Welcome everyone to the propcast part of the sports gambling podcast network. It is Thursday, June the 27th currently 12 6 on the East Coast. Here to get into the 2024 NFL coach of the year betting odds. And picks for the upcoming season. We'll look back at the past winners of this award. See if we can find what the narrative is if there's a theme there. And we'll go through the betting gods for the coaches for this upcoming season. And joining me to help me break everything down happening on the grass and turf for the NFL season for this coaches awards market. Got my guy here with me. It's Krispy Kappen. Kris, what's going on my man? How you doing? What's up? Excited to be here as we get into some NFL coach of the year odds. We did a second show. So kind of easing into the regular season going through looking at all the moves and excited. Because you keep giving me these, keep bringing forth these cheat sheets for me. Not just for me, but for us all. All of our listeners as well that definitely kind of helps us kind of figure out what the narrative is and kind of eliminates a couple, just kind of narrows it down for us and makes it a little bit easier for us. So I'm excited to jump into NFL eyes for coach of the year today. Yeah, I know we already did the MVP odds for this upcoming season. So if you haven't gotten a chance to listen to that episode, got plenty of time to do that before we get to the NFL regular season. So like I mentioned, we'll be going through all the awards markets once a week here, maybe twice a week as we ramp up and get closer to the NFL season. And then we'll get into obviously season long player props, division preview, player props and all that fun stuff. So yeah, like I mentioned today, we'll talk about coach of the year. And like Kris was mentioning there, I usually try to put together some of the data that if they're trying to find something, a common theme, a common denominator, I guess we can say in some of these awards markets. So I've done it for the NFL. I've done it for coach of the year as well. And I think the last two years, Kris, is it's an example of that we don't know now what the hell the narrative is for coach of the year because 2022 we had Brian Dable of the New York Giants win the award. And you know, that was a year where before Dable got hired there. Yeah, he was a new hire in New York. He, the Giants, I should say, only had won four games. And when he came over, he took over. They won nine games that year. Didn't win the division. Had a negative point differential at minus six. They were the six seed in the NFC conference and the playoffs. Obviously an improvement of about five wins a year over year. And they did have the easy schedule that's that year. And I guess the note there was that that this was the first playoff appearance that year when Brian Dable was hired for the Giants since 2016. So I'd have been about six years since they had made the playoffs fast forward to last year. Chris, we had Kevin Stefanski win the award last season. And he did win the award back in 2020 for the Cleveland Browns. And I think that was a well-deserved award back in the 2020 season because he had came in as a new hire that previous year before Stefanski took over as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. That only had six wins. He got them to double digit wins that year. They didn't win the division, but he did something historic for this team. Where the Cleveland Browns had made the playoffs for the first time in 18 years. So when you have a coach that does something like that, I think definitely it's warranted for them to win that type of award. And that I think that was the narrative there. Last season, I had a lot of beef with this award. Kevin Stefanski did win it again last year. He was obviously a new hire previous year. The Cleveland Browns in the 2022 season had won seven games. He got them to 11 games last year. Didn't win the division. Did have a positive point differential about 34 points. They did have about a middle of the range strength of schedule there. Did make the playoffs obviously. But I think more so it has to do with what Joe Flacco did as he took over as a quarterback for the Cleveland Browns and got him to the playoffs. And I'm going to try to sound as biased as I can here. Chris, I'll get your thoughts in general here as well. I thought the MECO should have won the award last year. Because this Texans team in the previous three years had a combined. I want to say, I think it was nine wins in three seasons prior combined. And what did MECO Ryan said last year? Not only where this team had a win total of about six and a half. He got them to double digit wins. He got them the division as well and a playoff victory. I know it's a regular season award, but I don't know what more coach has to do what DeMico Ryan's did last year for a coach to win here. So we'll go through the odds here in a minute, but I kind of want to get your general thoughts. And those were the kinds I think over the last couple of seasons, that's where the narrative has changed about this coach of the year award. But I kind of want to get your thoughts about generality of what the coach of the year I think should warrant. Yeah, I mean, you took a lot of what I was going to say. Definitely think it was DeMico Ryan award to win last year. And if we go through the criteria here, previous wins, we're typically looking for a team to get double digit wins of some sorts, whether it's 10, 11, 12, or more that didn't win that many, well, they had single digit wins the year before. And that's exactly what we saw with you guys. Like you said, even if you combine a couple of the years together, it's actually where it's supposed to be that last year. And we talked about this earlier when we did the show last week on quarter or MVP odds. Now we have a greater expectation for your Houston Texans. So a lot of this comes with expectations. We see this across the same thing for NBA as well, right? It's always that team that either barely missed the playoffs or didn't make the playoffs. And then the next year, maybe have home court advantage and they finish a top four seat. When they win 20 more games than they won the year before. So I think very, very similar in that instance, it definitely should have went to the DeMico Ryan's last year. Because I mean, you talk about outperforming. And also when we talked about teams last year, specifically when we talked about quarterbacks on the broadcast and we talked about wanting to face some of these rookies, we did not see a performance like that coming from