Telling The TRUTH
051714 Telling The Truth 28 Minute Program
[music] You're listening to "Telling the Truth" from Triple T. Christian Youth Ministries, "Telling the Truth to and Through Teenagers." Here is Triple T. founder and president, George Dooms. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus did wonderful things during His time on planet Earth and He had things to share. Listen please to Matthew 935, New King James Version. Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. That's what Jesus did, that's who He was. He didn't stay put, but He continued to go to travel and to share the gospel. That's what we need to do now because He asked us to do it. And so today it becomes our opportunity to take the gospel to people, people who need Jesus. Will you admit that you have sinned and turn to Jesus from your sins? Believe on Him with all of your heart and be willing to tell other people? We've put together God's ABCs. They're in printed form. It's the gospel, all scripture. They're free for you. To get yours call 812-867-2418. That's 812-867-2418. Tell us how many you will prayerfully present to people. Matthew 936, New King James Version gives us a glimpse into the depth that Jesus had in His love for people. Listen, but when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them because they were weary and scattered like sheep having no shepherd. Sheep with no shepherd, that's a predicament, that's a problem. That's a circumstance that Jesus was very, very concerned about and because of His compassionate approach to people, He wanted to reach out to them. He wanted them to hear the good news. And as we read this sixth chapter of Matthew, we see what Jesus had in mind and what He was trying to do. And that problem on that day is still in existence in our day. There are people everywhere who need Jesus, but somehow somebody has to take them the gospel. Somebody has to go out there to them and share the good news. That's why we have put together a tool called God's ABCs and they're for you. And you can get copies and you can take them to people. They are all Scripture and you can share them. Call 812-867-2418. Jesus opened His heart and shared very personally and very urgently. Listen, then He said in His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few." That's Matthew 937, New King James Version. Jesus knew that there were people needing to hear the gospel. But the only way it could happen was for people who knew Christ to be able to go and share Christ with others. And that's where we are today. We need people, people who know Jesus, who care about people who don't, and to go with the gospel to the lost and to go today. We're trying to get people like you to become Christian communicators. We've put together God's ABCs. And what we want you to do is to go with the gospel to folk who don't know Jesus. Call us, area code 812-867-2418. Let us know how many ABCs you will prayerfully use. That's 812-867-2418. I know that there are people that you could reach if you would. So please call us and get your ABCs and take them to people who need Jesus. Jesus gave us a very, very special assignment. Listen, "Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." Matthew 938, New King James Version. Do you understand what God is saying to you through that verse? He wants us to pray, to pray to the Lord of the harvest. That's God Almighty. He's a designer of the universe and He wants us to pray for laborers, for God to send out those laborers into His harvest. It's His harvest, not our harvest, but He has to have harvesters. He has to have workers. He has to have laborers, folk like you and folk like me. And that's why we are trying to challenge you to go with the gospel. God's ABCs are available to you. Those ABCs with the verses that are there will let people know how to get to heaven. So why don't you call us? 812-867-2418 and determine that you are willing to go with the gospel to folk who need Jesus right there where you live. Call 812-867-2418. Tell us how many you will prayerfully present to folk who need the Lord. And pray with us that many, many others will become communicators of the gospel. You can be one and pray that groups of 1, 2s, 10s will go with the gospel too. Jesus touched a man and made him whole. And the man wanted to just keep following Jesus. But He told him to go away saying, "Return to your house and tell what great things God has done for you." Listen to Luke 839, New King James Version. And He went His way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for Him. What about you? Has Jesus done some wonderful things for you? Has He saved you? Has He given you the gift of God, eternal life? Have you turned to Him from your sins and received that gift? If you have, that's the greatest thing in the world that you can share with anyone. And you can let them know how they too can have the gift of God, eternal life. How do you do this? We've put together in printed form God's ABCs. And we're asking you to prayerfully consider being a Christian communicator to tell the truth to folk you know. Will you do that? We've put together Romans 323, Romans 623, John 3 16, Romans 10 9 and 10. And you can give the gospel to people. 