It's all a fall in just one sip. Order ahead on the Starbucks app. Bienvenidos a la afterparty. Feliz Juarez Friday, junior prima van in the building. Kim, Eddie, al compa, micho. So I want to do a follow-up or extend the topic we started today on the show. Talking about peso pluma, when they asked him in an interview to basically describe who is peso pluma. And he was basically saying like, peso pluma is like a superhero that came to save Mexican regional music. And there's just so many things that rubbed me the wrong way about that. Because you're implying that Mexican regional music was dying before that. Cómo que la música recional nóstava y nóstava y nóstava y nó en y la relida es que la estava y nó muy vien. Gens huebe like I said, bro. When was the last time a Mexican artist hit number one on Spotify worldwide? And to that, Kim, you made a good point. Yeah. You said that back in the day, like we sent to Fernandez, they didn't have the internet. And still, Mexican music made it around the world, Mariachi music before the internet. That's way harder. Right. You know, nowadays it's a lot easier to expand your music. And also, wouldn't you guys say that peso pluma? Like he's just not, he's not just regional Mexican. I think he's just a pop artist in general. And I think all these collaborations have helped him. I think he's a great artist. I think he's doing great things for music. But for you to say you're saving a whole genre? I don't know if saving is the right thing or helping it grow or evolve. Maybe it's a better word, no? Yeah, evolve, I guess. But you definitely, I think, I agree he would be considered like a pop artist. You know, Bad Bunny, he did a lot for the regga-ton scene, not saying that other people weren't already great before him, obviously. But I think he always gives his flowers to the people that came before him. And he never tries to say that, "Oh, I saved regga-ton. I brought it back." He never says that. He literally says, "They're great artists, and I'm just happy to be a part of this new movement." Right. And he always brings up the OG's and pays homage to them. Arcan Cal, for him, Joelie Randy. He really loves, you know, Bad Bunny. And I appreciate that, you know what I'm saying? And with peso pluma, saying that man also, you know, somebody else that's involved in that genre of like Correos tumbados, Natanalcano. Ari, I know you love Natanalcano. Yes. But also, dude, where's the humility? He recently was at a concert, and he was like shouting out all the beautiful ladies. And then he said, "Esepto las gorditas." But not the chubby girls. And I'm just like, "Bro, how are you sitting there at your concert saying that?" And you hear it in the crowd. Yeah. Like, when he said, "Esepto las gorditas," it was like, the whole, like, it all got quiet. Oh, yeah. Have those bonintas, arcorditas. I would say more. All of them, yeah. Salamentas y puede yener sus conciertos. Com gorditas y no, no, no, yener. Salón. Including your panza. Okay, me panza que. I love gorditas first and foremost. Just for the record. Let the record show. But I guess what I'm trying to get to is, where's the humility, bro? You look at Los tigres el norte 55 years of doing this, bro. Selling out convention centers. Selling out around the world still for 55 years. Still dropping new music. Yes. And there's some of the most humble people that I've ever met in my life. You know? Yeah. So what do you think is going to come out of like this ego from these younger artists that are doing great things. Don't get me wrong. But Eddie, is that a turn off to you? (speaks in foreign language) Yeah, yeah. (speaks in foreign language) I think he was just, I don't know, he was on something maybe. Because he does, he does that. But he does pay homage to Murray Aquachella. He had that whole video. Yeah, but that's a video. And I feel like he has said too, well, no, he's talked about, I feel like he's talked more about like Nata and others that have paved the way in Doritos Tumbalos. Not necessarily those like, go artists. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I think it was just on a good trip on that interview. Or is he literally just saying like, if vessel Plumeon was a superhero, he would save Mexican music. Because also he believes he really likes Spider-Man. So I'm telling you, maybe he was on a trip. (speaks in foreign language) Yeah. No, in the interviewer being like, uh-huh. Yes, like, obviously she can't like tell him to do this with you. That's a great. I don't know, I think as an interviewer there. I would. In a cool way, you would say something like, and I don't know, we haven't seen four interviews. It was just a team. Right, whoa. I would say, wait, you came to say regional Mexican music. What would you say to other regional Mexican artists that have come before you? Do you think they were dying on? Yeah. You know, is that what you're implying? I would try to start drama and get that clip. It's hard to be an interviewer. As an interviewer? It is hard, guys. There's a funny video