We're back and we've got our guy Steve Cooper from Channel 7 news on the line and he is basically outside of the courthouse at the Karen Read Trial right now. Coop you there? You're not basically, I am outside. And you've been outside. I'm pretty sure with 100% confident outside. Coop, you're not wearing pink, are you? No, I'm not wearing pink. I just want to say this, I think I've said it to you before. I'm a Channel 7 guy. If you go in my office, Channel 7 is on, if I'm home, I'm usually got Channel 7 on. So there, I said it again. Hey, appreciate that. What do I owe you? We'll talk about that after. So, okay, what's going on down there right now? Yeah, so I mean, everybody's kind of mounting up and getting ready for this third day of deliberations. The jury's doing it nine o'clock this morning. They're busting every day from a secret location where they all meet up and they come in and they're security around and they'll head in and begin their third day of deliberations. And then of course, the question is, will we see any more drama in the courtroom? Like we saw yesterday morning when we saw that little stat between the judge and what she had to say to Karen Read of course. Oh, yeah. Now Steve, you're one of the few guys that manages to get a question in with the lawyers or even with Karen Read. Is there entering or coming out of the courtroom? Yeah, I mean, you know, it's funny because, you know, they come in and they go out and each day that the crowd gets bigger and larger and you know, you try to get a question in and sometimes they want to talk to us and sometimes they don't. But you know, you try to muscle in and again, it's just to see how they're feeling about the day, what happened and give us a sense of, you know, how they think this thing is going. Hey, Steve, does Karen Read have security? Oh, yeah, she has a lot of security and growing by the day and I was saying someone's morning yesterday when she was leaving the courthouse probably for the first time, I realized there was an a chain of people around her security. So much of the point where I literally could barely get my microphone in between some of the security people that were around her. And then, of course, I was told that by David Yannetti yesterday, so Steve, she's she's not commenting today. Oh, now Steve, be honest. Okay, you and I are friends. Is there a part of you that once in a while wonders if you're going to end up in the documentary? A part of me? All of me. You know, I was I was in the air and Hernandez one. I've been in one for the Patriots. Well, you know, I mean, what do you think I'm doing? I'm hoping this conversation's on Netflix. There you go. So are we. No, so I think I called you. I love you. Steve, you've got a trademark like when you do snow storms and storm coverage and things like that. You always have props that you use to kind of make fun or have fun. Do you have any props outside the courthouse for the read trial? Yeah, I mean, the only props I had yesterday was holding up those three verdict slips. Oh, yeah, because after they had that, you know, the dust up yesterday in the courtroom, I wanted to see them and I want to show everybody at home physically. I had copies of what they looked like just so people could see them and understand what sort of the debate was about yesterday. And it was sort of a, you know, a word debate, you know, where to put this word and that word and I get all that the jury's out. But the jury doesn't know any of this debate is going on. Of course, they're behind closed doors. Wow. So see, what do you make of all the people that get out there every day early in the morning, dressed in pink? What do you make of these folks? I think that, you know, this is, you know, I've covered a lot of trials over the past 25 years of channel seven and clear and I talked to a lot of prosecutors. I talked to a lot of defense attorneys and clearly this is one of the more high-profile ones. You know, why is that? People will be talking about for a long time, but this is just, you know, when the music stopped, this is the one that everyone was interested in. There's a lot of cases going on right now. There are a lot of other trials in Massachusetts going out right now. But for some reason, this one piqued the interest of everybody and, you know, people that are out there have strong feelings about what they've heard and what they believe in the case and they want to see justice. And, you know, you guys mentioned earlier, you know, you see all the people in pink out there. Where are the people on the other side? Well, they're in other places. They're at home. They're watching it. I don't want to say they're the silent blank, but they're the silent blank. They don't want to be out there holding signs and are interested in wearing pink shirts and umbrellas and all sorts of things. That's not how they want to, you know, show their support for the other side, if you will. What do you know about the school bus for the jury? It's a coach bus. Yeah, it's a bus. Fancy. So do they pick up and drop off at different locations? Yeah. And again, I, you know, and I said to this, you guys before, I don't want to breach anything of security. I think they're trying to keep the jurors safe. I think there's a, you know, talk about security for Karen Reed, I think security for the jurors here because, again, they're in a really difficult position. They're going through, you know, two months of testimony, 70 witnesses, you know, we don't have their names right now. Those won't be made public till after the verdict