What's up everyone and welcome back to the program. In a previous episode, we were talking about women who are in love with convicts, and we were talking about Brian Coburgers specifically and how all of these women in these groups are talking about how much they're in love with them and how some of them have even taken the step to put some money on this dude's books. Well, over on Facebook, there are several different groups that have popped up, that are in support of Brian Coburger. And as you can imagine, people aren't too excited to hear that news. Me, personally, I don't really care honestly. Whatever people want to do, they're going to do. You can control people, and if that's what people want to believe, then hey, fine. There are some people out there that will not believe that Brian Coburger is guilty, even if there was video evidence of him committing those crimes. And you know what? They're entitled to those opinions, just like they should be able to have these sorts of groups if that's what they want to do. Certainly nothing that I'm interested in, but I'm not a fan of censorship in any capacity for the most part. And if people want to talk about dumb shit, that's their prerogative. I think we're better served to see all the stupid people talking about the dumb shit they're talking about, rather than that happening in the shadows and us having no idea what the numb skulls are up to. Also, who doesn't like a good laugh at the moronic babbling of some idiot who thinks they have it all figured out? I know I get a good laugh on social media pretty much every single time that I log on. So I really don't see the difference here with the way people talk on social media in general and there being a group supporting Brian Coburger. And furthermore, we have to keep in mind that it might just be a troll job. One of these groups, one of the bigger groups was named something else before flipping it up and coming out as this page that supports Brian Coburger. So we have to remember with social media, there's all kinds of weird shit going on. And you never know who's behind setting up one of these groups and what the purpose is. Maybe this group is set up by some idiot who's just trying to farm information from people who join up. Now I don't have any proof of that, but we all know that that occurs. So I'm not even sure if this group or these groups are actually even legitimate as far as people sitting there and supporting Brian Coburger. Now the people who join the groups, I'm sure some of them do, but I'm talking about the administrators and the people that set these groups up. So let's dive into this Newsweek article real quick and let's see what's going on here. Headline, "Justice for Brian Coburger Facebook group sparks anger." The author of this article is Julia Carbonaro. My advice is don't get mad about stuff like this. You can't control it. Why bother getting mad? The creation of Facebook groups in support of Brian Coburger, the man accused of fatally stabbing four University of Idaho students in their off campus rental home in the early hours of November 13th has sparked outrage online and whoever created the page understands that that sort of provocative type of content is going to have people in their feelings and not happy about that page's existence. And if my theory holds true here, then that is exactly the result that they're looking for. They're trying to drive traffic to those pages so that they can do whatever they're going to do with that traffic. I have no idea, you know, farm information, whatever advertisements. I don't even know how it works to be honest with you when it comes to things like Facebook. Is there a revenue to be had if you have one of those groups? I'm sure there is. Everything's monetized these days. After weeks without an apparent clue on who might have committed the quadruple murder of Madison Morgan, Kaylee Gonzavas, Zannakar Nodl, and Ethan Chapin, Moscow police identified Coburger, a 28 year old graduate student and teaching assistant at Washington State University as the only suspect. He was charged with four counts of murder and one count of felony burglary. But some online are now protesting the allegations against Coburger, claiming that he might not be responsible for the deaths of the four students. Several groups have been created on Facebook, calling for justice for Coburger, claiming that the 28 year old suspect should be considered innocent until proven guilty. I don't know anyone who disagrees with that statement because everybody should be considered innocent until they're proven guilty. But with that said, that doesn't mean that there isn't a lot of evidence that's stacked up against this dude because there is and that's just reality. And anyone that's not accepting of that reality, well, that sounds like a them problem because from what I have seen in that probable cause affidavit, it seems like they have a pretty strong case against Brian Coburger. And if some of the sources can be believed that have been coming out lately, well, it pieces everything together because you have people out there that say, well, what's the motive? There's no proof that even knew those victims unless, of course, you believe the sources from people and news nation and I happen to believe those sources, then that gives you the ties to Brian Coburger and those ties will be able to be packaged as part of the motive by the prosecution. One such group, Justice for Brian Coburger, claims exactly that. In its description, it quotes Ronald Jones, a man who was wrongly convicted of the rape and murder of a woman in Chicago in 1989 and was given a death sentence saying, "It's about whether or not you can prove you're innocent. If you can't prove you're innocent, then you're considered guilty. It's been flipped, now it's guilty until proven innocent." And that's a great quote and all and it sucks that Ronald Jones was