing up all my names together. Understandable. Yes. Quite. Quite possible. Mm hmm. Yeah. Well, I have a lot more to say about that. So we'll wait until we get there. Interesting. Well, this is along some similar lines that the chimer says he's not removing his helmet because then Sol could read his mind. Yeah. I was like, what? It's X-Men much here. This is helmet work like magnetos. Right. And so apparently Sol can read minds, but he can't tell that he's got the wrong twin that he's taking back to the ship. We thought of that. Yeah. I have a problem with it. I got a big problem with it, but I think Basil's know I was just going to save him because I think Basil can tell. Yes. Yes. Yes. I know. I was like, oh, I hope me doesn't kill Basil. Yeah. He's just a cute little critter. Hey little guy. Start screaming. Yeah. You know when just kind of going back a little bit when Master throws his lightsaber at OSHA? Yes. You know what, of course, Sol right there in the nick of time to save the day, but it was right when he did when the master guy did his head tilt. I'm like, yes, it is definitely Kymer. He knew it was Kymer. I knew exactly at that point for sure. I'm like, yeah, that's him because it was just like, remember in the potion shop when he meets OSHA for the first time, it was the exact same head tilt. Perfect. You had it. You nailed that one and you nailed it way before everybody got on the train last episode. Okay, I'm not going to gloat. That's the last gloat. That's okay. No, I like, I take it as a win for the podcast. So I'm jumping right on to your gloating. Yeah. So it was a great opening scene. Yes. And when you were in OSHA, catch up with Basil, yes, and you know, OSHA just wants to go back and help Sol, but you're won't because he's a good little soldier following orders, but yet he eventually hates eventually does, but you know, I was kind of curious, even after I knew that it was Kymer, right? When the master and sol are there by themselves and the master is like, you don't remember me? Is that? Is he just supposed to remember him from the potion shop? This is a great question. And Kymer seems to know so much, right? Like, could he, could he have been? I mean, he's not old enough to have been the role he is now, but could he have been at Brenda as well? I mean, somebody had to extricate Young May from this planet, right, save Young May from the fall, take care of her, get her off the planet. I don't think it can be Kymer because Kymer would be similarly aged, I think, maybe a little older. Right. So there's a piece here, there's a piece about how did May survive? Did the Jedi have something to do with it? That's also possible. Maybe Kalmaka is back there behind taking care of it. I don't know. Yeah. But I'm still betting on one of the mamas surviving. Yeah. That could be. That could be. And of course, we don't know any of them could have had a child before they were exiled to Rendock, so maybe, I don't know. I mean, they better answer that question because it's right now there are big gaping holes that are muddying the waters. Do you remember, I should have checked this before the episode, do you remember how the girls referred to Mama A and Coral? I have my recollection as just when they called when they said their name. Well, Mama was for aha, Mama A, yes, I'm thinking I don't remember what they called Coral. I think they called her Mother Coral. Oh, I think it was Mama, yeah, and Mother Coral. Well I'm just wondering if it's, if Mother is like an honorific and so that any older female is Mother. Could well be, I guess, when OSHA says that her mother could do that, the getting in your head, I don't know that we knew for sure. So who took over Torben, you know, medium black eyed? So I was kind of wondering if it was Mother Coral actually, and so when OSHA says my mother could do that, she was using the Mother Coral name, but you could be right. It could be any, you know, just they use that name for any of the witches. But anyway, I just want Coral to have part of this. Coral there, when the Jedi showed up? Yes. Okay. So yeah, I guess it could have been her. I just assumed it was Mama A. So did I, but I'm not sure we really had any confirmation of that. I mean, Mother A, Mama A did seem like the most powerful. Yeah, yeah, I don't know, but maybe went against her code. Could be. Yeah. Hmm. So anyway, yes, we have to have some questions answered. Yeah. And I also wanted, I was curious when, you know, soul is talking with the man, or Kymer, and souls like what master heights is faced from his pupil and Kymer's like, you tell me. Uh-huh. Like, what's happening? Yeah. Yeah. Kymer seems to know a lot. Yeah. And I wish he would just say it. I wish he would just say it. I wish Mae would just tell OSHA instead of, oh, your brain washed, you know, defend herself. Yeah. Did she not set the fire? Explain. That was ridiculous. Yeah. I was threatening you with it, but I left and the fire was started by somebody else, you know, whatever. And how many times is soul going to say after this, I will tell you, you know, I'm a little tired of this not just giving us some information. Now, that being said, we did find out it was Kymer this episode. So hats off. No more mystery. There we got that. We got that reveal done, but oh, I swear, if soul, if soul sells us one more time, he's going to tell them later. Yeah. Yeah. It's like, come on, dude. Spill it already. You won't just got your ass kicked. What happens next time? Yeah. He died, I don't get to hear the story. Yeah. Yeah. We're lucky we still have him. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hats off to Jackie, man. So Jackie held her own pretty well with Kymer for a while also held her own against May. Yeah. Better than some of these other people. I mean, we don't really know what happened with Killmaka, but in Dara, certainly. Yeah. And why the hell? I'm jumping ahead because it pissed me off. Well, it pissed me off when Yord wouldn't go help Jackie. She's a padawan. And I was super pissed off that soul just kind of basically stood there and watched her fight. Alone. And, you know, boom, boom, boom. Yeah. She's killed. I'm like, dude, we just stand in there and forget your ass over there. Yeah. That's this. Yeah. I couldn't agree more. And clearly, I mean, there were other times when two on one or four on one, Jedi. So it couldn't have been some sort of protocol rule, which again, stupid. Right. This guy's a serial killer. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's just like, wow, okay. And then I wondered, you know, when Jackie was fighting with both her lightsaber and Kalnaka's, if that's where the Sith get the idea to make the double-sided. Mm-hmm. Light sabers, because he kind of, they both kind of looked at it oddly, like, whoa, okay. Yeah. That would be kind of cool because I don't think we haven't seen anybody in this series fight with the two lightsabers like that or a double-sided lightsaber. Anyway, just something that popped into my head when I was watching that scene. So let's see. My next comment is you've always been weak, the timer says to me. And again, I'm like, how long has he known her? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Always is a long time. And when, when was she weak? She wasn't weak as a little girl, was she? I mean, she seemed to have be quite strong-willed and, you know? I agree unless he did control her. Oh, that could be. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. He's able to take her over, made her start the fire. Yeah, we were talking about that, how it seemed like it might not really be her. Wonder what are, what if he was like a servant there? Interesting. Mm-hmm. Picked up, picked up the power. Yeah. Well, you know, people are born with the ability to use the force. Mm-hmm. So, I mean, he could have been a servant and had that ability. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. He had to have been on bread dock scene. It feels like he did. It feels like he did. Yeah. Which might also then explain why he was always masked around May, because he didn't really want her to know that he was on bread dock with her. I don't know. But she would have known Chimer was. Yeah. That's what I'm still talking about. Yeah. I just, it does seem like they went all the way back to bread dock. Okay. Never mind. Yeah. Never mind. She did see Chimer. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. All right. Well, they got to answer some of these things. Yes. Yeah. We've got to, and you know, an episode could last more than 30 minutes, Disney. They really pack a lot into these short episodes. Sure do. They sure do. They sure do. May is turning out to be quite the, what's the word I want to use? Well, she runs a lot. She's got the whole Monty Python thing down really well. Run away. Run away. Uh-huh. And I'm like, God, she's constantly running, which that does kind of surprise me. Mm-hmm. Just based on who they portrayed her as a child, you know, I agree. I agree, but she has had this change of heart. She doesn't want to kill Jedi anymore. Yeah. And OSHA's alive, and she wants to be with OSHA, and she may also have a strong self-preservation she didn't stick to. Yeah. And now that she's lost her bloodthirst revenge for the death of OSHA, there's definitely a shift, maybe not right after she saw OSHA, but definitely when she says, what am I doing? Uh-huh. OSHA's all that matters anymore. Uh-huh. I'm going to turn myself in and be with her. Of course, she's running to everybody to turn herself in, but everybody keeps dying. So she can't do herself. Maybe this is her sneaking on to the ship so she can turn herself in. Well, I kind of wonder if she wants to find out Saul's story. Yeah. I kind of wondered why she fought Jackie if she wanted to turn herself in. That didn't make any sense. Well that's a good point because Jackie was just trying to arrest her. Right. You had a really good point. Jackie was like, I'm arresting you. This is what she was, I thought this was kind of her goal. Maybe she was like, I don't want to be in handcuffs when this master's around because he's going to kill everybody. So maybe that was some of it. That could be. That could be. Yeah. Yeah. I did, I kind of, well, I'm not sure if I appreciated it or if I just thought it was getting a little bit old, again, we got a little bit of that. Luke and Leia ability to call one another through the force. Mm-hmm. May force calls OSHA. Mm-hmm. But I guess that gets back to that whole dyad thing that Boss was talking about. Right. So whatever. But that's when she