812-867-2418. Listen to what happened when Jesus sent people out to do what He wanted them to do. So He departed and went through the towns preaching the gospel. That's Luke 9 6a, New King James. You can do that too. You can go out through the towns around you. That's what we're doing this summer. We're going out to county after county, to town after town to present the gospel. We're going to give God's ABCs to people. We're going to offer free Bibles like the one we're offering to you. You can get yours by writing us our calling 812-867-2418. And if you will ask for them, you'll get copies of God's ABCs to give to people. And we'll pray with you and for you as you go with the gospel. Do what Jesus asked people to do to go and then listen to what happened. They did it. They accomplished what He wanted them to accomplish. So they departed and went through the towns preaching the gospel. Will you do that? I hope you will. Call 812-867-2418. We have God's ABCs for you to give to folk. Literally hundreds and hundreds of them have been sent out to people just like you who listen to the broadcast. Jesus is speaking. Do not say there are still four months and then comes the harvest. Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields for they are already white for harvest. John 435, New King James Version. Can you identify with that? It's harvest time in America. The fields are white, but harvesters are needed. Laborers have got to go into the harvest field. Will you do it? Will you appoint yourself as a committee of one to share the gospel? Will you find another prayer partner and will you look into God's Word and read it and heed it and then go with God's good news? I hope you will. If you don't know Jesus right now is the best time in the world for you to say God I've sinned and I'm sorry, please forgive me. Turn to the Lord Jesus Christ personally right now and be willing to stand up and be counted for Him. Receive the gift of God eternal life and confess your sins to Him and receive forgiveness. And then having done that go tell people. Call 812-867-2418 and get your copies of God's ABCs to share. They include Romans 10, 9 and 10. Call 812-867-2418. As you call, be willing to go and share Jesus. Every Saturday at 727 p.m. you are invited to attend a live youth event at Triple T, 13,000 US-41 North at Booneville in Harmony Road, Midway between I-64 and Evansville Regional Airport. Every first Saturday a good news club for ages 6 to 9 is available in a separate room. For more information call 812-867-2418 or visit www.tripletchristianyouth.org. [Music] We really are glad you're listening because we have a very, very special happening today. We have a special guest. His name is George Kell and he hails from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. And I just am thrilled that he's here today and I want to ask him some questions. You're going to learn a lot about somebody who really knows what it means to stay with the story and to keep the gospel going no matter what. So George, let us find out some things about you. You live in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania? I do. Did you always live there? No, I was from a rural town about 35 miles north of Harrisburg, but apart from schooling, I've been in the Harrisburg area for most of my life. Okay. And what was the name of your small town? Sherman's Dale, Perry County. All right. All right. We've got a Perry County in Illinois, got a Perry County in Indiana. I don't know if we have one in Kentucky or not. If we do, I don't know it. Anyway, Perry's a neat name for a county. So you were born there and then something happened to you along life's pathway when you had an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ. Tell us how that happened and where and when? In September of 1966, a homecoming queen from Boiling Springs High School invited me to a youth for Christ rally. Now, I'm not stupid and so I followed her there thinking that was going to be a date, but soon I realized that I wasn't really where I thought it was going to be. I walked into youth for Christ's rally and that night my life was changed forever. I received Christ and that night it was called into the gospel ministry and my life has never been the same since then. Oh, it happened simultaneously. Wow. Was that at Harrisburg? It was. One night. How about that? Isn't that amazing? Well, God's great and gracious and tremendous. I was going to ask you when you determined that God wanted you to serve him in ministry, but it sounds like it happened pretty abruptly. Pretty happily. That night it was a missionary meeting now. I was church but not really born again in the spirit of God and I knew what missionaries were all about. And I determined to sit as long as I possibly can in the middle of the event I asked Kellan if we could get out of there and she said, yeah, when it's over. And I realized that this wasn't a missionary kind of date from her, but we were there seeing missionaries. They were like people dressed in a jolly green giant's toilet paper, all kinds of spheres and I just really wanted to get out of there. But that night the gospel was shared in such a way that I understood it as I had never understood it before. And I knew that I was called to be a minister of the gospel and I determined that