They actually did sell some legit stuff, to be honest. But they sold a ton of bootleg stuff next to all the legit stuff. That'd be pissed off if I was buying from them. They're like, what the fuck? This is an eBay? It's a little-- it's like, yeah, it's like buying it on eBay. It might look legit, but you don't have any way to know. Well, fuck yeah, I bought one thing off of eBay. I got-- I was like, oh, this is badass. And then I popped in my DVD plan. I'm like, why is it Korean subtitles? Why are the discs gold on the back? Exactly. I was like, god, but it looks fucking perfect. It's kind of nice. But yeah, I know what's a-- I know they've gone down. Or discountanimadvd websites down now. I'm pretty sure, yeah. Well, let's see. When you're getting-- you know, you're getting-- I'm pretty sure they put the big dent on your business. And I know I saw one post on the AOD forums of a guy. discountanimadvd had this nice business practice of charging you for everything right away. Oh, what the fuck? So some people-- God, screw me. --have ordered stuff and then right when they got shut down and just lost their money. Oh, what the fuck? What you need to do is call your credit card company and tell me to charge back. Yeah. But-- But still, why? It gets about time someone went after these fuckers. Well, that's true. They've been sitting around for years doing this. So it's not-- well, why now, I wonder. What was it that broke the camel's back? I don't know. They just got bored and you don't fuck them. The lawyers need something to do. Oh, here's a DVD site. OK, good. I think they were given plenty of time to the way prices are now. Could have easily gone legit if they wanted to. The lawsuit says that they send a season to sis letter. No, ma'am. And they'll be able to respond or to seize the advertising or distribution of the works. Yeah, basically. So all four of the sites that got shut down owned by the same guy. Yeah, they all got their ass shut down and they gone now. Wonder how much the guy made. I'm sure he's made plenty of money. Phonomation, until they say they had a good leading profit, just recently, they came out with their quarterly results. And a var did. A company that, though. It was funimation. Infinimation basically helped push Navarre into the green from what it sounds like. They're making a killing off of all these Jennion titles. The Jennion titles, and then all their 80V shit's probably going to be making a bunch of money soon, too. They're redoing-- like I got the box set of Giver, which is one of the titles they lost, that 80V lost. And it's got all the 80V materials on it. It's got the dub and everything. But they redid the disks. Oh, OK. Anyway, that funimation likes to do it, where it's four disks for 26 episodes, and then a fifth disk with the extras on it. So they just re-authored. That's nice. Yeah, they re-authored them with six or seven episodes on a disk. It was pretty funny, though, seeing-- I was watching the Karen DVD last month, and coming from Jennion, hell girl, coming soon. December, October of '07, or you know what I mean. It's kind of crazy to see all that stuff. Those old disks. With the old stuff, it was all on it. Just old stuff that was sitting in the warehouse. They just shipped back out, like with that. But yeah, I'm happy. There's tons of shit I bought. Oh, hell yeah, I mean-- I got the Shauna Box set, and I've gotten the Zero No Succima Box set, both of which sitting over there. And I see, did you see that tweet I made? I think you did. That the Zero No Succima Box set under genre was Sundair. Oh, I saw that. As the genre. It says comedy and Sundair. Where? On the back of the disks. On the back of the cases. It says comedy, and Sundair. Yeah, on all the disks in at the bottom of the set, it says it. It's a genre now, eh? Apparently, yes. It's not a character to write any more to genre. Incidentally, the Shauna sets do not say that. And the Shauna set does not say that, but I'm guessing-- Why the hell not? No, no, Shauna came out first. So it's older. I'm guessing that's why. But now it's a genre, so it's free for way too much crap to come out, I guess, is the best way to put it. Well, yeah, as long as I get more Shauna and Zero No Succima, I'll be happy. Next week, there are 17 DVDs coming out. The week after that, there's even more. And the week after that, there's just as much. Yeah, for the nation's really so much. There is so much coming out. There's a lot I want