is given out in return. And I think that's one of the things, and that's why the judge is being super careful right now. You know, there's cameras around, and they just don't want these people to be identified or threatened or anyone have a chance to approach them. So if anything that you take away from today is that is the key that they don't want anything to be disrupted, they just want it to be a clean verdict and let these people come up with their decision and make their decision. So given that that you just said that their names will be made public, can they ask that their name is not made public? No, they can't do that, but the judge can decide at what point they want to give out the list. And we've done this before. And what happens is, whether it was after Hernandez, that trial, whether it was after the Lokes trial in the Michael Chestnut case, they'll give us the list of 12 names. They'll actually give us all the names, including the alternates, just their names. And then we, as reporters, have to try to figure out how how to track them down where they live. And we have ways to do that. And we go knocking on their doors and we show up outside in their driveways and we show up where they work. And some people want to talk to us and some people don't want to talk to us. And some of the houses, we go to so-and-so's house and they say, I'm not the juror. And we say, we think you are and, you know, we'll have a discussion. Wow, wow. You got to be first, you got to get them first. But I bet some of them want to talk, right? Sometimes. Some want to talk. Some want to talk. Some don't want to talk. You know, again, they're not living in a bubble. When they arrive at the courthouse, they see everything that you all see. And, you know, the question is, the only question is, can they put that aside? And just as the judge asked them to do, focus on the evidence, focus on what they heard, focus on what they want to discuss and believe and return a verdict. Well, Steve Cooper, Channel 7 News. Thank you so much for listening to us. And thanks for checking in. Let's hope this makes it to the documentary. Yeah. I'll see you, bud. Yeah, if you, if you're exhausted from the Karen Read trial and everything else, Lisa has a weird story about some peace and serenity that might interest you. We got weird stories coming up. Next is the Billie and Lisa show, right here on Kiss 108. I love Billie and Lisa Kiss 108. Okay. We are all exhausted. We're overwhelmed. It's been such a busy couple of weeks in the Boston area. Well, how would you like to be alone in the middle of the Pacific Ocean? Well, there's a guy who goes by the name sailing a songbird online. He's currently sailing solo across the Pacific and he's documenting it on social. It is month one day 31 of sailing across the Pacific Ocean alone. I lost my sailboat. Just kidding. It's over there. I'm stuck here in the doldrums. There is no wind. So I pumped up my inflatable paddleboard, getting some exercise in. It is incredibly disorienting to be out on a paddleboard with absolutely nothing on the horizon, except like a super cool sunset. I am well over a thousand miles away from any piece of land. And it's so quiet. It's so quiet. Boy, that's such a cool place to be. It's cool, but scary. I've seen a lot of his videos on TikTok and he shows you how he stores the food and water source because he's out there for like months or whatever it's in the being. And this is a first leg. He's going to keep going once he gets to like the Pacific part, then he's going to go back around. I mean, he's doing this for months by himself, like kind of like. And when the wind dies, so does your boat. Yeah, he was just chilling on a paddleboard because he didn't go anywhere. Yeah. Sailing songbird. You can follow him. He's a middle school music teacher, turns sailor from Seattle. That's yeah, currently in the Pacific Ocean. That's awesome. Yeah. He looks like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. He's cute. He's a cute guy. Exactly like him. Uh, I saw this story yesterday, a woman accused of spiking her husband's Mountain Dew with Roundup, which is very, very poisonous. Like the grass. Yes. Yes. We go. It was gradually putting it in his water bottles in the garage. Wow. That's all I could say. I just recently found out that she was working next door to me, but that doesn't make a difference. Is there more to the story? Yes, there is. And all that comes out in court. I just hope things work out the way it's supposed to through the judicial system. I'm talking about Mountain Dew's, baby. Oh, I don't want a psycho. Yeah. But just get divorced. It's not like your spouse. Usually it's antifreeze. But this this one was rounded up. It's usually a money thing. It's usually some kind of, uh, you know, they want to kill them and collect their money. Feels like she's being creative. She's put some antifreeze to Roundup. No, but I heard the reason she's doing it because this is a crazy person. She was upset that he didn't get excited enough about the birthday party she ran for. Oh, so she said, okay, really? All right. How's your round up? Oh, that's her revenge. Really? I thought it was money. The birthday bar. She wouldn't that way in that marriage. You better run a good birthday party, Justin. Well, Jen's birthday. Yeah, she can have horses and mini horses. Speaking of weddings, birthday's weddings marriages, all that a guy named Paul slobbed it. I don't know how to say this. I'm going to try Paul slob. Oh, desertion was working at the door gas driver to make extra money to