is actually able to talk your word into going back. Yes. I don't know how she suddenly makes a stronger argument. They're going to kill them all. I think that was a plan all along. Yeah. What's changed? But what's new now? Yeah. It finally relents much to yours to stay. I don't know, you know, it's sort of like what are your and OSHA going to do that the other eight Jedi were with them? Couldn't. I mean, maybe the smarter play is to escape and get the word out. Right. And let the master, the master, soul, the Jedi master. Mm-hmm. Either prevail or go down. But he's the one with the best chance. I mean, I mean, OSHA says they're going to kill. He's going to kill them all. There's only two left. Well, three, including May. Right. Right. So I don't know. Clearly, this guy has already exhibited that he's superior. Right. Right. So I don't know what OSHA thing. I mean, of course, it's noble and all, but maybe the most. Maybe the real pragmatic thing is to get out there and get the band together and be like, we cannot be messing around. This guy is, this guy is deadly as if his, as if we didn't already know. Right. Right. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. I was kind of confused. You know, we know your and OSHA, heading back to the fight. And then we just see OSHA come to like a dead stop in the jungle. And Yord is like nowhere around. And I couldn't figure out if she was at the fight at that point and it kind of lost Yord or if she had not got to the fight yet and was seeing something in her mind. Oh, I kind of don't remember this part. Because if she was at, if she had arrived at the fight, I'm like, why the hell didn't she try to draw his attention or something? Because then, you know, after Jackie's killed and everything, I'm like, well, she must not have been there. Yeah. Because why would she stand there and let Jackie get killed? Oh, and how cold was that comment? Oh, and so was that it's name. It's that it's name. I'm like, oh my God, that's that's serial killer stuff there. You know, it sure was, but I do have to agree that Kimer has a point. You brought her here. Yeah. You are calling her a child. Why did you bring her? Then why did you bring her to this? Yep. Yep. So you can't have it both ways, soul, can't call her helpless and then bring her to a very dangerous mission. Right. So it is interesting. Yeah. Yeah. But was that it's name was cold indeed. Yeah. Oh my gosh. Yeah. I thought that guy did a really good job acting all of that. And it's still managing to be a little funny when he says, well, I did wear a mask. Yeah. Why would you risk exposure if I didn't wear a mask? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And of course, this is the first time, you know, he even kind of refers to himself as a Sith. Mm hmm. So. No, he doesn't white call himself a said, well, what you did. Yeah. I make all me a stuff. Mm hmm. So that was also interesting. There's a lot to this kinder. Yeah. Yeah. Business. Yeah. I'm kind of wondering, you know, because he said he wants Jesus power, however he wants to. And then he also said he wants a pupil and alkalite, which made me wonder. Maybe he isn't a master yet. He kind of wants to get a pupil to maybe overthrow whoever his master is. Mm hmm. That's an interesting thought. I don't know. I guess we'll hopefully find out on where to other. Yes, he is, he is a bit of an enigma. He doesn't seem to be following pure Sith rules either. I mean, it's just, it's just very, it's just really enigmatic. Yeah. And I don't know how much canon there is about the origins of the Sith. I haven't looked up anything nor have I watched or read. I don't know if it's in the canon or if they're just making it up right now. Is this guy going to be like the first Sith, but he can't be because they're already talking about Sith. Never mind. Yeah. No, he can't be. Never mind. Never mind. I have, here's your joining the fight and now you're just dead. Wow. That was brutal. Yeah. The snap in his neck like that. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm not even going to bother using my lightsaber on you. Mm hmm. Wow. No, this kimer is really, you could say he's fighting dirty, but he's also just very, very skilled. Yeah. Yeah. I was surprised when May takes off again and OSHA follows her and actually shoots her this time. Yes. I was surprised about that, but of course it's all turned around on her eventually. Yes. Certainly does. Hey, what do you think about that hand-to-hand combat fight between soul and kimer? Yeah. Hats off to all the fighting in this episode. It was choreographed really well. Agreed. Agreed. It was reminiscent of the first battle in the first episode, not quite as crouching tiger hidden dragon. Nobody was running up stairways or anything, but really, really impressive. Enjoyed it. I did. That way. Yeah. It was really, really well done. Oh, OSHA, why did you stop soul from killing kimer? That just, that made no sense. Yeah. They can't, they're not better than kimer. They're not better than him. He's going to be in trouble. Well, can you, can you even, can it be claimed that somebody who can wield the force is ever weaponless? Very good question. Yeah. Like, like my, my hands are registered weapons, right? I do not have mere mortals hands here. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. I totally agree. Yeah. That belt in karate is not weaponless when they're standing naked, you know? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. And I really want to know what kimer knows about soul. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. He seems to have the dirt. Yeah. And, yeah, OSHA, I, uh, didn't like the whole umber moth thing, which is kind of hokey. Agreed. I love you. Agreed. It distracts him for like three minutes, right? Yeah. And still, kimer's on the run, you know, kimer's deadly threat and he is, this is not over. I can fight nine Jedi on my own and kill all but one of them, but I cannot. But I can, I'm buried off by the umber moths because there's a light on my back. I blew in for my entrance, but I can't get away. Yeah. Yeah. Agreed. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And just, you know, when OSHA asked soul wife, she shouldn't trust him, made sons him. Yep. Exactly. Just now you can wait it for the answer. Come on. Exactly. Time after time after time, the delay with this, with this reveal. Yeah. It's at least three episodes too late. And again, instead of May explaining why OSHA's view is wrong, she just says they brainwashed you. Yeah. And we don't have the facts. Right. Yeah. Not too sure about that scene either. I'm like, I did like the callback to how May helped block the attack on OSHA way in the first or second episode. Oh, yeah. And she said, you never could block. I did. I did like that. I did. Yes. Yeah. That was good. And that's some skill with the lightsaber when you can slice your hair and then it looks exactly like your sister's. Yeah. Yeah. That seemed a little, a little too perfect. So perfect. And again, that's all, it's all can't tell the difference and again, soul and, you know, maybe he has to intentionally get into somebody's mind. And so he's just not even on the alert. Right. I don't know. He could pick up that Calmaca was in that forest. I mean, I can't believe he's fooled. Yeah. Well, of course, the master could see OSHA's hat, but I don't think he was fooled. That it was, that it was May. Agreed. Well, number one, the hair was short. Yeah. I just, for him, I just can't believe soul can't tell the difference. I mean, I played volleyball with identical twins and they looked quite identical, but I could tell the difference, you know, they weren't, they weren't identical. Right. And I think it takes some time being with the person to be being with the twins to tell the difference. Right. But I'm just surprised that, and now I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone who didn't know them well, but I am surprised that soul can tell it doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense. So everyone else is dead, right? It's just, okay, so we've got the twins, we've got soul and we've got basil. Yeah. These are the only survivors. Yes. Wow. Yep. Yep. Basil. May better not kill him. That's all I got to say. Yeah, I hope not. All I got to say, well, that's going to be pretty sus if she does because she's with soul right now, you know. And basil also knows that chimers still alive because he saw him in the trees as all the dead Umbrumas fall and it's true, but as if this should be any surprise. I mean, right. Right. They don't even know these the moths might not do anybody any harm, right? Yeah. I mean, soul killed the one before it even had a chance, you know, maybe they lift you away, but then, you know, just take you back to their campfire, whatever, you know. We haven't seen that they tear people apart or something. Yeah. I mean, we didn't see any like large canines on the mods or yeah, they must be like, Oh, light, light. Let's let's grab this, you know, and and soldiers cut the guy in half, cut the, cut the bug in half. And you know, these guys are like, Oh, the light is the light's boring now. Let's just let him go. I don't know. I don't know. Yeah. Nothing in the assumption that chimer is dead because of the moth fly away. Fully, fully, fully, fully, little hardy. I just skipped the heart in there. I like the fully though. Fully. Just fully. It's fully. Yeah. It's, you know, in episode, not episode three of this, but the movie episode three. Yes. When Obi Wan walks away from Anakin from the, by the lava river, you know, after you like slices off his legs and arms and stuff, he walks away before Anakin's dead and he just assumes he's going to die. And here we kind of have a similar thing, right? That they just leave and assume the master's dead. Don't you people learn from previous canon though it takes place in the future? You always got to see the dead body. That's right. Yeah. Oh, right. It's weird. I mean, I enjoyed this episode, I think particularly because of the fighting, but I don't have a ton of stuff to say about it because there's still a lot of questions. I just really want to get these damn questions answered. And the one question that was answered was the one you already knew the answer to. The potions master, potions master has, has entered the chat. Yeah, I don't, I don't have much else to say. I do want to see the next episode, you know, I can't say that I'm like, Oh my gosh, this show is amazing, but I am sucked in enough that I don't want to quit. Right. You know, I haven't