Telling The TRUTH
051813 Telling The Truth 28 Minute Program
[music] You're listening to "Telling the Truth" from Triple T. Christian Youth Ministries, "Telling the Truth to and through teenagers." Here is Triple T. founder and president, George Dooms. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. When God uses the word "watch" in His Word, He is endeavoring to get our attention. Listen, watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man. Luke 21, 36, New King James Version. When you are watching, God wants you to understand that things are happening that you need to know about. Are you aware? Then keep watching and keep standing. Stand therefore, having your loins heard about was truth. God wants us to know the truth and to tell the truth to people who need to know the truth. And that's everybody everywhere who don't know Jesus. They need to be able to stand before the Son of Man. You can, if you have believed on the Lord Jesus. But meanwhile, don't stand alone, but stand on the promises of God and believe not only on Him, but also so much in Him that you will share your faith in Christ with those who need to know Him. Pray with other believers, read the Word of God, and then go with the gospel. Someone is waiting. Are you going to tell them? To admit that they've sinned, to believe on Christ, to confess Him publicly? Are you sometimes so perplexed and puzzled that you hardly know how to pray or what to say to the Lord? Let Him be your guide. Read His Word. Do what His Word says. Romans 826, New King James says, "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses, for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." In times of despair, loneliness, difficulties, just get alone with the Lord, and let Him speak with you. Words are never always necessary because God can hear the heart. He knows everything about you. He sees down deep inside you. So allow yourself to be open to Him and let Him make you usable and use you. Let Him speak to you and then through you to others when you were in tune with Him. God has a plan for your life. Let Him be your guide today and every day. Do you know God's ABCs? Admit you sin, believe on Christ, confess Him publicly. We have copies with the Scriptures to give to you to give to others. So write our call and we'll send you your very own ABCs to share. Although Paul was speaking to the Christians at Philippi, allow these words from God's Word to be applied directly to your need today. Philippians 1, 9 and 10, New King James Version says, And this I pray that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and in all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ. Isn't that wonderful? Know that you are being prayed for in this way, that you may abound more and more in knowledge. How do you get knowledge? You read the Word of God. The Proverbs tell us that's how to get wisdom. Discernment. Find out who the good guys are and those who claim to be good but really aren't. That you may approve the things that are excellent. There are good things going on, but you must determine which are and which aren't. Be sincere without offense, but be in tune with the Lord all the time, so much so that you will love Him enough to read His Word and talk with Him. Pray with others and tell others about Him. Again, we want to help you. We'll send you God's ABCs to plan of salvation in printed form for you to share with your friends, just write or call. If indeed you have trusted Jesus, these three words can change all of your tomorrows. All of them, listen, pray without ceasing. First Thessalonians 5, 17, New King James. Let me repeat those three little words. Pray without ceasing. In everything you do, be in an attitude of prayer. Don't do anything. Don't go any place that God can't hear you when you pray. Be in fellowship with Him consistently. Read His Word and do what His Word says. What God's Word tells you to do, do. Then as you do this, pray for other people. Pray by name, pray specifically. Ask God to meet needs, not just your needs, but also other people who have needs. Everyone needs the Lord. Are you praying for those who need Him? Are you praying with those who know Him, so that together you can go to others with the good news? Again, pray without ceasing means that you are not going to do anything that displeases God in your actions, in your thoughts, in your circumstances. The attitude of prayer can saturate everything that happens to you. Pray, pray now, pray tomorrow. Don't stop praying. Paul, God's special servant, is asking the Christians in Thessalonica to do what I am asking you to do today. First Thessalonians 5, 25, New King James says, brethren, pray for us. Will you do that? Our ministry reaches teenagers, but we need prayer. Pray for us as we continue to share the gospel with radio billboards, Saturday night use evangelism events, going to county fairs, having people tour a life-size replica of the Old Testament tabernacle, moving in every direction God leads us, but we need people alongside to invest time, and talent, and treasure to pray. Brethren, that you, if you're a believer, pray for us. If you have needs in your heart, in your life, in your situation, let us pray for you. It's a privilege to pray. When we pray for one another, let's believe that God hears and answers prayer. Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, lean not in your own understanding, in all of your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know. God has an answer. He has a word in His word for you. Read it and heed it. Do you like history? I like to know who did what, when, where, and why. The Book of Hebrews is more than a history book. It tells us what God has done through people, and what He will do through us, if we will avail ourselves of the words of wisdom that He provides. Hebrews 13, 18, New King James Version says, "Pray for us, for we are confident "that we have a good conscience in all things "desiring to live honorably." Can you say that? I had to really make certain, before I shared this with you, that my heart is in tune with the Lord, that my slate at this moment is clean, so then I can ask you to pray for us. Prayer changes things and people. The biggest need we have in the ministry that we call telling the truth, is for more people to be involved. Labor is in God's harvest field. People willing to invest their time, their talents, their treasure, so the ministry can be multiplied and can help more people hear God's good news. We want to challenge you to be a faith-sharer, as well as a faith-prayer. So pray for us, and let us pray for you. And then, read God's word. Will you share His word? Will you pray with others who believe, and will you go to those who don't? May I pray a prayer for you? Third John is a dynamic book, only one chapter. Listen to verse two, New King James. Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. Let me analyze that for just a moment. Is your soul prospering? Are you growing in Christ? Are you moving in the direction that He would have you to go? Are you fellowshiping with other believers? Are you reading the word of God? Are you really, really growing in Christ? If so, then I pray that you may prosper in everything in your life, including your health. I would like to pray for you specifically, but you will have to let me know what your requests are. God knows your heart, He knows your circumstance. Let me say this to you. The prayers of folk like you keep us going with the gospel. We are privileged to share God's good news where you are listening today and other stations across the country. But we are concerned about you as an individual. And as we go with the gospel where we are, where God opens doors, we want to pray for you to prosper. So invest your time, talent and treasure, and watch God multiply your ministry. There is somebody waiting for you to share the gospel with them. We have God's ABCs for you, write our call today. ♪ Every Saturday at 7.27 p.m. you are invited to attend a live youth event at Triple T. 13,000 US-41 North at Booneville and Harmony Road, midway between I-64 and Evansville Regional Airport. Every first Saturday, a good news club for ages six to nine is available in a separate room. For more information, call 812-867-2418 or visit www.tripletchristianyouth.org. ♪ As I said just a little while ago, prayer changes things in people. Prayer is one of the wonderful privileges we have as Christians. And I have a gentleman in the office now, here in the studio, and we're going to be talking with Steve Peterson. And he is the object of my prayers every day, along with his wife, Gay, his son Timothy and his daughter, Faith, plus a lot of other people. But I start out every day praying for people who are serving the Lord. Steve, it's a delight to have you back at Triple T, and we're looking forward to having you back even more during the summer. You're here to set up the Old Testament tabernacle. How's it going? That was going really well. The sun was shining today and our crew was very excited to get started. And for those who haven't seen it, it's going to be a joy for this area to be able to see a life-size replica of the Old Testament tabernacle. And I'm glad to be back. Our family enjoyed being here with our team two years ago. And we're thrilled to be able to plan to come back this summer. We're glad that you are. By the way, the Old Testament tabernacle opens officially today for the grand opening. And this is a very special day. It's a Tiger Team training day and day for training adult coaches. And we're getting ready for the fairs this summer and all the things that guys are going to do just a few days ago. We started to count down on May the 13th, going to February 6, 2016, the Golden Anniversary. And we're asking God to give us a thousand people praying every day. And we're hoping that you'll be one of those prayer partners, a prayer warrior. And we hope that today you will understand the necessity of asking God to do something wonderful and watching Him work marvelously. Steve, I know that prayer is the undergirding factor of everything that happens in Teen Missions International, Third World Missions, Motorcycle Sunday School Mission, AIDS Orphans and Street Children, Triple T. Christian Youth Ministries, and all of the affiliates of Youth of Angels and Association and on and on and on. But let me ask you a quick question if I could. And I'm going to put you really, really in a situation where you just have to be totally open and honest. And I know you will be. Have you prayed for Triple T and Mary and Tammy and James and me ever in your life before today? We've prayed for you before. We always pray for our hosts when we're going on our trips to go serve the Lord with our teen teams. And we're excited to be able to be coming back here. And so we are actually praying for each of the, as you are, we're praying 24 hours a day for 40, for 1000 hours, 40 days about leading up to our summer trips. And so each team is being prayed for each day and all the kids are being prayed for. And they've got the projects, the host missionaries are printed on our cards. So Lord willing, the ministry up here should be getting prayed for at least once a day, every day leading up to the summer. And we appreciate you very much, there's ministries that have a similar heart in not only discipling youth, but seeing them active in sharing their faith. And that's one of the things that brings Teen Missions and Triple T together. Well, we've been working together for a long, long time. We're a little bit older than Teen Missions. We started in 1966 and TMI started in 1970. And for 10 years, I didn't even go down there because I wasn't invited. I really didn't know much about it. But we began to connect in 1979, 1980. And in 