pay his wedding for his wedding. Yeah. And he left a little like, thank you. No, just saying, Oh, I'm doing this for extra money. If you want to leave an extra tip, you know, that would be greatly appreciated. It's going to help my wife us pay off our wedding. And they had to go fund me. And now their entire wedding is paid off. We didn't really expect anything to come up this. And the fact that a stranger got our note and felt so compelled to post on the internet and to advocate for two strangers is unbelievable. Mikey V is getting married. Is he aware of this? I mean, Mikey, you donate to my charity. I don't think Mikey means that's that's that's doubtful. Yeah. It's a good story, though. At least what have we got? All right. So Swifties are going crazy because there was an actress her name's Tony Hudson. And she did a commercial back in 1981, which was eight years before Swift was even born. But in the commercial, she looks exactly like Taylor Swift. Yeah, let's go to Inside Edition. Deborah Norville on this. It's not Taylor Swift. It's me, Tony Hudson, right here in the flesh. I did that commercial. The commercial was her big break at age 19. Can you believe that people think your Taylor Swift? Yes. Actually, I can't. It's exciting. But it's still fun to think about Taylor Swift time traveling. It's freakish. She really looks. I have to look it up. She looks exactly like her. Yeah. You have the picture of their show when he says. I'm looking at it. I can see. I looked it up. Yeah, she's beautiful. Yeah. That's a lot of hair, too. So now she's like 60. She is. Wow. The oldest wine ever discovered in liquid form was found in untouched Roman tomb. That's cool. Like their wine, even back then. Yeah, they took it with them. Yeah. This is it. The oldest wine ever. Yeah, it was mixed with some human ashes. Okay. Yeah, they used to take everything with them. But yeah. Scientists say this 2000 year old Vino was found in a glass funeral urn and was discovered in a sealed tomb in Spain. Analysis found a man's ashes were mixed in with the white wine, burying people with items that might help them in the afterlife was common in the Roman empire. Billy's going to take all the water he stole with him to be afterlife. Well, good thing it was white wine and not red wine, right, Billy? Um, well, I'm not big on red wine. I mean, that's like the red wine. We don't really bring it up. Leave the red wine home. Yeah. You're destructive. That red wine that their hold is going to end up on your couch. Yeah. Only red wine drinkers spill wine. Their precious bottle of red wine. Yeah. They're long gone. When all of a sudden you're looking for magical solutions. So true. Keep it in your glass. Okay, hon. It's so true. Hi, Mr. Red wine. It's always a special bottle of red. Oh, I brought it. Just take it home with you. Okay. And leave me alone. Oh, God. All right. What do you got coming up here? Uh, a lot going, a lot going on in entertainment. While we had our own when he was at the Chris Brown show last night, producer Riley, uh, was at the Zach Brian show on a Gillette last night. So we'll get full reports and we've got the very latest on Justin Timberlake too. It's all coming up next. It's really fun. And we're back with Billy and Lisa in the morning. I'm not really a morning person, but if I go to wake up early, might as well get a good laugh on Kiss 108. Hey guys, we're back. Justin, we have time for one talk back. Yeah, we had our weird story segment. You know, we do that every morning. 8, 8, 15, we ran out of time though, and I had a bonus one. What up morning crew? This is Noah, the caddy. I got a things that make you go. PSA. I was leaving yesterday for the day and went out to my car and some local, uh, hoodlums put a condom on my car muffler. So apparently we got to start checking for that every day. Oh, that could be dangerous. That about. That's weird. That's something I didn't think of when I was troubled youth and someone's walking around with an extra large condom. Right. Yeah. I know why it's not you, Bill. Now the entertainment update with the Billy Colton. How do you know that? She doesn't know that. Right. We don't know what's going on down there. All right. Chris Brown had his show in the T.D. Garden last night. And Justin, I know your wife Jen was there, right? She was there posting away videos, uh, thirsting over him on the stage. Oh, she thirsts over him too? Yeah. Her two faves are post Malone and Chris Brown. She put up one poll on her IG story that said, uh, do I choose C breezy or just a busy? Oh, I wonder where the voting landed on that. Well, hopefully he swung by with his package. Uh, Winnie, you were there. How'd it go? Oh my God. It was such a good show. It was packed. He's such a performer. He had like 18 dancers. I mean, he was up in the air. He had a stage at like, you know, at the back of the loge. I mean, it was just like, his, his mic was on. He sounds so Chris and so good live. It was two hours of full nonstop fun and he was phenomenal. Wow. Yeah. Great show. So tomorrow night is Janet Jackson and you, at least you're going with your friends. All right. This is next level. Like, come on. It's Janet Jackson. She's an icon. She has so many number one hits. Nelly's opening for her. I'm going with two of my girlfriends. And I, this has been a bucket list thing for me ever since she said she was going back on tour. So I can't wait. What you're saying is, yeah, let's go. Oh, yeah. That's going to be fun. He will be. Boy, I wonder if they'll play that at the Donna Summer disco ball tonight at City