(upbeat music) - Are you ready? Now, this is Billy and Lisa in the morning. - The Monday show. (upbeat music) - Come on, people! - Rico! - Let's do this. - A kiss 108. - Wow, welcome in everybody and a good morning to you from the entire Billy and Lisa morning show. We are all here and present and ready to go. And Lisa, I couldn't help but noticing when I left the house this morning. It's very sticky out. - It is, very humid. - Oh my goodness. - Heavy air, yep. - And I guess the air, as the day goes, the air will come in drier air. - It will, but it'll be in the low 80s today. You could see a pop-up shower, especially up north later. - But it should be a decent enough day. - Yeah, partly cloudy. We start on a lot of clouds right now, but partly cloudy. - We had tornado warnings last night. - I know. It's ominous. - Yeah, they're nowhere. - Well, it came on the TV's, you know, the TV's. - Yeah. - You know, up where I live in Salem, New Hampshire, said they were over Manchester and went ahead to East. And, you know, we had 18, in the 18 minutes until he was gonna hit us. They never did. - Yeah, I was thinking about you and thinking about producer Riley because you're both in Salem, New Hampshire, and they kept saying, "Manchester." And Manchester's pretty close to Salem. It's not that far. - It's very close. - Yeah. - Yeah, so there I was trying to collect my son, who's seven off the street. And he didn't want, he was like, "I don't care. "I'm just gonna stay out here." I'm like, "You're gonna care "when you're flying up in the trees." - Right, or a tree branch comes down. - Yeah, God forbid. - Right. - You don't want to mess with a tornado. - Nope. - There's a lot of debris involved, flying branches and doors and stuff. - Taddio chairs. - Yeah, and it'll send you flying. - Absolutely. It's a twister. - It's a twister. It's a twister. - Yeah, so we kicked off for a weekend. We all went to the hoodie and the blowfish show out at Fenway Park Friday night. Winnie, I never saw you Friday night. - That was by design, I didn't really. - You were ignoring us? - I was ignoring you, Bill. - What did I do? - No, nothing, I'm kidding. We were up in the pavilion. You guys were down on the, you know, - The tutorial, yeah. - And it was pouring rain out. So we were stuck up there underneath some shelter and you guys, I know we're hanging out at Fenway Johnny's. - Yeah. - But yeah, no, it was a great time. I've never seen him a hoodie or Darius who ever arrived and they were great. They were incredible. But you're a naked ladies, it's funny 'cause they're like a novelty band, but they're very talented, so. - This is all department, baby. - Yeah, so no, it was great. It's so funny, I was getting tired, right? 'Cause we get up to early. I'm like, so like by like the third or fourth song before we're like, you know, ready to leave, I'm like, oh, do you wanna like leave early on my mom? She's 64. She's like, no. So I'm like, oh, okay. I was like, all right. So she's like, it's past your bedtime, not mine. I was like, okay. - Oh, I'm glad she had a good time. - So we stayed and yeah, it was a great time. It was a nice little triple date, so it was good. Well, we hung out at Fenway, Johnny's because we could look out onto the street and we could see the rain and then we were thinking, oh, maybe this won't happen at all. And then at one point, we said, okay, Hootie's supposed to take the stage, so let's head over. We got to our seats and 10 seconds later, the curtain opened on Hootie and the beloved. - We timed it perfectly. - Great. - Yeah, it was awesome. He sounded as good as I thought. You know what I mean? - Yeah. - He's never sounded better. - Yeah, the band was good. It was just a good show. It was the first time in a long time, I stayed till the end of an event and boy was I sorry. We didn't move in the parking lot for over an hour. - That's why you always leave. - I left a little early and I'm glad that I did, just because getting a car in an Uber was so difficult. - Well, we parked because my brother used to work for the team store, so one of his best friends still managed it. So we got very able to park kind of behind the team store and we were stuck, but we sent my brother out with a balloon, like it looks like a yellow stick. It was just balloon, I mean bubbles, and he looked like a traffic cop and we got out. - It was perfect. - Wow, that's amazing. - You gotta fake the traffic cop. People will stop, people are gullible, they just stop for sure. - Well, he sort of arrested for that, too, impersonating an officer. - I actually would have loved that. That would mean my night. - Yeah, that's definitely a charge. - So Justin Timberlake comes to town this weekend and I still don't know, are we going? - No. - Oh, okay. - We are not going to that show. - Why not? - No, there are no tickets to be had. - Yeah. - Okay, we asked a year ago. - Someone from the book club DM me yesterday saying she has a pair of tickets on the floor if anyone wants them. - Yes, I will caution you. She DM me too, they're expensive. - Okay. - They're very expensive. - Wait a minute, we asked a year ago for Timberlake. - I don't think you ever asked that. - Oh, I certainly did. - Okay. - 'Cause I never miss him when he's in town. - Yeah, they're okay. I'm being told there are no tickets for Justin. And yeah, I mean, we're giving away tickets. - We're giving away a lot. That's what happened some time, so. - I'm boycotting Timberlake now. What a year in advance we asked. - Well, it's not what our listeners, you know. - No, it's really about us. - Okay. (laughing) - In this case, because I've