interviewer with Shadi Bay recently. Oh my god, it's probably the funniest of ever. Who's Shadi Bay, Eddie? Shadi Bay is his social icon. Oh, our generation, right, Kim? Yes, and basically Shadi isn't... She has a learning disability, so she doesn't express herself as well. Yeah, it's very allegedly. But she doesn't express herself. And the interviewer was like, how do you feel being... No, she said this in English. How do you feel being a social media influencer in an entrepreneur? She says, "Why y'all been?" She says, "Why y'all been?" Live TV! She doesn't know what entrepreneur means. Why y'all, man? And then she says, "I like makeup." It was funny. I like makeup. Yeah, exactly. That reminds me of the Taco Bell Dog. Remember piano on the back of the day? Yes. Do you like your Taco Bell? Hey. Of course, I remember. You'll get a Taco Bell. I like makeup. Yeah, man. I really like Pastor Blumont. I like the new movement of Mexican music. I just don't know if we need all that ego. And maybe it's because I'm in my 40s, and I think ego is just so stupid. Like, it really turns me off. Isn't there just a real life period? Ego? Is the death of you or something like that? Or there's like a saying or a quote or something like that? About evil. Yeah, like, ego is the worst enemy type. But like, if you think about ego, it ruins people. It ruins relationships. It ruins marriages. Like, La Meranetta. But also on the flip side of that, to be an artist like Pastor Blumont, right? To reach global reach, you gotta believe in yourself. Like comedy. You gotta believe that you're one of the best. Yeah. You gotta have that confidence. Especially when he started doing reggaeton and other genres, he knew that he was gonna get hate for it. For sure. But he came in hard. So I respect like having confidence, where it doesn't become arrogant. There's a difference. Oh, for sure. I was gonna say there's a difference between confidence, being confident, and then having like a huge ego. And how long has Pesso been popping for? What'd you guys say? Since they have a la sola. Right. And that was a collab with... Is La Meranetta? Is La Meranetta. When did that go off? Was it last summer? Like two years. Yeah. You open it's even crazy, though, too. He's not paying homage to even his own people's, because look at the drama that went down, when he didn't invite them to the Jimmy Fallon, you know? He didn't invite us to La Meranetta the first time he went to Jimmy Fallon to perform a la la sola, which hit number one worldwide. Correct. And he went solo and didn't invite them. Yeah. So it's like, what do we expect? If he didn't even do his own people, right? Which, you know, like, en la miso madad, la miso madapa, whatever. You know, how would we expect him to, you know? Yeah. But then he went back on recently. He did invite us to La Vona Armado. Si, pero todo pero caramel, you know, during that time. Like, how the people were coming for him, you know, e regardless if it was... But Eddie, to your point, I do like what he did at Coachella with the whole video show of past legends. Yeah. You know, even on her, Jenny Rivera. Jenny, she was the only one. And a lot of OG's in that video. But to say you're saving a whole genre. And then I wouldn't even consider pesso blooma rejional mejicano. No. I think that's the other thing. Yeah. Is that, what do you call his type of music? Is it Corritos tumbasos? Yeah. Is it Corritos bellicos? Yeah, because there's difference, right? Between a tumbado and a bellicos? I don't know. I just think it's Corritos tumbasos. You can't just say it's Corritos within the same. He's gonna start saying he created his own genre. No, he contributes or he says that this genre was started by Natanael. Right. And I agree. He throws all that love to Natanael. Why do you think Natanael hasn't gone as big as others in Corritos tumbasos? Oh, Eddie could tell you that for sure. Hey. Am I going conspiracy theories? Yeah. Let me know. Coming up next week. Oh, dude. Yeah. Hear that? Pumpkin. That's fall calling. And the pumpkin spice latte is back at Starbucks. From that first sweater to late autumn weather. It's all a fall in just one sip. Order ahead on the Starbucks app. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Eddie why has Natanael kind of not gone as big as a pesto pluma? Yeah. As a first reiki that even though he's the one that started this new sound of Corritos tumbasos. Yeah, in order to get big, not to get big, but to get this huge like pesto did, yet to like sometimes sell your soul in the industry. So I don't sell your soul to who? To the industry, like to the devil and stuff. And stuff. Yeah, because Natan did a song or not recently, but he talked about Santa. What is it called? Santairea. Santairea. That's the same religion that Anita subscribes to. Anita La Gracileira. Well, he regrets saying that. He came out there and he regrets saying that he doesn't follow any of that. So I think Natan hasn't really fully sold his soul. And I think Pestle did. And now he's got all this big stuff coming to