Hall Plaza. I can't believe the mayor of the south end isn't going to the disco ball tonight. He checked in this morning. You never mentioned it. That's actually it is shocking. He's usually on top of all those things. So Justin Timberlake brings us two shows into the TD Garden this weekend, Saturday and Sunday nights. And pretty much all of us are going, Lisa, you and I are going with our spouses. Winnie, you're going to be there, is right? Yeah, my girlfriend. Oh, oh, yeah. Oh, you bring it. It is. You know what it is. It's sleazy. It's sleazy. That's the good thing. I do appreciate that about getting a girl now. Every day is ladies nights. Yeah, there we go, baby. There we go. Let's go girls. I don't know what to say. Meantime, our country singer. Oh, we had a double play winner earlier, right? We did. I didn't dream that. No, we did. And there will be another shot later today, Justin. Are we allowed to talk about that? It'll be between three and four o'clock with the B bros in Gianna. Wow. Our country singer, Zach Brian, did his show at Gillette Stadium last night. We did was a rain delay. But our producer, producer Riley with a couple of wives was there. Yes, I was. Great show. It was great. I've never seen a lot of country acts. So he was really good. I had a great time. I was dancing away. My feet hurt and my boots, but it was fine. Yeah, got a little rain rain. Oh, yeah, dumped on, but it was fine. You wore your cowgirl boots. Hell yeah. What did he finish with, Riley? What song? Revival. We're having an Oh, yeah. All night, baby. And that song did take all night. He thanked everybody in the band. It was like 20 people and that song lasted forever. Wow. And it was a long night because it was a date night last night, right? Well, there we go, baby. Oh, yeah. She's booed up, Bill. Yeah, she was all booed up. We don't have to answer this producer, Riley, but could there have been a smooch in the rain at the show? Oh, okay. That'd be a moment. You just said she didn't have to answer it. No, no, yes. Well, yeah, she could say no. I was singing. I was too busy singing and dancing. Yeah, but wait a minute. Behind the scenes, didn't you prep for it because you didn't think you knew enough about Zach Brian? So you listened for two weeks. Yeah, I wasn't a fan of him at all. I spent two full weeks only listening to Zach Brian's eyes. I looked up the set list. Oh, my God, you're so cute. I wasn't your guy that loved him. Yeah, yeah. It was his birthday gift. Oh, I love you. You're so cute. I love you. That's good. It was his birthday gift from you. No, those tickets are very special. I love that he wanted to bring you. Yeah, he brought her he got to get from somebody else. He means mom or something. Yeah. And then he wanted to bring Riley. You know what? This thing is zapping it. Yeah. Riley's like, I that's a lot of money. I'm not talking about that much. But Zach Brian loves this area. He just bought a seven million dollar house in Duxbury. That's a beautiful town. Duxbury, right? That gets you a lot of house. It's good. Yeah. Post Malone is teasing another song and this one is with Chris Tapleton. We got a clip. It's going to be a good album. It's all coming. He's committing. Yeah. But Jen would like to see Posty and some cowboy boots on Justin. She is going. That's confirmed. Yeah, she will be in the pit lined up probably at 9 a.m. to get front row in the pit. No less in the pit. Yeah. Wow. It's right before your birthday too. Oh, she doesn't care. Okay. She's going to be in the pit getting her butt grabbed most likely. Oh, okay. But to dream, you know, I love her. She can have what she wants. Her dream is to get get her butt grab. Well, you know, who's this before? I've been in pit. Yeah. There's some grabbing going. Oh, yeah. That's why you go there. You go for the grab. I don't want to sign that, but it does have a shibuzzi teaming up with David Getter for a remix of a bar song. Squiggly lights come down from the ceiling and he starts shooting the confetti in the fog guns and everything. What am I talking about? I don't know here. It's your wild imagination. Little Nas X says he's going to drop the best song of all time tomorrow. It's called Here We Go. It's actually part of the soundtrack for the movie. The new Beverly Hills cop movie. I think that's going to be a hit song. Yeah, it's going to be a hit. Sounds like every other Lil Nas X. Yeah, but every song he makes is a hit. Don't forget Lil Nas X featured on the new Camila Cabello album that comes out tomorrow. I'm guessing that'll be part of new music Friday tomorrow, Justin. Possibly. I have to check with the writing cable. It's not like the one that we heard right that you sampled a few weeks ago, but she was like, no, we didn't really, we didn't like that. It wasn't grabbing us. Yeah, the first Camila didn't really do that well. Okay, yeah. It's a different one. She's moving on. Yeah, okay. That was a little to go away putting it. Sadly, maybe it'll be like J. Lowe's clearance sale at Target. Anyway, Camila talks about the new album. In this album, I really tried to be more actually of a student of music because I feel like I'm always a fan of music. I'm always listening to music for pleasure and for fun, but for this album, I was listening to music as a student and going back to classic albums that I didn't grow up on because I come from a Latin household and we listen to a lot of Latin albums and like Michael Jackson and the popular 80s hits and that's it. I listened to rap that I grew up with in Miami and what was popular at the time, but I