never missed Justin Timberlake. Okay, so now I have free weekend. Think of it that way. - Well, I'm going to see Janet Jackson. - That's fun. - Yeah, that'd be fun. - That's like a bucket list for me. - Yeah. - Okay. - Never seen her in my entire life. And this is probably going to be it. - My mother-in-law's going to do. - You know what? I want to know where Nani's going to be. - It might be in the same room. - Oh, I love this. - Wow. - Oh, this is going to be great. - Oh, you're putting on a good show. - Yeah. - Are you going to Timberlake, be honest, Winnie? - I am, go ahead. - I knew it. - That's why we don't have tickets. - That's why we don't have tickets. - I'm doing social. I just have a fair ticket and I'm doing social media. That's why I'm going. When I got them, they said, "You have to do social media," and I said, "Okay." So Bill, do you want to take my ticket and do social media? - No, thanks. - Oh, okay. - No, thanks. I'm done with the front office. - Oh my God. The front office. - Pretend I don't exist. - Okay. There's like two people. - Don't say hello to me in the hall. - Okay. - Well, the good news for our listeners is the double place. - Oh, right. Yeah. That's good news. - That's good news. - Billy can be sad, but you could be happy if you win. - Yeah. Okay. Hey, how was Gemma's birthday party? - It was wonderful for two hours, and then the rain came. It poured, but we got two hours in. We got to do the cake and all the presents and all that fun stuff. - And I've got a piece of advice for anybody who has not seen the J-Lo documentary. Don't see it, and I'm not even kidding. This is a bonafide crazy person. - Why did you guys watch the second one after the first one was so bad? - Wasn't me. My wife, Michelle, you know her. She's not even on social media. She doesn't care about any celebrities, right? All of a sudden, because we watch the stupid music movie, whatever that's called. She's obsessed with J-Lo because she thinks she's so crazy. She wants to see how crazy she can be. - She's right. - So she had me watching the documentary yesterday. - That's your question? - Go ahead. - What was worse, the other one of this one? - Here's the thing, I couldn't understand either one, but the irony of watching the documentary, the greatest love story, never told, you're watching this giant production that she spent $20 million on to express their incredible love for each other and they broke up a week after it came out. - Yeah, it's so fake. - It's like unbelievable to me. - Yeah, and didn't they break up, they're speculating because of these documentaries? - Yeah, because of these crazy projects she keeps getting involved with. She took $20 million because everybody who was gonna back the movie pulled out. And she said, "I'll pay for it, okay." Ben's like, "Really?" 20, it probably ended up being more, 30 million. - Probably. - But anyway, there's that. Entertainment's coming up. Taylor packed three shows at the world's largest stadium, Wembley Stadium in London. And what a lineup of celebrities, I mean, just crazy. Anyway, we'll talk about Taylor and everything else. That's up next. - We're back with Villy and Lisa in the morning on Kiss 108. - Yeah, we're back. Happy Monday, everybody. We've got entertainment, we're ready to go. But Justin, you wanna squeeze in at least one talkback? - Yeah, hop on the iHeart app, tap that red microphone and join the show. And, you know, we have our regular talkback members, especially this one right here. The mayor of the South End, he calls himself. - Good morning, it's the mayor of the South End with a special bulletin. Jaylen Brown has lost a personal ring at the South X Parade on Friday. And it's a personal ring and he will offer a substantial reward for anyone that returns it. So that's a special bulletin from the mayor of the South End. And it'll be a big reward because he just signed a contract worth 300 million. Have a great day. - Yeah, if you go to our Kiss Instagram, I posted the picture of it. It's just a juice ring. It's like diamonds and juice is like his nickname. - And yeah, it's going on. - And that says clothing line, yeah. - Yeah. - So yeah, he wants it back and he's gonna reward you. But I feel like he's not enough for us, but I don't need to give it back. - You might as well return it because even if you try to sell it at such a recognizable-- - Oh, yes. - I mean, it says it says juice right on it. - Yeah, something else happened during the parade. You know, the fire station, the famous fire station, right there on Boyleson Street, at the mouth of Boyleson Street. You know, the firefighters had their cars parked there. And I guess, you know, people at the rally destroyed their car. - Oh, that's terrible. - It was horrible. - Yeah, there was several fights. I mean, it was great for overall, it was amazing, but there were several fights. There was kids jumping off water fountains. - Oh, did you see that? Was he hurt? I never found out. - They hadn't done his head it looked like. - Yeah. - Into a pond of water that might have been three inches deep. He did a belly flop. - Oh, okay, pal. - And that's-- - The water's disgusting. - No, it's got to hurt. - Okay, pal. - Whoa. - Yeah, Sam Hauser puking on the duck boats. - I know, that was hilarious. - Did we still have him? - Just puking in the middle of the parade. All right, Sam, you deserve it, buddy. - All right, let's go. - Now, the entertainment update with the Billy Cod stuff. - So, Justin Timberlake comes to Boston this weekend. He's got two shows at the TD Garden, Saturday and Sunday nights. He has his last show in Chicago