Now, this morning's show in Boston. Billy and Lisa in the morning. It's just a great start to my day on kiss 108. Wow, good morning everybody. Welcome into the Billy and Lisa morning show. It is the well famous or infamous Friday edition of the Billy and Lisa morning show and Lisa Donovan picture perfect today. Oh, this is it. Low humidity temps in the upper 70s. Beautiful day. You know what it is? It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood. It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be smiling? That still puts a smile on your face, doesn't it? Yeah, just a beautiful day in the neighborhood. So we'll take that. The weekend has the weekend looking. I think okay. Yeah, I think it's 50 50, right? I mean, Sunday, maybe some rain. Yeah, maybe. Okay, we have a giant show this morning starting with the grand prize giveaway. What has this been two weeks in it has for two weeks. We've been qualifying people with tickets to see Timberlake. All of those winners already have tickets for Timberlake this weekend, but the grand prize winner is going to be announced this morning, which means they get tickets for both shows. They get an overnight at the fabulous Revere Hotel with the dinner on the roof deck. They get merged Timberlake merch. They get spa treatments. And we're announcing that do we have a time on the announcement eight 10 this morning, the grand prize will be handed out. And it is a crazy weekend for concerts. Now Janet Jackson and Nelly are in the garden tonight. And Lisa, you're going big ladies night tonight. Big ladies night. I'm the correspondent for the show. I can't wait. This has been a dream of mine for years to see her. I never saw Michael Jackson. I never saw and I like, I really want to see this show. Okay. When are you going tonight? No, I'm not going tonight. I want to get a video camera on Lisa at the garden. I'm going to be just dancing on my feet the whole night. I'm already tired. I'm tired. Yeah. Where aren't you going to fly across country to see Janet? I was going to go down to like Savannah. I think she was performing there because it's funny when she was here the last time it was the same night of Taylor Swift. Yes. Right. So I think that's why I couldn't go. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, girl girl. Yeah. That's tonight in the TD Garden. Now, tomorrow night and Sunday night are the Timberlake shows. Now, I know I'm going with my wife Michelle and we're going with Lisa and her husband Tim. So it's a double date tomorrow night. That's Tim from Milton. Yeah. Talk back to him. Talk back to him. And Winnie, you're going tomorrow night. I am. Yes. Who are you bringing? My girlfriend. You could sound a little bit more exciting. Oh my god. It's ladies night. Oh my god. It's a ladies night. I'm just waiting there for her. Winnie and Kate are on the town. So you got Lisa and the girls. Yeah. And you got Winnie and the girls. Yeah. And you got Michelle and her girl. Yeah. It really is a ladies night. Watch it, buddy. So wow, this could be a great weekend. Yes, it is. And then a little in-house news. Mikey via the V bros is having like a wedding party this weekend that I think we're all going to or some of us are. I was on the phone with our Mikey V yesterday and yeah, he was a little annoyed at Winnie. Why? Yeah. I guess he was getting calls from multiple people that Winnie said on the show on the air that Mikey doesn't need any money, many gifts for the wedding that he's rich. I didn't say that. I didn't say it like that. Well, you kind of did. He goes, he goes, can you, can you get a handle on her? You really can't. Have you ever gotten a handle on me? No, no, no. Okay. So we have a lot going on. Now the the new Quiet Place movie hits theaters today. Now, keep in mind that movie took in over 600 million. And Lisa, this is a prequel, right? It is. It's called day one. Quiet Place day one. Lupita Noogas. And I'm telling you, I want to see this movie. I loved the first two. I saw an interview. Actually, we're going to run a clip from the interview coming up in the entertainment break. But I saw an interview last night with Lupita. And who's the guy that's in the new Gladiator movie? He was in Stranger Things. He's her co-star in this Quiet Place movie. I forget his name. I don't know. Yeah, I know he's talking about to look up his name. Well, I want to see the Gladiator movie too. So there are so many new movies. Some are blockbusters coming out. So we've got me four is coming out on July 3rd, which is huge. We've got the movie nerd. He's our guy. We love the movies, the movie nerd mark. He's coming in this morning. Yeah, it's Joseph Quinn is his name. He was in Stranger Things. Maybe he'll be in the in the new season of Stranger Things too. Wow. So we got a lot going on in the grand prize eight, 10 this morning is going to be very exciting. I think we should have a buffet or something set up. Can I Uber eat stunken? You can Uber eats anything you want. Okay, it's the big Friday show. Don't tell me that. And I'll get Lisa's card from her. And no, I have yours on file. Come on, let's have a big party. It's going to be a beautiful day in the neighborhood today. And it's a huge weekend and it's new music Friday. Justin, give me a tease. It's coming up in entertainment. New music Friday. Yeah, Camila Cabello. She's been not teasing her new album in some collaborations with one of the biggest hip hop stars in the world. Let me tell you, she delivered. It's all coming up next. We're back with a Billy and Lisa in the morning on his 108. Hey guys, welcome back. Happy Friday going to be a beautiful day today. I say we kick things off with a greeting from the mayor. Happy Friday. It's the mayor of the South Bend. I swear I saw Auntie Bebbert, the dawn of summer party last night. Well, anyways, I'm off to P-town with my gaggle of gays. We're going to have wine, fabulous food. And we sort of have a Bill Bell check in the group. Every year he brings a young boyfriend. And this year, guess where this name is? It's Justin. Are you moonlighting? Have a great weekend, everyone. Off you go to P-town, buddy. We're the gaggle of gays. Oh my god, I love you so much. Well, I've never been to P-town. I've heard it's great in a great place. Yeah, P-town is an amazing party. You thrive there. They love you. Yeah, yeah. Walking around town. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're at some tight like P-b shorts that show off those quads. They're so true. They do have a nice tan going. Yeah. Oh, but with your quads prancing down the main street. Yeah, you'd be a hot item down there. Oh, man. Well, you know, the mayor of the South End loves me. Since the beginning, you've always been my favorite Justin. Now the entertainment update with a Billy Costa. Another reminder, we'll have the Justin Timberlake Double Play grand prize. We'll announce that at 8 10 this morning, meantime, big weekend in Boston this weekend, Janet Jackson and Nelly in the TD garden tonight. Justin Timberlake in the garden tomorrow night and again, a Sunday night. And most of us will be there in the garden tomorrow night. Me and my wife, Michelle Lisa and her husband, Tim, Winnie and her girlfriend, Cage. That's what I call it. That's what you call it. That's your nickname. That's not interesting. I've only met her for five seconds in his concert and I already have a nickname for her. Yeah, that's very you though. Doesn't seem right. So Jelly Roll is adding more dates to his tour and also more artists to join him on tour. Shabuzzi is one of those artists, but Shabuzzi will not join Jelly Roll in Boston. That's because Shabuzzi is in Boston a week before Jelly Roll. But yeah, he's expanding the tour and he's also adding you're ready for this Garth Brooks daughter, Ali to several stops on the tour. So that's kind of cool. And it's new music Friday. I say we get right into it. Justin as the musical director for the Billy and Lisa Morning Show. Where do you want to start? Well, remember we had that tease of the Kid the Roy song that we really liked? It was called Girls. It's been on TikTok for a while. People have been using it, but the full songs out today. I think we like it. See the Kid the Roy has the formula down pat, right? All of his songs are two minutes. That's your format. But also he has one part of the song that he knows is going to go super viral that people are going to use. I was going to say I've heard this part so much. For months, right? I feel like I know the whole song. For months. Yeah. And it's just that that beginning. And they dance to it. The fact that it hasn't been released is actually crazy to me. Yeah. We had a tease of this yesterday. Lil Nas X says that he has the best song of all time coming out. It's out today. It's from the Beverly Hills cop movie, the new one. And you might remember older people. The Beverly Hills cop movies had the theme song to it. Oh, yeah. So the tease we had yesterday was kind of short. And I haven't been thinking to myself, man, that'd be cool if he used the original theme. Yeah. Turns out he did. Least. Here we go. He slows you down, but it's still in the mouth. I like that. Yeah, I like that. You slowed it down. Yeah. I do like that. One more to get to here. Camila Cabello, her new album is out. She's been talking about these Drake collaborations. I don't know how she got to Drake collabs. I know how she got to Drake. Well, we'll just we'll just say mom on that. Anyway, we'll have one of them here for you. It's called Hot Up Town. It reminds me of what he did with Rihanna. Remember? Work. Work. Yeah. It reminds me of that vibe. Very good. Yeah. Which I and I loved that collab. I mean, that was a good that was an amazing song. Yeah, Drake's, you know, he's going through a rough patch right now from his feud with Kendra Klamari's kind of on the downside after that losing that beef. Maybe this will help him. Why did Drake lose that? Well, Kendra Klamari just, you know, his dis songs were just better. His son, not like us is probably one of the greatest dis songs of all time. He uses the thing of Drake's a great great artist, but he came from like being a child actor under Grossey and Canada. And then you have Kendrick who's from Compton, like they just have different backgrounds. I feel like Kendrick really knows how to go for the jugular. Yeah, you never want to take on Compton. It got so the dis song was so good from Kendra Klamar that Drake at a recent concert actually performed the dis song from Kendrick Lamar. He did that. I think it's kind of cool that he did. Yeah, he's like, you know what? I got no rebuttal on this place. Let's go. Yeah. So yeah, the new Quiet Place movie hits theaters today. The original took in more than 600 million. Lupita Nwango is in the movie. She went on Kelly Clarkson yesterday. It is a prequel. We see the world when the creatures first arrive. Yeah. Was it fun? Were you excited to sign on? I was successful thing already. Yes. I did. It was. And I thought it was like really an innovative way to tell a story to make everyone quiet and to make