didn't listen to Illmatic, Dr. Dre and a lot of the classic hip-hop albums from before. I didn't listen to Pink Floyd. I didn't listen to The Beatles. I think it's important to like always be studying what genres kind of influenced the genres that are informing the genres now. Yeah, it's because she mentioned Illmatic. That's the soundtrack to my life. It's all I can say. One of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. Illmatic, man. Can you name a song off that album, Bill? Sure. Okay. Can you name one Nas song? Who was Nas married to? Can you do that? Nazi. No. You know, the milkshake brings all the boys to the yard. Oh, yeah. You know that one. I do. I'm bringing the boys to the yard. Yeah. He was married to the police. Yeah. My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard. I remember it very well. The yard? The yard or that? Hey, there's a Nickelback documentary dropping on Netflix that actually dropped yesterday and it deals with their success as a band, also their anti- Nickelback movement. Here's a clip. In the 2000s, there wasn't a band on the planet that got more radio air played than Nickelback. How you remind me has been considered one of America's most played songs ever. All of that exposure triggered a reaction. Why does everybody hate Nickelback? Nickelback, Nickelback, Nickelback, Nickelback, Nickel, nobody picks up a guitar to be in the most hated band in the world. They were part of cancel culture before we had a name for it. It's kind of like a long running meme. They became the most hated band in music. We tried to laugh it off. You could even laugh off about 90% of it and some of it, it hurts. A lot of big songs, Nickelback. Well, that's true though. They were like huge and they have good songs. I just think there was like a weird carnitization around them and then people just ran with it. You know what I mean? Yeah. And there really was no real merit behind it. It became like a thing not to like them. Yeah. I just think they hated them because they weren't them. That's right, Bill. What do you want to say? They hate us because they ain't us. You know it, baby. Hey, we predicted this would happen and it is Hollywood talent agencies are interested in the Hochtua girl. No joke. Hey, the cash me outside girl did it. Why not the Hochtua, right? In bad baby, the catch me outside girl has done very well for herself. And she's barely legal. Yeah. She's a multi-millionaire. New mommy. I'm going to have a whole show based around girl. Probably a reality show. Yeah. You know, she and her friends from Tennessee. Is that where she's from? Yeah. Tennessee. Yeah. Yeah. Finally, Bill. Yeah. Bill Gates daughter Phoebe is dating Paul McCartney's grandson. I saw that. Yeah. Is it Stella McCartney's son? The last name is Donald. That's as deep as I go on this. No, she's actually really, she's actually really pretty. She's graduating from Stanford. I think I saw this thing there saying she became a doctor and they're like, that's a real overachiever. Like you have all this money in the like the world and you still want to be a doctor. Hey, we're brought to you by Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club. You can experience the quintessential Cape Cod summer at Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club named Best Hotel Cape Cod by Boston Magazine. They've got spacious fill as luxurious hotel rooms. They've got a private beach, a really nice one too, swimming pools, multiple pools, award-winning golf pickleball four, count them four restaurants, live music, spa days and an unbelievable beach bar. Disco Smash at the City Hall Plaza and they won't be playing late each night, but they do play the extended version of McArthur Park, the 15 minute version. Wow. So have a great day and see you at City Hall Plaza. From the Planet Fitness Kids 108 Studios, we're back with Billy and Lisa in the morning on Kiss 108. Hey guys, welcome back. So the Karen Reed trial has suddenly sparked another little topic for us. We're wondering about the jury members in a court trial and jurors, they get paid versus the jurors that don't get paid. And if so, what do they get paid and have you been a juror and have you been paid? I guess there are several angles on this topic. By the way, 6179311108. If you want to give us a call or send us a talk back because this trial has lasted two months. So that's a lot of money lost if you depend on your income to pay your bills. But what is the financial hardship thing? Like if you go in, you know, you're called in for a jury and then they interview you and they say, well, you've like, isn't it basically? I think Katherine Loftus said it once that if you have a job that's not going to pay you, that's hardship. They know it's going to, they have an estimation about how long every trial is going to take them. If they know what's going to take, they said this was going to be four to six weeks. It went way longer, but they're going to say, can you go without pay from your job for four to six weeks? And if you say no, then they can't make you be in the jury. And we were talking about this off-air. It actually makes it harder to find a more well-rounded jury pool because you people that have low income or people have different entities that don't have as much of a leg up in life and they can't afford to take off this time. And they, and it's not represented. So it sways the shape of the jury. Yeah, in some ways. But my question, I guess, was, are there some companies that decide that they will pay their employees while they're doing their public