tonight, then his two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York, and then his two shows here in Boston. In Chicago this weekend, he addressed his DUI arrest in the SAG Harbor. - We've been together for months and days, and months and nights. It's been a tough week, and you're right here. (crowd cheering) And I think you can change this moment right now. I know sometimes, I'm hard to love, but you keep on loving me, and I love him right now. Thank you so much. - Okay, and I think he used the word, so thanks for riding with me. I don't think that was a good choice. (both laughing) - Sit on me, fit a big, better phrasing. - Little bit, yeah. - I just feel like he's 43, 42. He's been in the spotlight since he was 11, and he first time getting arrested for something like this, and I just feel like, I guess though, he was warned that night by the same cop. - Same cop pulled him over about 45 minutes earlier, and said, dude, get somebody else to drive, and he'd let him go, and he kept driving, and then the same cop, 45 minutes later, saw him weaving around, and that's when he got pulled over. And he ran a red light, and yeah. - Okay. - Anyway, yeah, this cop, I guess, has a nickname. He's only 22 or 23 years old on the force, maybe three months, and he already has a nickname for being so aggressive, but what are you gonna do? - What's your nickname? - I don't wanna say it. - Oh, he's really cute. - It's inappropriate, yeah. - Oh, it stands out, and I don't even know any of those. - I just thought he didn't even know who he was. Didn't even recognize the name, Justin Timberlake. - Yeah, that was a lot. - What tour you're talking about? - Yeah, I mean, you know his name, even if you don't know, some of his music you know his name. - He's one of the most famous figures in the world. - He's always on SNL, he's in all these movies, yeah. - Well, he's gonna be in town this weekend, Saturday and Sunday night. You're going to Janet Jackson Friday night, least? - Yes, at the garden. - Well, that's a crazy night, crazy weekend. - The garden is crazy, because Chris Brown's there on Wednesday. - Wow, he's Wednesday. - He's going, yeah. - That's gonna be a good show. - He puts on a great show, he is so, so talented. Taylor Swift had a few shows in London this weekend at Wembley Stadium, talk about a star-studded audience. Prince William was there with the kids. - Yeah. - The kids were taking pictures with Taylor backstage. Hugh Grant was there, Paul McCartney, Tom Cruise, Ashton Kutcher, and Mila Kunis, Liam Hemsworth, all there. And Travis Kelsey and his family went to all three shows, or at least Travis did. - And Travis was up on stage with Taylor in one of her skits for her song. He was in a top hat and tails. - Yeah. - He was powdering her face, and then he picked her up, just like every girl wants to be picked up. - Wow. - London got the, they got Jason and Kylie Kelsey, they got the, they got everything. London had the three best shows, and everyone's saying it's kind of a dig, because she lived there with Jo Allyn, and this is her man. - Oh. - Take her out on stage. - Oh, that's a good point. - And they went Instagram official with the picture of Taylor, Travis, and Prince William. And his two kids. - Yeah. - This is a big, this is a big weekend for them. - It was. - Yeah. - It was, it was really, she, I don't know, it was great. I mean, I'm not even a big Swiftie, but I feel like this was a good weekend for the Swifties. - Yep. - Not a really good weekend for Ben and J-Lo. She's still tooling around Italy by herself. - Okay. Can I just mention something? Didn't she say that she was canceling the tour to spend more time with family? - It's exactly what she said. - And now she's in Italy without her family. - For like two weeks. - Are the kids, are her kids? - I don't think her kids are there. I said she was with some friends. To me, it looks like a work trip, but maybe not. I don't know, it just seems a little strange. - Well, you always see her with her entourage and for some of you, her vocal coach, but yeah, her vocals don't get any better. 'Cause I don't know why, what he's doing with her. 'Cause he's there all the time, but nothing's changing. - Yeah, this is me. It's all about this is me. I'm telling you, it was torturous watching the documentary, the J-Lo documentary last night. - Well, you know, Ben was just on with Kevin Hart on his TV show, Hot to Heart on Peacock. And he talked about how much more, the difference of their fame, because you know, I don't think he looks at himself the way like maybe he looked at J-Lo and he was just saying like, everywhere we go, it was like we had a walk-a-block with the kids in New York and like it was like, J-Lo, J-Lo, J-Lo. And I'm like, but you're Ben Affleck. - Well, but she has a different level of fame. - Yeah, but I gotta tell you, watching the documentary because there is a lot of Ben in J-Lo time, like sitting on the couch talking about the project and it's just Ben is such a nice guy. And J-Lo is just J-Lo, like it's, I'm telling you, it's torturous for him. - My thing is that he knew all this when he was with her before. - Yeah, he did. - And he went back for seconds. - Right. - Yeah. - Knowing everything about her, all the things that drove him nuts. That's what I'm saying. - Yeah, there must be something right that we're missing. - Must be. I like to find out who this vocal coach is. - Oh, he's actually find his name. He does, he's kind of famous. - I think the best part of the whole documentary was the fact that Fat Joe was in it. - I know, I love that. - Yeah, he's connected to her