This podcast is a proud member of the Blueberry Network. That is Blueberry with noease.com. Blueberry with noease.com. Remember, you drop the ease. You're listening to the Bonsai Beat, your weekly window into the world of anime, featuring all the latest news, episode reviews and discussion. And now, broadcasting live from an abandoned love hotel. Your hosts, Pat, send Jellicoon. Hey everybody, this is Jellicoon with the Bonsai Beat. This is episode 35. As always, Pat, if you're with me. Hello. Hey Pat, tell us a little on this week. It's going okay, nothing exciting to know. I'm finally at a new air conditioner installed though, so I'm happy. Hallelujah. Yes, I did the same thing on Tuesday, and then the next day it was 94 degrees out. I'm kind of happy. My wall still looks like hell, but besides that. What did you do? Punch a hole in the wall and just put a new window air conditioning in it? What did you do? Well, it was already in the wall, like my air conditioner is in the wall, and we had to cut up the dry wall to get the old one out, because it wasn't installed, or anyone old people installed it. It's a bunch of work. How are your Mexicans? Not just one guy, not Mexican, but just white. The first time around. I'm not going to have to get a dry wall guy in now though, it's not a wall. Dry wall can be a be-otch to say the least. I've done that, and it's not fun. So, if you're interested in joining us here this week, you can catch us at 646-652-2487, and we would love to hear your comments and all that fun stuff related to the news, and our review. We were reviewing Wreck, a short nine episode OVA, and then we also got the greatest news of the week from Anime News Network. Yeah, how about we just hit "Ready for the News?" If I can be ready. Damn these buttons. Okay, this week in Anime News, brought to you by Anime News Network. Alrighty then, well, as always, Anime News Network brings us the news. And we'll start off with everyone's jumping for joy. If you're a Hari Yizumia fan, today aired the very first new episode in the "re-broadcasting of the original show from 2006". So a brand new show came out. Yeah, I don't know what this is about though. Yeah, I have not watched it either, I got it. I haven't watched it yet, I mean, I know what the story is, and it's at the right place chronologically. What I'm curious about is if there's more, if they're just screwing with people at this point. Well, they've got a new ending theme. Yeah, they do, that's true, but still it's one of those things where... Is there more? There is more. Wow, you want to dance to this? Yeah, no kidding. Yeah, same here. It's been that one, and Kio Annie has barely been fucking with the fans. And I think people are either going to get sick and tired of it, or... Obviously they aren't. Oh no, of course not. Yeah, no kidding, I mean, just like, hopefully there's more, because it's like, why would they do one episode? Why one? But um... I imagine there is, but I'm betting there won't be another one for a while, because chronologically, basically after this, a lot of the stuff, as far as I know, a lot of the stuff that comes after this before you get to disappearance has already been animated. Oh, okay. This one just wasn't animated in the first season, so I'll bet you... It's just the left one. After this one, after this one, there's going to be a long break of episodes that are re-airing still, and then it's going to come back with the new episodes again after it finishes all of those. Mm-hmm, definitely. Um, it would be a good thing to do, for sure. Well, I guess, I mean, like, a new episode, a new episode. Yeah, I mean, yeah, it's been gay that it's been, like, two, you know, three years now, but they've been going, "We might, we might not. We might-" Oh, why are you there here? We got this extra one we found on the computer, here, we'll just throw it in there. Yeah, no, so. But um, uh, but yeah, I haven't seen it yet, I'm anxious to see it. My whole thing, though, is I saw the "American" version. I didn't watch it when it aired originally, I didn't even know it existed then, actually. And um, um, to be honest, I don't know how it's going to, you know, how it's going to, should I go back and watch the Japanese version, you know, the chronological way, or what do you think watching it would not make much sense? I'm not sure what you mean, okay, well, you know how the DVDs in America were released in their own fucked up way? No. Well, the DVDs in America were released chronologically, um, well- The DVDs in America were released chronologically, yeah, the regular volumes, they were released shit. Yeah, they were released in the chronological order. Yes, but then there was the Japanese broadcast order that- Yeah, which is the one that fucked up. Yeah. But it doesn't really matter. Okay. I mean, it's just the ordering- it doesn't change the order in which things happen. All you need to know is, this