And welcome back to the program. A few months ago, we were talking about a woman named Carly Russell, who said that she was kidnapped, but her story never made sense from the start. And that's because the whole entire thing was a bunch of BS. And because of her BS story, she was facing some criminal charges while now we're learning that she is going to avoid jail time and instead she's getting slapped with a fine. So let's get to this article from Lawn Crime and let's see what's going on with hoaxer, Carly Russell. Headline, "I am extremely remorseful." Fake kidnapping victim, Carly Russell, avoids jail time must pay 17K. This article was authored by David Harris. Carly Russell, the Alabama woman who set off a frenzy when she tricked the nation into thinking she was the victim of a violent kidnapping only to later reveal she made the whole thing up, pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors on Thursday. And it reminds me of that Sherry Papini lady. Remember her and her whole entire stupid ass kidnapping hoax that she tried to perpetrate on everybody? And they'll never understand people that engage in this kind of nonsense. You're gonna get caught, you're gonna get found out, you're gonna be called an absolute moron, so what are you doing? Why are you out here making pretend somebody kidnapped you? A judge suspended her year-long prison sentence and gave her a year of probation and a $17,000 fine. Russell 26 apologized for her actions during the hearing at the Jefferson County courthouse. She said she was fighting emotional issues at the time. And as much as I think, it's ridiculous that she faked a whole entire hoax. I think the judge did the right thing by not giving her gel time. While I think her behavior is immensely stupid, I think that it would be more of a burden and costs more to the taxpayer to put her behind bars. So suspended sentence is the right way to go. And if she screws up, well then, obviously you pick her up and you put her ass in jail. I am extremely remorseful for the panic, fear, and various range of negative emotions that were experienced across the nation. I wanna specifically acknowledge and take accountability for the pain and embarrassment that I inflicted upon my family, my church family, friends, neighbors, community, and all of those who are directly involved in search efforts for me. Russell said through tears, according to LA.com, and remember when she first said that she was kidnapped? And they said that the only things that were taken were a couple of items and their snacks. Right then and there I said, this seems like a hoax to me. No kidnappers showing up and stealing your hoe hoes. So I always had my questions about this one, and well, it turns out that she was BSing. Russell was previously found guilty in a lower court, but her attorneys appealed the case to circuit court, which led to Thursday's plea. The Alabama Attorney General's office, which prosecuted the case, argued for jail time. Of course they did, it's Alabama. I don't know why anybody would commit any crimes in a place like Alabama. Especially considering their new method of the death sentence, carbon monoxide or whatever. Yeah, I think I'll be doing my crime elsewhere. I hear California's a pretty great place to commit crime, or how about New York? Ms. Russell faked a kidnapping, duped the community, and contrived this situation. We judge, still don't know to this day, where she was, how she got there, what she was doing, and with whom she was doing it with. Prosecutor Clark Morris said, according to Alabama.com, and he's not wrong about any of that, but a jail sentence? I don't think that that's going to do anything, or improve the situation at this point. Now, suspended sentence for sure, and obviously a lot goes into it. If she was a, you know, previous criminal, what her record looked like, if she was somebody that was an upstanding citizen previously, and she might have just fell off track here. We want to give people second chances, right? I know I do. I think that the most harsh penalty should be reserved for those who commit violent crime. Now, that doesn't mean if you commit other crimes, you shouldn't be punished, but it should be a punishment that fits the crime. And I think a suspended sentence here, and all of the embarrassment, is probably enough for Ms. Russell. But in the end, the judge said, while she wasted government resources, and caused unnecessary alarm, she was not a threat to the community, so jail time wasn't necessary. And I think that's really what it comes down to. She's not a threat to the community, maybe to herself, but there is nothing in her past that shows us that she's going to hurt somebody in her neighborhood, or at the local convenience store. Now, if I was the judge, I probably would have ordered some kind of psychiatric care as well. You know, go see a psychiatrist three times a week, whatever it is, because you can deal with symptoms all day long, but if you don't get to the root cause of the problem, you're never going to fix the real issues. It all started on July 13th when she called 911, saying she had spotted a child walking alone on I-459 South. Russell then called her family, saying she had stopped her car to check on the child. Then something happened. The family member lost contact with her, but the line remained open. The Hoover Police Department wrote in a news release. So of course, right away, you're thinking the worst. Some ladies out here doing her best to try and help some kid, and she gets kidnapped or something happens to her. Then right away in my mind, I'm like, "Was it a setup?" Did somebody put that kid out there and use that kid as sort of a prop to help them with their kidnapping plan? And at first, those are the things you're thinking about, right? You don't think that somebody's going to make a hoax of this, but my friends, you never know. People