Telling The TRUTH
122912 Telling The Truth 28 Minute Program
# You're listening to "Telling the Truth" from Triple T. Christian Youth Ministries, "Telling the Truth to and through Teenagers." Here is Triple T. Founder and President George Dooms. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Now faith is a substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11-1, New King James Version. This introduction to what we call the faith chapter, or the parade of heroes, says, in a very, very easy to understand way, things hoped for. You don't have them, but it's substance. It's going to happen. In God's own timing, in His divine will, the evidence of things not seen. Faith doesn't allow you to see it before it happens. Faith is the factor that causes us to believe that God is going to hear and answer prayer. He is going to reveal to us, in His appointed time, precisely what we need to have and to hold. It's Christ in you, the hope of glory. And because we have that hope, we have just celebrated the birth of Jesus, and now we need to tell people about His death, His burial, and His resurrection. Jesus Christ is Lord. Is He your Savior? Have you trusted Him? Are you telling other people about Him? Will you tell someone today? The world was made by God. Listen to Hebrews 11-3, New King James. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that the things which are seen are not made of things which are visible. God did it. He did it from nothing. He didn't need anything because He is the creator of everything. When I was in junior high, I heard for the first time about the great glacier, and I was not perplexed at all. So I raised my hand in my innocent faith-sharing way and said that the teacher, "That's not the way it happened." It was a flood. And of course some of the waters froze, but God tells us how it all happened in the book of Genesis. I was poo-pooed and let know that I didn't have all the answers, but it didn't shake my faith at all. I knew that they were wrong and I was right because I believed the Bible. If we have more people that just put their faith to totally trust in God's Word completely, we won't have all this controversy about how long the earth has been here. The Bible lets us know, believe the Bible, read it, and heed it, and share it with people who don't know that Jesus is the answer. The parade of people of faith begins with Hebrews 1-4, New King James. My faith able offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts, and through it, he being dead still speaks. It's wonderful to know that God has done things through people and for people and with people. And God wants us to know that those people are real, and that's why he encases their stories in the context of Scripture. But I hope that you will understand that God has a plan just for you. It may not be quite as dramatic as able, or some of the others that we're going to be talking about in the days ahead, but suffice it to say that God and you make a majority. If you will put your faith without reservation in God through His Son, the Lord Jesus, if you are willing to believe God's Word and to read God's Word consistently, if you will pray diligently, believing that God is going to hear and answer your prayers, if you will fellowship with other believers, and to gather, take the gospel to people who really need to know the Lord, God will use you significantly. Are you ready? Someone is waiting for you. The year's about over. Go with the gospel now. We don't know a whole lot about Enoch, but we know what we need to know. Listen to Hebrews 11-5, New King James. By faith Enoch was translated so that he did not see death and was not found because God had translated him for before his translation, he had this testimony that he pleased God. What else do you need? That he pleased God? Would that God would say that about me? Would that God would say that about you? That we pleased God? That's my goal. It's my hope. It's my dream. It's my desire to please God. And I know what would please him the most, is to share the good news that he entrusted to us with people who need to know the Lord, and to challenge believers to do likewise, and to share with their friends. So that's why I'm asking you today to make certain that you do know Jesus, that you have admitted that you have sinned, believed unChrist, turned to him from your sins, and told other people that you believe. Now having done that, read God's word, pray, get with other believers, and determine the strategy that you will use together to reach some people with God's glorious gospel. Start the new year right. Communicate Christianity. Win souls. Listen carefully. What you're about to hear is one of the most profound statements you will ever be exposed to regarding the real why of faith. Hebrews 11-6, New King James says, "But without faith, it is impossible to please him. For he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him." There you have it. God's word tells us that we have got to have faith to please God. It's not possible to please him without faith. When we come to God, we have got to believe that he is. You need to believe