sound kind of like the enemy, the stakes are so high with sound. Yeah. And it was really fun to get into this. And it's a different sort of story. We definitely are expanding what this universe can do with this story and really looking forward to people seeing it. Interesting too. Apparently she's terrified in real life. She's terrified of cats. I hate cats. And had to go to cat therapy because she pretty much holds a cat through a lot of the movie. And she had like a therapy to be able to do it now. All right, Lisa. But we've got Mark the movie nerd from showcase cinema is going to be joining us this morning and talk about all the big movies coming in for the summer. By the way, the first trailer from the new Mark Wahlberg Denzel Washington movie flight risk dropped yesterday. We've got a clip. We're ready is very disappointed in you Winston. And he wants you dead. We need a made it made it. We've been compromised. The pilot to hit man. I want to see that. Mark's ball for the movie. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I don't have a ball. Just the little cap. But no, when they were in two guns, two guns together, that was a good movie. Yeah, they work well together, Denzel and Mark Wahlberg confirmed late yesterday, shifty shell shark shark. Yeah. Shark shark shark shark. You know what? I really don't know what he said at the end of this. I'm thinking that's what he said either. You know, I know you were going to find a way to use that from last night's debate. Anyway, shifty, sadly, confirmed yesterday died of an overdose. That is sad. That is sad. LeBron's son, Bronnie James drafted last night by the Lakers. Here was the call. With the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA draft, the Los Angeles Lakers select Bronnie James from the University of Southern California. Yep. The first father son duo on the same team in NBA history. That's going to sell tickets. I just, I can't, I don't, I mean, it's a little controversial points. He didn't even start and they weren't even a good team. Yeah. I mean, I try to think of it as a dad. If I, you know, it's my dream to play with my son. Man, that's a great story for the NBA. Your son having actually be prepared for something and not be put into something he's not ready for. Well, we'll see. We'll see how good he does. Well, the thing is too, they're saying they only want to play in the G League. He should go out draft and go to the G League, which is basically, you know, the Meyer Leagues. Good story for the NBA. I think, I can't, I can't get behind it. I think they're a great family, and I think that LeBron's great, but like, I just can't get behind this because no one else would have good drafted this way. Yeah. With, he averaged four points a game, though. Okay. Okay. I'm such a winer. I am a winer. I try to bring levity into the situation that he's a nation, but not a superstar. Good news this morning, poor Zingas had successful surgery yesterday on the leg injury, but they say it's going to be five, six months of recovery. That wasn't, they say a rare injury. They're still not giving details. So the Red Sox going to host the San Diego Padres out at Fenway Park tonight. The other night, Alex, the call her daddy girl, was at the Sox game. You know her, right, Liz? I do. Pretty big. Yeah. Pretty big deal, right, Lisa? Yeah. Boston is out super AK your father. Love you. Daddy. A little shout out to meet Boston, my new TV show. Was that so long? Wow. That's awesome. She's huge. Did she call you daddy or no? No, I've never met her, right? But I'll take the plug any day of the week. And now there's Jimmy Kimmel and his wife on Stern this week talking about a party at Paul McCartney's house that they went to. It had Taylor Swift DJing and had everybody from Paul McCartney to Bruce Springsteen to Mick Jagger and basically everybody who's anybody at the party they talked about. Well, I think what you do in a party like that is you gravitate toward the people you already know and you go, can you believe that this is happening and that we're here? Yes. And you kind of leave it at that. I was in the corner with Jack Anderson and Courtney Cox. So I was so relieved to see because it was one of those parties. I didn't know how to hold my body. I didn't know where to look. I didn't know what to do. It was like, well, Molly, you didn't go over to Bruce Springsteen? No, I would never. What did you say to Bruce? He's funny. You know, we had a good chat. Do you talk about music and the tour or do you try to like at cool? We talked about Elvis and we talked about, I don't know, just being in LA and we even had that moment like, can you believe this party? I mean, even Bruce Springsteen was like, this is some party. Did Courtney Cox and Bruce Springsteen dance? Did they do that? I wanted that to happen. Yeah, we wanted that to happen at Bruce's show. We're trying to talk her into going to his show and just getting up on stage and dancing. And she's like, do you think people would want that? I say, yes, people would want that. A lot of people forget that's where Courtney Cox got her start in a music video with Bruce Springsteen. That was staged, right? It was where he brought her up on stage. But you know, it's an A-list party when Bruce Springsteen is like, wow. Hey, we're brought to you by Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club. Well, the summer blockbusters are about to arrive in theaters across the nation. Let's go to the movies, Justin. Yes, we've got the movie man. Otherwise known as the movie