are motivated by some very wild shit, and you never know what kind of struggle somebody's going through, right? You don't know if they're dealing with mental issues or anything like that. So Ms. Russell obviously was going through something, and whatever the reasoning is, she decided that this would be her best course of action. Police found Russell's vehicle, but no sign of her or a child, the discovery sparked a frantic search that ended the night of July 15th, when police said she showed up at her parent's home. Some straight gongrel shit, right? Oh, I've been kidnapped, but here I am. I'm back and don't get it twisted. I don't have any love for Carly Russell, and I think what she did is extremely stupid, but I don't think it necessitates gel time. Russell told investigators a man with orange hair and a big bald spot abducted her. She claimed he forced her into a car, and the next thing she remembered, she was in the trailer of an 18-wheeler, please said. Russell told police she could hear the man conversing with a female. She heard a baby crying. She claimed she escaped the 18-wheeler, but was caught, blindfolded, and put into a car. She claimed she was not tied up, and heard her captors say it was because they didn't want to leave marks on her wrists. So she had this whole ass elaborate plot, right? And instead of making up stories to pitch to the police and your family, go take a creative writing class. This would have been a cool story if you wanted to write a book or something, you know, sell it to Lifetime, movie network or some shit, but nobody's gonna buy this in reality when your story starts getting looked at and the police start looking for evidence. Nobody else saw a kid. You're the only one that saw this child, huh? Then there's other story about imaginary people. Give me a break. - Hey, it is Ryan Seacrest. The following morning she was fed and the woman played with her hair before she was put back in a vehicle and she managed to escape. She claims she ran through the woods and came out near her home. Well, that's convenient, huh? Took a little trip through the woods and over to grandma's house we go. You know, here's a little tip. If you're gonna tell one of these fanciful BS stories and you're gonna expect people to buy it, at least sprinkle a little truth in it, police began questioning her story starting with a child on the highway when they found no evidence that it happened. And right then and there she should have known that this wasn't going to work. Like the police aren't going to contact anybody else or their other witnesses aren't gonna come forward. Give me stupid ass plots and ideas for a thousand, Alex. Further suspicions were raised when a search of Russell's computer found she looked up. Do you have to pay for an amber alert? Had to take money from a register without being caught and Birmingham bus station. She searched for one way tickets to Birmingham to Nashville, Tennessee with a departure date of July 13th, police said. The day she disappeared, Russell searched for the movie taken about a young woman being abducted. What did she think she was gonna get from that? Oh, let me go get the Liam Neeson movie taken and let me do some research. I mean, for real, what she should have done is take a look at Sherry Papini's story to see how her story was going to end as well. Because if you're gonna do something like this, breaking news, you're probably gonna get caught. And when you get caught, you're gonna look like one of the biggest buffoons in the history of buffoonery. Surveillance video from a place of work the night she disappeared showed her concealing a dark robe, a roll of toilet paper and other items belonging to the business. Later, she picked up food from a restaurant and snacked from Target before getting on a highway and heading toward her home. Police found her vehicle with personal belongings and the restaurant food inside, but the Target snacks and the items she took from work were not found. Oh, of course not. She had to have some trail mix for the walk through the woods. What an absolute clown. As for the 911 call, the data from Russell's phone showed that she traveled about 600 yards or six football fields while on the phone with a dispatcher and supposedly following the toddler. Then on July 24th, Russell admitted through her attorney in a statement that it was all made up and apologized. Folks, false alarm, we're just kidding here. No kid, no kidnapping, just an absolute moron telling tall tales. There was no kidnapping on Thursday, July 13th, 2023. My client did not see a baby on the side of the road. My client did not leave the Hoover area when she was identified as a missing person. My client did not have any help in this incident. This was a single act done by herself. My client was not with anyone or any hotel with anyone from the time she was missing. My client apologizes for her actions to this community, the volunteers who were searching for her to the Hoover Police Department and other agencies, as well as to her friends and family. We asked for your prayers for Carly as she addresses her issues and attempts to move forward, understanding that she made a mistake in this matter. And that's really what it comes down to, a stupid moronic mistake that cost a bunch of money, but a mistake nonetheless. And hopefully what this does is get her the help that she needs mentally because she's obviously going through it. So I hope that this incident leads to her getting some help and her getting her mental state figured out because nobody who's in the right frame of mind and who is thinking clearly or correctly is gonna do something like this. Either way, there was no way from the very beginning that this was a kidnapping. And the fact that she thought she was gonna get away with it tells me right away that she is in fact insane. All right, folks, that's gonna do it for this one.