service duty? Regardless of how long it goes. Regardless of the fact that they don't have to. Right. Because these jurors have been added for two and a half months. Correct. Okay. They haven't been able to go to work. So I have to guess that most of them don't work or they retire. Yeah, probably. I mean, especially that pocket, you know, denim, needle, whatever, nor what all that. You're probably looking at older white people, like to be fair in that, in that, in that area. So I'm looking at the law right now for Massachusetts. So it says they are required to pay the first three days of juriservice. But what do they pay? Like a stipend? Regular weeks. That's not pay. No, but I'm saying a trial like this has lasted weeks and weeks and weeks. They're not getting paid. Right. No, I know. But I'm just saying, have there been people out there that have served on a jury for longer than a couple of days that have their businesses actually paid them? Have you, have any of you ever been on a jury or? No, I've been called. But then, yeah, the case has been met. And April, right before this, I was called to the same courthouse. And then they said, like the night before, oh, you don't have to come. How about if you're chosen for a grand jury? That goes on for a month. Did you say grand jury? Yes, I did. Let's go to Sarah. Okay, Sarah, good morning. How'd a good morning? Well, you want a grand jury? I was on a grand jury. So it sounds maybe more. I don't know. It's a big deal. But it's kind of behind the scenes. But you do have to sign up for three months. And what do you do about your job? You, yeah, you don't get paid. But there is some sort of law that you're supposed to not be let go of your job if you're on a grand jury. And I did get paid on the grand jury. So at the time I was in grad school and I was just working part time at the gap. And I actually got paid more for being on the grand jury than at the gap. No, you're saying? What were you getting paid in? I don't remember what it was. I mean, they covered parking. I had to go into Worcester. So they covered parking. And then there was some some money I got every day. I want to say like, I don't know, 50. Yeah, it's around 50 bucks. Yeah, but then on top of the $50 a day, you actually got paid again. No, that was it. Like that was it. But she was working part time. Yeah. So you're getting like $200 a week, basically. Yeah, something like that. But you know, I have to say, it was an amazing experience. I learned so much. They teach you everything you need to know to make these decisions. And you decide as the grand jury, if there's enough evidence for a case to go to court. So it's kind of engineering. Yeah, the grand jury is really interesting. I wonder, are they taxed on that $50 a day? And you go from case to case to case to case. Yeah. Let's go to Kelly next. Kelly, what's your story? This is Kelly. I work in HR. So I'm pretty familiar with the jury doodying laws and regulations. So basically for the first three days, if you're employed, you have to receive your full salary. And then from there, the courts will pay you $50 a day. So you're screwed. If you're in a lengthy trial, have you heard of companies? Have you heard of companies where people will pay? Yep. So it's all employers can decide to pay their employees for the full time if they want to, but they're not required to. So employee, so what I see with my client, it's like they'll pay for five days. And that's about it. Yeah, it seems like if it's a long court trial, then you could lose your job. They can't. They cannot. Oh, they can't fire you, but you're losing a lot of pay. Right. Exactly. You could use like PTO, but otherwise, I mean, these poor people on the jury, right? They've been out there for eight weeks without pay. Wow. Wow. All right. Well, thank you for the call. This is a hot topic. Yeah. But again, like when he said a couple of minutes ago, it can sway the jury. You get a more well-balanced jury if. If you think about it, it's yeah. I mean, excuse towards someone who can afford it, which is like, especially in certain areas is more one demographic. So it really is not your peers. It's not everyone that represents that. Correct. Down your inner, that counting you're in. It's who can afford to take the time off or not work. My dad was on a jury. He was telling me this past weekend, we were talking about the care and retrial, and he was kind of like giving us and giving me an inside look at what it was like. Yeah. So it was very tense. It was very tense because, you know, most believed guilty. Yeah. And then there were a few that were not guilty, and he was one of the few. And then the ones that thought that the person was guilty were getting mad. See, they can't get mad. Right. And it's your opinion if you don't take their guilty. Yeah. You know what they were? They were tired, like I'm bad. I was tired, and I needed to think about it. Well, okay. Yeah. Anyway. Hi. Good morning. I am calling in to let you guys know that I served on three week murder one trial at Suffolk Superior Court when I was right out of college. I'm a teacher, but I was working at a summer camp. Child was in the summer. The state paid us $50 a day for every day after three days. And my job at the summer camp in Chesapeake Hills still paid me. Oh, oh, good for you. That's good. The summer camp in Chesapeake Hills. Actually, you know, I think they stepped up. That's right. I think there should be a new law that says the company's out. I honestly, if it's a big, I can see a small business I can't afford to. But