a rookie quarterback like you guys had. And we faded a lot of quarterbacks successfully last year, you know, and yeah, it just, I think that, you know, they definitely could have easily given the award to DeMico Ryan's with the job that he did. Not only did you guys get dealt with digit wins, but Houston Texas also wanted to vision. So yeah, you know, Jacksonville was expected to do a lot better than they did last year. I think we talked about that earlier in, you know, before the season started. And they under seeded expectations and the point differential plus 24, all of those different things. I think I thought it was DeMico Ryan's award to lose as well. Yeah, I think if you didn't want to make the case for DeMico Ryan's, okay, then I think what Dan Campbell has done with the Detroit Lions as well, I mean, that he has him and awarded for how terrible of a franchise they were for the what past decade or so. And for them to go out there and win the NFC North pretty comfortably with the record of 12 and 5. I think you could throw Kyle Shanahan's name in that conversation as well. They dealt with a lot of injuries last year guys being in and out. And that's really been a theme for the San Francisco Giants. So it's interesting to see, you know, what's kind of a transpire for this coach of the year award. And obviously there were several teams last year that had single digit wins and probably going to be looking at some guys that or teams that had were lasting their division and that that can probably make the jump to maybe making the playoffs or winning their division. I think that only helps one of these coaches on their resume for the coach of the year for this upcoming season. So we'll get all to that all to all of that here in a second. But let me remind everyone about the NFL season obviously coming up. And that's why you guys need to check out the sports gambling podcast. They've started their top 10 fantasy football preview series. The quarterbacks and Titans episode is already live. So make sure you guys check out Sean and Kramer as they've done their rankings and several too early, of course, to talk about the national football league. All right, Chris. So we'll do something similar to what we did last episode for the MVP. Obviously, this list will be a lot shorter because there's only 30 head coaches compared to how many MVP odds there were last year. So Kevin Safanti, who won the award last year, has the longest odds at 70 to one. So I think that it'll be difficult for him to win this award back to back season. Unless they go undefeated or something like that, crazy, something like that happens. Then you go to Dennis Allen of the Saints, 60 to 1 Todd Bulls, 55 to 1 for the Bucks, 50 to 1 for Andy Reed of the Chiefs, Brian Dables, 50 to 1, Mike McCarthy, 50 to 1, John Harbaugh, Ravens, 45 to 1, Nick Sirioni, 40 to 1. So all of these teams here and all these coaches here were either coaches that got their team to the playoffs or won their division, right? Tampa won the division with Todd Bulls, Andy Reed, obviously with the Chiefs. You could throw in Jim Harbaugh's name as their last year as well, where they won 13 games and they were the number one seed. So those guys, I immediately crossed off my list. Nick Sirioni there as well, 40 to 1 across Timov. So then, any of those guys intrigued you there before we keep climbing the list here, Chris? Not at all. They don't fit the criteria, you know. How about that, those guys as well, we're lined already. Yeah, so then we get over to the range of about 30 to 1, 35 to 1. There's three names here, which is Sean Payton of the Broncos, Kyle Shanahan, 35 to 1, and then Doug Peterson, 35 to 1. Sean Payton, I crossed off the media as well, because I'm not a believer in their quarterback situation there. Obviously, both nakes, they drafted, they traded for Zach Wilson. And I forgot who the third quarterback they have in that room, but not, I don't think I expect this team, especially the AFC West, where I think the other three teams improved, where I think expected different Broncos to be at the bottom of the barrel there in the AFC West. Kyle Shanahan, 35 to 1. I don't know what ELC has to do to win this award. Again, like I mentioned, probably have to win 15, 16 games, go undefeated. So 35 the one across Timov and Doug Peterson as well. If there's something in Jacksonville that's that's not clicking there. I think he's a good coach, but I don't think that he's warranted right now for me to put one down on when the coach of the year, they're Chris. Yeah, so my thoughts are very, very similar to what you said on two of the guys here, you know. So the Denver quarterback situation, Stepman is the other quarterback that's in that pool of quarterbacks out there. And I have no idea, of course, it's going to be really, really intriguing, you know, with a new quarterback at the helm, of course. No Russell Wilson being in Denver anymore. So that's going to be interesting, you know, up in it. And I just, yeah, to come out of that division, the AFC West with Kansas City, you know, winning anything is going to be difficult. And I know we're going to talk about the Chargers here in a second, but which is also a, you know, a new coach at the helm there. And then you mentioned Jacksonville. Like you said, we kind of talked about them kind of under exceeding expectations. I would say that if, you know, if they're able to, I mean, they have to do a lot more, maybe exceed the expectations that we kind of thought that, we thought that they would kind of run away with that division last year, Houston tripled up the wins that they had last year. And Jacksonville, you know, fell just nine to eight. So I guess Doug Peters has a little bit of a shot. I know he's returning a lot of the talent that he does have, but it's not enough for me to want to bet it. Not even piece of money yet. And then who was the other guy you said, you know, if you said, so those two in Shanahan and Peterson. Oh, yeah, definitely not not. So Shanahan, yeah. Like you said, what more can the San Francisco 49ers do outside of winning the Super Bowl? I mean, they do everything great. And you know, he, like you said, I'm not sure what has to be done there either. So yeah, I'll give a slight nod, I guess, of the three to Doug Peterson, just because I feel like they, you know, went under expectations. So much last year that, you know, there is room for improvement there, but it will have to be a lot of room for improvement. I mean, we're talking about maybe 13, 14 wins, and they would need to go, you know, pretty unblemished for, in my