closely. - Yeah, well, they got the New York connection, right? - Was Benny Medina in it? - Oh, absolutely, big times, big times. - It's Steve and Mackie, he's a big vocal coach. - Oh boy. - Hey, the new Inside Out movie, crushing the box office again this weekend, taking in more than a hundred million. That's a new record for an animated movie. And Elon Musk this weekend welcomed his 12th child, his third with the same woman, they've got twins that were born in 2021. So, is Elon Musk of the new Nick Cannon? - Well, they both want to, you know, - Populate? - Populate the world. - And they both think highly of themselves, right? - Yes, I guess. - With their, yeah, gene poll. - Well, they both have 12 kids now. - Yeah, they're dead even. Who's gonna have the 13th first? - I just love Elon's kids' names, they're the best. - Oh, yeah. - Like one kid is just known as Y. - Yeah. - But even, but even Nickie has like legend and like a dream. I don't know, he has all these names. - One of the other kids is a number. It's a number. - Just a number. - Just a number. - Yeah. Climate activists were on the move this weekend. They thought they were spray painting Taylor Swift's private jet, but painted the wrong jet. Then they spray painted a Stonehenge in the UK. That's a world famous Stonehenge, are you kidding me? And it was funny because Taurus started tackling them. What are you doing? And they also showed up at the PGA event in Connecticut yesterday here was the call. - We've got a whole group of protesters here. They've been tackled on the ground, on the green. Well, at least they responded quickly, but we've got, I see four protesters that have been handcuffed. They just came flying down the hill out of the gallery. - Wow, you never see anything at golf events. - No, Scotty Scheffler, he actually won, right? He commented on the protest. - Yeah, there's people running around everywhere and you don't really know what's gonna happen. So it's a bit confusing. Fortunately, the police did a great job. You don't get in everything in order very quickly. I don't know how quick it was, but it seemed really fast to us. - Yeah, I don't see how they expect to get people sympathetic to their cause by doing this, destroying our destroying Stonehenge, destroying private jets, attacking PGA events. I don't think that's the way to go. Call me crazy? - Yeah, I mean either. I mean, it's important to them, I get it, but it doesn't really help their cause. - You're making people angry, blocking highways, delaying people, they're trying to get to the hospital. - Out of all those things though, I feel like the private jets are the only thing that's actually polluting. What is Stonehenge doing? It's just sitting there. - There's just a bunch of stones sitting there. - Yeah, I don't understand what that's gonna do. - Attention, I guess. I don't know, but God. Hey, late last week, Seltz on a Rick Grosback suggested Al Horford would be back next year and Horford pretty much confirmed it. I'm coming back as the plan and we already kind of talked about our off-season how it's gonna look like. I need to take a little time off right now, but I'll start training in a couple of weeks again and kind of get it going and build it back up and I'll be ready to go. - Oh, that's exciting, I love him. - Yeah, you had a big crowd at Dick Spornigoods over the weekend. - Listen, so to Derek White, he was Dick's too in Boylson. Like they just-- - And he already has new teeth. - Yeah, he went right at the next day. He went to a place in Boston and they fixed them up. Do you think they're temporary or? - Probably. - Probably, yeah. - Hey, we're brought to you by Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club Experience, the quintessential Cape Cod Summer at Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club name. By the way, that's Hotel Cape Cod by Boston Magazine. Villas and hotel rooms of private beach swimming pools of word morning golf, pickleball, four restaurants, live music, spa days. Can you say weekend, getaway? Just go to OceanEdge.com and there you go. - Thank you, Bill. (upbeat music) - From the Planet Fitness Kids 108 studios, we're back with Villy and Lisa in the morning on Kiss 108. - Hey guys, welcome back. Don't forget the Timberlake Double Play is going on. You're listening for two Timberlake songs in a row back to back. When you hear that, you want to be caller 25. You'll instantly get a pair of tickets to a show this weekend. It's actually got two shows this weekend in Boston. And you'll qualify for the grand prize, which is basically everything, right? - Right, it's an overnight stay in a suite at the Revere Hotel in Boston. You're gonna have dinner on the rooftop. You get Justin Timberlake merch. She got spa treatments, everything. - All right. - In the meantime, talkbacks, Justin. - Yeah, you know, I say it every single day. Tap the red microphone on the iHeart app. And I know so many people hear me say it, but never kind of take the initiative to do it. And when they do do it, you know, we're appreciative. - Hello, Justin, Billie and Lisa. How skinny we need. How you guys doing? It's been a long ride, Evan. - I actually sign up, I listen to you guys every day. And I haven't had the chance to actually take an initiative to press a lot of microphone and reach out to you guys. I like them at the show. And you guys have a hell of a need right here. Last in Boston, South Texas. - Go! - Okay. - All right, let's go. - You know, I say it every single day, you know, download the iHeart app. It's freaking wearing your phone. You search, kiss one away, you listen live. And