that God created the heavens and the earth. You've got to believe that God sent his son, born of a virgin, that Jesus lived perfectly, that he was tempted, but never gave in, and that he was crucified. He died for our sins. He was buried, and he rose again. You've got to believe that, and if you believe that, then know that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Seek first a kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. God wants you to tell others about Jesus. The question of questions is this. Will you? Faith begins and ends the church testimony about Noah. Hebrews 11-7, New King James. Listen. By faith, Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness, which is according to faith. When I get to heaven, I want to have some time with Noah and all of these other heroes of the faith that are presented to us in Hebrews chapter 11. But Noah was so special. There'd not been rain. There'd never been a flood. But Noah listened to God. He obeyed him. He was warned and he heated the warning. When God warns you about something, maybe not as audibly as he did with Noah, but there are circumstances that let you know that something needs to change. Something needs to be rearranged. Are you listening to God? Are you praying? Are you reading his word? Are you in fellowship with other believers? And are you together concerned about the people who don't know Jesus and might not know Noah was a real person? You can tell them. I hope you will. It's certainly your prerogative and it's up to you. The person you're about to learn about now is the one we sing about in Sunday school and Bible school and other circumstances. Father Abraham has many sons. Listen to Hebrews 11, 8, New King James Version. "By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out of the place which he would afterward receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going." That's faith. I haven't had that kind of faith, the kind Abraham had, but I have had enough faith to believe that God was going to lead me in the direction he wanted me to go. How about you? Do you have that kind of faith? Are you following the Lord? What if he wants you to go someplace you've never even thought about before? Are you willing? If God directs you? My whole world changed completely from what I thought it was going to be. I was on a particular course. I knew what I wanted to happen. I thought God was leading me, but circumstances rearrange things and God gently put me in the direction he wanted me to go. He did it deliberately, and he opened door after door in circumstance after circumstance, situation after situation, and place after place so that now today I'm able to come and talk with you about the word of God. Every Saturday at 7.27 p.m. you are invited to attend a live youth event at Triple T, 13,000 US-41 North at Boomville in Harmony Road midway between I-64 and Evansville Regional Airport. Every first Saturday, a good news club for ages 6 to 9 is available in a separate room. For more information call 812-867-2418 or visit www.tripletchristianyouth.org. Set your goals. When God designed you, He designed you as a goal seeking person. You set goals of all kinds. And when you set goals, you are more than likely to reach the goals than if you don't set goals. Well, is goal setting biblical? Does it please God for us to set goals? Turn if you will to Philippians 3, 12-14. Not that I have already attained or am already perfected, but I press on that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended, but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Is goal setting scriptural? Yes it is. And the Bible talks about setting goals, reaching for prizes, moving in the direction that God would have us to go. And so we're going to set some goals. We're going to set some goals in our own person and then some goals for outreach. Personal goals come in four areas. Physical. Set the goal to be the best physical specimen you can be. Take care of the body God has entrusted to you. Pay the price to develop it and make it great for God's glory. Bali exercise profits little, but it does profit. So use your body wisely and don't abuse it other than to bring it into subjection. So take care of the body you have because you've got to go full speed forward for God's glory if you're going to reach youth in today's world. Number two, think on right things. Think often, think clearly. Read right. Do right things with your mind. Set goals to become as smart as you can become. One of the things that I have tried to do is to read rapidly because the more rapidly I can read and retain the information I have, then the more information I can intake. Right? So learn some things and express to God your desire to become as mentally alert as God would be pleased for you to become. Use your smarts. Use your brain. Use your mind. Develop it to the ultimate for God's glory. And one of the great ways to develop your mind is to read and memorize Scripture. Memorize God's Word. Psalm 23 is a great exercise in Scripture memory, and it will help you to understand who God is. I've set some goals regarding Psalm 23. I want to share these with you as we talk about the mental you. First words of Psalm 23 are, "The Lord is my shepherd." And I take each of these words and emphasize those words. "The Lord is my shepherd." There is one Lord and one God, one mediator, between God and man, that's the man Christ Jesus. "The Lord is my shepherd." Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. Make him Lord of your life. "The Lord is my shepherd." "The Lord is my shepherd." It's not something that was or something that will be. "He is now my shepherd, and he wants to continue to be my shepherd, and so the Lord is my shepherd." Then we personalize it. "The Lord is my shepherd." In a very intimate way, God speaks to my heart through his Word, and he will lead me in the paths of righteousness for his namesake. "The Lord is my shepherd." "The Lord is my shepherd." He will be leading. He will be guiding if I will give him that right. If I give him that opportunity, if I allow him to be my leader, my guide, my shepherd, so we can exercise the mental prowess that God has entrusted to us, and we can be as smart as God would have us to be. God wants us to develop that and to set goals in those areas. Three, there are the social goals to set. Socially speaking, you should meet everybody that you can, and you should have a good relationship with those people. Man, woman, you are a social creature, and so get involved with other people, but be careful not to abuse that social life of yours. Don't go, do, say, or be anything that would displease God. Four, set your goals spiritually. Become as much like Jesus as you can become. My goal in life is to be like Christ, to be like Jesus. Now I fail, I fall short. I am way, way weak in looking at his strengths, but as close as I can come to him, I try to do that. And if I can become more like Jesus, I will set the goal to become what God would have me to become. Christian means Christ-like, and we are to emulate the Lord Jesus. We're to pattern our lives after him, and once we have done this, then we can begin to reach out to other people, and goal-setting becomes very, very important. As we talk about goal-setting, we also talk about finding God's will. Goals are interesting things, and I hope that you are willing to seek God's will in all of these areas. Then I hope that you will look at what God is telling you to do about goal-setting with your key group. Put a key group together. Key remember means keep evangelizing youth. And as we have really previewed all of this, then we have begun to present the opportunities. Let's begin now to plan a specific event. It's going to happen in your town, in your community, where you live. And you're going to have the opportunity of gathering around you now, those people who will be part of your key keep evangelizing youth group. It's going to be a minimum of one guy, one girl, and one by either a guy or a girl, so there'll be three. Three young people, and one adult. Or you might be that adult, or you might be that teenager, whichever. And when you set your goals, you determine who, what, when, where, why, and how the impact is to happen. You know what impact means? I must personally advance Christianity today. We call these Tiger Team Impact Evangelistic Youth Efforts. And as you take a long look at the impact opportunity and possibility, you will see that you have specific objectives that you state and set, then you begin to build your prospect list. Remember you, on your prospect list, have a numbered sheet from 1 to 13, and you put your name on 13. And from 1 to 12, you put in the blanks of people for whom you are concerned, that you want to be a part of your team. A teenage guy, that teenage girl, the other working person, who's either a guy or a girl, that adult or adults who are working with you, until you have a total of 12 on your team. And when you have filled in your blanks, and when you now have put all of those things together, then you press toward the mark for the prize of the High Calling of God in Christ Jesus. And you begin to invite these people to a planning session, where you're going to put into effect what is going to happen. Together, you're going to make your determination as to who, what, when, where, why, and how your impact is going to occur. What are you going to do? Who are you going to reach? How are you going to reach them? And now you're planning an event that's going to happen. As we pray together, we're going to trust God to show us precisely how to do it all. And we want to be in tune with you and in touch with you. And so we ask that you contact us at Triple T Christian Youth Ministries. My name is George Dooms, and our address is 13,000. That's 1-3-0-0-0 US Highway 41 North, Evansville, Indiana 477-25. If we can hear from you and you can let us know that you want to be a Tiger teammate, we're going to see some wonderful things happen. We can't do it alone. We have to do it together. So let's begin to pray. Pray specifically. Pray together. Lord, help us to reach out to other people. And when you have your prospect list, you can send it to me. And I will pray for your prospects, and we will