1980, I was a boot camp speaker. When they didn't have a different speaker each night, I spoke every night for three weeks. Which was, and also I did a morning Bible hour during that three weeks period. We had holes to fill and we were glad to have people willing to help serve. And that was when I got to meet your parents. And your dad invited me to come to Colorado to speak at the Christian school, where he was the headmaster. And then he decided to serve the Lord of Teen Missions and I never did get to go to Colorado. But that's okay. And your parents have been very, very special in our hearts and lives. And we have a very oneness in spirit and your sister, your brother-in-law, Rob. But anyway, it's a team effort and it's a situation where we kind of call it a family. And Bob and Bernie and Mary and I have been friends before there was a Teen Mission, before there was a Triple T. We go way back. Well, and your support has reached all the way around the world. I know that our bases in Africa have rescue units reaching hundreds, thousands of orphans and many of those who are sponsored through your ministry have seen them in our prayer closet as we pray. The one in Cameroon, we get pictures from there in the one in Uganda and of course we also sponsor 12 Motorcycle Sunday School Mission Outposts, I guess you would call them Outposts. And hundreds of kids are coming through those each week. And it's a delight. And of course, I've had the privilege of being at Teen Missions at the boot camp every summer since 1980. And Bob called me and said, "Tell me when you want to come before I fill in the other blanks." And what a privilege to be the first one asked. So he said, "I don't want somebody else to be booked at the time that you can come." Because he knows what I do is I fly home. I ride down with Tammy, who is the attorney for Teen Missions International and all of the entities and then she stays for a couple of weeks. But I fly home for Saturday night and I'm here for a week and a second Saturday, then I get an airplane fly back to boot camp for super boot camp and then we get in the car and come back up here so that we're here before your team gets here to get everything ready for the fairs. But what a wonderful thing it is to watch God work. Let's talk about the tabernacle for a minute. All those folk who are listening are invited to come and take a look today and any day between now and the 17th of October is going to be up for five months and we're hoping to have people coming all the time. We have what we call an ongoing impact through Triple T Christian Youth Ministries that began on Saturday night the 4th of February of 1966 and we've never missed a single Saturday. And we're moving toward our 2,500 consecutive Saturday God willing on December 28 of this year. But meanwhile, we're thrilled about the tabernacle and we're going to be having the ongoing impact daily now, every day, Monday through Friday from 9 o'clock to 4 o'clock and then by appointment on Saturdays and Sundays all the way through the middle of October. And meanwhile, we'll be going to county fairs, we'll be going where some of you are and we're going to come to your county and we're going to be sharing the gospel there and hopefully Steve and his family will be with us and we'll be out there among them. Last year we were in 15 different counties during our ministry year. This year our goal is to go to 31 or 1/3 of the 93 counties within 100 miles and of course we're not limited there. We're going to be hosting the Youth Evangelism Association Convention and Youth Workers Intensive Training from the 14th of October through the 17th of October and that will be the last day to tour the tabernacle so don't wait till last minute. Get involved, come today or tomorrow or sometime really, really soon so you can see it, tell your friends about it and go from there. Steve, tell us for just a little bit about the tabernacle and what it takes to put this replica out for people to see. Well, the tabernacle is traveling in a full-size semi-truck trailer and so it's a very heavy very large display. In the Bible days over 22,000 Levites were required to carry it through the Sinai Peninsula. It takes a lot of work, it's very heavy and of course the real tabernacle was overlaid with gold. Ours is not gold but it looks like it's still very heavy so it's actually a lot of fun to put up, a lot of work but there is so much when you read through Exodus and Leviticus and sometimes in your devotions you see all those diagrams and sometimes it can be hard to read all those dimensions and so when you walk through a life-size replica and you actually see the dimensions of the courtyard, the furnishings from the brazen altar to the labor, entering the holy place and seeing the altar of incense and the candlestick, it starts to really make it come alive and when you realize the meaning of the placement of the articles and what they were used for and how Christ is really in every aspect of the tabernacle, when you look at the design of the tabernacle you're looking forward to the coming of Christ and the work that he was doing on the cross and so it's something for a Bible student, it's something to bring people who you would like to introduce to the Lord and so we're really excited. I just picked up a book today, Seeing Christ in the Tabernacle, says Jesus lives, he's typified in every piece. This book was given to us, it's inscribed to George and Mary, you helped us see Jesus in your explanation of the tabernacle, thank you. This is from a couple of their daughters that came all the way up from Knoxville, Tennessee to see the tabernacle the last time we had it here back in 2009 and I'm sure they'll be back because they have relatives in the area. We had people, Steve, from a number of different states, I think it was six or seven states that came the last time we had it here and we hosted