Telling The TRUTH
082512 Telling The Truth 28 Minute Program
[music] You're listening to "Telling the Truth" from Triple T. Christian Youth Ministries, "Telling the Truth to and through Teenagers." Here is Triple T. Founder and President George Dooms. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. David begins the 25th Psalm saying, "To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul." This is a challenge of the day for you and for me and for youth everywhere. We need to lift up our souls. We need to present our bodies a living sacrifice. We need to ask God for direction and guidance and help. And then, we need to prepare ways to share the good news of the saving power of the Lord Jesus. As we lift up our souls to Him, God will give us the guidance that is necessary to be all we need to be to bring honor and glory to Him and to reach youth with the gospel. We have some tools we would like to put into your hands. First, a copy of the New King James Bible, it's free. And with that, copies of God's ABCs. They are printed on the inside flap of the Bible. We will send to you, but we will also send you several extra copies that you can give to people who need the Lord. Pray for them. Pray for yourself. Pray for us. Pray with other believers. Read the Word of God and take the gospel to people who need the Lord. We're looking forward to hearing from you. Either call us or write us. Information is coming your way at the end of the broadcast. Meanwhile, as you pray, get ready to go. Oh my God, I trust in you. Let me not be ashamed. Let not my enemies triumph over me. Psalm 25-2, New King James Version. David was declaring his trust in the Lord. He wanted God to know that he was not in any way wanting to be ashamed of relating himself with the Lord. He had enemies, and he asked God to keep those enemies from triumphing over him, from doing him in. I don't know who you are, nor do I know your circumstance. But I do know that God loves you. Jesus died for you. And God wants you to believe on the Lord Jesus. And then he wants you to tell other people how they, too, can be a believer. The youth of our world are desperately in need of hearing God's plan of salvation. Will you be a Christian communicator? We want to send you a free New King James Bible. And with it, copies of God's ABCs that you can share with those who need the Lord. First, read the Word of God. Get with other Christians and pray together for those you know who don't know Jesus. God can take you, make you usable, and use you to do something very special, to cause someone to learn how to get to heaven. We're looking forward to hearing from you. Psalm 25-3, New King James says, "Indeed, let no one who waits on you be ashamed. Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause." The Bible says, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For is the power of God and a salvation to everyone who believes." What we need to do is to help people believe. We need to never be ashamed of the gospel. We need to never let our lights be dimmed. We need to be the light of the world, will you? Let those be ashamed who don't acknowledge God. We want to never be ashamed of Him or of the gospel. And because when we have that opportunity to tell other people, we need to do it. So I challenge you, take a Bible, read it, and obey it. Put into effect those things God tells you to do and then go with other believers to people who need the Lord. We want to send you some tools. A Bible, New King James Version, and copies of God's ABCs. They are free. All you have to do is at the end of the broadcast, listen to the information, and write our call. Show me your ways, O Lord. Teach me your paths. Psalm 26-4, New King James. God's Word tells us what to do and how to do it. Listen to 2 Timothy chapter 2 verse 15. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth. When we do what God says to do, the way He says to do it, wonderful things transpire. There are people in our world, especially young people, between the ages of 10 and 19 who need to know who Jesus is, who need to know that Christ died for their sins, according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He rose again and someone needs to tell them. Will you be the one? I hope you will. I hope you will pray for those who need the Lord. I hope that you will pray with other believers for those who need Jesus. And I hope that you will go with the Gospel to them. We want to provide for you something that will help you articulate the Gospel clearly, scripturally. Called God's ABCs, they are free. Free to you along with a copy of the New King James Bible. All you have to do is write for yours or call us and we will send it your way. Then go with the Gospel. When is your birthday? Today is mine, and I recommend this Scripture to you. I'm going to endeavor to follow it all the days of my life. Psalm 25, 5, New King James Version says, "Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation. On you I wait all the day." God is a plan for you to pursue. He has something for you to do that nobody can do, but you the way you could do it if you would do it. What does God want you to do? What should you do? He wants me to communicate Christianity to and through teenagers. He wants me to share the good news of the saving power of the Lord Jesus with as many youth as possible. He wants me to help those between the ages of 10 and 19 to understand Jesus died for them. He was buried and he rose again, and he wants to give them eternal life. He wants me to ask you to help me reach them for Jesus. Will you? I want to send a package to you, a New King James Bible and copies of God's ABCs that you can distribute, that you can give personally to people who need the Lord. Call our right today. They'll come your way and you'll be glad. Remember, O Lord, your tender mercies and your loving kindnesses for they have been from of old. Psalm 25, 6, New King James Version. God did it, and he did it for you and for me, and he wants us to share his story, his plan of salvation, and the way of redemption with those who need to know. I don't know what your age is right now, but in my youth I messed up. I did some things that were displeasing to the Lord. It's called sin. I did some transgressions that God has