Telling The TRUTH
020913 Telling The Truth 28 Minute Program
[MUSIC PLAYING] You're listening to "Telling the Truth" from Triple T. Christian Youth Ministries, "Telling the Truth to and Through Teenagers." Here is Triple T. founder and president, George Dooms. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer changes things and people. Jesus told us to pray. A specific prayer that he gave is Matthew 103738, New King James Version. Then he said to his disciples, the harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. People need the Lord, and people who know the Lord need to be able to tell people who don't know him how they can come to Christ. How does this happen? When people like you have a compassion for others and are willing to be a harvester, plant the seeds, the gospel seeds. Plant Romans 323, plant Romans 623, plant John 3 16, plant Romans 10, 9, and 10. And let people know that God's Word is totally true. And if they will admit, they have sinned, and turn to Jesus from their sins, and believe on the Lord Jesus, they can have their sins forgiven, and they can have life, abundant life, that lasts forever. The beginning point is turning to Jesus from sins, and somebody has to tell them how. Would you be that person? Will you get somebody to pray with you for the harvest and for other laborers in the harvest? I hope you will. You can be a labor for God today. Listen to Matthew 2641, New King James. Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The Spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. If that's you, then pray diligently, and watch out for the temptations that are going to surround you. But know that he that is in you is greater than he who is in the world. So God in you make a majority. And when you pray and read God's Word, and believe God's Word, and when you abide in God's Word, and when you put God's Word into effect, wonderful things are going to happen, not only for you, but for the people for whom you are concerned. Get a prayer partner, someone to pray with you, then to help you. Not to give in, to temptation, but to watch and pray. You pray for that person, and together as believers, Christ can make a difference. Pray for one another, and then pray for people who don't know Jesus. Together reading God's Word, praying, fellowshipping, and being willing to go with the gospel to people who need the Lord, God can make you usable, and he can use you. But pray, and pray, and pray some more. And while you are praying, watch. Remember, God answers prayer. He will change hearts and lives when you pray. Believing always precedes receiving. When you pray, pray by faith. Mark 11, 24, New King James Version says, "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them and you will have them." Did you get that? As I said earlier, believing precedes receiving. If you are going to pray, you need to do it expectantly. You need to do it with the faith that God is going to answer that prayer specifically as it pleases him. We don't pray to please ourselves. We pray and act and live if we are believers to please God. And God is not willing that any should perish, but he is willing that all should come through repentance. So what God wants you and me to do is, first of all, make certain that we have confessed our sins to him. That we have thanked him for that forgiveness. That we are asking him to make us usable and to use us to do something to glorify him. Pray with other believers, and after fellowshipping with them and reading God's word together, then take the plan of salvation to someone who needs the Lord. Tell them simply, Jesus loves them. He died for them. He was buried and he rose again, and he wants to present to them the gift of God eternal life. There's a very special scripture that should get our attention focused on the Lord in a direct way. Mark 1333. New King James, listen. Take heed, watch and pray, for you do not know when the time is. None of us know what is going to happen tomorrow or even the rest of today, but God does. We know the one who holds the future. And so if we trust him, if we place ourselves in his hands, he will direct us consistently and he will help us to know what to do and when and where to do it. The Bible says, take heed. Don't just read the word of God, but heed it. Watch and pray. Know what's going on around you. Look out at the wicked world and know that God is greater. Pray diligently that God will help you redeem the time. For you do not know when the time is when your last breath will be taken, when your last opportunity will pass. You have this moment. You have today. And so while you do, let's do all we can together to pray and to go with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Someone is waiting for you to tell them Jesus saves. In Matthew, Jesus was talking to his disciples when he asked them to pray about the harvest and laborers in God's harvest. In Luke 10, 2, New King James Version, again, Jesus is presenting a challenge this time, not to just 12, but to 70, that he is sending out two by two. Listen. Then he said to them, the harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. This is total speculation, but I really believe that when God asked those 12 to pray for harvesters, that they did pray, and then that they had the privilege of seeing 70 go as Jesus appointed them to go before where he was going to be going himself. And they were challenged, and they were commissioned, and they went with God's word. So today, pray for others to join you in the harvest and then go yourself with God's glorious gospel. Take the word of God to people, pray with other harvesters, and then make it happen as you share the good news of the saving power of the Lord Jesus Christ with people who need the Lord. It's really your decision, your determination, whether or not you're going to help with the harvest. Will you? Love is in the air. The Bible says God is love. Listen to 1 Thessalonians 5, 16, and 17, New King James Version. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Yes, God loves you, and God has a plan for your life, and He wants you to rejoice, to praise Him, to give honor and glory to Him. And then to pray diligently all the time, never stop praying. Pray under every circumstance, wherever you are, whatever you are doing, pray, pray, and pray some more. God hears and answers prayer. Then in everything give thanks. Thank Him, for this is His will. God has been so great and gracious to you, and He wants you to acknowledge that back to Him with thanksgiving. And give thanks to God for everybody He has put into your life. Those who have made a significant difference for you. Pray for the people you have fellowshiped with, who are believers, and pray for those you are going to try to reach, who have not yet believed. Go with the gospel, and give thanks in advance for what God is going to do as you share His great, wonderful news with people. When you see the phrase "all things" in God's word, pay attention. God uses this "all things" phrase to let us know that He really, really is in charge of everything, everywhere. And we know that all things work together for good, to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Now, take a listen to 3rd John, verses 2 and 3, New King James Version. "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things, and be in health just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly that brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. You shall know the truth," Jesus said, "and the truth shall set you free." He also said, "I am the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to Father, except by me." So as we prosper in our health and in our soul, know that God wants us to prosper in our relationships with people, people who can be our partners in sharing God's good news, people who need to hear God's good news, to whom we can go with the gospel. Know this. When you tell the truth, wonderful things can happen. It's really up to you. So be in tune with God. Every Saturday at 7.27 p.m., you are invited to attend a live youth event at Triple T, 13,000 US-41 North at Booneville in Harmony Road, midway between I-64 and Evansville Regional Airport. Every first Saturday, a good news club for ages 6 to 9 is available in a separate room. For more information, call 812-867-2418, or visit www.tripletchristianyouth.org. [MUSIC PLAYING] You've been listening to biblical truths about praying and about prayer. God hears and answers prayer, as we've said, and as I will say, free is the theme of my life. And I want to share it with you right now. And hopefully, you can make it the theme of your life, too. It made a tremendous impact on me a long, long time ago when I heard a lawyer stand up before a congregation. This lawyer had been the attorney for RG Latino. He had set up corporations of all kinds across America. He had argued before the Supreme Court of the United States and won. He had been the attorney for Mr. Sinclair, the Sinclair Oil Company, and then Mr. Latino. But all the time he was sharing his testimony was telling people about Jesus. And every night, as he would begin his service in whatever auditorium he found himself to be, he would begin it this way. Call unto me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know. It would have the people repeat that three times. And I was there listening the first time I heard it, and it was like he was in a courtroom, and he was defending the Bible in a wonderful way, and the privilege and the power of prayer. Call to me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know, Jeremiah 33-3. Extreme dreams depend on teams. It takes a team to encourage, to enlarge, to expand. Triple T. Cushing Youth Ministries is celebrating our 47th year of ministry. We've been coming together every single Saturday without exception, since the first Saturday of February of 1966. And from that moment on, God has blessed abundantly. And some of the world's greatest teenagers have come through the doors of Triple T, first in our living room, then down in the basement, then in the three-car garage, then the driveway, and then into vehicles as we traveled, and as we had people from various congregations bringing their folk to a different church auditorium or facility every Saturday night for 26 weeks. We lost whole busloads of kids because they couldn't remember which place we were going to be at that week. That summer we came back to the driveway, expanded beyond the garages and went into an overflow. And