there's a red microphone. It's called a talkback mic. And you leave a message, which then I get. And then I bring a voice on the radio. - And by the way, that voice you just heard is the voice of Justin, the executive producer of this program, who by the way today, is 16 years sober. Okay. - Oh my God, today's a day. - Oh, okay. - Thank you, sir. - I'm so proud of you. - Thank you, Lisa. - And Winnie. - Yay! - 15 years. - That's a big deal. - I'll start it with one day. - Yep. - Well, I remember when I couldn't even get one hour. I'm so happy for you. - Yeah. - What was the one day like, the first day? - The first day clean? - Yeah. - It was very sad. It was very, I didn't know if I was gonna make it. You know, if anyone's struggling out there, you know, I remember it was like one minute at a time. - Right. - I was like, oh, well, maybe I'll get high in five minutes. And then that would go by and I'd keep it going. And then, you know, hours turn to days and days turn to weeks and weeks turn to months, but it's still a daytime program. - Yeah. But we're still proud. - Yeah. - Yeah. And you look great too. - Thank you, Lisa. - You're welcome. - Can I just tell you guys? So I was at Justin's this weekend for his daughter's birthday and all, most of his friends are in recovery and they're all great people. But you know, these are hardy guys. They're most of them in construction, plumbers. - I love that. - Brick layers, like you name it, right? And then, so they come and they start making fun of Justin, like, oh, look at Justin with his new teeth and then he's gonna get them bow talk and he's on testosterone. Like, all right, guy. You get a little, you know what I mean? - Yeah, the hot tub, the ice bath. - Oh, it's like, what happened to you? (laughing) - It's like, this is like your glow-up period. - Well, especially like some of them, you know, I've done time with, I've done, you know, some serious dirt with, you know, so now I feel like. - Wow. - It's like a new teeth. (laughing) - Oh God. Anyway, we got Captain Loftus standing by and now this trial could end this week. What are we gonna do? - When this chair and retrial is over, I will have absolutely no life. Okay? Have a great day, guys. Love ya. - Yeah, this could be the last week, but there was trial, there was court on Friday. Captain Loftus, our attorney at large, gonna bring it all down. Nick. - Julian Lisa. - Kiss 108. - Okay, we're back. Sorry, I was sipping my coffee. I wanted to be geared up for this because our in-house legal expert, Catherine Loftus, counselor Loftus, 'cause it's you. - Good morning. - Back in studio. Yes, there was testimony. Actually, the defense is already presenting its case. But first, if you don't mind, counselor, I would like to discuss the street brawl that happened by these people almost, do they get their mail at these bars? They're constantly-- - But we should mention what we're talking about. We're talking about the-- - The Karen retrial, yeah. - The Karen retrial. And this could be the last week of testimony, correct? - Yes, it will be the last week of testimony because I think they're probably gonna wrap up maybe today or tomorrow. I don't think they can have much more of the accident reconstructionists and maybe one or two more, but I think the defense will be short and sweet. - That seems like a short presentation to me. - You know, I think they might not have even had to put any witnesses on it. It's always a risk as defense counsel, if you say, "Hey, we're just gonna rest. "We're not even gonna put any witnesses on "to rebot the Commonwealth's evidence." So usually people don't do it when they decide to, instead, you know, if you saw their witness list, they had, I think, 50, 60 witnesses. And so we're probably only going to get five or six of the witnesses that they think are the most pertinent to, you know, rebot the testimony that the Commonwealth put in, but certainly a lot speedier than the Commonwealth was. - I didn't see much of the testimony, but I saw the doctor on the stand who said, "Yes, the injuries on his arm were caused by an animal." - Dr. Russell, yes. She was very good. I thought she presented very well. And I think, as we've talked about many times, it comes down to expert opinions, what the jury thinks. Basically what she said is, from her perspective and her background in training, that she believes the injuries on her arm are consistent with any animal. You know, can she rule it out exclusively? No, can she say it's a large dog exclusively? No, but I thought she was fairly credible. - I thought she was too. And I actually thought that Brian, the plow guy from Canton, came across very credible too. - He did. And overall, I thought from the defense witnesses, they presented, they just were a little friendlier. And sometimes, when you have a witness who just seems more likable, you just seem to believe a little bit more, and you listen to them a little bit more. So I do think that they were persuasive. - But for the defense that probably didn't need to present a defense, they seem to have pretty good witnesses. - Well, and you always have to remember that the defense is going to, what their job to do, again, is to create reasonable doubt, right? And we know that they have poked many holes in the Commonwealth's witnesses. But they also want to put their own testimony on and their own evidence on to not just poke holes, also to say, hey, we actually have somebody who says the exact opposite of what the Commonwealth is saying. And even if you don't necessarily believe what the defense experts say, when it's enough that you have one from