opinion, for, you know, for him to be in consideration here. Also just a plus six and point differential last season. And we, like you talked about, the point differential means a lot, most of the time in these situations. So yeah, I'm very concurrent with you on these three guys. Yeah, so yeah, these guys didn't really intrigue me there at that number of 30 to one, 35 to one for both Shanahan and Peterson, just because, again, we talked about the situation for Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos. Shanahan, I think, has already exceeded expectations. I don't know what more he can want in. Yeah, Doug Peterson, look, they have the talent in Jacksonville, but it's taken a little bit for them to put it all together. So we'll see if they're able to do that. And I think the jury's still out on Trevor Lawrence, even if you're after he got paid this off season to be the quarterback of the future for the Jacksonville Jaguars. All right, let's continue the conversation here for this coach of the year award. We'll go over to the next block of guys here. That's going to be three guys at 25 the one. You have Mike McDaniel, the Miami Dolphins, 25 the one Kevin O'Connell, 25 the one for the Minnesota Vikings, and then draw it Mayo new hire for the new England Patriots at 25 the one as well. So two of these three teams here, coaches, I should say, and teams. Chris are going to have new quarterbacks. And that's going to be JJ McCarthy with the Minnesota Vikings with Kevin O'Connell. And then you have Drake May and I the new the dynasty officially over with the new England Patriots as they are projected to be one of the worst teams in the entire NFL. And I think if John Mayo was not in the AFC East because you have again, the Dolphins with two and that offense, you have Josh Allen and the bills. I mean, they're going to be competitive to say the least. And obviously with Aaron Rodgers returning for the New York Jets, that we're expecting something similar to ice. I am not the Patriots are going to be at the bottom of that division, similar to what I think with Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos in the AFC West. You can make a case maybe here for Mike McDaniel, especially with the talent that they do have, but a lot of it does rest on the shoulders of two was staying healthy. So this is a team that ends up as a number one seed in the AFC conference. And you win, you know, 13, 14 games, does the Miami Dolphins. I think there's an opportunity there for Mike McDaniel to win this award. Last season, they were 11 and six were the Dolphins. They finished second in that division, had the same record as the Buffalo bills, but the head to head was a difference there. And they had an opportunity last year to win this division. They lost the final two games of the regular season, Buffalo finished a game, or first a season going winning letter last five games. So I think Mike McDaniel is the one name that did to treat me here. If you wanted to put something down here for a coach of the year for him here, Chris, but what are your thoughts on this block, guys? With Mike McDaniel, Kevin O'Connell and John Mayo. Yeah, no, no real thoughts at all. Like you said, New England is done. So no real thoughts on the last, those last two guys, you know, but you, you literally in my notes here, because Mike McDaniel is in the gap for me as well. I saw a summit plus 2000 and you mentioned it. First thing I'll say is the Dolphins can absolutely win this division. They had a meltdown at the end of the season last year. Like you said, losing, you know, finishing on a two game, losing streak, ended up being tied with the Baltimore, with the Buffalo bills. And of course, the thing for me that stands out for them, you know, is the point score. This team was what the second, third best offense, as far as points scored last season, nearly putting up 500 points. I think Dallas was one of the only other teams that outscored them. And the point differential was there. We talked about, you know, how big that is, you know, in these games. They were plus 105 and point differential as well. And you just bring back a lot of that talent. I love the, you know, hopefully the slim tour as we, we're gonna nickname them one to show, you know. Hopefully, hopefully the slim tour, you know, is good to go this year because, you know, you bring Raheem Moster back and you guys still got A-chan coming out that backfield, Tyree Kiel is still there in Waddle. And now you add Odell Beckham, Jr. and, you know, the corpse of his career. So you definitely, you know, I feel like I'm, I wouldn't say buying low because they did win 11 games last year. But this team, to me, feels like they should be motivated. Just the base on how they, you know, kind of let go to rope last year. Remember, too, it was in some conversations to win MVP early in the season. So you don't want them to, you don't want them to, you know, to plateau too early. But I think if they could put it together for full season, then Mike McDaniel definitely has a chance to, you know, so he would be the one guy, actually one of my favorites to, you know, because I just love the offense. I think a lot of it is, you know, building on the offense. So they could win, you know, two or three more games, you know, maybe get the 13 wins, maybe 14 wins, and they could stay healthy throughout the full season. Granted, you know, the grand scheme of things as far as the skill position players, they have a lot of talent on this roster, you know. So I would be looking at Mike McDaniel as well if I'm looking at any of these three. Yeah, I think that's a great call there. I'm glad we agree on that one end. I think it's something else that you mentioned there that you don't want them to plateau too early, because it feels like when they get to the month of December, that either you're dealing with a two injury or that you're not able to close up the season strong. And I think that's kind of been their demise over the past several seasons. But if they're able to stay healthy, I think that's the case where obviously all the teams in the NFL that I think there's a good chance that they can at least have a great regular season and win the division in the AFC East. So we'll get over to the two guys here, and then we'll get to odds that are 20 to one, but these two guys are at 22 to one. I didn't have any interest here. Sean McVay, 22 to one. It's, I think there's got to be a shift there with the LA Rams. Obviously Aaron Donald retiring. Can Matthew Stafford say healthy? It's another question. Yeah, I know they have, I believe, if