set a time and a place and a moment of truth where we come together and bring other people together. And then we can say in prayer, dear God, show us who ought to be at our impact. Show us where it's going to be, what it's going to be. And then we'll determine together how it's going to transpire. We're going to find out that God wants us to work together. And He wants us to involve more people. It's got to be exciting. If it's going to be a youth event, it has to be. And we're going to see when it's going to happen. Will it be four, five, six, seven, ten weeks from now? God knows that you and I can begin to pray now and ask the Lord to show us when and where. What location? What circumstance? When's it going to happen? And why? Where are we doing this anyway? We're doing it to communicate Christianity to youth, to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to people who don't know Him, and to invite them to come to hear the gospel, to believe on Christ to be saved. So we have to keep that as our constant objective. Stay tuned and we'll continue. 2012 began with Light the Night on New Year's Day. And now, as we have gone through the year, we have watched God work wonderfully. It seems hardly possible that this is the final Saturday of 2012. Through Project Proclaim, thousands have heard the gospel this year. Triple T teams and guests have ministered in 15 tri-state counties. Hundreds of 10 to 19-year-olds have received a Triple T New King James Bible. Thousands more have been given a copy of God's ABCs. Additional thousands have listened to telling the truth, daily radio broadcast, and podcast. Over 34 radio stations in nine states. Multiple thousands have seen a message believe on the Lord Jesus Christ on billboards and at fairs and street festivals. And now, Light the Night will bridge 2012 and 2013, God willing, this coming week. On Monday evening, New Year's Eve will gather Triple T beginning at 7.27 p.m. It will be an all-nighter and we will be watching God do tremendous things as we celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of a brand new one with unlimited possibilities. Youth are helping with the 1 million Dimes for Digital Campaign. It's underway now to provide a large two-sided digital sign with a constantly changing message along U.S. 41 at Triple T. And as the youth are preparing to come to Light the Night New Year's Eve, they'll be bringing with them bottles with Dimes. And of course, you can put more than a dime. Some will be having nickels and pennies and quarters and dollar bills and on. And we'll be seeing what God's going to do. We're hoping and trusting that soon that digital sign will be reality. We're going to be sharing a brand new thing that we're calling keynote, a new blog by Tammy and myself. We're trusting that it will be launched in just a couple of days on January 1. It'll feature youth of ages of ideas and information. Who's doing what and what's happening where? What did happen and where did it happen and by whom? Inspiration, biblical insights, and namely offering resource items. Local church pastors and youth leaders, partner in youth evangelism with Triple T to reach youth in their communities with the gospel. Youth are being transported to and from Triple T. And Triple T staff and guest ministry and local church congregations, every Saturday, we have vehicles pulling up out front, unloading kids. And then the vehicles are parked and the people who drove them come on in and participate in what's happening here. Just in my hometown, we have people who have determined to be Tiger teammates. A Tiger teammate is a person who will pray and then participate. Tiger team participants are consistently challenged to share their faith. They receive training and opportunities in peer evangelism, leadership, and become creative Christian communicators. The next one of these is coming up the third Saturday of January and another third Saturday of February and another third Saturday of March. To fulfill the vision, accomplish the mission. The number one need is more people diligently praying. We have people that are parts of different churches in my hometown of Mount Carmel, Illinois. And they are Tiger teammates. Some are encouragers, they give twenty dollars or more. Some are enlargers, they give twenty dollars a month or more. And some are expanders, they give a hundred dollars a month or more average. And we have them scattered from various congregations. And together we're going to put together a Tiger team impact that will be so special and so wonderful as it all comes together in God's perfect timing. I don't know today what that timing is going to be, but as soon as we determine it, we're going to be sharing it with you. Meanwhile, would you pray for God's will to be revealed and presented and developed so that we can reach the maximum number of people that we can as we put together the Tiger team impact evangelistic youth effort for Mount Carmel, Illinois. I know that God has a plan for you. And we'd like for you to be a part of all this. So be sure to call us. Here we go to 812-867-2418. Repeat. Here we go to 812-867-2418.