nerd Mark from Showcase cinemas on the line. Good morning, Mark. Good morning, guys. How are you? We're good. We're doing fine. So you guys must be going crazy because today the Quiet Place movie hits theaters. This is a big one. Yeah, it's a big one. And it's actually it's a very special day. That movie opens today. Quiet Place day one. And I am kicking off a tour with your own Mikey Pete. We are doing a tour from movie nerd, movie lovers, and we're going to theaters throughout our circuit. But tonight we're kicking off at Superlox and Chestnut Show. Okay, Mark, I need to interrupt you for one second, because if you're going to be touring with Mikey, we love Mikey Pete. Yeah, if you're going to be touring with Mikey, it's Mikey V. Yeah. Oh, I thought it was Pete. There could be a Mikey P on there somewhere. But the guy you're touring with is Mikey V from the V bros right here on Kiss in the afternoon. But what is it like a marathon that you and Mikey? This is Mikey Pelosi. This is Mikey Pelosi. Oh, Mikey. Oh, it's Pete. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So you are in fact touring with Mikey Pete. Wait, what is he doing? I don't know. I don't know. But I'm sure it's going to be. Mark, are you touring as movie Mark, like the movie nerd? Are you wearing your merch? Yes. And Mikey Pelosi is also a movie nerd. And he and I are doing this tour throughout the summer and then through the fall. Yeah, he's a movie nerd too. Yeah. So you're on a summer tour with Mikey Pete. Pete. Yeah. I knew it. Wow. I didn't see this coming. I didn't hear it. It's just so cool. Boy, all of a sudden, I don't even want to talk about the movie smart. No, it's just cool because no, they should come out. People come out tonight because we've got the costume from a quiet place. They want a super luxe. Very costume that La Pita, Nyong'o, wears throughout the whole movie. Oh, wow. There. And so you can come and see the costume. And then we are also celebrating. This is this is news. We are voting best luxury theater in Boston by Boston magazine. Oh, awesome. Congratulations. There we go. Yeah, yeah. So we're excited. We're celebrating. So quiet place, the new quiet place movies expect to do huge numbers, right, Mark? Huge numbers. Yeah. We're looking at 50 million for the weekend. The reviews have been great. Everyone loves it. Everyone's talking about the cat. I don't know if you've seen the piece. Yes, we have. Apparently she had the cat lives, the cat lives, the cat lives, and that's whatever one's worried about. And apparently, La Pita, I saw this last night, was terrified of cat. She had to go to cat therapy just to do the movie with a cat. No, I'm not even making that up. Next, you're going to be telling us you're touring with the cat. There's photo photos of her during press with the cat. When does Despicable Me 4 come out, Mark? That comes out next week, July 3rd. And that's next week. And everyone's loving that movie that our team saw it last week. And they loved it. They said they were laughing throughout the whole thing nonstop. And I'm going to say inside out too, has just brought people back. We've had a million people in our theaters throughout the US theaters, and then we have theaters in Latin America and UK. A million people last week came through our theaters. And they're back. And that's exciting. That movie really brought people back. And by the way, Mark, we got to go. But Horizon Costner's movie. I think hits theaters today as well. That opens today. And then the second part opens in August. And keep an eye out for the movie nerd and Mikey P. out on tour this weekend. It's OK, cinemas everywhere. It's the most random pairing of people. It's amazing. Mark, we love you, buddy. I hope you sell a lot of t-shirts. We love you. Oh, my God. Coming up, this is so cool, Justin, with the Karen retrial. We've got Catherine Loftus and Coop outside the courthouse. Kiss 108. Hey, guys, so welcome back. This is so exciting. Obviously, the Karen read story is the story. We've got our legal expert, Catherine Loftus in studio. Good morning, Catherine. Good morning, everyone. Thank you for coming in on a Friday morning. We appreciate it. The jury is still out. The verdict is not in yet. And how about this? We've got Steve Cooper from Channel seven news live outside the courthouse. D say hello to Catherine Loftus. Hi, Catherine. Good morning. Good morning. We're selling Coop at the courthouse t-shirts. You know, that would be a bad idea. I'm just saying. So Coop set the scene. What's it like outside the courthouse right now? All right. Well, the Karen read supporters are out once again in full force. The pink t-shirts are here as well. And I call it Camp Karen because they get the 10th set up. They have fruit salad. They have donuts and coffee. And, uh, you know, everyone's out and they are hoping today will be the day that they'll get a birth. No, Catherine, what do you think? You think today is going to be the day because it's Friday going into what we can? My feeling is no. I think they're going to go into next week. That's my, that's my gut. And again, that's what are you basing it on? I think that, um, that they're obviously really thinking about it. Everybody who thought, well, we're gonna come back in 15 minutes. You know, this is an eight week trial. Generally we say half a day to a day for every week of trial. The only asked one question on the end of the first day or the beginning of the second. I would guess that there's a couple of holdouts and they're not if you do have a