Well Being with Don Oakley

Knowledge vs. Wisdom

Over the course of a lifetime, we can learn many things. Some are even useful and necessary. But at some point, if we’re lucky, acquired knowledge begins to feel tight-fitting. More of the same may be interesting, but not transformative. All such knowledge resides in memory and is therefore of the past. Wisdom comes from a different source. It is of the present moment; it is not personal, yet intimate; it has a freshness that is appropriate to the situation, yet we don’t possess it. It is the mystery of our being.