him. And eventually it's all going to come down. Unfortunately. Eddie, where do you hear these conspiracy theories? It's on TikTok. Love. And do you genuinely believe these things? No, genuinely like Pestle has a lot of talent, obviously. He's very talented. I listen to his music. But it's just very entertaining. Go down now. No, be for real Eddie, you believe it. No, no, not fully. But I do believe some of it. Yeah, there has to be some truth. Yeah. Who would you say has done that in the conspiracy theories that you've seen that they sold their soul? Well, I heard like Taylor Swift. No way. Yeah, Taylor Swift, the weekend. And in their concerts, there's rituals they do. Like these weird circles or like the colors. Hand symbols. You hand symbols. And then sometimes they do like little dances. And supposedly in the conspiracy theories, those dances are rituals, but people don't really know. Just summon more people. Yeah. What the hell. I'm trying to do the dance, but I have no idea. You're summoning. You're sorry. That's wild. Yeah, just guard your heart. That's brain rot, Eddie. Guess that's okay. Brain rot is like when you watch that stuff, your brain is rotting. Like that's not giving your brain any substance. Sorry, I got distracted. The snack cart. I know. Let's say bye. Girl, the shoddy bay. Watching the shoddy bay giving you. You know what I mean? You know what I mean? Me too. And like you know what I mean? And I say you move on. I'm not involving my entire life on him. I like to stop because of it. Well, I didn't stop, but I just watch it. It's a lot of him. Yeah. It's interesting, right? Wait, do you guys believe that theory that TikTok, which is a Chinese-owned company, you know, the content we get is totally different than the content TikTokers get in China. Meaning that in China, the algorithm promotes more like educational stuff, positive things, people doing good things. Yeah, kind of style sonidos. TikTok promotes dances, conspiracy theories, and all this stuff to consume us. To be dumb. Drama, yeah, research history. I don't think they do it purposefully. No, 1,000% because even my for you page looks different than Manus for you page. And Manus for you page looks different than Shaboys and Eddies. Obviously Eddies is filled with conspiracy theories. So I think it's the person, you know that. I don't think China, they let it happen, but I don't think they're like. But Chinese culture is different than American. - So they're a lot stricter, their focus is more on school. So obviously they're consuming more of that content, whereas here we like love brain rot. - So, remember they were questioning El Prasiente, the TikTok? - Yes. - What's that food's name? - Achir. - Yeah, I'm funny. - Achir. - Achir. - Achir. - Achir. - Achir. - Achir. - Achir. - Achir. - I remember. - Achir. - Let me find it. Can I be really curious? - I feel kind of epic. - Achir. - Achir. - Achir. - Achir. - Achir. - Achir. - My daughter, Adiela's... (laughs) - She needs dad's name. - What is it? - Shaoh. - Is it really? - Yeah. (laughs) And we say Shaoh. - Shaoh. (laughs) - Is he Asian too? - He is Asian from the country of India. So India is within the Asian continent. - Yeah, yeah. - I just found that out. - Okay, I have his name. - What's his name Kim? - Don't kill me. - Just try. - I'm just pronouncing it. Say, I'm a Shaoh, Z-choo. Shaoh. - I say so. - I say Z-choo. - Shaoh. - Salud. - Anyways, when he was getting grilled by Congress and so on and so forth, long story short, in the reports it shows that TikTok employees can promote certain things and make them more of a priority or make them go viral if they want to. So I do believe that there is some way shape or form where they are pushing stuff to divide us, and not just TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, like all of these things, right? Like the things we're consumed with, like even videos that we may post. Like recently, the video we posted about the barbers just saying that, since there's a lot of people fighting in the comments, it's gone viral. - Yeah. - It's like, bro, now we're being divided between, are you on the barber side or the customer side? And it wasn't even like that, it was a joke. - But I think the reason why there's so much like drama within, oh, should we just keep it or leave it is because like Instagram and all the other apps, they're from America, so there's control and they've already figured out the algorithm. Like since TikTok is not, we haven't figured it out and yeah, and then they want the control. - Yeah, the American content we consume on Instagram and Facebook, all of that is filtered. Whether we like to believe it or not, it's filtered and we maybe judge other countries for saying, oh, they don't have all access to all this information. When really we're being fed filtered information, TikTok is different and that's why a lot of influencers, creators, they love it 'cause they say this is a way for us to learn about the world and learn new things that we didn't know before because it's non-filtered