On FM, on the station app and on Open View Channel 606, this is East Coast Radio News Watch. A local Raypays Association says it's concerned that members of President Cyril Ramaphosa's new multi-party cabinet lack the experience and qualifications to adequately run their ministries. Ramaphosa announced his executive on Sunday, the ANC-retained 20 of the 32 portfolios giving 12 to opposition parties who have signed on as members of the GNU. Blaf Raypays Association Chairperson Alison Schumann says residents are worried about what these changes mean for them. "The lack of relevant expertise is alarming, particularly because it directly impacts service delivery and governance in 80 greenies. We believe that meaning cabinet appointments are made based on political affiliation rather than on merit and qualifications for the position." At the same time, the Save South Africa's civic movement says it believes ANC rather succumbed to the DA's pressure for positions. The DA has secured 12 positions in the new cabinet. The civic movement Stobohor Mashilampane also raised concerns about the redeployment of some ministers such as Ronald LaMola and Angie Mocheka. "LaMola is no capacity to lead the country on international matters. However, he was fit and proper in his previous role. Further, show condition by the president is that one of appointing the former minister of basic education to defend the entire country as the new minister of defense and military veterans." The Health Professions Council of South Africa and the University of Poiseu Le Natal have refuted claims that they've failed foreign trained doctors who want to work in South Africa. They've been accused by the South African Internationally Trained Health Professionals Association of Manipulating the Pass Rate. It's after about 70% of applicants who wrote the board exams in October last year and February this year failed. David Mamacha is from the HPCSA. And the broad U.S. President Joe Biden has condemned the Supreme Court's decision which ruled that presidents are entitled to absolute immunity from prosecution for official acts taken while in office. The ruling could hamper the federal case against former President Donald Trump over his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. "No one is above the law, not even the President of the United States. The Supreme Court's decision on presidential immunity almost certainly means that there are virtually no limits what the president can do. It's a fundamentally new principle and it's a dangerous precedent."
