Telling The TRUTH
042112 Telling The Truth 28 Minute Program
[music] You're listening to "Telling the Truth" from Triple T. Christian Youth Ministries, "Telling the Truth to and Through Teenagers." Here is Triple T. Founder and President George Dumes. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Listen to 1 Peter 1.20 New King James Version. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you. That's the Lord Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Understand that God has always known about you. He is omniscient, He is omnipotent, and He sent His Son Jesus Christ to be born of a virgin, for ordained before the foundation of the world, and to be tempted but never to yield. Jesus became sin for us. He who knew no sin sacrificed on the cross, shedding His blood because you and I are sinners. We need to turn to Jesus from our sins, and then tell other people that we have received the gift of God eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord, and then tell them how they can be members of God's family. Pray. Read the Word of God. Fellowship with other believers, and then go with God's glorious gospel to someone today. Let them know that Jesus, for ordained, actually came to save sinners. And He will save anyone who is willing to admit they have sinned and turn to Him. You who threw Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead, and gave Him glory so that your faith and hope are in God. 1 Peter 1, 21, New King James. That's talking about Jesus, what He has done and what He wants to do for you. Have you believed with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who He says He is, that He was crucified, that He rose again, and right now He is seated at the right hand of God the Father, and He is interceding in our behalf, yours in mine? When you pray in Jesus' name as a believer in Christ, you can be sure that your prayers are being heard, and God will give you the answers that He wants you to have, precisely when and where you need it. God has a perfect plan for you. And, as we continue to exercise our faith and hope, believing that God has a plan that is beyond anything that we could possibly conjure up for ourselves, it's His plan. His plan for you. His plan for me. His plan for others who need to hear about Jesus. What will you do about it? Will you pray? Will you read the Word of God? Would you go with the gospel with other believers? To those who need the Lord? Listen to 1 Peter 1, 22, New King James Version. Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart. That is so precise. What a way to live. Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." No one comes to the Father, but through me. And because the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, you can listen to what He is saying to your heart, and you can move with sincere love toward other believers in Christ. That's why fellowshiping with other believers is so very important, along with reading the Word of God, and then going fervently with the gospel with a pure heart to share the truth with folk who need the Lord. Someone in your world needs Jesus. Someone you know could meet the Lord if you would tell them how. Will you? I hope you will. I hope you will let us know how we can pray for you so you can do it more effectively. We are a phone call away, and we are here to help you reach others for Christ. Having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible through the Word of God, which lives and abides forever. 1 Peter 1, 23, New King James. Have you been born again? If not, you are not headed for heaven. Jesus said, "You must be born again." He also said, "For God so loved the world." That means you and all the other citizenry, everyone who has ever lived. For God so loved you and everybody else that he gave his only begotten son, Jesus is talking about himself, the Son of God, God the Son, that whoever believes in him would not perish but have everlasting life. That's what God has done for you if you have been born again. And what he will do if you haven't, but you are willing to admit you have sinned to believe on Christ, to confess him publicly, to be born anew. The Word of God lives and abides forever. The wonderful thing about the Scripture is that they all fit together and they all give us God's plan for living, His plan for sharing, His plan for redeeming people who are now unredeemed, unsaved, lost. Will you go with the gospel to someone who needs the Lord? Because all flesh is His grass and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass, the grass withers and its flower falls away. Peter 124, the King James Version, what about you? Are you ready in case death knocks at your door? Only one life will soon be passed. Only what's done for Christ will last. Are you serving the Lord while your flower is blooming? Are you doing what He would be pleased for you to do? Do you understand that life is short? Death is sure. Sin the curse, Christ the cure. If you know Jesus personally, that's wonderful. If you don't, admit now that you have sinned. Believe on Christ and tell people now that you are a believer. You believe God did indeed raise Jesus from the dead. If you've already done this, tell people how they too can have life that lasts forever. Jesus has come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. While your flower blooms, spread the aroma of the good news of Jesus to everyone you possibly can. Pray, read God's Word, fellowship, and go with the gospel. The grass withers, the flower falls off, but the word of the Lord endures forever. 