content. - Got it 'cause certain content doesn't get pushed down on TikTok that maybe America doesn't want you to see. And Kim, you could probably see this too, like I'm sure you post a video and you think, oh, it's gonna do great and it doesn't and then you post something else and it like hella pops off. You know, 'cause that's me too, like I posted a video and dude is literally of hay, a stack of hay. And I think it's got like a lot of views and likes, you know what I mean? - Wow. - But I'm just saying like, it's random. You get me like where is-- - Which is like a difference with Instagram Reels. - Right. - It's completely different than your TikTok. - What do you mean it? - Instagram Reels doesn't, you really don't see the content maybe like months later. - Oh yeah, it's like they always make a joke. Like when you see it on TikTok, you're gonna see it on Instagram Reels like three months later. - Yeah, 'cause it doesn't. - Like the same videos from TikTok? - Yeah, or like whatever. Like say there's a funny joke or a trend on TikTok. You know, you see it, you're engaging with it. You'll catch that same trend like three months later or that joke and it's like everyone's like, "Oh, you're late to the party." - Yeah. - It's usually all the TAs and TAs. - Yeah. - Oh, look at this, it's like, oh, we've been seeing that. That's when you know the trend is dead. - Or that you've made it to your Tien Theo era. - Oh, he did. - One Chaboy posted on his Instagram, it's over. - Thanks, Mitro, appreciate that. - Oh my. - Yeah, I think just the moral of the story here is I really love what the new generation of Mihikanos are doing in music. I think it's awesome guys. - Yeah. - I think that it's the fact that it's evolving. I love the collaboration between different music genres. I think that is great for Latinos in general, you know? - Yeah. - And Del Carriwe, Central America, Colombia. Right now, what's that song that's here in Gata? - Gata only? - Gata only? That's a dura achile. - Wow. - I'm waiting for the next Salvi star to rise. - That could be you. - I know we have look at it, hella not me. We have look at it, but I want there to be, like, some representation. - You did good? - At least Central America. Central America, Honduras, Nicaragua. That would be amazing. - El Jeneral is the one that started everything. - From Panama, he's Central America. - Oh yeah. - El Jeneral is the one that did a Salamano City, Tago Sando. - Uh-huh. - Salamano City, Tago Sando. (mumbles) - That was like the first variation from, like, reggae. Then it was, like-- - Dance hall vibe. - And then it was, like, a little bit of that with El Jeneral from Panama, and then regga tone came from that. - Wow. - That's what I think. - You're so smart. - I'm blown. - Yeah, but you look at Daddy Yankee, humility. - Right? - And he's the pioneer of that, of regga tone. Dude, did you guys hear, and we'll wrap up with this, did you guys hear that there are a bunch of reggae artists and there are states, right? So if that artist already passed away or that producer already passed away, so they leave an estate to, like, a family member. Look, let's see, I like it. - Yes. - Yes. - So the people that are in charge of those estates are now, they came together, and they are attempting to sue almost every regga tone artist and producer, saying that they took reggae beats and composed their regga tone, and they didn't receive royalties for that. - Regga tone. Regga. (laughing) - Regga. - Regga. - Regga. - You imagine that? - Yeah, that would be nuts. - Do you think they deserve that money? - Absolutely, 1000%, especially since reggae, like, I mean, that genre of music, yes, it pops off, but, you know, not as much as the other genres, you know? Country, Mexican, regga tone, even for that. - I know there's certain laws that, like, you can sample music if it exceeds a certain amount of time it becomes public property. - So, that too. - It's gonna be interesting where that goes. But yeah, look, moral of the story is, I think it's good to have confidence. I like to call it God-fidence, which means you have confidence in God that he has plans to prosper you and to not to harm you and has hope for your future. So, you know, obviously God has gifted you in many different areas, do your best at all that, but always stay humble, man. You know, I think you can have confidence and still be humble, and that is a perfect mixture, and I think we need more of that in our world, bro, 'cause ego is the enemy. I think that's the same, but you're on. And I think it's a book. Ego is the enemy. Can you look it up, Eddie, real quick? Ego is the enemy. I think it's a book. But love you guys, have a great rest of your day. Thank you for hanging out with us with this-- - Yeah, there's a book. - Conspiracy Theory, so who's the author? - Oh, yeah, but how old are you, Ryan? Oh, yeah, how old are you? - Ryan, how old are you? - Ryan, how old are you? - How old are you? - How old are you? Ryan. - Pass the pen. That's a good book, check it out. All right, love y'all.
