Telling The TRUTH
090311 Telling The Truth 28 Minute Program
[music] You're listening to "Telling the Truth" from Triple T. Christian Youth Ministries, "Telling the Truth to and Through Teenagers." Here is Triple T. Founder and President George Dooms. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." Sarah I had sent Hagar away. Listen to Genesis 16-7, New King James Version. "Now the age of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness by the spring on the way to shore. You cannot hide from God. God will watch over you and who will protect you. He will reach out to you. When the need is there, God cares. What about you? Are you running from God? Are you trying to hide from the Lord? Or are you walking in His light? And are you trying to share the light with those who are in darkness? Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." And then He said, "You are the light of the world." If you indeed are a believer in Christ, are you? Are you letting your light shine? Are you doing what God would have you to do? Do you know that God cares about you? And He cares about the people you could reach if you would be willing to be made usable and then used by God to reach people for Christ. Pray, read God's Word. Fellowship with other believers and then together work out the best possible plan to reach the people that you know and they know who don't know Jesus. Who do you know? Are you willing to go? This is the day. Behold, today is the day of salvation. An angel spoke, "Listen." And he said, "Hey, Gar, Sarah is made. Where have you come from and where are you going?" And she said, "I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress, Sarah. Genesis 16, 8, New King James. Don't try to run away. Do what God would have you to do, where and when He would have you to do it. Draw night of God and He will draw night to you. Resist the devil and He will flee from you. God loves you and He has a plan for you to pursue for His glory. He wants you to understand that people need the Lord and you are one person who could reach another person that no one else could quite reach the way you could if you would. So who is it that God has laid on your heart? Who is it that you are concerned about reaching for Christ? Will you pray for them? We get a prayer partner to pray with you. Will you read the Word of God? Will you learn the plan of salvation? Would you share the plan to heaven and away from hell with somebody who needs to know? God wants to make you usable and He wants to use you today. Are you willing? It's your decision. It's up to you. God will not force it. Know this. Hagar had run away from Sarai. Listen to the advice and admonition she was given. Genesis 16, 9, New King James Version. So the angel of the Lord said to her, "Return to your mistress and submit yourself under her hand." Wow, that's a difficult circumstance to be in. It's a very hard decision to make, but God will instruct you too. His angel came and ministered in a very personal way to Hagar. God will direct you also. Are you willing to submit yourself to the Lord? Are you willing to listen to what He would have you to do to say what He would have you say, to go where He would have you to go? I hope so. I hope you are reading God's word daily. I hope you are not only reading, but you are heeding what the Word of God says. I hope you are fellowshipping with other believers in Christ, concerned about those people who need the Lord. Are you? And I hope that you are willing to communicate Christianity to people and with people who are headed away from God, but who could do an about face and come to know Jesus and Him crucified and risen again. Hagar had run away from Sarai, but an angel came to her and gave her a very, very supreme promise. God will also give you promises and fulfill them. If you will delight yourself also in the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart. Listen to Genesis 16-10, New King James Version. Then the angel of the Lord said to her, "I will multiply your descendants exceedingly so that they shall not be counted for multitude." That is a mind-stretching promise, but God will do what He needs to do when He needs to do it for and with whom He needs to accomplish His purpose. God has a purpose for you. Read Romans 8, 28, and we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. What is God's purpose? Jesus Christ came to save sinners. God's purpose is that people will come to know Him. Are you telling them how? Will you? All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus, our Lord. People need to turn to Him and trust Jesus now. There was a conversation going on between the angel and Hagar. Listen. And the angel of the Lord said to her, "Behold, you are with child, and you shall bear a son. You shall call His name Ishmael because the Lord has heard your affliction." Genesis 16-11, New King James. Yes, God comes to the rescue. And He does things that are beyond our fondest expectations when we are willing to listen to Him. Are you? Are you ready for God's promises to be not only revealed to you? But are you willing to follow through and do what God would have you to do so His blessings can be abundantly bestowed from you upon others? First, pray. Then read God's Word. Fellowship with believers in Christ, and together, share God's glorious gospel with people who need the Lord. You have an opportunity and with it a responsibility, if indeed you are a believer. Will you personally go take the gospel? Somebody is waiting. Somebody wants to know. Somebody will listen if you will tell them the truth. To let them know that Christ died was buried and rose again and wants to give them eternal life. The angel of the Lord made a prediction about the unborn child Ishmael to Hagar. Listen to Genesis 16-12, New King James Version. "He shall be a wild man; his hand shall be against every man; and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren." What an ominous prediction and yet God knew what was going to transpire. He was well aware of all that was going to happen in the days ahead. God knows about you. He knows about every member of your family. He knows about every aspect of your circumstance and he cares. Sometimes there are difficulties that are very, very hard to ascertain. Sometimes things happen that are beyond our comprehension. God is God and he cares. He cares about you and he cares about the people for whom you care. And he wants you to have the compassion to go, to take the gospel of Jesus Christ, to those who need to know Him. There are people out there that are waiting to be told the truth. Are you a truth teller? Are you a Christian communicator? You can be, if you will. God's Word is quick and powerful and sharper than a two-edged sword. Use God's Word, share the truth. Hagar was endeavoring to comprehend that she was having an encounter from God's messenger. Listen to Genesis 16, 13, New King James Version. Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, "You are the God who sees." For she said, "Have I also seen Him who sees me? What about you? Do you know that God sees everything that happens? He knows everything there is to know. He is omniscient and He is also omnipresent." And this omnipotent omniscient, omnipresent God loves you. He said, "His son, Jesus Christ, to die, to be buried and to come out of the tomb on the third day so that you and I and all who will trust Him can live forever." God wants to present eternal life through you to others who need to know Him. Will you pray? Will you get prayer partners and pray together? Will you look into the Word of God and determine how to best share God's plan of salvation? His way of redemption for those who need to turn to Him? Do it today. Share. Romans 3, 23. John 3, 16. Romans 10, 9, and 10. Every Saturday at 7.27 p.m., you are invited to attend a live youth event at Triple T, 13,000 US-41 North at Boone Building Harmony Road, midway between I-64 and Evansville Regional Airport. Every first Saturday, a good news club for those in 1st through 5th grades is available in a separate area. For more information call 812-867-2418 or visit www.tripletchristianyouth.org. Have you discovered your destiny? The personal involvement that Jesus Christ wants to have with you is available. Let's listen to the story of the Philippian jailer and the answer to the question, "What must I do to be saved?" Acts 16, 9-34, New King James Version, tells the story. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them. Therefore, sitting from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samathras, and the next day came to Neopolis. And from there to Philippi, which is the foremost city of that part of Macedonia, a colony, and we were staying in that city for some days, and on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made, and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there. Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay." So she persuaded us. Not happened as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us and cried out, saying, "These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation." And this she did for many days, but Paul greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And he came out that very hour. But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities. And they brought them to the magistrate and said, "These men, being Jews, exceedingly trouble our city, and they teach customs which are not lawful for us being Romans to receive or observe." Then the multitude rose up together against them, and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into the prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. But at midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly, there was a great earthquake, so did the foundations of the prison were shaken, and immediately all the doors were open and everyone's chains were loosed. And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword, and was about to kill himself. The law of the land was when a prisoner escaped, the jailer prayed with his own life. But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, "Do yourself no harm, for we are all here." It was the jailer's decision time. Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes. And immediately, he and all his family were baptized. Now, when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them, and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household. So there you have it, how to be saved, believe. That one word changes everything. What you believe is the most important thing about you. Do you believe the Bible? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God? Do you believe on him personally, as your redeemer, your forgiver, your personal Savior? I hope you do. It takes faith, and the faith factor is extremely important. The longing within the life of every person seeking truth must finally be resolved. There's a recurring battle between the mind and the heart. Emotions long for fulfillment. The mind insists that real revolution is impossible. Intellectual activity breeds more problems and questions than it solves. But personal involvement with God is not primarily emotional or intellectual. It is volitional, an act of the will, an act of faith. This shouldn't be surprising. No solely intellectual process will ever lead a person to involvement in anything. No emotional desire will ever be fulfilled if it is merely an exercise of pure emotion. And we aren't just a combination of mind and feelings. As human beings we have a will that can arbitrate between our mind and our emotions and make an act of the will a decision. When this decision is directed toward God in receiving Christ as personal Savior, it is done on the basis of faith. So what is faith? Hebrews 11-1 says, "Now faith is a substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is not experimentation but moral certainty. Faith is a surety that comes to a person seeking truth. Faith is the ability by which we upon examination are certain that the Bible is actually the word of the living God. Even though it was written over the course of fifteen hundred years by forty human authors, we can see evidence of God's authorship. The Bible is totally inspired. And those people who wrote the scriptures were people on whom God breathed. Hebrews 11-3 says, "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God. So do the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. By faith we have total certainty that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Therefore we know that. His word is ultimate truth. First Timothy 3, 15-16, and then from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good word. His presence is ultimate reality. Ephesians 3, 14-19 says, "Something very important, listen. For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might through his spirit in the inner man. That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height, to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." This triumph in His universe isn't evitable. Romans 5, 1 and 2, "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have access by faith into His grace, in which we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." Yes, God has a perfect plan for you, a plan of redemption. And He wants you to understand that He wants to have a personal involvement with you. That's why God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live perfectly, to be born of a virgin, to walk and talk on planet earth, to do things that no human had ever done before, because He was the God-man, God the Son, the Son of God. And Jesus Christ came to save sinners, and that's why He wants you to know Him personally. How do you do this? First you admit that you are a sinner, all have sin, and fall short of the glory of God. That's you. That's me. That's everybody we know. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Jesus said it this way, for God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that her believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Are you willing to confess Christ publicly? Believing in your heart that God did indeed raise Him from the dead, I hope so. If you will, you can receive God's gift of eternal life today. Pray this prayer. I've sinned that I'm sorry. Please forgive me. I turn to your Son Jesus Christ and receive Him as my personal Savior. I trust Jesus completely now. Thank you, God.