holdout and you have, you know, one or two people, three people that are not going to change their mind, it's going to take some time. It's going to drag it out a little bit. Now Steve, I know you're outside the courthouse and you're always looking for really good angles and you're usually the guy that gets Karen to talk, that gets her lawyers to talk outside the courthouse. I'm gonna give you a little tease. Okay. The place to hang now, if you're looking for a story, Coop, is the bar at the Omni Hotel Seaport. Just mark that down. Okay, Steve. No one I couldn't talk to them yesterday. That's where they were going. That's where you want to be late night at the bar at the Omni. That's where you get the scoop cut. I appreciate it. Oh, you can put that on the back of the t-shirt, Coop. The Coop scoop. Isn't this on the front? In the back. So Steve, what are you thinking now for today, honestly? Yeah, well, it's weird because, you know, yesterday, I realized that saw the jurors four times they walked in at nine o'clock in the morning, they walked out at nine o'one. They came back in at three forty five and walked out at three forty six. And I've seen a lot of juries and I was studying them yesterday and not one of them looked up as they walked into the courtroom. Not one of them made eye contact with me. I mean, I was staring at all 12 of them and then the two alternates and they look drained and they look weary and they look like they got a lot of stuff on their shoulders right now and they know they arrive at the courthouse with a bus and that they're in a charge bus, but there's a police cruise in front of them, a police cruiser behind them. There's a lot going on with them right now. And it was just an interesting dynamic. The fact that yesterday, no questions, but they did say in the afternoon that they wanted to go home for the day. And I thought that was pretty interesting. And I think that goes to what you were saying, Steve, that they're taking it seriously. There's loads of evidence. I mean, this, how many witnesses, probably 75, 80 around there, we have, you know, documentary evidence, we have physical evidence, we have text messages, we have Google searches, we have the accident reconstruction. This is so much for them to go through. In what you, we do want to jury to take the time to look at all the evidence so that even if it comes back, you know, whatever way, whether people are happy with it, you know that they actually took the time to consider the evidence. And really, that's all we can ask about jurors. There are some rumors about infighting among the jurors, right? And that usually happens when it goes this long. Well, and I actually don't think this is that long. I really don't. We're only a company, you know, we're on day four. And the first day was really half of a day. There's always going to be disagreements. And that's what about it, what it's about, because it's always like we have here, people have different perspectives, people have different backgrounds. So when you go into the jury room, you know, one juror might look at a piece of evidence one way and somebody else looks at it another way. And the question is, can they come to a compromise and see it, you know, come to a decision? How long can deliberations go before the judge steps in? So there's no hard and fast rule generally. So we saw in the Chezna trial, there was a mistrial declare there that went almost two weeks. So usually what will happen is, I would bet if we go into next week, the jurors, if they come back, they say that they're at an impasse, the judge will read them an instruction about go back, think about it, you're in the best situation. You 12 jurors are the best people in the entire world to make this decision. You know, and after that, if they still can't decide, that's when the judge decides whether to declare a mistrial or not. Steve, I know you're busy out there in front of the courthouse. You probably have to go with a live hit or something. Thank you so much for doing this with us, Steve. We really, have a question for him. I need to ask you since you're down there, I'm hearing rumors that because the cornhouse is so old that you can kind of hear the juries just deliberate. Is that true? I think the jurors can hear the people outside. I love it the other way around. Okay. Yeah, I mean, I don't think, you know, I think that's one of the things, right now, they're doing such a great job. The court office trying to protect the jurors and, again, the back room, they really, they have that buffer zone set up and the police are inside. They're outside and they're really, you know, everyone's sort of adhering to the rules right now. There are chants going on. There's often there's some rallies getting to, you know, makeshift rallies happening. But I mean, for the most part, everyone's just sort of on pins and needles right now, because, you know, we're coming up on a Friday, the end of the week, people are thinking, you know, this is a TV show. This is when it's going to end. If it goes into next week, you're up against the 4th of July and the day after the 4th of July. So are they going to be deliberating? Is the judge going to make them come back the next day? Just a lot going on right now. And I think everyone's just nervous and they're anxious. And that's what we saw with Karen yesterday. I mean, we used to be able to speak with her morning, noon and night. And yesterday, I mean, the security took around the opposite side of the building. It's getting more difficult to get