to. So I know. Darker than Black is coming out. No, I'm not getting that. I'm looking girl in Lagoon. I'm going to get Guren. I'm not going to get darker than Black. Darker than Black, I'm going to wait. It's probably going to come out in Blu-ray in like a year, and I'm going to wait for it to come out on Blu-ray. You know you're cave. No, I won't. Look him on with a complete box set, and you're like, oh, God. I didn't cave on Samurai 7, and that's coming out on Blu-ray in a very soon. So I'm going to get that on Blu-ray. The fourth is strong with this one. Which I'm looking forward to. All right. It has some Blu-ray, man. Well, already then. Blu-ray. The anime's going to be what expands my Blu-ray collection quite a bit, hasn't really yet. But I've only got two Blu-ray discs at the moment. I've got 300 and Shinobi from Funimation. I'm really wondering if the Blu-ray is going to finally take off this next year. I mean, I've been looking over the Black Friday deals. You can get Blu-ray players now for $77. You know, they're dropping in price for the Black-- Still say if you want a Blu-ray player, you buy a PS3. Well, yeah. But not everybody wants a gaming system. I don't think PS3 necessarily needs to be bought to play games, though. No, I understand. I think it's a great media center. That's true, too. I mean, I picked up my freaking NAS drive and automatically mapped everything. When I buddy brought his over, I was like, huh. Xbox doesn't fucking do that. Xbox, you got to fucking have a proprietary software and tell it to do it. Xbox is gay. Yes, hey, not for gaming, it isn't. But you know, I don't know. Maybe we'll start seeing a shift in the Blu-ray for more anime. Oh, absolutely. A lot of it's now being done. Anime is the one that animates. The problem with anime is I don't know how there's a fear in the Japanese companies of reverse importation of Japanese people buying the cheaper American discs. Oh, well, Jesus Christ. We're a few more. We have a-- No, Blu-ray isn't region free. America and Japan are in the same region. Oh, really? Yes. Oh, but still, we're in a global economy. Come on. Yeah, well, still, you buy two episodes on Blu-ray there for a lot more than you're going to buy for here. And that's-- I mean, don't get me wrong. It's probably a moot point because it's not exactly hard to get around region and coding on DVDs. Exactly. But stuff starting to come. Samurai 7 is coming out on Blu-ray. Bandai's got some stuff coming out on Blu-ray. Shiguru from Funimation is coming out on Blu-ray. Hopefully, ADV in the future will announce some Blu-ray stuff, probably something like clarinet on Blu-ray. Oh, that'd be badass. I know I saw-- what is it? Die Buster versus-- Gun Buster versus Die Buster? Yeah, that's on the band. The Gody movie. Yeah, there's some of that stuff coming out. That would be cool to see Clannad and the shows that were originally done in HD 720 be brought over in that quality. Personally, I have not seen a Blu-ray anime. I haven't seen a true HD quality. Like, so to me, I'm very skeptical. If you see something that was done in HD on Blu-ray in the anime, I can understand where you get that feeling. But you will see the difference. I'm guessing, because I watched, like recently, I got HD cable, and I watched, like, the Simpsons. Oh, well. No, no, I'm just saying, for an example. I saw the Simpsons on basic. Oh, no, I know. The Simpsons even animated in HD now? No, it's still on full screen. But I mean, even seeing the HD versus the standard definition version, I could see that the briders were a lot color. Things were more defined. It wasn't blocky or anything like that. Something I guess I can kind of guess. What I can kind of guess, you know, seeing an anime in HD, or anything, I guess it could say. The quality. And download an HD episode. Yeah, I could. I precked it, and stuff. It's on it. It's on it, HD. It's like, I watch the "Forget and Gundam" episode every week. Those are HD. Oh, cool. I'll check it out here tonight then. There's plenty of blue right here, because I want that around Japan, and then I don't have-- I would love to do R2, but it's not sobbed. Any of those-- that shit that Bandai has coming out, or the Hanamise stuff, like the Gunbuster versus Diebuster, or the Freedom, that has English dub, Japanese-- I can't remember if it has a French dub or just subs. But they're the identi-- the discs coming out here are the exact same discs coming out there. And the