episode takes place after, um, after melancholy of Harter Jesus and Mia part six. There you go. That's all that really matters. Yeah. It takes place after the end of the main story of the first one. Gotcha. Gotcha, gotcha. Well, okay, well, hey, it's good news for all the fans and whatnot. And, um, yeah. So, moving on, uh, YouTube, Crunchyroll are going to be streaming Colonel Kami, the TV anime. Um, the cool- the cool thing about this is, they'll be streaming dubbed episodes. One week after the TV runs in Japan. So- Well, I don't know if you ever remember this, this is the one that they announced that was going to be airing on Imagine A- Oh, yeah! Imagine A- Yeah, it was like only like two people in the United States could even- Yeah, you're right. No one gets the channel. Yeah. Yeah. And now it's finally going to be available for people. Ha ha ha. Damn, the- Yeah, if you live in LA, you get it, it was basically all that. Only people that got the friggin' imagination. But now- No, everybody- It was LA and like- Yeah, Crunchyroll. Yeah, Crunchyroll. Yeah. Well, the great thing, too, is YouTube. I mean like- Yeah. Alright. Crunchyroll's better. Is it? Well, yeah, I think it better quality. So if you have a paid subscription? Oh, even there. Yeah, I remember. I got- I remember watching the- It's Wednesday. Oh, sorry, go ahead. Yeah. You get the nice idea I was going to say, is I remember before the paid descriptions watching the HD quality was like almost watching the damn thing that you downloaded right off the internet. Some good stuff. Um, I'm going to be interested in seeing the, um, the dub work. I mean like, I wonder if they went and hired American dub actors or- Yeah, they did, yeah. It's um, uh, shit it's, uh, I'm pretty sure it's bang zoom. Oh, well, there you go. And then it's not- I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure it's bang zoom. Well, there you go. So it's going to be not half-assed and shitty, sweetie. No, it's not half-assed at all. No wonder if that means we'll get the DVDs even that much quicker than when it ends. You know how, even like in Japan, they're like, "Hey, I got the show staring, but here's only one." Well, it was originally- well, they- it was originally going to- they originally solicited the DVDs for like, um, uh, like this month, but then it got delayed. Gotcha. Hopefully it'll come out in- or it was originally going to come out in like July and it got delayed, I think, and then hopefully it'll come out in August. Yeah. Definitely, that would be a good thing to get quicker stuff. And I think it's so freaking awesome, though, that- that, you know, we get to, um, have a- you know, we get to have something for American- American anime fans who don't necessarily want to want- read subtitles. I think it's really cool, but we're getting an English dubbing as it thinks airs. That is so- Yeah, but at the same time, we don't get it subbed, though. That's- No, that's true. It's only available dubbed on there. That's true, too. And some people like, some, some. Yeah, I've met a few people who are like, "Fuck dubbing, it's over nothing." So, yeah. Well, you can't please everyone, but I think this is a really kick-ass thing they're doing in the right direction. Yeah. Okay. Uh, okay, so let's see, "Scorable Z" manga ends in Japan. Well, what a tragedy. I'll be honest. You have two chapters. How much? Ten. Oh, no. That's short. Yes. What? It's pretty lousy. That cover looks pretty fucking direct, you would- um, yeah. So, um, Jin Kobayashi has ended his school, "Rumble Z", high school, romantic comedy manga in the June issue of, uh, Kedasho's magazine special on Wednesday. Um, so, yeah, if you like "Scorable Rumble," I've been watching it. I've been doing the whole manga series thing, sucks for you, I guess. I haven't finished the first anime, to be honest, so... Um, I gave up on school, "Rumble." I'm about how far in? Uh, I don't know, I watched both anime's. Uh, season one and two. Yeah. I'm about halfway through one, and so far, it's one of those- I liked it. It's good, it's a fun watch, but it's always Tenma being like, "Oh my God, there he is right there! I don't wanna act like an idiot!" And then she acts like an idiot. Well, what I always tell people is you gotta give yourself time until Tenma stops being important. Wow, yeah, but still- That's kind of the thing, you gotta get away from her once it stops revolving around her, it gets a lot better. Mm-hmm. Gotcha. Well, hopefully, 'cause I mean, like, the thing that pissed me off is it's like- That's how him looks great. Yeah, how much- he's kicked- he's like the badass bad guy. Uh, how long can I kick ass? But it's just like, the first, like, hat, like, I've seen it so far, it's been like, the same thing, like, "Oh, I like 'em." But I'm so shy! But I like 'em. Oh, but I'm such an idiot! Just like, "Oh, flow of Christ. Get off of it." But, uh, yeah. Um, so other kick ass streaming news, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is on YouTube. Um, Funimation, notes that the YouTube website streaming the first of our episodes of the 2009 Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood anime series. Um, then it just tells us what's- okay, so yeah. You can finally get the show on YouTube. The reason this kick so much ass is Funimation sucks ass with bandwidth. We've bitched about it before. Yeah, well, it's also on Hulu, though. Well, that's even better than- Yeah, it's been on Hulu, and then they're adding- Oh, okay. So yeah, there you go. Now it's better, though, so. Yeah, now you got alternatives, because, like, yeah, the biggest problem is- Funimation just can handle the crunch. It's still on Funimation first, and then it goes on the other ones afterward. Yeah. I don't know how long the delay is, but- Yeah, I doesn't mention. But it's a good alternative to say the least. Like, the way it ranks- I haven't tried out, um, the anime network's- streaming site, but I heard it sucks, but, besides them, the way it ranks for me is Hulu's at the top, then Crunchyroll is in Funimation. Okay. And I get- I don't even count YouTube, to be honest, if I would, they'd be at the bottom for me. Well, um, 'cause I just don't want to use YouTube, but yeah, Hulu is the best, is my point. Yeah. Well, I mean, I- I- I tried anime news network, but, like, it was just a watch of frickin' trailer, and it wouldn't play. It was, like, broke, and I was like, "What the fuck?" I've never used to theirs, either. Like, there's a garbage and gay go away. It was terrible. Like, I just did not understand, like, why, like, it was like- it showed everything, but it's like, "Oh, this can't be found." I'm like, "Wow. This is good stuff. Can't even get your trailers to work." And then, why should I trust you with, you know, the- you know, a show? But what I don't- what I understand- don't understand is, why is anime news network like they- one of the things that came out with this week was a video tier subscription. Why? You can get this everywhere else, and it's nothing original. It's like they're trying to be a crunchy role. Probably something. I don't know. So, why they wouldn't? Goofy. It's good for business. I guess. Just more traffic. Big money. Yeah. I guess. I guess. Okay. Well, moving on, kind of a bummer for this story, risk-confirmed shoujo beat manga magazine is ending in June, who knows. Yeah. That's a shame. Yes. Well, all of a sudden, it came out that they were not accepting subscriptions, and then it finally came out that, "Hey, this is taking a dump on the- uh, magazine business." Um, they're not taking a dump on the magazine business. Well, they're going away. They're- they're going away. Yeah. They're going away. Ah. What a tragic-- What is going away? Yes. Well, anything frickin' paper product released is going away. Look at magazines! But yes, the final edition of shoujo beat will be the July 2009 issue, which is on newsstands June 16th. So get it now, and sell it in a couple of years on eBay, say it was a collector's item or something. All right. I only found shoujo beat on them. Yeah, exactly. Shoujo beat at like Barnes & Noble. That's like the only place I found it. Well, you wouldn't find that at a drugstore. It's not a magazine, it's an anthology. Yeah. It's not like new type, it's more of- it's like- it's- it's the same as Shonen Jump. Yeah. Shonen Jump's garbage, though. Shonen Jump's Shonen. Ugh. Yes, but all it is is like Death Note, and more Death Note, and then there's some bleach, and then weed for next week, more bleach. And even more bleach. And even more bleach, and Naruto, and Death Note, and I don't- I don't think Death Note's in it, actually. Oh, I don't know. I'm just thinking of it as that. One piece is in it. It's- that's- that's what its market is. Yeah, I know. But you- you neglected to mention something in that's um- that this is launching in- well, it's essentially an online version. It's pronounced- I'm pretty sure it's pronounced icky, or icky. Yeah. icky, I think. And it's um- it's an online version of this Japanese Sinon mag anthology, and it's going to- they're going to be running, like, sounds like previews of different, um, Sinon manga. Gotcha. Which is cool, because that stuff doesn't really get much of a chance in the U.S., except- Can you explain what's- It's like- it's like- the step up from shonen, so it's targeted for rather than- it's like shonen to maybe, like, eight to fourteen-year-old boys. Mm-hmm. Sinon's going to be more mature. Gotcha. That's true stuff. It's really what it is. And it's never really given a big chance in the U.S. and hopefully- and it sounds like they're going to be using this to promote it more, which means more of that kind of stuff will come out in the U.S. Hopefully. I can explain to that really poorly, but- Well, to general, just of what's going on. It's pretty general. Yeah. So. Coolie. Okay, well, you know, everything seems to be moving online and whatnot, so we shall see. Uh, Miyazaki's Porneo Film at LA Film Fest, and everything's happening in June- on June 28th, the day before my birthday. I must go to ju- uh, not California. Yeah, so I must go to California and watch a film about fishies. What's goldfish? Mm, I don't know what's on your eyes. Oh, well. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. What's this fish that I can talk? Yes. Yes, but I don't think it's a goldfish. Well, whatever. It's a flounderfish. I don't know. I think it's a flounder. It's like a clownfish or something. Right. Whatever the thing in them, a little mermaid is. It's one of them. I don't think it looks like it. No, it's not. Yeah. Whatever. But anyway, it's a new Miyazaki movie. Yes. Hayao Miyazaki. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it is a goldfish. It's a goldfish. It's a goldfish. It wishes to be human. Score one for me. Okay. Good. You win. Yes. And the other- and this is actually some decent, really good English cast members. Matt. I always get them for these. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. Okay. Oh, that's me badass. Come on. Do you want me to kick this? Who cares about Tina Fey? You got Liam and Neeson down there. Well, there. Liam. Liam. Bad ass. Either way, we've got one of those bad ass voices ever. I don't know. He's the voice of Azlon in the Narnia movies. He never saw the Narnia movies. Uh. Have you- did you see Taken? No, I did not. It's fucking badass in that movie, too. Well, there you go. You know what? They should resurrect fucking George Carlin, and he can be, like, the voice of Poneo. It cares about George Carlin. Oh, that's it. That was a joke. Take that back. Or it's over. No. Yeah. Yeah, I guess I gotta go. So, yeah. So, yeah. Click. Um. No, everything's in Poneo. It's like a really cool movie for Miyazaki, and- it's really kid-oriented, but I think- Well, good knowledge movies aren't- Well, yeah, of course. Well, most of them. Yeah, most. Um. So, yeah, there you go. Fox is in talks with, uh, for a live action Japanese Paradise Kiss film. Um, have you ever seen the show Paradise Kiss? No. Well, first of all, it's one of the- only shows that I've seen that actually uses a big American rock star for, uh, uh, music to use, um, France-frenanted, uh, song, uh, fucking thing about that. Yeah, that's right. I remember that. Yeah. Yeah. And that was the ending of the show, and I was like, "Holy shit, I know that song." And I was like, "Sweet." Anyway, it's basically about these- this girl who kind of falls in with a group of modeling fashion students, and she becomes their kind- she becomes a model for their line of clothing, and she falls in love with a gay guy, and there's transsexuals and all kinds of cool stuff in there. The other way, it's a good show. Check it out. But yeah, they're talking about making a live action version of the film, which seems kind of weird, but hey, whatever. Um, so yeah, hopefully get you made it to be kind of- it'd be kind of interesting to see, uh, the thing that stood out in the anime at least, was the, um, the detail to the clothing and whatnot. Like, the one thing everyone said was the detail of the clothing and the character designs and all that stuff worked really well and just looked great, and that the, um, the author of the manga I guess, and like I said, the anime was a big, sickler on how it had to look and whatnot. So would be very interesting to see something like that, because, uh, it was a good story and a good show. And on DVD, check it out, get it for cheap now, like 20 bucks. So that is Be The News. Not a lot. And not really anything wow factoring, I guess. That's not that time of year. No. Well, I did actually see something, um, as I remember, Tezaka, as I'm not mistaken. Oh, fuck, who was it? I think it was Hao- no, it was Hao Miyazaki, is gonna be showing up at, um, A.X. this year. No, he's not. Oh, isn't? You read it wrong. Oh, damn it. Damn. I don't have the article in front of me, he's not gonna be at A.X. He's gonna be, uh, somewhere else in California at the exact same time it was. Yeah, California. All right. I think catch it all. Good game, keyboard. I don't remember where. I don't have the article in anymore. Yeah, I don't have in front of me either, but yeah, somebody's gonna be in the United States. Go watch him. He's great. Um, so we got our DVD pixel, the week here, uh, do you seen anything? Huh, I don't even have him in front of me right now. Cool. What's coming out this week? Yeah. It's another week and the more DVDs are being released. What should you get? It's time for the wheelies DVD picks. It's not worthy then. I got some good stuff coming out, uh, Claymore Volume Five. I know that was a big spio, I don't notice, you know. Kim is up to number five already. Um, Dragon Ball Z movies, Fist of the North Star movie. Go Fist of the North