convicted and he was convicted wrongfully so. That's certainly not something that anybody ever wants to hear about, right? But that doesn't have anything to do with Brian Coburger. We can come up with all the quotes we want, all the anecdotes we want, but the fact is this. The evidence that has been presented thus far is certainly strong enough for him to be sitting behind bars and waiting for trial. And remember, he's going to have a chance to defend himself, come trial time. What anybody in the media says, what I say or you say or anybody, it has no bearing on what's going to happen inside of that courtroom. And it's going to be those jurors who decide if Brian Coburger is innocent or guilty. Not me, not you, and certainly not some numb nut from the Justice for Brian Coburger Facebook group. The group counts over 3,000 members. Another group with the same name counts over 13,000 members, but it's unclear whether all participants are there for Coburger. The group, created in 2014, was previously named "Christians Against Hocus Pocus II" and "Christians Against Buzz Lightyear" among others. So this is what I was talking about when I was saying about it being a SOC account. Very possible that this is just a drive traffic and they know that this topic is hot right now. So whoever administers this page decided to hop on the bandwagon and try and draw some more traffic onto their Facebook page. And to me, one of the dead giveaways of something like that is the fact that this page has been around since 2014 and in that time span, it has undergone 3 different changes to what the Facebook page is about. That definitely sets off all of my fugazi alarm bells and it makes me think that this isn't a page to support Brian. It's just a page to drive that traffic and try and push the buttons of some people who might get offended or mad about stuff like this. Several other smaller groups are dedicated to proving Coburgers alleged innocents but count less than 500 members. Those groups I think are probably more legit as far as people who really think Brian Coburger might be innocent. And hey look, people are entitled to that opinion right? We don't have all of the evidence yet. All we have is what's in that probable cause. And there's some people that just won't buy it. So I'm sure those folks have made their way to forums of like-minded individuals so that they could share their opinions and all the other jazz that happens in a forum like that. All Facebook groups are private but they still attracted criticism from people upset about the attempt at defending the criminology PhD student. Imagine being such a piece of shit to stand with Brian Coburger? I stand with the four people who were killed, posted a Facebook user in one of the justice for Brian Coburger groups. What the hell sort of disgusting individual do you have to be to start this Facebook group? Comment that another person? Picture if this was your kids, grow up. So people are gonna be in their feelings, there's no doubt. And it's my guess, like I said before, that they're looking for that reaction from people. We all have somewhere we're trying to get to. Since his arrest on December 30th, Coburger has maintained his innocence with his former lawyer saying that he's eager to be exonerated. He's yet to be tried in court, but a hearing has been scheduled for June. Police have only so far disclosed some of the evidence that has led to Coburger's arrest, including DNA from a knife sheath left on a bed with two of the victims. The 28-year-old's phone records also show that he was in the area a dozen times before the killings of the four students, and Coburger drives a white Hyundai the same car that was spotted near the crime scene on the night of the student's death. The case of the Forest Lane University of Idaho students has gripped the nation for months and sent internet sleuths and members of the public into a frenzy trying to identify the culprit. While investigations were still ongoing, Moscow police repeatedly asked members of the public to avoid spreading misinformation about the case. How did that work out? You had all these two nods that couldn't wait to get to their YouTube page or their TikTok to make some shit up and hurry up and post it. I couldn't believe some of the nonsense that was coming out at the beginning of all of this. And the fact that some of that shit caught traction was just bananas to me. Sorta like, you know, the TikTok psychic who f'd around and found out after she accused one of the professors of being involved. Yeah, that didn't work out so well for did it. Coburger has received unexpected sympathy from some members of the public, including a lovesick woman, who wrote him several admiring letters. Discussions in support of Coburger on Reddit in the "Bry Nation Forum" include one asking, what was it about Brian that got your liking, and another one stating, "I find Brian hot but don't want to" ideas. And we touched on that earlier in an episode, so we'll just leave that alone for now. I wanted to talk about these Facebook groups and how I don't think that they're even real considering the name changes and the fact that they were created in 2014. And if you look at the other names that the pages were before being turned into this one for Brian Coburger, whoever the administrator is, is not dealing with a full deck. Christian's against the movie "Hocus Pocus" really, that's what you're worried about, you have nothing better to complain about, you're worried about the movie "Hocus Pocus" and then you're worried about Buzz Lightyear. So whoever is the administrator of that page is certainly Stu Nod folks, and I highly doubt their motivations have anything to do with Brian Coburger or the murders in Moscow. Alright everybody, that's gonna do it for this one. All of the information that goes with the episode can be found in the description box. This is the story of the one.