to her and the attorneys. And I think there was nervous as everyone else. So Steve, as a journalist, waiting for the arrivals outside the courthouse this morning, do you have a specific mission, something you really want to get done? I mean, I think just hoping that you can get the question of the day into Karen, first of all, because she's the defendant and then secondarily to her attorneys and to hear if you can get any insight from them, you know, they're meeting behind closed their doors, they're hunkered down for hours yesterday. And when they come out, you want to know what are they thinking? What are they? What are their concerns right now? You know, you heard what everyone else is talking about? But what are they thinking right now? Because, you know, hanging over her head is a life sentence. And that's a pretty weighty thing to go to sleep at night and think about it. I'll tell you what they think of their nervous. It didn't look like it was weighing on her mind last night. But listen, okay. Are you gonna explain that? The omnibar seems to be a fun place at night. So we but uh, allegedly, yeah, Steve, we got to move on. But thank you so much. We may call you again, Steve. Okay. And I think we just lost a signal. Well, you got satellite dishes all around. There's media from around the world. You know what happened, Billy just made that comment and Steve hung up. Yeah, guess what? A topic time is coming up and Billy's gonna explain that comment. Want to see what I mean, please. What is the topic? Today, we're going to be talking about Billy and Lisa present topic time. Talk amongst yourself topic time. Okay, it's topic time on the Billy and Lisa morning show. Okay. So Justin, here we go earlier in the show. I made a comment about a bar that people are hanging out at. It's the omnibar at the omni hotel in the seaport district. And there's a video that exists this morning. In fact, Catherine, you walked into the studio. We've got Catherine Loftus in studio. You had it on your phone. Now, Winnie has already posted the video posted. If you go to my Instagram in Winnie's world, is there or kiss when we Instagram it's there. It's a very pretty good look at a person, a woman in a in a mail that look a lot like Catherine. I'm not sorry. Karen and her attorney, Alan Jackson looking very cozy. Yeah, together. There are some people are saying the videos fake. It's a cheap fake is what the big phrase is now. But, I don't know, Catherine to me, but what do you think? It looks it looks like so I think it's like a live video. It looks like somebody pressed it and outside the bar. I mean, look, it was in the seaport to me. So it's Karen hanging out at the bar with her lawyer. They're not at the bar. They're outside of they're outside on the sidewalk. Yeah, I should add, we don't know if it's real or not. We don't, but we got this show, a legend. This show did get some rumblings about a week or two ago that something was going on. We didn't know if it was true. We just were like, Oh, okay, it's hearsay. And now this video comes out. So yeah. And what's this story about a big party last night? There was like a kind of a scuffle? Well, what I have heard is that the, you know, not a party. The Okey family was gathering close to the courthouse because as the judge said, she wants everybody within five minutes to come back and you know, is that family and friends because they all want to be able to attend, you know, and they want to be close. And that maybe the kind of other side of the aisle, we found them at the hall and there was a problem that we said to you know, it's just, you know, I think that we've talked about it a lot. But what's gotten lost in this is that somebody has lost a life. That person is John O'Keefe. He has a mom, my dad, brothers, you know, his niece and nephew. And no matter what you think about the case or what side you're on, I think the best and right thing to do is leave those people. Yeah, exactly. I mean, we let them reflect outside the courtroom. Certainly don't need coffee very quickly before we go to the phones and the talkbacks. You see a possible hung jury? I do. I think there's a chance. I think there's a decent chance of it every day that goes on. I really have a hard time believing that there's going to be a guilty on anything. So that leads me to believe that the longer they go, they're at an impasse. What's the difference between a hung jury and a mistrial? So a hung jury is the same thing as a mistrial. It's just what, so a hung jury means that the jurors cannot agree. So that in order to come to a verdict, you need 12 unanimous fagility, 12 unanimous fenochility. If they cannot decide, that means the jury is hung and then the judge declares a mistrial. So they're kind of one and the same. It's just the legal, um, ramification is the mistrial. If they start over, if they start over, how long would that take until it goes to trial again? So, um, it depends on the court schedule and how fast they want to get it done. I mean, they probably could do it within a couple of months. Um, I can't go through that again. I know. I would, I would bet if, if they do it the second time, my thought is they would probably drop the second degree, go on just the manslaughter, shorten the case. Really, you know, the, the only positive thing really for the mistrial, for the commonwealth is there's no positive for the defense because you have to go through the whole thing. But for the commonwealth, they basically get what we call a second bite at the apple. They get