the Commonwealth, one from the defense, it's kind of a draw, if you can't decide which one is more reliable. - But we should mention that Brian, the plow guy, his nickname is Lucky, right? - Yeah, that's right, no. - He was talked about in the trial with-- - Sergeant Talley Talley saying that they didn't think that he was reputable enough. - Right, so what they said, I don't think it was necessarily to his character, but that when they interviewed him, he changed his story about the timelines and multiple times so that they didn't find him his information to be credible enough to rely on. So, Lally tried to cross-examine on some of that, but he did pretty well under the pressure. - I thought he did too. - If you just tuned in, we're talking with their counselor, Loftus, about the Karen Reid trial, the Karen Reid trial, of course, is capturing everybody's attention nationally. - It is. - I started on national networks again last night, and the story goes that while she's being charged with driving over her boyfriend and killing him with her SUV, and of course, her defense is saying it's a complete cover-up, she didn't do it, and Winnie, you had a question. - Well, Billie alluded earlier. We don't normally talk about the Germanics outside of the court. We very much stick to the courtroom. - Yes, we try to, but we have to talk about what happened over the weekend. - Yeah, so for these who don't know, Turtle Boy, who was a local blogger, kind of broke the case two years ago about what was going on with this case, and he's very much pro-Karen Reid, which is really fine, and he was out in Canton, and some of the prosecution's witnesses who's related to them, AKA the Alberts, they're in-laws, and Courtney Proctor, who is the Michael Proctor's sister, who was a very questionable detective, rolled up on him and assaulted Turtle Boy. Now, does this not just go back to likeability, how are you just saying the defense is way more likable? This is your prosecution, the whole side, these people are involved, related to all these people that were on the prosecution side, and they're very unlikable people. - You know, I think, listen, I think, I try to stay out of the drama of it, because, you know, because a lot comes from it, and usually it's a peripheral, but I think the interesting thing that I did, I got sent to the video of them last night, and I think it's a little problematic that Turtle Boy is going to see if him copies, which is next to D&E, when he has active witness intimidation charges against two people. - But you know he's doing that for, right? He's doing that for me, right? - She walked right into his trap. - He's smart, he's doing this to improve. I'm just going to restaurants. - Right, but I think the rest of one. - Right, and I think that's the point. So I think, you know, you're going to have two different perspectives from it. You know, I see it as not appropriate if you have active charges in superior court with people, and then you're really taunting and antagonizing, and you know, it is clearly who these people are. I mean, they're rough and tumble, and they're rough around the edges. - They're tense. - I'm not, you know, I said to Billy, at least with this one, I'm not surprised. It reminds me of hanging on Elle and Ethan's healthy, and like, someone's got a beef and it comes flat. - You know, God, very true. - I'm not going to harm to it, very true. - But, well she also felt right in the turtle boy's trap. That's, he was ready with his phone. - Right, that's the problem. - You have to have the proper strength. - Yeah, because that's what he wants, yeah. - I'm almost like, at the end of the day, like, let turtle boys do what he's going to do. Like, he, this is what he does. Let him do it, like, who cares? He's going to a restaurant. Just you, you pull up, you drive like a bunch of thugs. - I'm sorry, Courtney, your brother's the one that messes with Jill, right? - Jill Daniels, yes. - So Jill Daniels, who actually physically assaulted him on camera, is the sister of, of Julie Alberts, who was married to Chris Alberts, who is the brother of Brian. - You couldn't write this, Jill, and then who's driving the car? - So what happens, so what happens to Jill Daniels? - So I think she'll get a summons, probably for a song bad right now. - She'll get a summons. - Because if it's not witnessed by the police, and it's a misdemeanor, then you can't be arrested. I'm saying it has to be the police after witnesses. So because they came after the incident, so she'll get a summons into court, probably in the next month or two. - I cannot believe how emotionally connected everybody is to this trial, even nationwide. I had a listener come up to me yesterday saying, "All right, listen every day, I listen every day." Karen Reed is 100% innocent. I can't believe you have that lawyer on it. She doesn't know that. I'm like, call into the show. - All right, so we do not formulate opinions on our show. - I know God forbid we're in the middle of it. - Oh my God, I was just out walking the dog. So call in if you're listening. Call in 617-931-1108, because it is topic time, Justin, how do they send the talkbacks? - It's that little red microphone when you download the iHeartRadio app. That's a message that will get sent to us, and I will then maybe put you on the radio. - Maybe, so topic time is next. - What is the topic? - Today, we're going to be talking about... - Billy and Lisa present topic time. - Talk amongst yourselves topic time. - Here we go, topic time. Counselor Loftus is in studio, obviously, the topic this morning is the Karen Reed trial. And a couple