Telling The TRUTH
080412 Telling The Truth 28 Minute Program
[music] You're listening to "Telling the Truth" from Triple T. Christian Youth Ministries, "Telling the Truth to and Through Teenagers." Here is Triple T. Founder and President George Dooms. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. You are the Lord God who chose Abram and brought him out of Ur of the Childies and gave him the name Abraham." Nehemiah 9-7, the King James Version. Yes, God is God. He is the Lord, and He chooses people. He chose Abram. He made him Abraham, the father of many nations. And today we exist because of what God did in the heart and life of that one person. Abram messed up. Abraham was not perfect, but God used him, and he will use you. Are you willing and ready to say, "God, here am I, make me usable, and use me for your glory?" Are you willing to read the Word of God? Are you willing to pray diligently? Are you willing to fellowship with other believers and pray and open the Word of God together and determine how to share your faith in Christ with the most possible people in the shortest possible time effectively? Will you pray for people who need the Lord? Are you sure you know Him? Make certain, and then take the Gospel, the story of the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. The life that lasts forever comes from Him. Make sure you know Him. You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt and heard their cry by the Red Sea, Nehemiah 9-9, New King James. Affliction comes, but God is able to do something beyond our fondest dreams and expectations if we cry out to Him. God heard the prayers of the Israelites, and He opened the Red Sea and gave them victory. God will give you victory. I don't know what sea is out in front of you. I don't know what perils are behind you, but I do know that God cares about you. And if you have trusted Jesus as your personal Savior, He has a fantastic opportunity for you to accomplish for His glory. Have you accepted Jesus? Have you admitted that you have sinned? Have you believed on the Lord Jesus? Have you told other people you are a believer? If so, know that you are headed for heaven, but you have the opportunity of taking other people with you. So your cry can be, "Lord, help me to reach others for you effectively and quickly. Make me usable and use me, Lord, in Jesus' name." And when you pray that prayer, and when you put yourself at God's disposal, He will make you usable, and He is willing to use you if you're willing. The awesomeness of God prevails. People everywhere are learning that God is God. When we look at what He has done, when we see the accomplishments of His people across the years, we know that God cares, and God hears and answers prayer. Nehemiah 9-10, New King James says, "You showed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, against all his servants, and against all the people of his land, for you knew that they acted proudly against them, so you made a name for yourself as it is this day." Yes, we can reflect back on what God did. We can reflect on what He has done much more recently. We can anticipate what He will do for us when we ask for His help, His guidance, His direction. Will you? Will you pray this prayer? God make me usable and use me. And then, would you fellowship with other believers, reading the Word of God together, praying diligently for one another, and for the people who need Jesus. And then will you go into the world in which you live, to the people for whom you are concerned, and share God's glorious gospel with them? Tell them how they can get to heaven. Let them know that Jesus Christ died for them. Every story in the Bible is true. God worked miraculously, marvelously, compassionately, and He is still doing it today. Listen to Nehemiah 9-11, New King James Version, and you divided the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land, and their persecutors, you threw them into the deep, as a stone into the mighty waters. God will take care of you, and He will take care of your enemies. God wants you to draw close to Him. When you do, He will draw close to you. That's a promise. And as He has shared through the Word of God, what He has done for others, He will do for you. But you need to call out to Him what you need today. I need to know God's will, moment by moment. I need to know how I can reach more people for Christ. I need to know how I can motivate you to be a Christian communicator, if indeed you are a believer on Christ. Are you willing to put together a prayer team of other believers? Are you willing to pray together for people who need the Lord, for each other, and for those in ministry? And are you willing to put together a list of people who need Christ? Are you willing to put feet on your prayers and go to them with the gospel to let them know who Jesus is? Light is a wonderful thing. When we have light, we can see where we're going. Listen to the Amaya 9, 12, New King James. Moreover, you led them by day with a cloudy pillar and by night with a pillar of fire to give them light on the road which they should travel. Yes, God gives light and He will give you light. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." And then later He said, "You are the light of the world." Is that a contradiction? Not at all. We are to reflect His light as the moon reflects the light of the sun. We're to be mirrors of the light of Jesus Christ wherever we go. We're to share our faith. We're to let other people look at that light through us. God can make us usable if we are willing to be reusable for Him. There are people with whom you can fellowship and pray together and read God's Word together and determine together how to reach more people for Christ than you could without forming a team of evangelistic efforts. Will you pray together with other believers about reaching people? And then will you pray for the people who need to be reached? And then will you go with the gospel? People are waiting. They're waiting to hear. They're waiting to see the light of the world, Jesus. Listen to Nehemiah talking to God. You came down also on Mount Sinai and spoke with them from heaven and gave them just ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments. Nehemiah 913, New King James Version. Yes, God did that. God has provided for us laws and rules and regulations, ways of life that are successful if we follow them. But He's not going to force you to do right. He is simply going to allow you to make the decision that only you can make. The wonderful thing about the faith factor is that God allows us to put our faith implicitly in Him and then to share our faith with others, with those who know Him, with those who need to know Him. God wants us to act accordingly, to walk judiciously, to move forward deliberately with the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray, read the Bible and then take the message of salvation to people who need the Lord. Praying and putting together a team who will share the fact that Jesus Christ died was buried and rose again and will save, will accomplish wonderful things for a whole lot of folk. Will you do that? Nehemiah is praising God for what He has done. Listen, you gave them bread from heaven for their hunger and brought them water out of the rock for their thirst and told them to go in to possess the land which you had sworn to give them. Nehemiah 915, New King James. Yes, God did it. And God will do for you what is needed if you are willing to be made usable. One of those people that God can use willing to share Christ with people who need the Lord. There are four things you can do. First, you can pray. Ask God to show you what you should do. Secondly, you should read the word of God and do what it says to do. Third, you should fellowship with other believers in Christ. And fourth, you should take the message of salvation to people who need to know the Lord. Those four factors will help you accomplish magnificent things to glorify the Lord. God wants us to praise Him for what He has already done. But He wants us to pray for guidance so that we can do what would please Him for the things that we can accomplish for Him to glorify Him to reach people for Him. Pray diligently and watch God more. (upbeat music) Every Saturday at 7.27 PM, you are invited to attend a live youth event at Triple T, 13,000 US-41 North at Boone Building Harmony Road, midway between I-64 and Evansville Regional Airport. Every first Saturday, a good news club for those in first through fifth grades is available in a separate area. For more information, call 812-867-2418 or visit www.tripletchristianyouth.org. (upbeat music) Have you ever seen the initials, W-W-J-D on a t-shirt or a bracelet or something and said, "What does that stand for?" Well, it came from a book that we give people when they come to Triple T the third Saturday. First Saturday, they come to get a Bible. New King James with the pictures of Billboard on the outside. Second Saturday, they get a free soft drink. Third Saturday, they get In His Steps by Charles Shelton. And in it, he reveals W-W-W-J-D, what would Jesus do? Ken Anderson is one of my longtime heroes. I met him when I was in high school. He was already an author. He was the very first author that I ever met. And later, we got to be friends. He stayed at our home in Wheaton, Illinois when he was there for the Youth for Christ magazine meetings. And what a wonderful privilege to be with him in so many different places and to watch God work in him and for him and through him. And then when people earn 3,000 points, they get the transformer Bible. And at 6,000 points, where to find it in the Bible? The ultimate A-Z resource, fully illustrated by Ken Anderson. In the preface of this book, Ken says, "My lengthening ministry as a Christian writer and audiovisual producer has long involved constant dependence upon the Bible as a constant resource. Concordance has helped me locate specific words, verses, and passages. But when you look for Bible verses dealing with today's contemporary topics, how do you locate scripture on topics such as credit cards, diet, race, networking, computers, women's rights, politics? Ken says, "I saw the need for a topical resource where unlike a traditional concordance, the descriptive references used every day speech rather than verbatim, scripture, or fancy theological language. I developed a card file, elementary at first, and then