watched anything about the show since we watched the boss last week, but I did see on some headline thing, of course, on the YouTube evidently the fans are, don't really like it. Oh my gosh. There's a lot of negative stuff about it. I was listening to another podcast this morning while I was walking, David Chen. I think it's part of the ringer verse series. Yeah. Okay. And apparently this show has more rankings, more ratings on like rotten tomatoes, I have to be whatever else, than any of the other Star Wars shows. And some of them are overwhelmingly bad, like one star. I mean, like just horrible. And David Chen was talking about that a lot of the people who are commenting or saying things like, it's so political bubble, sort of veiled, veiled racism, I would say, why, you know, that the cast, the cast is diverse, which I think is a plus, right there saying not. So anyway, David Chen was kind of saying, isn't a verse? No, they're saying it's too diverse there, but not in that way, they're, they're cloaking that in other terms. But what they seem to be really saying is give me back my white jedi, you know, and yeah, exactly. Like David Chen's point seemed to be, this is some kind of concerted effort because there's just not just these shows don't usually get this many reviews, right? It just seems kind of intentional to sort of sabotage the show with all of these bad ratings. Now David Chen and the person on his podcast, they have their criticisms of the show, but he himself said, but I don't call it one star. I have criticisms, but I don't think it is unwatchable. Right. Right. Far from it. So in a, in a way, he was saying it seemed rather contrived how bad this, this, he net gallery feedback was interesting, which is sad to see. Not unexpected in these times. No, no, not at all. And that was his point as well. Wow. Well, I'm glad I kind of have avoided all those things. Yeah. Yeah. It was really unfortunate here, but it was just crazy. I don't remember the exact number, but like this had 20,000 ratings by episode three and Mandalorian had like 5,000 after season three or something ridiculously different. Wow. Yeah. That's nuts. Yeah. Yeah. It was, it was very interesting. So yeah, look for David Chen for more details there. He really broke it down. He gave it for the acolyte, you know, he said how many reviews there were for all these various and or, you know, and this one top small. And it's only, it's not even done shows even over yet. Wow. Well, I hope Disney is kind of listening or the Star Wars folks are kind of listening to people like David Chen, you know, and not just looking at those rotten tomato things and. Yeah. It's an unfortunate state of affairs. Yeah. I mean, cause even I, right? Cause I was having a hard time finding somebody to get attached to I was still enjoying the storyline. Yes. Yes. No, I wouldn't give this full marks, right? Right. But I certainly, yes, I am in, I am enjoying it. Do I think it's getting knocked out of the park? No. But I'm interested and I want to know what's, what's going to happen. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I'm intrigued. I want to know what the hell's going on with soul. Yeah. I want to know what really happened on Brandoque. So the story. Yeah. I've written to the story. Yes. And though there have been, you know, though, though we've definitely, we have some feelings about how the Jedi go about their business. One thing you can say is, holy cow, they take sort of like the Mandalorian. They take foundlings, right? From everywhere. Right. You got, you got, you got the force in you. Come on. Well, I don't know if they're all foundlings or more like takelings. Yeah. Well said. Well said. But again, not a sort of like, oh, you better be this tall. Right. No, it's just sort of like, I mean, yeah, if you have the ability outside of the temple, we want you. Yeah. Outside of the Jedi temple, there's this like clown looking thing that says, with its arm out, it says, if you have this many midical or because you get caught in a Jedi temple, come on in. Come on in. So. Okay. Well, thank you for that. Yeah. You bet. When I read that kind of headline, I'm like, what? Yeah. I know. I understand. What are people talking about? Yeah. I mean, it's not best Star Wars ever, but what are people bitching about? Why don't they like it? Yeah. It's a good story. It's a good yarn. Mm-hmm. Yours. Yarn. Yours. Yarn. I tossed that one out to you. You did. You sure didn't I? You got it. So yeah. All right. Well, like I said, I'm enjoying the storyline now. I guess I got a little attached to Jackie, but I think it was more just like, I think the potential of that character. Yes. I'm sad to see her go, right? Because she would have been a badass Jedi. Agreed. So she's a badass padawan. She would have been a badass. She would have been badassery. Badasserer. Badasserer. As a Jedi. Let's see how many new words for the English language. Rebecca and Torque come up with in one episode. Yep. Fully. Fully. And anasserer. Yep. Yep. Yep. Keep with us for this kind of these kinds of shenanigans. Right on. Okay. Well. I'm done. Got nothing else. Me too. So all we got to do now is say goodbye. Thanks for listening, everybody. Wallowing in shallows is created and produced by the both of us, edited by Mo.