1 Peter 125, nukems. The word of the Lord, God's infallible, inspired Word, the entire Bible, all scripture is given by inspiration. God wants you to understand that His Word will never change. People change. Circumstances get rearranged, but the word of God endures forever. Hang on to it. Read it. Heat it. Pray about it. Ask God to show you how it can be applied to your life and your circumstance. And then share this good news, the saving power of the Lord Jesus Christ that is embedded in the scriptures that is found in the Word of God. Fellowship with other believers. Pray together. Read God's Word together. And then go together, taking the good news of the gospel to people who do not know the Lord. Let them know that all they have to do is to turn to Jesus, admitting they have sinned, asking Him to forgive them, and receive the gift of God. Eternal life through Christ Jesus, our Lord. If you do that, wonderful things will happen. And eternity will be the place of comfort for someone you love. Let the Word of the Lord hit you in the heart. Let it enlighten your mind. Listen to 1 Peter 2, 1 and 2, New King James Version. Therefore, laying aside all malice, all guile, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes desire the pure milk of the Word that you may grow thereby. That is really interesting information, isn't it? Telling us what to lay aside. All malice. All guile. Don't be a hypocrite. Be truthful. Be honest. Be upright. Don't envy other people. What they have, what they do. And don't speak evil of anybody under any circumstance, no matter what. Because, as newborn babes, when you first become a believer in Christ, you can desire the pure milk of the Word. That's the Word of God. Feast on it. Take it in. And be a part of it, and let it be a part of you. Because as you do this, you can grow. Grow in Christ. In the knowledge of the Lord, and be willing and able to fellowship with other believers, praying together, reading the Word of God together, and then going together to tell people how they can have life that lasts forever. Are you going to do something about this? Today, I hope you will. You can. Every Saturday at 7.27 p.m., you are invited to attend a live youth event at Triple T, 13,000 US-41 North at Boone Building Harmony Road, midway between I-64 and Evansville Regional Airport. Every first Saturday, a good news club for those in first through fifth grades is available in a separate area. For more information, call 812-867-2418, or visit www.tripletchristianyouth.org. [music] One word has been in the news for the last week. A word that brings up a lot of emotion. The word Titanic. The clear April night sky was filled with sparkling stars as the largest and finest steamship in the world, sped through the calm seas of the icy North Atlantic. Near the passengers had gone to bed, but some could still be found in the lounges, enjoying the Titanic's luxury. No one was alarmed by the slight jar felt around 11.15, but many noticed when they no longer felt the vibrations of the engines. Ignoring iceberg warnings that have been coming by Mark Conney's new invention, the wireless. The Titanic had been steaming full speed ahead. Suddenly, she struck a large iceberg which ripped her side. Within 15 minutes, the captain realized the danger of the situation and the wireless operator put out a call for assistance. Sailors made lifeboats ready and ordered women and children to get into them first. The Christian culture had stamped the ideas of civilry into men, making them willing to give up their lives for women and children as their protectors, something rarely seen in other cultures. There were 12 honeymooning couples on board the ship, although all of the brides were saved, only one of the grooms survived. The captain ordered the shipboard band to play to keep up the spirits of the passengers. They began playing a ragtime tune, but soon they were playing hymns. There were only 20 lifeboats on the huge ocean liner, barely enough for one-third of the passengers and crew. Not all of them even could be lowered. All 85 engineers continued to work to keep the ship afloat as long as possible. At the end, many people knelt together in prayer until waters covered them. Throughout the mournful evacuation, with loved ones being tearfully separated, the band continued to play. There was some dispute about what was played that night, but several people in the lifeboats heard "near my god to thee." One of the passengers traveling on the ship was headed for Moody Church in Chicago for evangelistic crusades. He was from Scotland, his name John Harper. He put his six-year-old daughter into a lifeboat, and then ran through the ship, warning others of the dangers, and talking to them about the eternal destiny of their souls. When he was finally forced to jump into the icy water, he asked another man, "Are you saved?" The man said, "I'm not interested." And then later, knowing that his life was about to end, he said, "Yes, I am interested. Tell me how to be saved." John Harper, the evangelist, said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved." Harper gave this man his life jacket. He clung to a very small piece of driftwood, and soon John Harper lost his life. A few years later, in a meeting of survivors, the man that John Harper shared the Gospel with, stood up and said, "I am evangelist John Harper's last convert," and he told the story. As to what had happened, many, many people heard the Gospel and came to know the Lord that night. When the Titanic sank early in the morning of the day of April 15, 1912, John Harper was among the 1,522 people who died. The band went down with the ship. The last hymn they played was autumn, which concludes with the prayer. "Hold me up in mighty waters. Keep my eyes on things above. Righteousness, divine atonement, peace, and everlasting love." As I said earlier, "Only one life will soon be passed. Only what's done for Christ will last." John Harper, in his dying hours, was able to get the Gospel to many people who will be in eternity with John because he cared. His little six-year-old daughter survived, was reared by an aunt, later married a preacher, and lived into her early 90s. What happens when you and I get the real compassion to share the Gospel with people? People need the Lord, people everywhere. God's Word is quick and powerful. In a sharper than a two-edged sword, we need to share it. We have a little piece of paper that we are giving out by the thousands. It's called God's ABCs. On the front of it is a picture of the billboard that says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." Telling the truth to teenagers and has our website www.tttchristianyouth.org. And a picture of some of the world's greatest teenagers carrying unfurled Christian flags. God's ABCs inside says, "A admit you've sinned, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3, 23. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. In Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6, 23. "Believe on Christ, for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that her believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3, 16. Confess Christ publicly as the sea, then if you confess with your mouthful Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes under righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10, 9, and 10. There's been a movie produced and has received lots and lots of attention. The problem with the movie "The Titanic" is that the story is false. It talks about greedy men pushing ladies and children aside so that they could save their own lives. But that's not what happened. The richest man in the world at the time was a man named John Aster. John Jacob Aster was kind of the Bill Gates of our day. He was the richest man in the entire world, and he asked his wife to get into a lifeboat, and he stood back on the deck, and he perished with the ship. Today in New York City there's a hotel named after him called the Waldorf Astoria. A lot of people have a lot of things to say about people with money, but I have met some multi-millionaires who have been absolutely ready to present the gospel through every means and media they can. And as I have seen these men grow, so I have watched them give of their wealth, I have been amazed. One of those that I met a long time ago was a gentleman who came over from Sicily. His name was Tony Rossi. Tony Rossi lived in Bradenton, Florida. He matriculated down there from New York City because of the orange groves. And he learned that people in New York like to drink fresh orange juice. Mr. Rossi borrowed a truck that was refrigerated that was used to transport gladiolas that were being raised there in Manatee County. But he bottled the orange juice and took that fresh, frozen juice to New York and sold it to restaurants. It was a hit, so he kept going back and forth. And finally, he had another huge idea. He decided to buy a tanker and to equip it with refrigeration so that the tanker could float up the Atlantic all the way to New York, filled with orange juice, freshly frozen and frozen. He was able to parlay those ideas into an organization that was known for fresh orange juice. As a matter of fact, every morning I have a glass of that orange juice with lots of pulp. Tammy, my daughter, likes it with almost no pulp to each his own. I knew his wife, his second wife, his first wife passed away. He married a lady who had been a missionary. She worked with an organization called Gospel Recordings. They took the Gospel on a record player with just a wind-up thing, and they were able to share the Gospel in the language of the people in various cultures around the world. Mr. Rossi became interested in getting the Gospel to people. One day I was sitting in his office in Bradenton, Florida, and he said, "George, everything here is mine. I own all of this, but I want to use it for God's glory." I want to tell you the rest of the story if you'll stay tuned, because you may not have heard of Tony Rossi, but you have heard of his product, I'm sure. As a matter of fact, you may have had a glass of his orange juice this morning. In just a moment, I'll tell you the name of the product and a little more of the Tony Rossi true story, so stay tuned. Have you ever heard of Tropicana? That was the name Mr. Rossi gave his orange juice company. He owned it all, but he decided to sell it, and they give the bulk of the proceeds to missions worldwide. What a wonderful privilege it was to meet Mr. Rossi, to know him personally, and to share the Gospel together in a couple of projects a long time ago. I've had the privilege of meeting other people that were wealthy and gave their wealth to the Lord. You cannot out give God. He won't allow it. I remember meeting a gentleman who had been selling insurance, and he had a great idea. I met him in a restaurant with a pastor and the evangelist that had led him to Jesus. The evangelist's name was Hyman Appleman. Pastor's name was Tom Haggai. The gentleman who had the insurance idea was Art De Moss. Hyman Appleman was one of the great evangelists. He had citywide crusades all across America. Tom Haggai was the younger brother of John Edmund Haggai, who put together a vast, vast ministry of training leaders, the Haggai Institute. And then I had the opportunity of knowing what happened to Tom. Tom went on to use his talents, and he became the chairman of the board of IGA stores across America. Art De Moss developed his idea. If you go on the campus of Liberty University, you will see the De Moss building there. That his family and foundation donated to Liberty. His son is continuing in public relations, helping Christian ministries such as Samaritan's Purse and Liberty and many others to further the news of their enterprises for God's glory. What a wonderful thing it is and a privilege to have known these people. To watch them be used of God and do something special.