of minutes ago, we were talking about emotions running high outside one of the local bars. And we've got somebody on the phone anonymous who was there. - Oh, maybe. - So good morning anonymous. - Good morning. - So you were there, what did you see, what did you hear? - I was there just having a beer with my husband, and we noticed her at a boy was having dinner. It was, he was lovely, we went up and said hi to him. Then he left, went outside, and all of a sudden everyone kind of ran to the window and started watching chaos into the crew next door with Yelling, he was videotaping, back and forth. - So what did you see? - And then Jillian, Daniel pulled up, flew out of her car, flew it like it was as if it was in like a movie, and just started screaming, grabbed the phone, he stayed time the entire time. It was just, it was wild then, then the police came and there was a news truck there. It was just, it was out of a movie, it was insane. - Did they take her into custody? - No, they did not. And then people who kind of, I was standing next to, they were saying that because, I don't know, the legal conversation of it, but because the police didn't see the act themselves that she needs to do a different, I don't know, I forget what it's called, but. - A summons. - Yeah, I think she's gotten a summons check, yeah. - Yeah, yeah, they need to do, is that real? Because they didn't see it. - Well, thank you for listening and thank you for the call and I witnessed the brawl outside the bar. I'd be curious to see how much business has improved of these local bars that everybody goes to. - Oh, I think, you know, at least probably for the next year or two, it's, you know, like the look you lose. - Yeah, I drove by the hillside pub a couple of days ago, it was packed, parking lot. - Oh, you keep driving by these. - It's the hillside, it's right next to me. - It's right next to me. - It's him melting on like the, or technically he can't, but it's on the middle line, like right off the highway. - Wow. - Yeah. - At least he's like, let me just shave on right around. - I get my gas at Blue Hills Gas all the time, it's the best price in town. - Your parents are in town, so you probably tripped them on the Karen Reed Trail. - I haven't, but I will. (laughing) - Let's get some questions here. - I have a question for Katherine. On Friday, now that the defense is having their turn, why is it that sometimes we hear from Jackson, sometimes we hear from Yannetti, and sometimes Miss Little? How do they decide who's going to go? - So that's strategic, they do that whatever they're, you know, when they're prepping about which witness each attorney is going to take. They did it, and they alternated with the Commonwealth's witnesses if you notice that Jackson took most of the police witnesses, and Yannetti took most of the civilians, and then generally they put Attorney Little in when there's not going to be a huge back and forth, it seems like maybe it's a little bit more direct of a cross-examination, or there's not going to be as many questions. They lead sort of the more litigious ones to Jackson and Yannetti, but that's really just, the back and forth, it also helps the jury in that contrast with the Commonwealth, who just has Adam Lally asking the questions, because, you know, it's nice to see the different styles and switch up, so it, I think it's good for the jury to see different, you know, different ways. - So outside the courtroom, they each prepped for the person they're going to be dealing with, which I guess makes sense. - Yes. - It's getting crazier and crazier. It's all over the national, the network news now, and boy, Turtle Boy comes out of nowhere, and like he's like the most famous guy around. - Yes, it seems to be. - Do you think somebody in the bar called the family and said Turtle Boy is at the bar having dinner? - I think it seems like the people, the family was, I mean, it's D&E's next door, Chris Albert owns it, so, you know, he's there, he's working, I'm sure there were a couple of other people there, and then once they found out Turtle Boy was there, I'm sure that's when-- - They hopped in the car. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Right. - They all need anger management. Everyone's so angry, yeah. - Well, it's, yeah, a ton of being here, yes. - It's, I think it'll be really interesting. I think when everybody gets like a break and we take, can take a step back from, you know, once we get the verdict and once, you know, tensions have kind of died down to really look at all the little intricate pieces that have gone on, both inside the case and as well as the person. - You were telling us off the air a couple of minutes ago that Mark Wahlberg's production company is possibly working on a documentary on this? - Yes, that's my understanding, yes. And I think, like we were saying, I imagine there's gonna be a number of different documentaries and Netflix as well, and, you know-- - She's probably got a book deal. - I would think there's gonna be lots to come from this because this is a story that is pretty entertaining. - It's like the Murdoch case down in South Carolina. - Justin? - Well, Catherine, when you, you know, when and if they ask you to be a part of any of these documentaries, can we get a shout out? - Of course you can. - Oh! - Who have legal analysts have kissed one of me. (laughing) Hey, you know? - You got to find me in the show, I don't wanna kiss, yeah. - Wow, this is, God, this trial is fascinating to me. - We gotta keep going here. - Yeah, let's go. - Let's go. - I have a question for our favorite Jenny. What is