night that I would spend the rest of my life in youth ministry. And so I set off to do that. That's fantastic. And when and where did you meet Barb? I met her there at Youth for Christ as a matter of fact. Soon after I graduated from high school I determined to go to a Bible college so that with my degree I could come back and be on staff at Greater Harrisburg Youth for Christ. And I became involved and then in charge of the quiz program. And she was a Bible Quiser. The rules were that no one who was out of high school could date a high schooler. So I waited till after she was out of high school and on her 18th birthday I sent her 18 wrong stem roses. And she never speak to me again for nine months. So I had to convince her to chase me long enough for me to catch her. That's tremendous. That's quite a story. And what a delightful thing it has been to know you and Barb and your family across the years and to be with you there. I remember having the privilege of speaking at the rally there when you had a special anniversary. And Mary and I flew there. That was Mary's first time to ever fly into New York. And we landed at LaGuardia and she was able to see the Statue of Liberty right there from the airport. And we ate, I told her that airport food was very, very expensive. We went inside and sure enough right there was a McDonald's. So we had a wonderful meal and then we flew from there in the Harrisburg and had a great, great time with you. Now, you were involved in Bible quizzing, which is a really great ministry in itself. And somehow along life's pathway you began to do some things with drama. Tell us how that unfolded and how that all developed and then what all you've been doing with drama. We at the ministry use sports and music and drama to reach students for Christ. We believe those two universal languages. Most of the heroes that men and women follow today, young men and women or even older people, we choose to model our lives after those in the performing arts and those who are sports figures. And so we use both of them to reach a generation for Christ. Okay, now tell us about, I know probably the sports, I don't know which came first, the sports or the drama. But I know you've done both of them there. So tell us kind of how that unfolded the two together. My former director there was a sportsaholic. We had four or five athletic leagues going at the same time. Softball, baseball, basketball, soccer, all of that to reach a generation for Christ. And in the midst of that, way back in 1973, the musical "Alloluia" done by Bill Gather came out. And we got involved in music and drama there. We're now the largest independent ministry using music and drama. We do about 14 large productions every year. About two thirds of them are secular in nature. But everything that we do is geared to the gospel so that you could see your good man Charlie Brown one month. Les Misérables the next month, the passion play the next month, the book of Ruth another month. We have about 850 students every year who were involved on the stage in music and drama. We teach dance, drama and music, the three pillars of musical theater there. I've been privileged to be there and to see some of the musicals that George has produced. And it is just unbelievably outstanding and the high quality that's there. George, we've got listeners of various ages out here. And what we always want them to know is that every person, no matter who they are, has got something they can offer to the Lord. God does not hold back from us. He gives us things that we can develop for His glory. Talk to us a little bit about how to develop the talents that God's entrusted to us. How to ferret them out, how to find out what they are, then what to do about them and how to use them for His glory. Every person that I meet, I try, first of all, to decide, discover whether they are a believer in Christ. If they know Christ, then Scripture says that God has given them at least one spiritual gift for the edification, the building up of the body of Christ. And we try to ascertain what gift or gifts God has given them if they are believers. And then we try to find out what natural talents they have so that we can plug them in to become involved in the body of Christ and in music and drama, not only to reach this generation for Christ, and to build up the Church of Christ, but to reach those who are not yet believers. Everyone has something to contribute. Everyone needs to be involved so that everyone who comes through our doors, we want to be involved in some aspect of what there is to offer to the generations who are yet to come. And one of the things that I know you have been privileged to do is to share God's love with the people, even though they've come for a different reason than to hear the Gospel. But they've come in and they've understood just by almost osmosis working with those Christians that are involved and surrounding them. And so they see Christ in action in the hearts and lives of the people with whom they are working. And then you give them the opportunity to admit that they've sinned and to turn to Jesus from their sins, to believe on the Lord Jesus, and then to go tell the world about Him. Tell us how that works. Every large production has about 