I'm not mistaken, Stinson Bennett is still there for the Rams as the backup quarterback. I need to double check that. And then you have Mike McDonald of the Seattle Seahawks at 22 to one as well. So two coaches that are in the NFC West, I had no interest in either one of these guys here. Chris, do you have any interest for these two guys? Not at all. The Rams, you know, I think about this team as being a high scoring offensive team that also can get, you know, caused a lot of, a lot of chaos on the defensive side as well. And I think, like you said, we're Aaron McDonald, we're Aaron Donald stepping away from the NFL. Yeah, I'm right there with you. I think, you know, Rams, they typically are, and I do like some advanced coach, I think they'll be feisty and be competitive. But as far as, you know, taking home no war, no, and I won't even mention, you know, the counter to the addition that you mentioned. I think the Rams, you know, in McBae, just because he is such a great coach, I'll mention him. But I don't think either one of these guys have a chance to take home no war either. All right. So we'll get over to three coaches here that are in the 20 to one range. We have Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers, 20 to one, Brian Callahan, new hire of the Tennessee Titans, 20 to one, then Antonio Pierce of the Las Vegas Raiders at 20 to one. I thought last year that when they hired Antonio Pierce for the Raiders, I actually did or when he took over, I should say as a head coach there, that there was possibly an opportunity that he could win that award. And I did put some coin down on it and getting this team to finish eight and nine in that AFC West division. That's obviously, you have the defending Super Bowl champions, Patrick Mahomes in that division. But you take a look at what this team did last year in the regular season when Antonio Pierce took over as a quarter, sorry, as a head coach. Week 15 against the Chargers, they won that game 63 to 21. I'm just going to count up how many games they won in the final couple of weeks there. So they won three of the last four games of the regular season. And I think that's what's really made the difference there for the Raiders to win eight games. But last year, if we remember when Pierce was the head coach there for the Raiders, the guys were saying in that locker room that they want to play for this head coach and they want him to be the head coach there. Now, obviously, the downfall for Antonio Pierce is that he's in that AFC West division with Patrick Mahomes. Obviously, we already just talked about the Denver Broncos expecting them to be at the bottom of the barrel. But they did make some roster moves there, which I feel like this is probably a coach that I do want to put something down on at 20 to one. So I do like them there. I also do like Antonio Pierce as one of the guys I do have on my list. Brian Callahan, I think they're a year away because they're that transition period now because they're post Mike Gabriel era, they're post Eric Henry era, post Ryan Tennell here era. So this I feel like this might be a transition year for the Tennessee Titans. And I'm not sure that if they're sold on the quarterback situation there, right, whether it's going to be Will Levis, I think Will Levis is going to be the starter obviously, but you still have Malik Willis there as a backup there. So those two guys may be competing for the future to be the future quarterback of this franchise. And then Mike Tomlin, you know, we know that since he's taken over as a Steelers quarter or sorry, the head coach that they haven't had a losing season. But if you take a look at their schedule in the final nine games, I mean, it's in an absolute gauntlet. And now he has Russell Wilson there and Justin Fields there as well as a quarterback. So I think it would take it actually being that division, the AFC North Chris, where you have to deal with the Bengals, the Ravens, the Browns. It's an opportunity there that, Hey, if they win this division that Mike Tomlin, there's absolutely. But I just think that this is a year where I don't think that the Pittsburgh Steelers finished above 500 just because we take a look at their, their, their schedule for the second half of the year. I mean, it's, it's, it's a gauntlet to get through. So I thought it appears as the one that has piqued my interest here in this block of coaches here, Chris. Yeah, you made a lot of great points here. You know, if I think when I think about the Raiders, I don't know, I don't know what your thought is. But when I think about the Raiders in the second half of the season, you know, if I just think about cigars being lit in the locker room after the games, this was a team that, uh, you know, definitely had to buy in that they had coached, you know, so that can return, uh, you know, that's a lot of the, you know, the motivation is, uh, because they, I mean, the, the significant change that we saw from the beginning of the season to the end of the season for the Raiders was, uh, it was, it was significant. It was definitely a big jump that they took. Um, I'm not into taking coach of the years when I don't trust the quarterback as much. And you, you mentioned for, for both of those other court, both, both of those other coaches, uh, just that quarter, the, you know, the quarterback being, uh, played being, you know, just the tab that, uh, you know, I guess, uh, the word I'm looking for is, um, we, we don't know. We really just don't know what that, what that's going to look like, um, when we think about the quarterback. Will Levis, like you said, he probably will start, but there's also Mason Rudolph. You mentioned Malik Willis, like, like where, where do the, where does Tennessee go, you know, in that, in never guard? And then Pittsburgh, I kind of think about Pittsburgh as, um, you know, being in a, not, not, I didn't even know that about their schedule the second half of the schedule, you know, but, but that division is always, man, AFC know if it's always going to be really, really tough stuff. It wouldn't suck. Yeah. I mean, you got Baltimore there, Cincinnati is always going to be, you know, dangling around everybody in that division one nine plus games last season. So it feels like a dart throw, you know, even with Tomlin being such a great coach and, um, you know, Pittsburgh, uh, you know, having a lot of ways that they can improve that what happens with that offense, you know, if they weren't minus 20 and point differential last season, and we really saw them struggle to score the football. So, you know, upgrade a