if you're looking at a big corporate company, a 500 fortune company, again, this is your civic duty. You're doing this because you're you're a taxpayer and you live in this country. So I don't understand why this can't happen. But you're doing it at your civic duty. But you're also being taxed in terms of your income. Right. It's not your choice. You're told. You have to go. They some of you get arrested. If you find out, I know. Yeah. Well, I heart's lucky because I never get called for jury duty. You probably never will. No, no, I think that's why we hired you. That's what you got. You got me on I'm pretty least. Anyway, the Billy and Lisa wrap up is coming up next. If you missed it, we have Steve Cooper on live from outside the courthouse. The Karen Reed trial. The wrap up is coming up next. Kids 108. It's the morning wrap up on Billy and Lisa in the morning. Yeah, we'll get to all the Karen Reed stuff from this morning in a minute. But first, the Justin Timberlake double play is winding down. Today is the last day to score tickets plus qualify for that grand prize, which we will pay off tomorrow morning at 8 10. But we got a winner this morning. Congratulations to Reese. Are you there, Reese? Hello, Reese. Oh, thank you so much. I'm so excited. You know, Reese, you don't sound that excited. I got to be honest with you. Just go in the morning, right? No, I am. Yeah, I'm just coming off of an overnight shift. I've been calling every morning. You know what, Reese is tired. I was tired and I needed to think about it. Yeah, she was. She was tired. Like, like, Karen Reed trial. Night shift is a nurse. That's good. That's yeah. And shout out to all the nurses. We love all of them. But yeah, the last shot at the Justin Timberlake double play is this afternoon between three and four with the V bros. And then like I said, tomorrow morning at 8 10. We'll pay it all off. Justin Timberlake hits the garden for two shows this weekend. Let's get to the Karen Reed coverage. I mean, we were all over this thing, explosive day in court. There was a back and forth with Alan Jackson and on bed. Of course, like you just heard she was tired. I was tired and I needed to think about it. And she was snapping at Karen Reed. Excuse me. This is funny, Miss Reed. Oh boy. Yeah, there was a lot to a lot to unpack there. We took people's questions and comments via phones and talkbacks. But we also heard from Steve Cooper, who was live outside the courthouse, kind of give us the behind the scenes of what what's going on down there. So I mean, everybody's, you know, kind of mounting up and getting ready for this third day of deliberations. The jury's doing it nine o'clock this morning. You know, they're busted in every day from a secret location where they all meet up and they come in and, you know, their security around them, they'll head in and begin their third day of deliberations. Yeah, he's on the front lines. He's down there. He actually is a had a microphone to Alan Jackson. Yeah, and got a comment from him as he was walking in this morning. And a funny moment, Billy asked, Hey, Cooper, is there any part of you that is hoping you'll be in the soon-to-come Netflix documentary? Part of me, all of me. That's a goal. Now, you know, I was, I was in the Aaron Hernandez one. I've been in one for the Patriots one. I'm hoping this conversation's on Netflix. A little behind the scenes too is, you know, we watch Coop on TV. We always covering it, but we've we've left him alone because he's, you know, he seems busy, right? At least. During our topic time, he was calling us. He was listening to topic time and he wanted to chime in. Yeah. And I was listening from outside to course. Yeah, I go, well, Coop, we'll give you your own slot. Yeah. You know what I mean? Just hold off 10 minutes. We'll put you on. He had some great information. Oh, yeah, he's great. He's a good reporter. Yeah, really, really great. And a couple of minutes ago, we were talking about the jury and you know, do they get paid? Do they not get paid? A lot of people hitting us up that we're on juries that are saying that they got paid. I was paid by my company. You should be paid by your company. You're doing your civic duty. You can only dodge that civic duty for so long until your number comes up again. And you shouldn't be penalized financially for that. I totally agree. Yeah, I agree. Yeah, I gotta change it. Maybe this is going to be our thing. We're going to fight this. We fight. We are going to Congress. We're bringing this way to the top. Yeah. Me pink shirts. Yeah. You know what we're doing? We're going to march. It's kiss 108 and we're back with Billy and Lisa in the morning. Hey guys, welcome back. So something strange is going on behind the scenes on the the Billy and Lisa morning show. Justin has this weird obsession with my trip to Africa in October. He keeps calling me in and I think he wants to talk about something legitimately about this show. And he wants to show me more videos of people being mutilated and dragged and mauled. No, he's he's he's he's hyping it up. It's not. I'm fascinated because Michelle, your beautiful wife, who's a dear friend of all of ours. Yeah. She thinks she's and arrow. Oh, she really does. No, she really does. And it's really it's really cute. And you know what Billy was showing me some videos of like the Gorilla's Nest. It's this resort in Africa. No, listen to this, Lisa, you go there. It's a it's a resort. And then you go out with a gorilla expert into the wild. Yeah. They're not in cages. They're in the way she's