The acid forfeiture unit has seized a luxury SUV and two properties worth 25.5 million round linked to former Itagwini Mayor Zandile Gumeide. The unit says the seized properties were funded through payments to the company Al Shaddai. It's one of four firms involved in a multi-million-round Durban solid waste tender that is at the centre of a corruption case in which Gumeide and 21 others are the accused. The Durban High Court is hearing the trial. Health economists estimate the country loses over 160 billion round annually due to poor mental health in workplaces. The losses based on lost days of work, employees being at work well and well or death. According to Gallup's mental state of the world report, South Africa ranks 69th and of 71 countries. It shows that over 30% of South Africans show signs of stress and disengagement at work, which is indicative of burnout. Stell and Bosch University psychiatrist Professor Renata Scumann says it's not surprising. This week is Corporate Mental Health Week with a focus on burnout. Scumann says while burnout isn't classified as a medical disorder, its impact is crippling. It's frequently described in the occupational sphere and it can cause debilitating impact on productivity, bottom line and the overall health of especially top achievers. Citizen Union Denosas says it welcomes Dr. Aaron Muzuelani's return as the Health Minister. Muzuelani was at the helm of the department from 2009 to 2019 before being redeployed to home affairs. Denosas Gwenatmanamela says he hopes Muzuelani will address shortcomings in the department, including the nursing curriculum he introduced in 2013. The intake of nurses has gone down since it changed the curriculum and that in itself limit accessibility to health. The other things will engage us and when we work with him because it's not new to the department. Muzuelani says they also want the Minister to fast-track the implementation of the National Health Insurance, including attending to issues of human resources, in mating, national health insurance and really accessible. Human resources should be available where they are needed the most and funds should be made available in those areas. And Kenyan police have fired tear gas to scatter small crowds in the capital Nairobi after youth activists called for fresh anti-tax protests. They've stepped up to their campaign against President William Ruto despite his announcement last week that he would not sign into law a controversial finance bill that triggered large youth-led demonstrations, which Ruto called treasonous. Kenya's Human Rights Commission yesterday said 39 people have been killed and 361 injured over the past two weeks of protests. It condemned the use of force against protesters as excessive and disproportionate. The top story, the asset forfeiture unit, has seized a luxury SUV and two properties worth 25.5 million rand linked to the corruption accused former mayor of Ettagwini San Di Lea Gumeide.