Stars have this week? Yes. There you go. Bing. There you go. That would be the pick of the week. Okay. Fist of the North Star and the movie on DVD from, uh, damn, I don't remember the name of the company. It's releasing it. We'll find and buy it. Bring that up. Hurry up internet. Yeah. That's about it for me. Yeah, or, or you can get season nine of Dragon Ball Z. Disco Tech, released by Disco Tech. Disco Tech. Yeah. Who the hell? I've never even heard of them. They released a lot of Asian films and stuff. Oh, it's only released a little anime before. Gotcha. I got to get Fist of the North Star. Where do you work, Pat? I work for Disco Tech. Okay. Oh yeah. I don't know. It just gets interesting. So, it's Fist of the North. I've never seen the show or anything like that. Is it a good show? Is it? Um, like I did it. It's an incredible show. Yeah. It's really great. Yeah. Well, anyone who it's, you know, it's shown in pre Dragon Ball Z. So rather than being, rather than every fight taking, um, six hours, most fights are pretty quick. But there's a lot of them in their really bad ass. And a lot of heads explode. Ah, one of those. Yeah. Oh yeah. No, it's not one of those. It is those. It's kind of really it's thing. So, I can't show the main character is the most badass guy on Earth. So, it's highly recommended and it's all actually the TV series is on Crunchyroll and Funimation's websites. Oh, yeah. You're right. It's up. That's where I've watched it. I haven't watched all of it yet personally, but I've watched some and I recommend watching more if you, if you, if you like stuff that's badass, let's put it that way. Well, there you go. Um, but like I said, speaking of badass, there's also Dragon Ball Z season nine, but this is like half the show. Well, this is the final set. This is the final set and they're done. Oh, okay. Dragon Ball Z on DVD. Until they come all the Kai. Oh, well, until they release it on Blu-ray or something or that, but that, that, but season nine is the last set in the, um, so how many discs, I mean, like do you have, do you have you on any of them? I have the first two, they're like six discs each. Oh, okay. Watch it. That's a lot of anime. Goddamn. Yeah, that's uh. Two hundred ninety one episodes. Whoo. The problem is, those things cost like ninety bucks a pop. No, they're fifty bucks. Are they? Yes. Oh, shit. And the older ones are like thirty five now, they drop the price on the older ones. Oh, yeah. So they're completely reasonably priced. There's nine of them, but they're reasonably priced. It's the easiest way to own the entire series. Huh, sweet. Well, there you go, if you like some Dragon Ball Z's, you'll like that shit. Fifty bucks, man. Still kind of a steep investment, but hey, kick ass. Now what about all the other crap that came out with, though? I don't know what you're talking about. Well, there's more than one Dragon Ball Z, I thought there was like- Oh, yeah. Well, there's a couple movies coming out this week. They've got Fusion Reborn and Wrath of the Dragon in a set coming out this week as well, which I need to pick up, because I like those movies. Gotcha. Well, there you go. I mean, Claymore, I guess would be my pick of the week. Fuck, I haven't even watched Claymore for only one yet, so I don't think the only show I've ever heard of everyone seems to really like, but- Fisted in the North Star of the movie, by the way, everyone says it's kick ass. Don't buy Claymore by Fisted in the North Star of the movie. You have spoken? Mm-hmm. I know. Well, what- Yeah, I have spoken so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so. Yeah, exactly. So my Mysocks has gone 21- Wants to know, do you go to pond jobs for your anime? Me? Yeah, you? No. No, you're not cool enough for that. Well, let me- not pond shops, per se, I mean, I'll get- there's like a couple rarely all, like, I'll go to big lots looking for volumes or movie stop, which I wouldn't call pond shop. Um, once in a while, littler, I guess you'd call them pond shops, but this is like maybe a couple times a year that I'd go to those kind of places. And that's- and I'm usually looking for very specific things when I go to those. It's like I'm looking for very specific old singles that I need to fill out series. Goddamn. Yeah, good luck finding- I'm trying to find that in a pond shop, so even that. That's how I got volumes 11 and 12 of or a battler done mine, which is fucking greatest day in my life. Oh, so happy when I found those. Did you buy everything in triplets? Triplets? No. I wish I could have three copies of that. That's so damn rare. I was like, oh, I danced when I found those. I found those and I guess you would call it a pond shop. It only solves DVDs and games though. It's the thing. Gotcha. I'm not going to like a big pond shop that's got everything, like a thrift store. I'm not going to something like that. Gotcha. How the price is- depends on the place I go. Movie