now forgiven, and I am so glad because it is His mercy that He remembers me for my turning to Him from my sins and He will do the same for you if it hasn't already happened. If it has, understand that it is God's grace that accomplished this for you and He will do it for others, but you and I need to tell them how to get to heaven. I was born there, was born again there, went to school there, had friends and friends and more friends there, played in the high school band when it was a great band, was privileged to see a girl, to ask the girl for a date, to continue to see the girl and to marry the girl, all in my hometown. Wabash County, Illinois is a very special place. My grandparents, my father's parents, lived out in the country and so did my parents. But when it was time for my mother to get closer and closer to my birthday, she did something wonderful. She came to town and stayed with her parents just a few blocks from where the doctor's office was that was going to bring me into the world. He suggested that that would be a safe thing to do. And it was a good thing because on that Saturday morning at eight o'clock, I came into the world. That's why it's a privilege to broadcast in Mount Carmel from seven thirty to eight o'clock each Saturday. A lot of things happened in my hometown, was called the little city of great music. Wonderful things transpired there. Great musicians grew up there and became famous. Wonderful people live in my hometown still. My aunt, my marriage just celebrated her one hundredth birthday, this past Tuesday. And because she did, friends came, relatives came. The birthday cakes were delicious and that wonderful message. Happy 100 Aunt Juanita was devoured by all kinds of folk. Some in a nursing home who didn't even know her. Others, of course, who did. Those who worked there were provided a piece of birthday cake. Birthdays are wonderful things. They are those moments in life when we reflect and project. We want you to know that you can have a spiritual birthday if you haven't already. We want you to know how it can happen. We have a Bible that we've been talking about. We want to send to you. And on the inside front cover it says, "God's ABCs. Admit you've sinned. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3, 23. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. In Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6, 23. "Believe on Christ. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3, 16. Confess Christ publicly. That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes under righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10, 9, and 10. Now, if you haven't done it, why not take a moment right now to say, "God, I've sinned and I'm sorry, forgive me." And turn to Jesus from your sins. Believe with all of your heart that Jesus Christ died for you, that He rose again on the third day. Receive the gift of God eternal life and tell somebody that you're a believer. And tell them how they too can believe. That's why we want to send you your personal copy of the New King James Bible. And that's why we also want to send you copies of God's ABCs so that you can give them to people who need to know the Lord. We had the privilege of being at Ag Days in Mount Carmel, along with 10 other counties where we were at the county fairs in July and August. We wrapped up fair share in Mount Carmel and literally hundreds of people received copies of God's ABCs. One young lady came up and she had a copy of God's ABCs and it had a picture of our billboard on the outside and she said, "Well, that's what's on my Bible." And she had gotten one of our Bibles at our booth. And that same banner was on the side of the booth for people passing up and down officially Market Street, but what everybody in Mount Carmel calls Main Street was a communicating tool for people to know how to get to heaven. Now, when you turn to the Lord Jesus from your sins and believe on Him, receiving God's gift of eternal life through Jesus, you have four opportunities, privileges and responsibilities. As a believer, you can pray any time, any place. When you pray in Jesus' name, God the Father hears you. You can find answers to problems of all kinds and direction for all of your tomorrows by reading the Bible and responding to the messages in this holy, inspired, inerrant, changeless Word of God. When you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, you become a member of God's family and you can find fellowship with other Christians by getting involved in a Bible-believing church, sunny school and youth group. The greatest way to grow in Christ is to share your faith in Him with your family and your friends. That's why we want to send you the Bible and copies of God's ABCs. And then on the inside back, flap of the Bible we're going to send to you as soon as you call for yours, are God's top ten. You shall have no other Gods before Me. You shall not make for yourselves a carved image. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Honor your Father and your Mother. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. You shall not covet. That's Exodus 20, 3 through 17 in King James Version called the Ten Commandments. God's top ten are more than guidelines. They are commandments. Now you have the power to save yes to purity and no to premarital sex, alcohol, drugs and tobacco. Here's how. As a believer, be all you can be for God's glory. Respond to the challenge of Romans 12, 1 and 2. It was in Mount Carmel in a very unusual setting that these verses of Scripture hit me in the heart and I didn't even know I knew them until that night. When I was confronted with a decision that would change not only that night, but all of my tomorrows from that moment on. This is what God said to my heart, words that were from His word that I didn't even know I knew. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. You can have a life that will count for eternity. If you will first admit you've sin, turn to Jesus, believe on Him, confess Him publicly, and then present your body totally, completely, absolutely, unreservedly to Him. You can, if you will, it's totally up to you. No one's going to force it, no one's going to make it happen, but you can serve the Lord with every fiber of your being, with every ounce of your energy from now on, if you will. But it begins with a relationship with Jesus. And if you haven't established that relationship, you need to do it now. When I was in high school, I had two target teens. I had more than that, but two very special guys. And I prayed for them, and I diligently tried to reach out to them. And I used all kinds of methods and means to try to communicate with them, and it worked. One of them, Ivan Peterson, a guy that I met when I was about four or five years old, became one of my very best friends, but he was messing up. And I knew it, and he knew it, and I wanted to reach out to him. So I used something that I knew would attract him, and it did. And God used that tool to reach out to his heart and to change everything about him. He totally surrendered everything to Jesus Christ during his senior year in high school. At the end of his senior year and my junior year, during that summer, we gave copies of God's plan of salvation to everybody who was in the grandstand as a fair. Our band was playing for the Horness Races. And as we came down the steps and out at the entrance, we gave that plan of salvation to the people that were leaving. And we are thrilled that we did that, because one of the guys that we enlisted to do that reluctantly stood by us. He was by my side playing trombone in the band, a big guy, but he was shy and he just didn't want to do what we were doing. But he said, "Okay, I'll stand with you guys." I'll tell you the rest of his story, if you'll stay tuned. It's a fascinating story. It's a true story. It's what God can do when you reach out to one person who really needs you to show you care. ♪ Everyone called him Slim, not because he was, but because he wasn't. He was the biggest guy in high school. I mean, really big. And Slim that night, after we had given out God's plan of salvation, decided to stay with us as we went over to the edge of the fair and continued to share our faith in Christ with anybody that we could. We had to walk home that night because neither Pete and I could get family cars to drive. And so we walked with Slim between us. Pete was on one side, I was on the other. We both were redheads. And I'll always remember what we did. We would just kind of pound Slim on the arm and say, "Slim, why don't you give that big body of yours to God? Why don't you present your body a living sacrifice? Make it holy, acceptable to God. And Pete would chime in. It's the most reasonable thing you could do, Slim. Come on, why don't you do it? You'll never regret it if you'll do it. Go ahead. Go ahead. Sell out to the Lord. Do it right now. Let God make you usable and use you, will you?" And Slim was reluctant. And we got to his house and we told him we'd be continuing to pray for him because every evening Pete and I would lean on our little Studebaker and we would, in that moment of truth, pray together. Pete was getting ready to go to Bible College and I was going to be a senior in high school and Slim, of course, was starting his junior year. Well, he decided he was going to walk on with us. Instead of us praying for him, we could just pray with him right between us as we had been doing all the way home from the fairgrounds. And when we got there, Pete prayed and I prayed and I'll always remember Slim's prayer. Dear Lord, these guys have been pounding on me all night. They want me to give you my body, so, "Okay Lord, here I am. I'm giving you all of me right now, so just take me." We rejoiced. We were thrilled. We were delighted because Slim was presenting his body a living sacrifice. Well, life goes on. And Pete went to Midwest Bible College in St. Louis. I went to Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina another year later after going to Greenville College for one year. And then done after graduating from high school, stayed home for a year and got a football scholarship to Wheaton College. We were all back for what we called a watch night service on New Year's Eve in our little home church called Grace Memorial. And each of us were sharing our testimonies, what God had been doing in our hearts and lives. And Slim stood up, and this is what he said. He told the story I just told you. He said, "These two redheads pendant on me all night." He said, "What they didn't know was that I was not even a Christian. I was acting like it. I wanted to think I was, but I had never ever believed on Christ until that night. So only I gave God my body, I gave him my heart at the same time." Slim went on to graduate, went on to graduate school, lost a lot of pounds so that he could qualify to be a chaplain in the United States Army. He went to Vietnam as a chaplain. He served valiantly there. He came back and became the editor of the Wheaton College Alumni Magazine. And then he became the editor of the Journal for the National Association of Evangelicals, a national magazine that talked about what God was doing in this situation and that situation and the other. Peter, as I said, went on to be a missionary in Africa. And then the uprisings came and he had to leave. And with his wife, Danalda, they had to escape. They came back to America, but they said when they were in language school in Belgium, they said if they had two lives to live, they would give one to Africa and one to Europe. And now Africa was closed and Europe was open. And so Pete established a church in the environs of Paris, France, and then another, and then another. And today, one of his sons is pastoring that church and Pete and Danalda have continued their ministry. They're great friends of Mary's and mine. All of this had happened in my hometown. Now, I want to ask you very personally a very special question and give you a request. We haven't heard from anybody from Mount Carmel for quite some time. Do you please call us and ask for your package? The King James Bible, the ABCs, so that you can help us get the gospel out to keep evangelizing youth. We need your help and I need to hear from people from my hometown. And I hope you will. Prayerfully consider giving us a call right now. Stay tuned. You're going to listen to the number and don't hesitate a moment. Give us a call and we'll get your Bible to you. Christ through you can change the world.