24, 3, or 3.5 hour rehearsals. Every time that the company meets together in a total company rehearsal, the Gospel was shared. Whatever the theme of the event is, is lifted from Scripture and they're confronted with the claims of the Gospel. Everyone is welcome. Everyone should feel at home. We hear it constantly that this is a place that everyone feels significant and secure. They're the greatest needs of a human being's life. To feel loved, to feel valued, and to feel safe. Many places students go, they don't feel safe, they don't feel loved, they don't feel cared for. Jesus Christ died so that every one of us might sense His love and know that we can be secure in Him both now and for all eternity. We have people of many different faiths who come and people of no faith at all who receive Christ as a result of the Gospel being shared. On the 13th of May of 2013, we began 1,000 days of prayer and action. Going toward God willing, February 6, 2016, when Triple T will be privileged to have our golden anniversary, 50 years of reaching teenagers for the Lord Jesus Christ. I've asked George to talk about their 50th anniversary and one of the things that he gave me advice about when they were getting ready for theirs was please take plenty of time to plan and get things going. So we did that following his advice and that's why we started 1,000 days in advance so that we can keep it moving forward day by day and week by week. So tell us about the 50th there at Greater Harrisburg and what all happened and how you put it together and what the results were. There were task forces created from each of the generations to reach back in history to remember the good things that God had done so that we could celebrate his faithfulness. There were an immense amount of time was spent planning celebrations that we thought would be appropriate for each of the generations, each of the decades and there were concerts planned, banquets planned and it was just a grand time of coming together in so many different formats that we thought would be timely for the people from different decades to celebrate God's faithfulness and then a huge concert at the end and it was about 15 months of celebrating. Good, well that's kind of what we're doing, we're excited about possibilities but we're learning a lot and we learned a lot talking with George about be sure that you start soon enough instead of all of a sudden it's here and so that's why we took the 1,000 days, actually that came from a book by Jonathan Falwell on the 1,000 days of Jesus ministry and so we thought wow, 1,000 days and we saw that it was just exactly right that's when the tabernacle opened in 2013, the Old Testament tabernacle and many people came to see it and so we keep on going and by the way it moved out of here last Saturday just a week ago and actually on Friday and Saturday and about 15 minutes before the macroburst came and poured out all of that water and all that wind the tractor pulled up to the trailer and pulled it under our driveway and it was just a God thing magnificently happening and so God's in charge, moment by moment and hour by hour and day by day and George one last question, what advice would you give to us as a ministry and the listeners to know how to reach people with the time, talent and treasure that God has entrusted, what's your advice? God has given every one of us who love the Lord as spiritual gift and natural talents and I'd encourage listeners to invest in the things of Christ only what you will do for Christ will last and as triple T approaches its 50th anniversary I'd encourage you to write letters of support, letters of reminiscing and God's faithfulness to get involved in every area of the ministry to support one another, pray for one another, reach to other friends in their point of interest so that the gospel might continue another 50 years through triple T ministries. Thank you George very much because we want to keep on not only reaching out into the future but right now every single day in this summer we're praying for God to bring us workers in the harvest field, Jesus said, "Pray the Lord of the harvest and send out labors into his harvest." He said, "The harvest is plentiful but the labors are few and again Jesus gave us a word and it is a wonderful word but it is a challenging word and this is what it is, listen carefully. He said, "Someone has said there are still four months and then comes the harvest. Behold, I say to you, if you will lift up your eyes and look at the fields they are already white for harvest." And we believe that God wants people to be involved and so we invite you to be a prayer partner with us to pray diligently. We're asking people to pray for four things. Number one, for people. Number two, dispels pray. R is resources. We need vehicles to take the people to the fairs, tents and all the things that go along with it. And thirdly, action. We need people to activate their influence. And lastly, you. What can you do for Jesus to help people understand the gospel? We have for you a free copy of God's Word. It's the Bible and it's yours for free by calling us. Area code 812-867-2418 or come tonight and we'll give it to you personally at the rally. 727 tonight. Christ through you can change the world.