it and we're excited about again not just the tabernacle but all of the things that we were able to do as people come and sharing Jesus and inviting them to admit that they have sinned to believe on the Lord Jesus to confess him publicly. We had a young man that was with us in the ministry very recently and we did a thing called Hosanna Highway and when the message was given, "Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world," he started to giggle and he said, "I don't understand." He said, "We raise lambs on our farm and how can a lamb be God?" Now, I didn't know that that had happened. He was on a tour and when it came to where I was doing the wrap-up, I was talking about the sacrifices of the tabernacle and how Hebrews explains that we don't have the blood of bulls and goats now, we have only the blood of Jesus Christ of once and for all sacrifice it didn't have to happen again and again and this young man said, "You mean they killed animals?" He had no background whatsoever but he had been coming to Triple T on Saturday nights and at the end of that presentation he got very sober, he listened carefully and one of our board members was able to lead him to Jesus. He's been back nearly every Saturday and he has questions because it's all new to him but he's learning and he's reading the Word of God and he's able to ascertain some things that he didn't even have any clue about previously and that's part of our ministry, it's not just soul-winning but it is discipling and putting people into a local Bible-believing church in Sunny School and youth group where they can grow in Christ and have fellowship with other believers of their own age and so we're excited about the fact that the gospel will be presented in the tabernacle at every single showing. Last time I don't remember how many it was at Mental Lord but it was lots and we understand that there were more people coming to Jesus through our having the tabernacle hosted here than any of the other places and I guess that's because that's who we are, that's what we do, we do the work of an evangelist and we share the gospel and it's the most important thing that we do and Steve I know that you have had the privilege of being everywhere, it's kind of interesting that you get to come back to Triple T we hope this summer but last summer you were with your parents I believe in Zambia, right, and I always have to remember which is Z we're talking about with the Teen Visions people but so tell us again how we can pray not only for your family and for the tabernacle happening in Triple T but for Teen Visions International worldwide how can we how can we really go to the throne of grace about this we've got about a minute to talk about this alright well for sure we want to pray in the ministry here the tabernacle that the people that come through here will be touched their hearts would be open and we see many souls one we're excited about that as far as our family goes I think anytime you're thinking about people in missions and doing frontline ministry we we share in our newsletters all the praise reports but there's a lot of heartache there's a lot of weariness and discouragements that we don't often share and anyone who's trying to serve the Lord faces those and so we'd appreciate prayer for strength for unity on our team and our leadership and for boldness for the young people that they'd realize that God can use them to do much more than they ever thought they could around the world we need prayer for labors for the harvest we have over 20 bases around the world trying to reach over 10,000 orphans 25 Bible schools around the world and a lot of souls being discipled but that takes a lot of manpower so we'd appreciate prayer for that that a lot of enemy attacks lot of spiritual warfare so we'd appreciate prayer for that as well I want to ask you another quick question I know that you already said over 20 I think it's 28 bases that the in missions has how many of those bases have you been privileged to go and have a minister there or do you have your kept count I have not kept counts sir I suppose probably close to 20 I don't think there's many bases I have not been to or at least countries you know some of our locations we have many places but that's a blessing and God let you know when you want to serve the Lord he oftentimes blesses you more than you ever could have imagined before you started and so last year was very special we were in Zambia my kids got to see where grandma and grandpa serve we don't see them every year we're not often not together for Christmas but it was very fun to see the rescue units in Zambia and have a team that was excited to be there as well one of the privileges we've had of working with team missions is having people from every one of the continents here and sending teenagers from here to every one of the continents and lots and lots of countries and so we are in this thing together and we are praying for one another and you who are listening we want you to know that you will have a blessing and a blessing and more blessings when you come to see the tabernacle don't forget Christ through you can change the world every saturday at 7 27 p.m. you are invited to attend a live youth event at triple T 13 000 us 41 north at boondville near harmony road midway between i 64 and Evansville regional airport every first saturday a good news club for ages six to nine is available in a separate room for more information call eight one two eight six seven two four one eight or visit www dot triple t christian youth dot org for your free copy of the telling the truth newsletter call eight one two eight six seven two four one eight eight one two eight six seven two four one eight or write triple T 13 000 us 41 north Evansville indiana four seven seven two five tune in to tell in the truth next week at the same time on this same station [MUSIC PLAYING]
