KZN's number one for local news, this is East Coast Radio News Watch. Senior officials from the KZN Social Development Department will descend on the Aryan Benevolent Children's Home in Chatsworth, South of Durban this morning. It has to do with several allegations and recent reports of child abuse at the facility. The department spokesperson, Mclavam Meemela, says Emissim Bali-Shinga will address the allegations today. He says those found to be responsible will be met with decisive action. Reports suggest that workers in the facility have ignored children's rights with instances of children being assaulted. The Emissis is expected to outline images being implemented to protect children in the facility. The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called for President Siro Ramaphosa to be transparent about how he went about choosing the ministers that will make up his cabinet under the Government of National Unity. The SACCI's Alan Mukokhi says Ramaphosa must reveal the criteria he used to assign the positions. The president announced his new multi-party executive on Sunday after weeks of negotiations. The ANC retained 20 of the 32 portfolios, giving 12 to opposition parties who have signed on as members of the GNU. As after the party lost its outright majority in the 2024 elections. The ANC has confirmed that Jacob Zuma will virtually appear before its disciplinary committee in two weeks. The hearing was previously postponed in May due to security concerns. Zuma was suspended from the ANC in January after announcing he would vote and campaign for the MK Party. The committee has charged the former president with two counts of misconduct. And abroad, Israel has carried out fresh strikes in southern Gaza today, forcing hundreds of Palestinians to flee after the army once again ordered the evacuation of certain densely populated areas. Witnesses reported multiple strikes in and around the city of Khan Yunus, where eight people were killed and more than 30 were wounded. The bombardment came after a rare rocket barrage claimed by a militant group that has fought alongside Hamas. Meanwhile, Israel has released the director of Gaza's main hospital al-Shifa following allegations it had been used as a Hamas command center. "It's a happy day that we have been released from the Israeli occupation's detention. We and a group of colleagues working in the health ministry and other detainees. We left behind many detainees, tens of thousands who have been mistreated, who have been physically and psychologically tortured."