quarterback. How, how much does that mean? I think it's just too much of too much, a little bit of a dart throw. You expecting to play defense and run the football because that's where Pittsburgh has been doing for forever. But I'm not sure if that's going to translate to Mike Tomlin being the coach of the year. Yep. All right. We'll get over to the next block of guys here. We'll go with Shane Steichen of the cold stave canalis of the Carolina Panthers, new hire and then Dan Quinn, uh, I believe at the commanders, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah. Uh, so this block here, Chris, I'm kind of getting DeMico Ryan's vibes from Dave canalis here of the Carolina Panthers. And last season, this team was obviously in the bottom of the barrel in that NFC South division. Uh, obviously Bryce Young's first year is also the fact that I thought that Bryce Young was in a very, very tough situation because he really didn't have a lot of weapons there. Um, like I think CJ Stroud did, right? Because we knew the potential of Nico Collins. He just needed a quarterback there and we saw him flourish last year. Tank Dell before he got injured was absolutely flourishing for this team as well. And also being that division. But I think we can both agree that the NFC South division is probably the worst in the entire NFL. And for this team to win only two games last year, look, if this team goes from winning two games to possibly winning eight or nine games, I think nine games definitely wins you this division. I think you could make a great case for Dave canalis to be the, NFL coach of the year for the 2024 season. Last season, I mean, this team was two and six at home. They didn't win a single road game last year. Uh, did the Carolina Panthers. So obviously, the only direction that this team can go is up. Um, a lot of expectations said by their owner, Dave Tepper that they're quote unquote in wind now mode or you want to call it, but there's still a ways to go for this team. But I think that if there is a team that can go from, I don't say worst or first, but at least be competitive next year. Um, with the right guy in a place that it is Dave canalis. So I put a checkmark by his name. Um, odds of 18 to one right now. Dan Quinn being the NFC South and I know, or sorry, the NFC East and I know you'll expand on him from that division as well. I mean, we haven't seen a repeat winner in that division for what 20 plus years now. And then it's a brand new regime there, right? You have a brand new quarterback and Jane Daniels, you brought in, um, offensive coordinator. His name is slipping my mind. Uh, who's the Arizona. I'm talking about totally forgot to listen to Lee. What it's like. Oh my God. What is his name? Texas Ted head coach. Uh, yeah, you looked at him. I don't know why I slipped through my mind right now, but this offense is going to be a whole lot. I love a lot of different for, uh, the Washington, uh, football team or red skins or commanders, whatever you want to call them. But I think it's also very very clear. It's very godly. Can't believe I've got his name. Yeah. So again, the talent is definitely going to be there for this Washington team. Um, they also may be a year away from being competitive as well, because again, you have a brand new offensive system. You have a brand new, uh, head coach. You have a brand new, um, quarterback as well. Shane Steik and I am a fan of, um, I thought the winner between that Texans and Colts game obviously that had a huge playoff implications for the division last year. Um, that I think if Shane Steikin would have won this division, I think he would have won the award last year because they were without Anthony Richardson last year. I think after the first couple of weeks, really dealt with that shoulder injury and they were having, I think harder men shoe in there as well. And Jonathan Taylor to start the season was a little bit of a holdout as well for the contract situation. Um, so Shane Steikin, I am a fan of, uh, so, uh, I have those three guys there, Dan Quinn, Shane Steikin, I think with the highest upside, obviously with the team would be Dave Canales for me here, Chris, but were your thoughts on Steikin Canales and Quinn? I don't like any of them. You know, I think, uh, you know, look at that, uh, you sound a little more optimistic on Carolina than I do, but I think about, um, what we talked about last year, this team won two, two games. Of course they, you know, that there's going to be potential for him to come in. Canales is, of course, and, uh, you know, to, I mean, the only way they can go is a, right? They were a minus one 80 in point differential last year. And a lot of it was them really, really struggling to score. Do I think the defense will be a little bit better? I do. Uh, do I think that their office is still going to struggle? Yes, because what, what, what weapons do they have? You know, I mean, we could still better add them feeling to go over his, over his reception prop, but like, are we, are we really expecting Carolina to, you know, go like, what's shining new toys do they have? You know, that's going to be able to help them score the football. So I don't like that as much. Um, with my Washington commanders, you mentioned it, you know, kills very coming over. I think it's going to be going to be really, really good for the commanders offense, but it's going to take, in my opinion, you mentioned this as well. I mean, if it's going to take some time to jail, this, this commander's team only won four games last year, a lot of it was them, you know, really, really struggling to score. They only scored 329 points, which was by far the fewest points. Well, I guess I'll say second fewest points in the division, uh, because the Giants offense was absolutely putrid as well. But I mean, they really struggled to score the football. They turned the ball over a lot. Teams were able to score off the turnovers as well, getting really good field position. And I just think it's going to take a while for, uh, foot to jail as well. Whenever you get a new quarterback in, whenever you have a new shiny toy, like an Austin Ekler coming over from, you know, from, uh, us from the Chargers, I think that's going to take a while also, um, some of the offensive weapons are still there, but they'll still need that. They'll still need time in my peeing to build that chemistry. In the division, I think, like you said, you know, it's always, you know, kind of shifting and changing is very unpredictable. But I do think Dallas and Philly will, will be at the head of that division again, uh, you