stuff is actually really nice for this kind of stuff in my experience. I've gotten some reasonably priced stuff. I've walked away spending way too much money there, but at the same time I've walked away with some stuff I actually wanted. Unfortunately, movies stop, there's only like 40 or 50 stores in the entire country. Yeah, I've never heard of it up here. Yeah, I'm not surprised. Somehow I'm lucky enough that there's two near me. Yes. I rule. There's area of rules. I have to drive to them, they're about a 20 minute drive, 20 to 30 minute drive, but I will drive to get to these places because I freaking, because I can get some good stuff there once in a while. The guy managed to pick up, I went there a couple days ago and picked up, get a robo, armageddon, all four volumes, they were like six bucks each. Yeah, nice. I wanted that, and that's not really on the available most places these days. Because you needed it. That's awesome, man. I did need it. Yeah, or else you would die without it. Or else I wouldn't have it, that's the thing. There you go. I forbid. Yeah. So you guys can go ahead and call in and give your comments on anything, because we're kind of reaching the end of the show and we've got some time left, so yeah, you can join us in chat or you can join us live on the air via your cell phone or your landline, whatever. 646-652-2487, go ahead and comment on the whole hardware thing, the streaming of the English dub show that I can't think of, what the fuck are you calling me? Cara, there you go. Any of that stuff. Feel free to give us a call and get you on the air. I know for a bummer for me, I got my pine shop connection through my brother and he called me up the other day. Well, we got this, we got that, we got this, I'm like, yeah, no, no, it's not very good. What are they going for anyway? 50 bucks. I'm like, oh, what happened? Apparently, they've now realized anime doesn't cost five bucks for a box set. Oh, really? So now they're the other wives and us. Yeah, they've jacked them up and then I even told him, like, who the fuck's by, who's going to buy this at 50 bucks used? I'm like, I could go on frickinrightstuff.com and buy it for 20 bucks or cheaper, new. He's still in shrink wrap, like, hmm, so I'm kind of bummed out because I got some good stuff from good old pine shops. Connection is gone, man. I don't have to go resort to dumpster diving or something or just buying stuff now. I don't know. That's going to lie. That's not going to lie to you, it's got a lovely sale on ADV right now, buy some some ADV. There you go. They still have a shower, too. Oh, really? Oh, yeah, the ADs are going on. Well, unfortunately, money's be tight this month, so no ADV sales for me. But yes, yeah, there is not much going on. And I really hope something starts picking up on, you know, I can't wait for AX again this year. I just don't think we're going to be as shocked as last year when it came to a Funimation whooping ass and taking names. No, which is a bummer. But hey, I'm fine, I hope I want to see some good licenses. That's fine. Oh, I heard about that Funimation is possibly looking to get Detroit Metal City. That would be nice. Well, they had this pole where they had listed a ton of stuff. There's a lot of stuff on there that I doubt they'd ever license. So it's one of those things, it's like, I don't know, but there was some stuff on there that I liked seeing on there. I mean, yeah, they had Detroit Metal City on there, but they also had a complete redubbed Sailor Moon. So that would probably, I don't know if that would sell. It might, but I hear the light from what I've heard, the fees for Sailor Moon are so insane that no one is willing to touch it anymore like to release it in the U.S. because they want so much money for it in Japan. Okay. That's so funny. I didn't think Sailor Moon would be that big of a property still. I mean, I know it's a well, it's valuable. It was valuable in Japan and the company see it as still valuable, I'd imagine. Oh, yeah. That's really what it is. Gotcha. Well, I think it'd be bad, I think it'd be bad ass to get a, I mean, I'd love to have Detroit Metal City. Hell yeah, man. And America needs more, um, uh, fucking Crowsertown. Crowsert, man, best, that shell is just so awesome. No. Uh, that shell is great. I want to see the live action movie. I do too. I've never seen it. It's got Gene Simmons in it. I know. And, and I, from what I've heard, thank you AWO, you jerks. Um, cool review. I heard it's like shot for shot anime, but done in real life. So it, and I guess the manga, there's a manga that goes on even further than what the, the manga's coming out in the US. Yes. And I cannot wait to get my hands on it. I haven't pre-ordered, so I'm looking forward to getting ahold of it. That is freaking sweet because yeah, Detroit Metal City is just fucking epic. And I would be pre-ordering that shit like ASAP once it got announced. Um, well, okay, we got about 14 minutes left. So how about we do a review of Wreck, finish up the show and all that fun jazz. So Wreck was, this is a show you've seen, Pat, so feel free to jump in and have your face say, um, Wreck, yes, I'm sorry I'm boring you. Wreck was a, um, a, uh, basically a nine minute show, it's about eleven minutes after the intro and all that good shit. Uh, it was a nine episode OVA. It was on TV, actually. Yeah. No, yeah. I was referred to as an OVA. Okay. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. I'm missing this for the saying. Yeah, I did air on TBS. No, I wonder. Is that the same TBS like turn around here? No. Tokyo broadcast or something like that. Oh, that makes sense. I was like, damn, did turn to the PIM. Haha. You own Japan, bitch. Um, basically it's about this girl named Akka who's an up and coming. Um, well, she really starts off, this show has a nobody. Uh, one would be a voice actor. She's just completed voice acting school and was trying to make it on, make it big. Um, there's another character named, uh, Mitsumura, and basically the show starts off with Mitsumura. Uh, waiting at the movie theater for his date, well, he gets stood up by this really hot girl who works with him and accounting and he crumbled the tickets and Akka in the quote unquote voice of the tickets, says, don't throw me away. La-la-la. And she says, hey, I'll go with you. Wow, they go to the movie and the really weird thing is Akka is, uh, resetting the words out word for word through the subtitles and Matsumura was going to put off like this, like what the hell are you doing? Why are you reading everything? And saying it. So, they all go out and have a drink and we learned that Akka is 20 years old and she wants to be a voice actor and her dream is to be Audrey Hepburn. Um, Mitsumura is a 26 year old, uh, salary man. He works for a snack conglomerate in the advertising department. And so far he hasn't had any of his projects taken, so he just kind of feels like he's doing a bunch of work, really nothing. But, they have a good time and that's that. They find out their neighbors. Well, during the night, Akka's house burned to the ground. Uh, just all of a sudden, like, hey, there's sirens and a cat jumping in the window. Oh, and the house burned down. So, Akka's apartment burned to the ground and she has nowhere to stay. Well, Matsumura offers his house to her as temporary leasing, I guess you could say, being a good neighbor, but his name didn't have state farm anywhere in it. Um, they end up having sex, uh, and kind of introduce each other before they have sex. And, uh, now it's turned into Matsumura thinking there's a little more going on than, you know, what's on the surface. Well, the next day. It's really short. Yeah. It's the biggest thing about the actual anime covers the first volume. Oh, really? That's it. One volume is all that's covered in the anime. Holy crap. Yeah. It's very little actual content and this thing is the thing. The manga's actually really nice. I've read a few volumes of it, like, up to, like, volume seven. Well, the manga sounds better than this anime. The manga, you know, I mean, I'm not saying baby bad. Like what I mean is the first volume is the relationship. Oh, okay. It's the story of the first of the, um, anime is that first volume. And even then they cut out stuff in the anime. Yeah, I noticed when I was reading it, I was double checking stuff on Wikipedia. And one of the, uh, an entire character and some stuff. The anime I really liked. I thought it was really freaking cute. The characters were great. Yeah. So, uh, I'll get to the gist of what's going on then. So yeah, they meet, they have sex and they think of it. The guy thinks, "Hey, there's a little more going on. All right." And the girl is just like, "Yeah, I was weak. Uh, my house kind of burnt to the ground and I lost everything." And I needed a shorter to cry on and we had sex. Nothing more. Well, it turns out, much more of a project for a new snack, which is, like, called hot. It's called hot. It means leaf. It basically looks like a frickin' potato chip in leaf form. Um, he gets picked up. He makes a character that's half tree, half kitty, called nikka kai, or nikokai. And, yeah, there you go. And, well, it turns out they need a voice actors. Um, Akka gets chosen for the role. And most of the, most of the series is, we're not most of it. Some of the series is, well, they have this weird relationship. We gotta keep it a secret. And, uh, basically what ends up happening is, things don't go so hot for, uh, much more. The, the character kind of doesn't really take off. But, on the other hand, Akka is getting more and more and more, uh, popular as a voice actress. She does one of the best episodes I gotta see in the anime. Was the Hentai voice acting episode. She gets cast, she gets cast to star in a, to be a lead in an, in an itchy game. And, she just can't go with