to see all the flaws that were made and problems, the different problems. You could use a different prosecutor. You could ask different questions. Definitely. It could theoretically be presented in a very different way. The second time around, it's topic time. Karen Reed is obviously the topic. You can call us 6179311108 or send to talk about it. Let's go to the phones in Michelle. Michelle, you're up first. You have a comment or a question. Hi, Michelle. Go. All right. So the other day when they were playing bingo for the alternative, did anybody see the numbers that were picked? Turtle Boy says no. Someone was playing bingo. I know. I'm picking the numbers for the jurors. I didn't, I didn't see any numbers. No. Yeah, I'm not sure. Yeah, I didn't, I think I saw that on one of the news broadcasts yesterday. I was trying to figure out what it was all about. So, I mean, each of the jurors is assigned a number as it comes in. So say there were 200 jurors that came in for originally for an impanlement. And, you know, during number seven, number 32, number 76, those numbers stay with them throughout the entirety. So that's interesting. Yeah. So when you, you know, you say, during number 76, it's the person who that was the number you got when you came in for jury that day. All right. Thank you for the call, Michelle. Thank you for listening and talk back, Justin. Hey, it's your girl, Sarah from Maine. And I'm actually driving back from Canada right now. And I'm in the car with my dad, Moose from Maine. Yes. His nickname is literally Moose. And the first thing we did this morning, we got in the car was we turned on the iHeartRadio app because I cannot wait to hear from off this take on everything that's been going on with the care retrial. And I can't wait to get caught up. And it's getting us through this drive. Oh, her and her dad. Sarah and Moose in Maine. Oh, you know what they say? A man needs a muse. Now, actually, Sarah from Maine, I conversed with her yesterday. She sent me a DM. I sent one back. Oh my God, you know, I did. Yeah. About that. It's America. But I think, I think for real, like so many people just they've been following this just like us and they wanted the verdict to come. They wanted to be an ending. Good morning. I will have a question for Catherine. I was wondering if she could work some magic and get a message into the jurors today to hurry up and come up with a verdict. And please don't be a hung jury because I'm leaving for vacation early tomorrow morning. I'm going to be going a week. And I don't know if I'm going to be available when they do come to a verdict. And I need to see this thing finished. Everybody feels like that. And I think that's the interesting thing is that we are coming up on the July 4th holiday. So if they were to go through it, we'd probably get through Thursday, they'd probably be off Thursday, Friday, and then and then come back. But also they've had families and operations too. I'm sure that everybody would love to see this. Yeah. Let's go to Kathy next. Kathy Iran. You have a question for Catherine. Hi. Yes. So I'm obsessed. I've been following this. First of all, are you worried about it being so long that they're deliberating? No, I'm not. So I know that everybody feels like it's a long time because we've been following the case for so long because it was a long case. But if you look at, you know, this is a homicide trial. It's not a simple assault and battery. And there's a lot of evidence. There's a lot of things to go through. I'm not surprised that it's taking this long. I do think if, you know, if they kind of come back quickly, it's usually, okay, we know it's not guilty. So that's what leads me to believe that there's probably an impasse about at least some of the charges, probably some of the lesser included son of the manslaughter, if I'm being honest. I think the second degree is off the table. All right, Laurie, you're up next. Good morning, Laurie. You have a question? Oh, good morning. Hi, my question has to do with picking the foreman of the jury. My husband was on a trial and the jurors got to choose the foreman. Why, in this case, did did the the foreman get chosen by the judge, the judge, the judge. So I've never seen the the jury pick the foreman. It's from my experience. It's always either the court decides or they pick randomly from a hat. I've never seen a trial in my experience where they allow the jury themselves to pick the foreperson. Usually, if there's a case of significance like this, the judge will pick the foreperson and they try to pick someone who looks like, you know, they can kind of control the room, maybe a little, you know, maybe that must be a hard choice, though, because you don't really know these people. Or based on the selection process, they make a decision probably, right? Well, you know, the judge is the jury's right in there in front of the judge all day. So she's probably looking and saying this person looks like they've been paying attention to everything. This person looks like they've been taking, you know, notes, things like this. You, you, what the foreperson's job is to really kind of manage the jury to ask any questions if they go back to the judge. So you want somebody who, you know, looks more responsible. Okay, let's go to Steve. You're up next. Steve question. Yes, quick question. If there is a hung jury, did she have to pay the whole amount, all that money over again from scratch? She does. She does. Right. So any, I mean, they're still representing her. It's a whole, it