price is the other thing, too? No. Price is cheaper here. It's cheaper here, and that's where that whole reverse importation thing. Yeah, but I mean, like-- Comes in. But I don't know, like, yeah, but what about, like, the dilution of the dollar, and I don't know, whatever. That's another problem, isn't it? Yeah. I'm just expensive. Yeah. I don't see myself actually watching anything else fans sub to some this season Well, I'm gonna get the clannad after story just cuz I mean I finished clannad recently, but I just haven't had any attention to watching it So, I don't know we're not in touch. I mean, I'll get I'll get to that someday Yeah odds are for me it might end up being and won't happen until like the DVDs come out that I watch it But it's like it's like I'm keeping up with Gundam That's because it's Gundam and that's like it at this because I just I don't know I have a hard time keeping up with fans up stuff anymore It's don't it's like it's there used to be I come I'd be feverishly keeping an eye on The release is waiting for something waiting for the new shit to come out dying to watch it. I don't get that anymore It's I'd rather watch my DVDs or something like that. I Think so for me that I just don't want to fucking read. No new fans in you know like we're you know, they can just flip on the TV watch something in English No, and I'm gonna tell you why because most not I'm gonna say 90% of the stuff That's coming sub only is very very niche stuff Like aria is coming sub only That would not appeal to the man. It's exactly getting you fans. These are not shows that would air on tv and Don't get me wrong. I will say there are probably some fans who will not buy these shows because they're sub only I know they exist But I understand where the logic in that comes in aria is a show that is it guaranteed sell for A few thousand people maybe Like I see your eye. Funimation has a policy of not releasing sub-only discs Or in that alone is Funimation just doesn't do it. It's like one of their stances. They just don't at this point at least I wouldn't I wouldn't I wouldn't bet that they wouldn't change that stance Because I mean I it was like double fucking negative, but um Well, you know, I don't know. It's just that's where I know I and I'm pretty sure like nanoha and stuff That stuff was finished in production a long time ago, but no forever, but yeah But I mean like I was just thinking like I was looking over the DVD from for the until the next year It was like parts even one part one box that box. Well, actually I'm sure like That's the other thing I wanted to say was there's there's that part logic coming I'm sure there's more people that watch subs online without paying for it than the people that buy it I mean I know of all the people that I know personally that watch anime only maybe a couple own anime DVDs so I don't think It's too much of a problem that they release So lonely Sub-only yeah, I can see where that logic comes in And I mean I'm not complaining. I it's not going to stop me. I I watch 90 percent of my stuff 70 percent of my stuff sub And I watch some stuff dubbed I watch dub it possible I would rather sit back on my coach and relax Yeah, well, you got bad eyes. That's true. Yeah. I mean, yeah, I'm legally blunt But I mean still I don't know japanese you still have to read it. He had to sit there and read What's going on? I'd rather just relax with a ball pop on and be like, hey, I've gotten so used to it now that it's not even a thing for me Yeah, I hear you it's like hell. I I'm more annoyed by fan subs than I am by Sub dvd sub dvd. It's just standard block subs Fan subs get too distracting Yeah, they like to do as many flashy effects as possible and it starts to piss me off That's another discussion now. And I think pat got a good good his comments in Like I just want to think like are we early is the anime industry and that's the alienating Newcomers at all because I mean they're doing it to keep their profits up and you know the hardcore Fans right now are saying hey, we get everything a month after japan. This is great Well, look you don't see you see the bigger titles like karate and Death no, yeah, just know they're all dubbed So they're gonna bring in the fans and i'm sure They'll go on this day from the other stuff even if yeah They start buying dub dvd's and whatnot. I'm sure a lot a huge chunk of them to still watch Sub shows online So I don't think they'll mind too much.