saying, you know, doing all the really sexual, uh, lines. So, to help her, she rents a porno. But then it's so embarrassed that she can't watch it in front of, you know, can't let everyone know that she's watching it, you know. Um, that was probably the best episode I watched. I saw the whole show was the whole, uh, itchy anime game episode. But basically what keeps happening is, Akka's, uh, Akka's stop keeps rising. Things keep getting worse and worse from much tomorrow. Um, and then the last two or three episodes, they finally start to finish off the whole, "Hey, I think we have feelings for each other." And, and the end of the show, they start dating as a couple. And that's where the show leads off. But like Pat just said, that was volume one. Yeah, it, it's the first volume and it goes on a lot more from it. I mean, I would suggest watching it. It's really cute. Yeah, it's like eight and a half minutes after you get through the intro. Yeah, there's short episodes. There's only, there's eleven of them in total. Yes. And, uh... No, nine of them. Nine? Yes. It's nine. Uh, anyway. Uh, it's short and it's a good primer. And if you like it, I'd suggest checking out the manga too. Fortunately, neither of them is licensed tragically. Yeah, this is a really fun show. And now, I thought that was funny, was the girl from, uh, the accounting. Uh, the big gutter boyfriend was his big ass. Like, you swear he was like a mop. You remember, he had all the rings and sunglasses. And it's like the part of a frickin' Japanese mafia. And, uh, she plays hard to get and just, it's good stuff. All the characters were all done. And I'm really shocked to hear that was just the first chapter. First volume, that's just crazy. Yeah, it's really not much. Who did the, uh, voice acting for Akka? It was really, I swear I've heard it before. I don't know. I don't have it in front of me. So. But, yes. Um, we got six minutes left. I would say check it out. Good stuff. Pat recommends it. If he recommends it, it means it's always good. Oh, yeah. Um, do you think they'll ever make a second? I mean, like, I kept, even I mentioned myself, after the show ended, I'm like, man, there was so much more they could do with this. They really did it. They made the anime just too damn early. And it's running is what the problem was, I think. I don't know why they made it so early. Mm-hmm. Oh, another cool thing to mention is that it was by Shaft. Which is a pretty popular animation studio. Mm-hmm. They did, um, uh, shit. I'm spacing out. I hit 'em already sketch. They did, uh, Sirenar, Zetsubo Sensei. Um, one of the Nagaima shows. I haven't even seen that, but, um, pretty popular studio. Yeah. It was one of their earlier shows. We actually use, um, Akka on our webpage, the Bonsai Beat, as one of the little bubbles right next to the Gundam. So, if you're curious of what she looks like, she's a cute redhead. Um, yeah, I would definitely love to see more personally, but one of those things, it's kind of weird. I guarantee you would never get licensed, too. It's a shame. So, I think we're gonna wrap up this show. Uh, this is episode 35. Um, so now get ready to get a pen and a piece of paper and all the links we're gonna throw at you. Um, you can follow Pat's and I on Twitter. Uh, Pat's P-A-T-Z Prime. I am Jellacoon. J-E-L-L-O-K-U-N. Check out the Bonsaibeat.com, sorry, Bonsaibeat.com. Uh, also check out Pat's other favorite pastime, I guess I could say. The Gaming Dungeon. You've got a great anime podcast and a great, uh, an even better gaming podcast. [laughs] Hey, I got, I can't say, you know. Oh, that anime? Yeah, it's great. Listen to them instead of us. Oh, yeah. [laughs] Hopefully we get, hopefully we get those two out. Game one, which is weekly in the anime one, which is biweekly for now. Oh, you gave up on the weekly anime? Uh, well, no, it's never weekly. They were both originally biweekly. Yes. And then we went weekly with the gaming. Okay. And we probably will go weekly with the anime at some point. We haven't yet, though. Yes, so hopefully we get some of those folks on as well, livein' up the show a little bit. But, uh, yeah, check out all that stuff. Some good, good stuff, you know. We have our opinions on this show, and they have their opinions, and the more the merrier, and the whole podcast fandom community. Um, yeah, so that was episode 30, so this is episode 35. Check back again next week for all the latest news and all that good jazz, and I honestly have no clue what the fuck we're going to review next week. But, yes. So until then, this is Jullicoon. And then-- No, I'm Pat. I'm Pat. I'm Pat. Have a good week, and enjoy the anime. Night.
The show started off with even more problems! damn you skype but they were soon resolved. Patz and Jellokun discussed various anime news topics of the week. The big one being NEW HARUHI! We reviewed REC and gave our DVD picks of the week Fist of the North Star the move.