know, this, this year. So I'm not big on, um, you know, the, the commanders. I'm also not big on, um, this Carolina Panthers team either. Who, who is the other one that you threw in them, you know, Shane's taking other Colts, other Colts. Yeah. And, um, yeah, I would say him more so than anybody else, just because, I mean, this is a guy who lost his quarterback earlier. We know Richardson got hurt early in the season. So, um, in a very, very, uh, what pretty difficult division, you know, because I mean, they're in there with you guys, they're in there with Jacksonville. You're Houston, Texas and the Jacksonville Jaguars. So, um, they did win nine games last season. So I think it'll, you know, take a lot. They will have to probably win the division in my opinion in order for him to, to take home the award. So I'm not, I'm not in love with any of these here. You know, yeah, I mean, again, it's, this block, it's like it's coaches that taken over teams last season that were absolutely atrocious and they're going through a transition period. Um, outside of stiking, even stiking, right? Because you get Anthony Richardson back this upcoming season. Uh, and the Panthers with, you know, Bryce Young, like you mentioned, not having a lot of offensive weapons and then when sticking over a team, that's going to be moving in a brand new direction here. So, uh, yeah, I couldn't blame you if you didn't like any of these guys in this block here. All right. All right, Chris. Let's get to the top of the list here. We'll go start here with Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions. He's at 15 to 1. Jonathan Ganon, 15 to 1 as well. Raheem Morris of the Atlanta Falcons at 13 to 1. And then Matt Lefler of the Packers, 12 to 1. Of this group, we talked about the same thing with Kyle Shanahan. I don't know what else Dan Campbell has to do to win this award because his team won 12 games last year. They won the NFC North. I don't know after how many years. I thought last year was also the opportunity for Dan Campbell to win that award. But I crossed him off my list. Jonathan Ganon of the Arizona Cardinals. This team, I think, is very intriguing. Obviously, you get Collar Murray back. You added your draft picks last in this past draft as well. This team is going to be healthy, but there's still that NFC West. Where maybe some of the teams in the MC West do take a step back. We talked about the Rams with Aaron Donald retiring. You're not sure what you're going to get out of the Seattle Seahawks as well. The Niners, I know they're dealing with some contract situations as they're as well with Brandon and I, you, if they want to pay him or not. There could be an opportunity for Jonathan Ganon. I just wasn't a fan of the odds here at 15 to 1. Now, the biggest hype for this upcoming season is around the Atlanta Falcons, right? Because again, they brought in Kirk Cousins, Bijon Robinson from last year. This team has all the weapons. They have the easy schedule in the entire NFL. They're in that NFC South division. But last year, you take a look at this team. I want to see how many wins they had last year did the Atlanta Falcons. They had seven. So, it wouldn't be a big jump for them to let's just say they went from seven wins to 10 wins. I mean, having three more wins and winning that division, I don't think it's very overly impressive for me. So, at 13 to 1, I was an interested. I think Matt Lefler is one of the best head coaches in the NFL. Now that they are behind Aaron Rodgers and the post Aaron Rodgers era, I think that Jordan Love is going to have a pretty good season. So, if they're able to go out and win the NFC North, I think Matt Lefler's name will definitely be in that conversation as well. But up this block, guys, I think Matt Lefler was only one that made sense to me at 12, the one here, Chris. Yeah, these are coaches that I do like, you know, but I don't like the odds. Like you said, yeah. So, it feels like, man, we could get these guys were in the 20, you know, 20 to one market then. Yeah, absolutely. Like you mentioned, what more can Dan Campbell do? You know, I mean, they won the Super Bowl, would he still win? Would he be considered then? I mean, and we think about kind of going in that the Mico Ryan's category of you super exceeded expectations and didn't win their win their war last season. How much more can you do? It kind of feels like they, you know, unless they're, you know, you know, dealing with some severe injury to one of their key, you know, talent guys, then they probably won't win it this year and that goes for both of them. So, Dan Campbell goes in that conversation for me. Ganon, like you said, the Cardinals are sitting at six and a half win, a six and a half win total this season, human health, which is, which is, what, two wins more than what they had last season. So, not great expectations there. But, yeah, I would want to kind of get that with him. I do love, you know, getting Calamari back and, you know, him having, who did they get? You know, they had a big, why Marvin Harrison Jr. Marvin Harrison Jr. I do love that for Marvin Harrison Jr. But maybe a year, year early for them, you know, they only developed some chemistry. I do love where Arizona was able to do defensively for some parts of the season last year. So, yeah, I think the odds just aren't great enough. The floor, like you said, you know, probably the, in my opinion, the best candidate here, just because he's been a really good coach for a very long time. And now, like you said, getting, he's had his transition year. And we actually saw, you know, quarterback play a little bit better than we thought it would be last season. I don't think any of our expectations were that half a green based office. I know they weren't for me. And we saw them, you know, really kind of, you know, just kind of embrace, you know, the quarterback play that they got last season. So, the floor wouldn't surprise me here, even though that is a very, very difficult division because they'll be competing with Dan Campbell, of course. And then you mentioned Raheem Morris as well. You know, the Atlanta team was putrid last season offensively. They looked so bad. I never remembered some of those games. But they are projected to have nine and a half wins, you know, of juice to the over. So, the expectations are already kind of, you know, ramped up with the addition of Kirk Cousins being there, which doesn't make this one as sexy as possible. Of course, he's coming off an injury as well. So, yeah, I was not there, not big enough. Maybe if Atlanta was projected to struggle, yes. But, yeah, I