would be a whole separate trial. I mean, she doesn't have to have Alan Jackson and David, you know, netdy, the second run, I don't, and I, that's obviously up to them and what their decisions would be. But it doesn't seem fair. It's not her fault that there's a hung jury. Now she's got to pay down again, double down. Right. But it's also, I mean, the lawyers are doing work. So they have to get paid for them, you know, and they have to get paid for that time. They probably factor all this in because they know that it could go either way. Right. I mean, there's usually, you know, there's a set price for, okay, if we get to this point, you know, if they had gotten a dismiss prior to trial, then there's, you know, an additional fee to get through trial and then any post trial appeals or anything like that. So it's a lot of money. She's, there's a lot of money being spent on this case. Justin, what have you got in there? Good morning. I'd like to know what happens after the verdict is read. When can we really hear Karen's story? If she goes to jail, can we hear it? If she's still, if she isn't convicted, can we hear it? Like when can we hear her talk about what happened? So, I mean, she can talk any time she wants, she went on Nightline last year and she did tell some of her story there. It's really up to her. My advice would always be just don't talk about anything. You know, there's the potential for civil lawsuits after this. So anything she says there could be used against her if there's any proceedings that way, if the O'Keeves are, you know, and I don't know whether that's for certain or not, but especially if it's hung, she's not going to say anything. She's not going to talk. So, you know, my recommendation as an attorney is just always, you have to stay quiet. The couple of times she did talk outside the courthouse, I don't know, it kind of had a weird effect on me. I didn't, yeah, I'm like, I don't think this is a good idea. I think that I do think it's part of their strategy because, you know, I mean, whatever way you want to look at it, P.I. clearly is one of the pieces of this puzzle. And so when she's coming out every day and being asked questions, I definitely think that's, you know, they've talked about that and how to answer, but I think some of the answers, Billy, people are agreeing with you that maybe the response is not so appropriate. Well, you have to be so careful. One single word you say wrong could have an effect on the verdict and on your future. And that's why we say, you know, but also like her facial expressions within the court. Wow. Right. I actually have a question if this becomes a hung during it to do the retrial. Now, at the end of the day, this was to highly publicize before, and they were, they still were able to find people that didn't really know about it. But now, I feel like it's going to be a lot harder to find a impartial jury because we've been watching this for 10 weeks. Right. So there's always the possibility that they could move it out of Norfolk County, or they could bring a jury in from someplace else, you know, that's something that would have to be decided if they do, you know, if there is a mister, lots of ifs, obviously, but it, it, you'd be surprised for as much as, you know, when we're in it. So we're really paying attention to it. But I still talk to a lot of people who kind of know, like, I'm not really following it that closely. You'd be surprised at how many people same with me. A lot of people are just, they're busy. Yeah. Yeah. They don't have the time. They don't. And if you, and it's, these are almost, it's almost one of those cases that if you don't have the time to really devote to it, people are just like, I'm not paying attention all because it's too much. So what you're saying is we have too much time on our hands. Justin, we have time for one more time. Good morning. I have a question for Ms. Loftus. So do you think one of the reasons why the jury might be taking so long to deliberate is kind of public backlash. If they come back with a guilty verdict, there are going to be a lot of people who are very upset. But if they come back with not guilty, then there's the fear of retaliation from the Canton police or the state police, the McCabe's, the Albertsons. Do you think that's a factor in any way? It could be. I would hope not. You know, jurors, obviously, their information, as Steve said yesterday, I think that, you know, you could track them down, things like that. But if they don't want to talk, they don't have to. Obviously, it's hard to avoid what's going on. They obviously see the people when they come inside, the protesters, the supporters. So I think there's a lot riding on it. But ultimately, I think they're really thinking about it because somebody lost their life. Somebody's being charged and has their life on the line. And it's a serious decision. And they're doing their job. So there's a lot of factors that go into it. So they have another full day of deliberations today, right? Which would be day four or five days, day four, day three and a half, day three, yeah, really is a day and a half because we didn't have much on it. It was like three hours. Right. So there may be a verdict today. Maybe not. If not, are you back on Monday? Sure. We hear money because if it's a verdict, we got to talk about it either way. We got to talk about it because it's topic time. All right. I'm Victoria Cash. Thanks for calling the Lucky Land Hotline. If you feel like you do the same thing every day, press one.