then that fall, we were able to utilize a very special gymnasium, Olivet Presbyterian, every Saturday for 26 weeks, then back to Triple T for the summer. The next year, we went to Emmanuel Lutheran up on Volkmann Road, again for 26 weeks, then back to Triple T in the summertime and in the early fall. And then, again, that fall, we went to Oak Hill Baptist Auditorium. And we were there for 26 weeks. The next year, after being in the driveway and seeing God working wonderfully, we decided it was time to build a building. We knew it was, we knew God was leading us to do that. And so as we put together the possibilities, we decided we were not going to move anymore. We were going to just crowd out the basement. We were going to do whatever it took. And then God helped us to understand that we had to begin putting feet on our prayers. And so our treasure, Mr. Hugh Barker, and I talked on the phone, and I said, we've got to do something. He said, meet me out at the place. We're going to cut down some trees. We're going to start ourselves. And we're going to see this happen, and God blessed. And again, across the years, we've seen it happen. Then the Lord gave us the Tiger Team concept. You see, you've got to have a vision first. The vision is so huge, so immense that only God could cause it to become reality. Here's the vision, the impossible dream. Every youth to have the opportunity to hear the gospel with an invitation to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ before turning 20. You say, are you going to do that? Well, we have to put an extreme dream team together. We've got to have encouragers. We've got to have people who will help us enlarge and then to expand. We're putting billboards by the side of the road that say, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. We have a radio broadcast that now goes twice a day on 30-some stations all across the upper Midwest and beyond. And we're seeing God here in answer prayer in the hearts of people as they become communicators of the gospel. You should never have a vision without having also behind that a mission. And our mission is this, telling the truth to through teenagers, to communicate Christianity to and through teenagers, winning them to Christ, training them for Christ, teaching them how to share their faith through their local churches, on their campuses, throughout their communities, into their world, wherever God leads them in their future. And for 47 years, we've done precisely that. We have seen God work in the hearts and lives of some of the world's greatest teenagers, and they have gone everywhere with the gospel. They've gone from Triple T. They've gone from families and homes in the tri-state. Here for training to Teen Missions International for further training and then out to country after country into all of the populated continents. We have seen them go to school, putting a Bible on top of their books, sharing their faith in Christ with their friends. And we have learned that we have got to have partners. We call them Tiger Teammates. A Tiger teammate is a person who will involve themselves in praying and then invest time and talent and our treasure. Then we're partnering in youth evangelism with local congregations and ministries, challenging and training youth as tigers, teens involved, going evangelizing regularly. Tiger Team Impact Evangelistic Youth Efforts happen as God opens doors. Prepare for rain. That's the title of a book by Michael Cat. I've never met Michael Cat, but I have friends who are friends of his. One of my friends, long-time friend, is Dr. Warren Wiersby. Warren and I worked together on a magazine where he was the editor and I was the advertising circulation director. Warren is the one who introduced me to J.B. Phillips book, "Your God is Too Small" and allowed me to see how big God really is. Another friend of Michael Katz and a friend of ours is Roger Braylon. And so as I picked up the book "Prepare for Rain" by Michael Cat, the story of the church that believed God for the impossible, I was fascinated as I read about the visionary team. That's what we're putting together here at Triple T Christian Youth Ministries. We're asking God to give us tigers and tiger teammates. We're asking him to give us at least 333 tiger teammates who will invest from $20 on up to thousands of dollars as God leads them to do precisely that. You may be one of these. Right now we're praying for 333. We already have 40 this year and it's only the second week of February. We praise God for that, but we're going to move on and see what God does. Our visionary team will be people who are praying and investing time and talent and treasure. Listen, Walt Disney said, "Think beyond your lifetime if you want to do something truly great." One day during a planning meeting at the Disney Studios, Walt became irritated with his team. He said, "The trouble is you aren't thinking far enough ahead. We're just beginning. You have to think beyond Disney World. We haven't even begun to think big. In order to think big, you need to have a vision and it's impossible to separate vision from leadership. Beyond that, it's not lone rangers, but it's all of us needing people who will stretch us. If we want to leave a legacy for the next