think with the chemistry that they have to build and the injury status, or I guess I should say injury prone status of Kirk Cousins, I couldn't quite get there with Atlanta either. But LaFlore would be my favorite of these four. I think I would agree with you. I think for the Falcons, their success rise on the shoulders of Kirk Cousins. So, I know the odds are shorter for, I know we'll talk about comeback player the year in a few weeks here. Maybe even next week, we'll get to that category. But Kirk Cousins at five to one, I think obviously the odds are a lot worse than Raheem Morris at 13 to one. But I think that if Kirk Cousins goes out and throws four, four thousand yards, 25 plus touchdowns, and they able to limit the turnovers. I think that Hill's name will be in the conversation for comeback player the year. I know it's only a five to one, but I think I would rather do that and take Raheem Morris at 13 to one to win coach of the year. And I couldn't be completely wrong, right? Maybe they look past Kirk Cousins, say, "Hey, Raheem Morris came in here, turned the program around, and got this team to win the division and had double-digit wins." If they do get the double-digit wins, because I can mention their win total right now is at nine and a half. So, there is expectation there for the Atlanta Falcons team, especially being in that division, where we both think that this NFC South is one of the worst divisions. All right, so we'll get to the top four guys here that are on the list of favorites for Coach of the Year. We have to my guy, Tamiko Ryan's 11 to one. We have Robert Salah at 11 to one. And Jim Harbaugh, the Chargers, at nine to one. And then Matt Iberfluze of the Bears at nine to one. So I mean, they cost off Tamiko Ryan's because, and we talked about the top of the episode, I mean, for what he did last year for this Texans team, how do you top that? I think the only path for him would be that if the Texans end up as a number one seed in the AFC conference for the playoffs, I think that would be the only path for Tamiko Ryan's. Robert Salah, 11 to one. I don't think he's a good head coach. I think there's, if this Jets team underperforms this upcoming season, I think that he, there's going to be an entire shift in that coaching staff, you head coach, a new offensive coordinator, a new defensive coordinator. I know Robert Salah does have that defensive background when he got hired by the Jets, when he came over from the San Francisco 49ers, when he was a defensive coordinator there. But I just as a coach that as a head coach who has to manage the entire team, I don't think Robert Salah is that guy. So I don't think he should be warranted at 11 to one as one of the favorites here. Then you get to the top two guys here, 9 to 1, Jim Harbaugh and Matt Iberflus. Now, for Jim Harbaugh, this Chargers team last year won what only I believe what five games, but I'm not mistaken. Yeah, they were five and 12. So when you talk about upside, and I know they have a lot of Roth's return over there as well, you have a head coach that won the national championship at Michigan. Now he's going to come over. And try to see if he can duplicate that success that he had in the regular season with this Chargers team being in LA. Yada, yada, yada. You still have, you know, Justin Herbert there. I know they lost Keenan Allen. They lost Austin Echler. But I feel like I don't want to back a head coach that's coming from the collegiate level, even if it is Jim Harbaugh to the professional level. And I don't, I these odds in my eyes were very, very ridiculous here. Chris at 9 to 1, Matt Iberflus of the Chicago Bears. You get Caleb Williams. They revamped their roster, right? We talked about they brought over Keenan Allen, the mates moves last year to improve this team. And last year they finished step in 10, but you're also in that NFC North division where, you know, expecting the Lions to be a double digit win team. They won 12 last year. We just talked about a Matt LaFloor and George Love and the Packers there as well. So there's a lot of hype similar to the Atlanta Falcons with the Chicago Bears here with Caleb Williams. So I think that if the Bears go out and have a successful season, it's probably because Caleb Williams had a fantastic season. And you look at him for offensive rookie of the year where he is obviously odds on favor right now at plus 135. So this top of the list here really didn't excite me here, Chris. I mean, if you had, if I put a gun to my head, I would probably ask you to shoot me because I don't know if I can pick any of these guys here at top four. I mean, I think for, I think it probably have to be to me go out 11 to one because I feel like this Texans team is going to be in that conversation with the Chiefs as the number one seat or even the number two seat. I know it's going to be hard to throw on the defending champions. Obviously, when you have Patrick, my home is Travis Kelsey. But none of these guys at the top were really excited me here, Chris. Yeah, I'll keep this one short as well. You know, if none of these guys really excited me, either you took the words right out of my mouth, right? Caleb Williams coming in, he would have to have a, you know, a hell of a season in order for, for, for Matt to win this award and John Harbaugh, the Chargers, I just feel like they kind of lost too much. You mentioned him, you know, exceed expectations on the collegiate level, but that transition to the NFL can be difficult to me. Go Ryan's would be the guy for me as well. You know, I know I'm not too high because I feel like the eyes should be better. And I feel like you should have won it last year. And they exceeded expectations so much last year that I don't like the double dip and, you know, think that that guys will win it the next year. So yeah, I'll be right there with you. If I had to, it will be the make up, but I'm not interested, especially with the eyes that we get in here. All right. So that's the entire list there of NFL coach of the year here. So I'll go through my list. I think I forgot to mention one name here. I'm sorry. I don't think we discussed Zach Taylor of the Cincinnati Bengals. Bengals last year were 18. We'll quickly get to him and then we'll get to, you know, the guys that we will be putting some money down on. So Zach Taylor, obviously, of the Cincinnati Bengals last year, this team finished nine and eight, even despite not having Joe Burrow with the wrist injury last year. I know they also lost or traded away, I should say, Joe mix in. But there's a lot of hype for this team to come around