expanded. This should be in a book, a friend said to me one day. The end result is this combination of traditional and contemporary words, topics and phrases with relevant scripture references. You will find it equally useful for personal study of the scriptures as well as for teaching and sermon preparation." Ken says, "My wife and family teamed with me in the development of the final manuscript, making our camaraderie entry even more apt." The crew included two preteen grandsons who also diligently looked up verses to ensure the references are correct. Then Ken says, "May God bless you." As you use, we're defined in the Bible to enrich your life and service. Ken was God's servant. He served the Lord worldwide. He was one of those fantastic Christian communicators who had a genius for doing things that were contemporarily adept and also biblically sound. And around the world, he produced films. His legacy is a very special thing called intercom where the scriptures are put into effect in audio visuals and people around the world are using these to enhance their presentation of the gospel. The gospel goes forth consistently through this very special ministry called intercom. And that's why it's a privilege and a pleasure to present to every one of the teenagers who earns 6,000 points, a copy of Where to Find it in the Bible. The Bible is inspired. It is God's holy word. And as I said, Ken used audio visuals and he produced a film on the book in his steps. It's such a delight to see what God does with people and to know he has used them so effectively, so immensely. It's been a joy and delight to have guests here like Ken Anderson and Elmer Towns and so many other Christian communicators. One of my very special heroes who's now with Jesus, his wife Annette is still around, is Bill Bright. In the beginning of the book, the Bible book, actually the Bible, the transformer, Bill says he came from God. He moved among them. They were never the same again. The pages of God's word relate numerous episodes of Jesus Christ radically transforming the lives of ordinary people. Miraculous power was evident as never before. In each situation, the key was faith. Ordinary people believing and expecting God's love and forgiveness and expecting God to do wonderful things in their hearts, receiving him. Often it was just a simple act. The touch of Jesus' garment or common soil dumbing the eyes, but still lives were transformed. Bill Bright's as I traveled the world, working with staff from over 150 countries, I witnessed the same transforming power of Jesus in the lives of millions of people, including drug addicted teenagers and frightened lonely young girls facing the question of abortion for their unborn babies. When the word comes from God and moves among us, life-changing power is released. At the point when we seek his forgiveness by receiving him into our lives, we become children of God and are born again. What greater transformation is possible. The transformer lets us know the act of transformation. The hand of God is seen reaching into a world of darkness and turmoil, simply touching our lives in that simple moment. His miraculous power of love and forgiveness transforms us in the new creations with hope and new direction for our lives. Why is the transformer important? What could be more important than young people wherever they can be found on the mountain peaks of life or down in the most despairing pit being transformed by God's holy word? Some time ago, a minister who was a personal friend of Bill Bright's was contemplating suicide. He had once walked with God, was a great student of the scriptures, a proclaimer of the gospel and had a faithful ministry of introducing others to Christ. Now his first love was gone and marital problems had forced him to leave the pulpit. All the joy had gone out of his life and he had become a miserable, discouraged, defeated person. As we talk together, Bill says, he made this comment. There was a time when I spent hours in the word daily and as problems developed in my life, I began to neglect the scriptures. The time came when I didn't read it at all. And now in retrospect, I remember a warning that was given to me as a new Christian. Sin will keep you from God's word and God's word will keep you from sin. The transformer has news for those who have yet to experience most of life. Not just news, great news. The news that Jesus transforms human lives by forgiving destructive sin and purifying young hearts for a long, abundant walk with God. The Apostle Paul described this process to the Christians in ancient Corinth like this, but we all beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory. Saint Corinthians 3.19. There are many avenues for the transformer to really lead to transformation. The new beginning. It is yours to determine. Throughout the Bible, there are pictures of who God is and what he has done. Portraits that have been painted by people who were inspired by God to put the Bible together for us to look at, to read and to internalize so that we can become all that God would have us to become. I don't know where you are today, but if you don't have a Bible, we've got a free one for you. All you have to do is write to us.
