Telling The TRUTH
022313 Telling The Truth 28 Minute Program
[music] You're listening to Telling the Truth from Triple T Christian Youth Ministries, Telling the Truth to and through teenagers. Here is Triple T founder and president George Dooms. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray. Seek God's will. Set your goals. You cannot out give God, so determine what God wants you to do, investing your time, your talent, and your treasure for His glory. Listen to Luke 638, New King James Version. Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, press down, shake it together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. Understand what it means, that God is going to press it down and shake it together. When this happens, your goals can become closer and closer to reality. When you give to God, when you invest yourself, your own time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, God entrusts to you. It's what you do with what you have that counts. Reinvest for Him. Secondly, your talents. God has entrusted to you opportunities and responsibilities. Fair out those talents and develop them for His glory and your treasure. Whatever you have, give some of it to God. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. So set your goals according to the Word of God and watch God multiply you. Find a prayer partner. Pray with that partner, for those who don't know Jesus. Read God's Word again. Set your goals. Make sure that you are striving for that which would please God. Watch it happen. Acts 24 16, New King James says. This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and man. Make sure that everything is okay in your relationship with the Lord and with others. And when you do this, as you strive toward having this kind of pure, clean, clear conscience, God will bless you and He will make you usable and He will use you. So as you set goals to do what God would be pleased for you to endeavor to accomplish for Him, do it prayerfully, seeking His will as you go. Find a prayer partner, someone who is a believer in Christ and with that person pray together for you and that person or persons to know and do the will of God. Set goals together to reach people to keep evangelizing youth. We have this moment. We have this day so let's use what we have for His glory. Read the Word of God. Run the plan of salvation, learn those verses that share the gospel clearly and expressively and then take the gospel to someone who needs to know Jesus. Share Romans 3, 23, Romans 6, 23, John 3, 16 and Romans 10, 9 and 10. You can, will you? Set a goal to be all God wants you to be. Strive in the direction He wants you to go. Listen to Romans 15, 30, New King James Version. Now I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ and through the love of the Spirit that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me. Paul is asking the church at Rome to do this and he wants you and me to do this also for each other. He wants us to pray for one another, to pray together, to strive together in our praying and to understand that as we pray we can expect results. God does hear and answer prayer, but He wants us to have the faith factor in effect so that we believe in advance what we pray is going to be happening and transpiring. So determine for whom you need to pray and then pray with believers who need to be drawn closer to the Lord to do the work of an evangelist with you. To go to people who are not yet believers who need to know Jesus. With those believers, read the Word of God together and then share the gospel with those who need to know the Lord. Pray and strive together for each other and for us, for the glory of God. Again, take the gospel, clearly present it and let people listen to the Word of God and respond. Olympians set outlandish goals and they force themselves to practice, to put them in the right position to accomplish their goals. Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. When you strive to do God's will, when you set a goal to win the most possible people you can to Jesus, to be all that you can be for God's glory, he will bless you abundantly. So again, pray with someone that you trust and who trusts you. And together determine to follow God's will and his Word. Read together 1 Corinthians 9, especially verses 24 and 25, and then determine to run the race, to go with the gospel, and to watch God work wonderfully as you share Jesus with people who need to know him. Listen again to God's Word. Everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown, it's available to you. Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you are an absent, I may hear of your affairs that you stand fast in one spirit with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, Philippians 1.27, New King James, striving together for the faith of the gospel, one spirit and one mind. That's the way the body of believers ought to have happening in their hearts and minds and circumstances consistently. Are you fellowshipping with other believers? Do you have one spirit and one mind? Are you standing fast? Are you striving together for the faith of the gospel? Are you really understanding what it means to not only believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, but to tell others how they too, by admitting they have sinned, turning to Jesus from their sins, believing on him, receive his gift, the gift of God, eternal life, through Christ Jesus? It can happen. So as we pray together, as we work together, then let us go together with the gospel to people who need to know the Lord. You can, if you will. There is nobody better than you to take the gospel to the folk who respect you and who know you. So go. Praying, seeking God's will and setting goals is scriptural. Listen to Philippians 3, 12, 13 and 14, New King James. Not that I have already attained or am already perfected, but I press on that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also has laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended, but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. There you have it. What we are to strive for is the furtherance of the gospel and to obtain the prize that comes to us as soulwinners. He who wins souls, the Bible says, is wise. We need to know that God can make us usable and use us if we set our goals according to His will. God is not willing to finish it perish, but He is willing it all should come to repentance. So our goal should be to get the gospel to people, to keep evangelizing youth, to share the plan of salvation, to let people know that God has a plan, that Christ died for our sins, that He was buried, and He rose again, and now He wants to invade the heart, the life, the total person of everyone who will trust Jesus. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily. Colossians 1, 28, 29, New King James Version. If the Apostle Paul was striving for God's glory to work the work that God had called Him to do, shouldn't we? I believe so. The mission of Triple T. Christian Youth Ministries is to communicate Christianity to and through teenagers, to win them to Christ and train them for Christ, teaching them how to share their faith, through their local churches, on their campuses, throughout their communities, and into their world, wherever God leads them in their future. Wherever you are, you can pray. Pray for the youth who need Jesus, and as we keep evangelizing youth, God can use that key to unlock the heart of people who need Jesus. Pray. Read the Word of God. Do what the Word of God says to do, and do it with love, and with compassion for those who don't know Him. Pray together with other believers, reading the Word of God together. Pray together diligently for those who don't know Him, and then share God's glorious gospel. Do it today. Every Saturday at 7.27 p.m. you are invited to attend a live youth event at Triple T, 13,000 US-41 North at Booneville and Harmony Road, midway between I-64 and Evansville Regional Airport. The first Saturday, a good news club for ages 6 to 9, is available in a separate room. For more information, call 812-867-2418 or visit www.tripletchristianyouth.org. Set your goals. When God designed you, He designed you as a goal-setting person. Setting goals, setting goals of all kinds, and when you set your goals, you are more unlikely to reach the goals than if you don't set them. Is goal-setting biblical? Does it please God for us to set goals? Listen again to Philippians 3, 12, 13, and 14 that you just heard a little while ago. It bears repeating. Not that I have already attained or am already perfected, but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended, but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Is goal-setting scriptural? Yes it is. And the Bible talks about setting goals, reaching for prizes, moving in the direction that God would have us to go. And so we're going to set some goals today. We're going to set some goals in our own person, and then some goals of outreach. Personal goals are in four areas. First, physical. Set the goal to be the best physical specimen you can be. Take care of the body God has entrusted to you. Be the price to develop it and make it great for God's glory. Modeling exercise profits little, but it does profit a little. So use your body wisely and don't abuse it other than to bring it into subjection. So take care of the body you have because you've got to go full speed forward for God's glory if you're going to reach youth for Christ. Second, think on right things. Think often. Think clearly. Do write things. Do write things with your mind. Set goals to become as smart as you can become. One of the things I have tried to do is to learn to read rapidly because the more rapidly I can read and retain the information I have read, the more information I can intake and then present to others, right? And so learn some things and express to God your desire to become as mentally alert as God would be pleased for you to become. Use your smarts, use your brain, use your mind, develop it to the ultimate for God's glory. And one of the great ways to develop your mind is to read and memorize Scripture. Memorize God's Word. Psalm 23 is a great exercise in Scripture memory and it will help you to understand who God is. I've set some goals regarding Psalm 23. I want to share these with you as we talk about the mental now. Most words of Psalm 23 are, "The Lord is my shepherd." And I take each of those words and emphasize those words. The Lord is my shepherd. There is one Lord and one God, one mediator between man and God, and that's the man Christ Jesus. The Lord is my shepherd. Yes, the Lord is my shepherd. Live on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Make him Lord of your life. The Lord is my shepherd. The Lord is my shepherd. It's not something that was or something that will be. He is now my shepherd and he wants to continue to be my shepherd and so the Lord is my shepherd. Then we personalize it. The Lord is my shepherd. In a very intimate way God speaks to my heart through his word and his will can be revealed through his word and he will lead me in paths of righteousness for his namesake. The Lord is my shepherd. The Lord is my shepherd. He will be leading. He will be guiding if I give him that right, if I give him that opportunity. I will allow him to be my leader, my guide, my shepherd, so we can exercise the mental prowess that God has entrusted to us and we can be as smart as God would have us to be. God wants us to develop and he wants us to set goals in those areas. Third, then there are the social goals to set. Socially speaking, you should meet everybody that you can and you should have a good relationship with those people. Men, women, you are a social creature and so get involved with other people but be careful not to abuse that social life of yours. Don't go do say or be anything that would displease God. Fourth, set your goals spiritually. Become as much like Jesus as you can become. My goal in life is to be like Christ, to be like Jesus. Now I fail, I fall short, I am way, way, way weak in looking at his strengths. But as close as I can come to him, I try to do that. And if I can become more like Jesus, I will set the goal to become what God would have me to become. Christian means Christ like and we are to emulate the Lord Jesus. We're to pattern our lives after him and once we have done this, then we can begin to reach out to other people and goal setting becomes very, very important. As we talk about setting goals, we also talk about finding God's will. Goals are interesting things and I hope that you are willing to seek God's will in all of these areas. I hope that you will seek God's will in that first one that we talked about, the physical and the mental, then the social and especially the spiritual. Inside every person there is a desire to please God. Sometimes we ignore that desire and we do things that are displeasing to him. But once we have admitted we have sinned personally and said, "God, I am sorry that I have fallen short of your expectations of me. I have sinned against you and others." When we turn to Jesus from those sins, God will forgive us. Here's how it works. The Bible says all have sinned. You have, I have, everybody has. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. There is none righteous, no not one. All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned each one to his own way and the Lord has laid upon him the iniquity, the sin, the short coming of us all. And so we first of all recognize and realize and tell God we are sorry for our sins. And then we embrace Jesus Christ, the Christ who came to save sinners, who died for our sins, who was buried, who rose again on the third day and who is now interceding at the right hand of God the Father as we pray. And that's why we pray in Jesus' name. And once we have established a relationship with God, he wants us to tell others, if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved with the heart when believes to righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. The vision that God has given us as a ministry is that every youth should have the opportunity to hear the gospel with an invitation to believe when the Lord Jesus Christ before turning 20. And as we go from county to county and state to state and place to place, we share the gospel. Every Saturday night at triple T at 727 it happens. And God has been gracious and good and wonderful and we have been privileged to serve him and to follow him. Oh, we've made a lot of mistakes. We've stubbed our toes more than once, but God has been the great forgiver. If we confess our sins, he is willing and faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We had a desire to come here, to start a ministry. We believe that God would have us to do that, a door had opened to us and that door that opened to us suddenly shut. Why? Because we brought over a thousand kids together in one place at one time and the person who was going to throw in the towel and quit said, "I'm not going to quit now." And so we were on the outside looking in instead of on the inside looking out. And so we had to go back to the basics and we had to go back to square one. We had to pray and pray and pray some more. And so God shut that door. He shut that door back in 1963, but he opened another door. He opened the door in Texas and so Mary and I moved. We had always wanted children. We had trusted God with someday give us children. And as we moved to Texas, we found out that Mary was expecting a baby. We were thrilled. We were delighted, excited. And so we were able to have that baby in the womb growing. And then suddenly it was too late. And the baby was coming prematurely. We had to rush Mary to the hospital and the baby only lived four days and we never got to hold her. She was in an incubator the whole time. That was a devastating time, a heartbreaking time for us, for we had waited so long. And yet God drew us to Him and to each other to trust Him completely. Now I will always remember the night that Mary said, "It's okay. God's going to give us the desires of our heart." And He did. And if you'll stay tuned, I'm going to tell you the miracles that God provided in the persons of two little babies, one at a time, 16 months apart. God has been gracious and good and I want you to hear the rest of the story. So stay tuned. The Lord allowed us to live in Waco, Texas for two years. And February 23 was a very special day. I had been speaking in Denver, Colorado, flew back home and waited until that day that God gave us, Tammy Lee Dooms, the day's her birthday. Today Tammy Lee is an attorney, a CPA, the Vice President of Christian Youth Ministry triple T, the President of Youth of Anzem Association, and a remarkable young lady serving the Lord full time in all kinds of ways with the things that God's entrusted to her. It's been a wonderful thing to have happened and when we moved here, we found out again like when we moved to Texas that Mary was expecting. This time God did so many special things, it's unbelievable. The very first night we were here, the first Saturday of February, a doctor came from Vincennes. He had heard about our ministry and he wanted to find out what was going on. We only had two teenagers here that night, but he got interested. Then he found out that Mary was expecting and he called and he said, "I understand you have no insurance. I understand that you don't have any way to take care of this baby on the way, so I'm going to ask you if I could have the privilege of taking care of the prenatal ministry for Mary. If she'll come to Vincennes, then I would like to deliver that baby for God's glory." That baby is sitting on the other side of the microphone today, James Lawson Dooms. Now using all of his training in video and audio and being able to accomplish things for God's glory. Not only is James doing that, but he also is married and the father of four. We're thrilled that God has answered prayer when we had no children and God took Linda Ray away after just four days. But then he gave us Tammy and then he gave us James. Then he gave James Yvonne and then he gave them four, Catherine and Bennett and Drennan and Mayley. And now God is giving us multiple, multiple children, not of our own, but God's children who are being born again through our ministry. And it's a wonderful thing to watch God work as he is doing. Our objective is to partner in youth evangelism with local congregations and ministries challenging and training youth as tigers, teens involved, going, evangelizing regularly. Tiger Team Impact Evangelistic Youth Efforts happen as God opens doors. This coming week, we're going to be having another Tiger Team Impact at a church right down the road from Triple T. You'll be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, February 26th, 27th, 28th, with Cowboy Lee Hamoke as our special guest. Tonight at Triple T, we're celebrating the 47 years of ministry God has given us here. And we're going to have a little bit of a special celebration because it's Tammy's birthday too. And so it's been a great, great, wonderful happening day after day in February. And we've already seen many people hear the gospel and at least 11 of them have responded to the invitation to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. We need you to pray with us and for us and consider being a Tiger Teammate. God has given us some desires, some dreams, some hopes on the horizon. And so we're putting together our extreme dream team. It's going to be the next three years as we move toward year 50, God willing of Triple T. And we have set some goals and we believe that God will be pleased for us to have those goals become reality. But you be watchful in all things. Indoor afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. God has a plan for you. We're excited about the possibilities that are out there as we have people that become encouragers and enlargers and expanders. And as this happens, we're going to watch the Lord do magnificent things for His glory. Again, you're invited to have a part of all of this. We sure would like to have you come tonight. 727, we're located four miles north of Evansville Regional Airport, four miles south of I-64, right on Highway 41, at move on the Harmony Road. If you can't possibly come tonight, why don't you drop us a line or at least check the website and find out more about us and find out how you can be one of our Tiger teammates. I hope you will. You can pray and you can give and hopefully you can attend and learn more about what God has done is doing and wants to do as we work together to accomplish God's purpose and His will for our lives. Will you pray? Will you give? Will you come? I hope so. Christ through you can change the world.