and have a better season this upcoming year. And being that AFC North division, I think this is one of the teams that a lot of people are expecting that can make that leap from being last to first in that AFC North division, because they also do have the benefit of playing a fourth play schedule. One of the easier schedules you can say in the entire NFL for a fourth place, even the talent that they do have, right? With Joe Burrow, T Higgins, Jamar Chase, the defense as well, at least at front seven for the Cincinnati Bengals team. So and I think last year, they just have to be a last year, there were only one in five within that division. That's not going to get it done. No team was above 500. So that just tells you how difficult this division is. So if they're able to be a game or two better, not only in the division, but outside of the division as well, I mean, you could see the Cincinnati Bengals team winning 11 games, maybe in 12 games. And a lot of it, I think is predicated on it. Joe Burrow is able to stay healthy because I think we can classify him. Unfortunately, early in his career, being a injury prone player, because again, the risk injury, he had a torn ACL. But let's not forget he guided this team to the Super Bowl. They just fell a little bit short there against the Rams. But at 25 to one, Zach Taylor, I don't hate those odds because again, just the situation that lines up for the Cincinnati Bengals team here, Chris. Yep. Same, you know, 25 to one. It definitely feels a lot better than some of those other ones that we talked about that are shorter than 25 to one. Absolutely. And with the office, the talent that they have, you know, if I know it's his first year there, but with the office of talent that they had, you mentioned it, you really just need Burrow to stay healthy. Add a few more wins. The Cincinnati Bengals are sitting at 10 and a half wins and they're juiced over to modest 120. So I don't love, I don't hate that for for Zach and his body. All right. So those are now all the coaches that we went through here. So I only had a list of about two to three guys here that I will be saying something down here, Chris. So I will go. I will go with until pierce at 20 to one for the for the Raiders. I just think that this is a coach that the players want to play for. And I guess I understand they are in the AFC West Division where you have the Chiefs. But outside of that, I mean, we just said that this might be a transition year for the Chargers. We don't expect the Broncos to be good. So, you know, maybe there's a world, so world doesn't say world series. Oh, a Super Bowl hangover for this Chiefs team and maybe the Raiders could surprise you. I know that the quarterback situation isn't the greatest, but obviously you still have Devontae Adams. You have Max Crosby and the defensive line on the other side. So there may be an opportunity there for the Raiders. I mean, they could be sneaky. So 20 to one for Antonio Pierce for me, Mike McDaniel at 25 to one for the Dolphins is another name that I do like. And if you ask a pick name at the top there, I think Jessica's to the upside that there's no other way for this team to go, but up and especially being in that division of the NFC South is Dave Canales, but I don't love it at 18 to one. I mean, definitely shop around. Maybe there's a 20 to one out there, but I'm just looking at the draft Kings list, but I think those are the three names that I would excite me to have money down on for the upcoming season for the NFL coach of the year, Chris. Yeah, you when we got a couple of the same ones, you know, if I think Antonio Pierce for everything that you mentioned, the only thing I'll add is that outside of the, you know, the way that they were able to perform in the second half of the season is just that he's a players coach, right? Like he was a player, right? I mean, exactly linebacker, but it's like, so I love that for, you know, them continuing to kind of, you know, buy in and, you know, just kind of work hard for him specifically, work off for themselves, of course, as well, but work hard specifically. It just seemed like they're a very well, a tight, tight team. So I like that. And you mentioned Mike McDaniel's as well. I just think the offense that they have here, I mean, if you just need to, not just need, but you need to to stay healthy. The demise of the, you know, the regression that we're expected to see from the Patriots, you know, opens up the division a lot with them not being at the helm, you know, not having the keys in the division. And those are the two that really stuck out to me, you know, if I don't really even have like a super long shot at all either. So Dameko Ryan, as you mentioned, Dan Campbell, just because I kind of feel like those guys are, you know, are still in really good positions to be successful this year, even though they exceeded expectations last year, will it be the only other two? Yeah. And I think, I think if you're like, when we talk about this year, not, I feel like the narrative, this award down, the narrative has changed a little bit. So you may be able to, if you keep an eye on it, to find that value during the regular season, because those odds are going to significantly change for some of these, you know, head coaches. So, you know, depending on how great it will start to have, or how bad it will start to have, and the narrative that, hey, let's just say it's something similar to a Cleveland Brown situation last year, where Sean Watson, you know, wasn't there for majority of the season, you had Joe Flack will come in there and take over and lead this Cleveland Browns team to a, to a playoff spot. Those are the things that you may have to find in the regular season. So sometimes I feel like that comeback player that you're in the coach of the year award are kind of tied together. But I think this would be more of a situation and award category that you want to keep your eye on during the regular season, because like I mentioned, you are going to, you know, find maybe better odds or, you know, as these teams come out of the game and see how they look, you know, to, to, for these coaches and see how this their teams are doing, and the odds, I think will definitely reflect that. So, but it's always fun to always see the go through this coach of the year, and, and, you know, just kind of discuss the odds here before we do get to the regular season. All right, that is going to wrap it up for this edition of the Propcast NFL Coach of the Year, the upcoming season in the books. We did MVP, like I mentioned, at the top of the episode.