going. Right? Oh, yeah. Next year, she's doing her own trip to the gorillas. You will not be with her for that truck. You need to know something about her love of gorillas. If I were mauled on the expedition, she would walk over my mauled and mutilated body to get to the gorillas. Well, she's like a gorilla whisper. She's like Jane Austen. Exactly. Well, not Jane Austen. That's a writer. Oh, Jane Goodall. Yeah. I can't, Jane. Right, Jane. Yeah. And Justin, I've forgotten the name of the actress again, who is in the King Kong movie. There are several of them. Naomi Watts. Yes. One. Oh, yes. It wasn't what was what does they say? It wasn't. It wasn't something that killed the beast. It was beauty killed the beast. That's going to be a nail. Naomi Watts. There's been several actresses that have played Jessica Lange, Jessica Lange, and yeah, Michelle Costa. The beauty who charmed the beast and starring the eighth wonder of the world, King Kong. Yeah. She's going to be the beauty that tames the beast. Can I just say one thing? Yeah. About his beautiful wife, Michelle. Billy's upset because Michelle wants Billy to wear cargo pants. Yes. Okay. Wait, wait, that again, that is your issue. You've been fighting. That's what he's concerned about. I'm going to get small to death. I won't be able to come back here in one piece. I'll be here in ashes. And your main concern is you get to wear cargo pants. Okay. Do you have any need to start that? You need to answer it. I really don't want to go. But yeah, every day I get home, right? She's got catalogs open up safari wear. Yeah. Really? Like I'm like, I'm not dressing up for safari. You have to just commit to this. You already spending a ton of money on the flight in the party. No, so the gorilla expert that brings you into the jungle to be the wild gorillas in their family. His name is Francois. He's wearing cargo pants. Of course he is, but I'm not. All right. Let's see. She says, oh, you need special boots and the hat. Like, what are you going to wear golf pants? No, I'm just going to wear whatever I wear. Guffos and safari. Oh, does Zufos have hiking boots? Or is there a hookah or whatever? Yeah. Let me tell you, dude, if you go to the safari with an outfit from Allen Ghibli, they're going to eat you. You got to go full. I don't think they want you to wear bright colors. You're going to be a target. Anyway, let's go to the people. Good morning, Billy, Elisa, Winnie, and Justin. I was just overhearing that Billy is going on safari in Africa. And I'm also going on safari in Africa. And people also send me a boatload of videos of people getting killed or like trampled by elephants or whatever. But I want to know if they really had any tips or any advice on what to travel with. I don't know anything about it. Cargo pants. Yesterday, friends were asking me where I'm going in Africa. I couldn't tell them. Oh, my God. He's going to be like, you know, those dads that go to like Dix or like, you know, one of those, you know, what's the other, like the Bass Pro shop. And they have those ugly, like shoes on. Like the fly fishermen. Yeah. Oh, my God. He's going to stick out like a sore thing. Oh, my God. I would die to see that. So let me ask you this, Billy, is there any like part of you that's jealous at all at her, her love for the girl? Oh, um, seems to be real. I got to tell you it's bizarre. Connected. She is to gorillas. It's bizarre. And it makes me feel so inadequate. Right. Well, you know what? I mean, because if she's eyeballing gorillas, which she had with me, I know, you know, you need to do you need to switch your whole game plan. No, Billy, you need to switch the whole game plan up. You need to come at a different angle. You need to be more aggressive like this. I think you should go home and watch Tarzan. And that will give you some inspiration. And she can be Jane. And you can meet Tarzan. Oh, that's very playful. Yeah. I'll let my car go out for nice. Like you meet Tarzan, you. Yeah, honey. Let's go, baby. It's Safari time. Coffee time. And we're back with the Billy and Lisa in the morning. You know, we haven't talked about that storm last night for a while. We talked about it earlier this morning, but you see some of the footage this morning and some of the towns like Adelborough and Sea Kong. They got a lot, a lot of damage. A lot of trees down. When I was driving home last night, like 11 30 from the concert, it was lightning strike after all. It was lit up from not, you know, from I was at the garden all the way to Randolph, light, light, lightning, the torrential range. It was a dangerous storm. A lot of trees down, a lot of power outages. We had a countdown tour coming in today, Justin, and they had to cancel because they lost power last night. Yeah, the storms hit up in Salem, New Hampshire last week. We lost power in my house. Scary. Summer storms scary. Karen read trial. What's it the third day of jury deliberations today? Second full day. Yeah. So we may see a verdict of maybe not. Either way, we'll be back on the Karen read the case tomorrow morning. The producer and me wanted to just end today, so tomorrow we can wrap it up on a Friday and then come in Monday with a fresh new topic. There you go. Just put a big bow on it. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? My name is cave. There he is. Already God. Hey, tomorrow, we're going to pay it off, right? The Justin Timberlake double play and then tomorrow night Janet Jack into the garden, Saturday, Sunday night, Justin Timberlake. We're all going to a certain concert, so we'll be talking about that.
