KZN's number one for local news, this is East Coast Radio News Watch. A Durban mother and daughter are counting their lucky stars after they were rescued from a nature reserve. The pair aged 54 and 23 got lost and disorientated during their hike in the Palmit Nature Reserve in Westville yesterday. Speaking to News Watch, the mum who's asked not to be named for calls, they got lost. We were quite scared because when we went down to the river, that part of the river was very isolated, very different from other areas. We had never seen any other people during our time on that trail. Now we maybe wonder why. We did see a child's school bag that still had lunged in it and something that was still inside the lunged in and that kind of creeped us out. My phone had died, so we had to decide now what we needed to do. My daughter was scared. The man is to call 10-1 before losing signal. Moby Claw, 9-1-1, Zvenan Vlad says they and other volunteers were called by the local police to help locate them. Vlad says he activated his drone. The footage, which he shared on Facebook, shows the drone above thickbush and then zooming on to the two sitting on rocky terrain by the river. Contact was made with a mother and daughter with cell phones. However, no proper location could be established. A drone was utilised in the search, which resulted in a positive sighting of the two individuals. Communication was explained to them that we've got a rescue team on the way to them, which transpired. The mother and daughter were safely taken out of the bush, says paparomidics, where there were no injuries. Yeah, a positive result. The woman says they were following the trails, but there were no boards to direct them. She hopes the reserve will improve on this. Rice and Zanzie has shared its views on the new government of national unity cabinet. While fully conscious of the need to include as many parties as possible in the national executive, we are disappointed that the body has been enlarged, with some ministries being served by two deputy ministers. The number of ministers in President Sotomayor's cabinet has increased from 30 to 32. There are 43 deputy ministers with 11 departments having two deputies. The United African Transformation Party and Rice and Zanzie are the only two parties in the government of national unity without a ministerial position. Rice and Zanzie's Mabina Sierra Bay has explained they didn't ask for one, nor were they offered a position in the executive. Our participation in the G&Us are mean that we will rubber stamp the decisions of the executive. We will scrutinize all pronouncements and decisions of the executive and where it is in the best interest of the people of South Africa, we will lend our support. Rice and Zanzie therefore looks forward to playing an active role in elevating the status of parliament and ensuring that the president, deputy president, ministers and deputy ministers act to uphold the constitution. And finally, Paul Dam has cancelled more to her dates due to illness. The rock group was supposed to perform in London over the weekend and have now cancelled their tour gigs in Berlin. In a statement, they say, despite everyone's best efforts, the band has yet to make a full recovery and tickets will be refunded.