generation to be proud of, we've got to build a visionary team, a team that lays a foundation that will stand the test of time. I've been to Disneyland in California before there was ever a Disney World. And then it was our privilege to go to Walt Disney World. The second year it was open. And we've taken lots and lots of people there, gone there lots and lots of times. And every time that I've gone, I've been amazed at the vision God gave Walt Disney. Disneyland was opening for its very first day. His widow was there because Walt had already died. And somebody said to her, "Isn't it too bad that Walt is not here to see this?" She said, "Sir, if Walt had not seen this, "we would not be here." You've got to have vision. And our vision is to get the gospel to every possible person we can, especially youth. Pray with us and for us and stay tuned. We're going to tell you how you can be a vital part of all of this. Many with the board of directors of Tripless and Youth Ministries, we presented the dream, the extreme dream. And here's what it is. Last Saturday night at Triple T, we turned 47. And we shared from the platform where we're going this year. God willing to 31 of the 93 counties within 100 miles of where we are. Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky places. And then next year, we're going to go God willing to 62 of those 93 counties. And then the third year, God willing, we're going to go to all 93. February 1 next year, Triple T will turn 48, if it's God's will. February 7, 2015 begins Triple T's Jubilee year, going to February 6, 2016, Triple T's 50th anniversary, our golden year. In that period of time, we believe that God is going to absolutely expand this ministry beyond anything that we've ever dreamed. We're not stopping with the 93 counties within 100 miles. We are praying for connections in every one of the 50 states, all 3,141 counties across America. We're working with other ministries. And hand in hand, we're going to watch God work. We've got connections that God has provided with Team Missions International. And each year, we go and challenge people. And last year, we had them from 35 states that said they wanted to put together a Tiger Team impact or a high school Bible club on or off campus. And then we're working with Liberty University, the largest Christian school in the world. And the people there have caught the vision because we've known them a long time. Tammy went to school with those who are the leaders there. She knew the president of Liberty University when he was dating a former Triple T girl. And he was a very perstable young man when she met him before she even went there when she was just a high school student. And then she was in class with Jeannie Falwell, and they got to be good friends. And then she became a very special friend of Jonathan Falwell, who is now the pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church, because he liked picture taking. And he liked cameras, he liked photography. So he hung around the picture place where Tammy was working. And they together took lots of pictures of lots of famous people and some not so famous. And so God puts us in connection with other people and helps us to understand that we can do some great things. Just seven years ago, on our 40th anniversary, Paul Cedar came as our speaker. Paul Cedar helped load the U-Haul van that we brought our furniture in as we came to move in to Triple T's house. And two and a third acres that 47 years ago happening. Paul is now the president of Mission America with connections with ministries all over America. It's the largest collaboration of ministries in America. And then we are headquartered Teen Missions International here at Triple T. The happening will be in October here for the National Convention and Youth Workers' Intensive Training. Meanwhile, in the middle of May, we'll be opening the tabernacle again, God willing. And it'll be open every day from the middle of May through the middle of October. And we'll be taking people on tours of the Old Testament tabernacle replica, which is a full-size replica. And then backing up, just very, very soon, we'll be putting together the Hosanna Highway Production. We're already building the sets. We're already putting it together. In March 21, 22, and 23, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, we'll be having people here every evening to be a part of all of this. And meanwhile, we're praying for 333 Tiger teammates. And we're going to be training as many Tigers as we possibly can this year. The goal that I've said in my heart is to train 300. It's an impossible dream right now, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. That means it can if we will pray diligently and deliberately. My friend Paul Cedar has written a book, "A Life of Prayer." It talks about cultivating the inner life of the Christian leader. And so I want you to be praying with us in for us and be a prayer partner. And why don't you give at least $20 and be one of those 333 that we're praying for? Right now, we're going to be moving out to these counties, but right now, we're praying about the open doors that God's going to put before us between the middle of February and the end. Christ through you can change the world.