going on with the jury when they go to lunch? Are they allowed to talk about the case with each other or has no communication really happened between them to kind of get a feel for what each other's thoughts are so far, name? - So technically they're not supposed to. I have always found it hard to believe that they're not, you know, I don't think that when this one, not to deliberate until the end of the trial. So it's not as if jurors are going back every time they're on a break or on lunch that they're really getting into the substance of the testimony, but I would be surprised if they're not having some chatter back and forth. We've been here since mid-April, you know, clearly, what happens a lot of times in these juries is people form relationships with other jurors, you know, they really become, it's kind of-- - Oh, they must be besties now. They're gonna frigate along, you know, so-- - Or there could be some infighting among the jurors. - It goes both ways. So when the trial's over, can the jury then speak to the media? Yes, and it's always up to them. So that you, it's not an obligation, they could all remain silent, they don't have to talk to anybody, but it's always interesting when we-- - Totally. - At least if we get a couple of jurors who talk, to give a little bit of insight into what everybody was thinking behind the scenes. - Well, they're saying there's a chance the defense could rest as early as today, which means then the judge would instruct the jury when. - Probably, so if it is a half a day, which I'm not 100% sure of, but then she would do it tomorrow. If the defense wants the defense rest, what they'll do is they'll renew the emotion for a directed verdict, which is what Alan Jackson did on Friday. - Does that ever work that the judge says you're right? (laughing) - I couldn't agree more. - Couldn't you remark that this case is over? Does it ever work? - Very, very rarely, but it's almost never in cases like this. It's usually in something that's a two day trial, maybe in district quarter, but the standard really is. So basically the defense always has to, to preserve their appellate records, you have to file for and move for a directed verdict. That's what Alan Jackson did at the close of the commos, evidence, and then they do it again at the close of the day. - So everyone always has to do that. - They always have to do that. - All right, back to the phones. Or you wanted to do a talk back, Justin. I mean, either or. - Yeah, just go ahead. - They're lined up over here. - Hi, Catherine. So you had previously mentioned that like Brian Hagan's and Brian Alberts getting rid of their phones is like, it's unlikely that they're like texting about a murder cover up, but there's likely things on there they don't want to come out. Hypothetically speaking, if they hadn't gotten rid of their phones and there was other stuff on there that they didn't want others to see, could that actually publicly, legally come out or no? - I would say if it didn't have anything to do with the case, likely not. Because when, if you're seizing somebody's phone as the police, or if you're getting, if a Rule 17 motion to get the records from it, they're looking for something specifically. So they did want the information from, you know, that January 28th through a set date and eventually, and it's really interesting because they were ordered to preserve the phones, right? And then got rid of them, but ultimately, the order was denied. So if they had just held on to them, not destroyed them or got rid of them, and then the order was going to be denied, nobody was going to see the phones anyway. So it's kind of this now, but because they did, they got to argue, you know, the inference that there was something on them. But if it was, you know, if it was things like how Michael Proctor was talking about Karen Reid, unless it had to do with the case, it likely wouldn't have come out at least in this aspect. - Again, like everybody else, we're talking about the Karen retrial. Justin, you haven't had to talk back? - Yeah, we'll do one more here. - I was just wondering if anyone thinks that the final defense witness will be Chloe. What if she walks in, like with dad to the bone playing, a hair bow in her hair, some sunglasses on, and Jackson is like, here you go. We have Chloe on the hand. - Who's Chloe? - And Don. - Oh my God. - The German Shepherd. - Oh boy, that's the missing German Shepherd. - Well, the doctor on the stand did say the wounds were caused by an animal. - We've had a lot of weird things happen, so you just never know. - Imagine the Shepherd starts walking down the aisle. Well, that's a big question. - Do you think prosecution is still going to have the rebuttal witness for the dog bite? - That's a good question. I actually was wondering that I, honestly, I feel like, no, there's no, at this point, everybody just wants, people already have, and I think jurors have already decided, you know, which one we want to believe, I don't think a rebuttal witness is really going to do anything at this point. So, you know, give it to the jury, let them start deliberating. - All right, that's Catherine Loftus, our legal expert. There's Chloe in the background. And from Loftus and Loftus, you can find her on social. Note my objection. - That's right, thank you. - And so we think it's a half day, I saw a report that said the judge had a hearing for the Brian Walsh case at two o'clock this afternoon. I could be wrong. But there will be some testimony today, you coming in tomorrow? - I am. - All right, Catherine Loftus. - See you tomorrow. - To see you tomorrow.
