ICYMI: Nancy Crampton Brophy Takes The Stand In Her Own Defense

Nancy Crampton Brophy is an American author who gained notoriety after being convicted of murdering her husband, Daniel Brophy. She wrote romance and suspense novels, often featuring stories of women in difficult situations. Her husband, a chef and culinary instructor, was found shot to death in June 2018 at the Oregon Culinary Institute in Portland.


Nancy was arrested in September 2018 and charged with his murder. Prosecutors argued that she killed her husband for financial gain, citing her significant debt and multiple life insurance policies taken out on him. Her trial garnered significant media attention due to the unusual circumstances, including the fact that she had written an essay years earlier titled "How to Murder Your Husband." In 2022, she was found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.


Nancy Crampton Brophy, the novelist accused of killing her husband took the stand in her own defense last week in an attempt to sway the jury that she was not guilty of the crimes charged and in fact, she loved her husband very much.
