we like best knowing me Pat's over power mean say anime robot or something we also bring you the latest news our DVD picks for the week and everything else so yeah ready yeah how about that all exciting oh yeah full of enthusiasm yeah it's 86 degrees in my home in my house right now and yeah it's super wacky fun good time for all winter oh yeah well I've been trying to lose some weight maybe I can start running in place while recording and I don't know do a couple pounds I walk in circles a lot of the time it's just one of those things I think better when I'm moving there you go it doesn't exactly hell with math but yeah at least you can do better this need to do math better than me so there you go I can do the basic basic stuff anything beyond that yeah I need a calculator there's a one is calculus that we're gonna come come handy in your day-to-day life probably never I'm still have to fucking take it so if you're a calculus teacher yeah I know you want to call it off make sure I bring some Oreos though they were double stuff that's a good stuff right there have you tried the what were those big ones they call them stoner food it was like the puffed oh those are gross are they yeah they they have this weird taste to them I don't like them they were like the ultimate stoner snack hey poofy all Oreos suck oh what oh that is disgusting I'm cutting you off right now all right wait you're taking an ax next year I mean yes you are correct Oreos are bad we're good man no I don't like I'm like the cream how do you not like the cream I mean I could I could understand not like in the cookie but you can not like he's not freaking American that is why only Americans do it hey it's just easy it's a good scapegoat after you get me wrong Oreos are not three nine eleven everything not American is bad so it's just a scapegoat for everything Katrina terrorism not Americanism now this current hurricane because not from America it's bad you not liking Oreos not American yeah don't get me wrong Oreos aren't that great but you can't not like them no there's a good to them I can't eat a ton of them at once but I'd like six and I was more than enough I was like all right I'm done with Oreos at that point you know it's better are the EL fudge keyboard cookies the ones with the hole in the middle and the chocolate on the bottom yeah those suck too well all that is it I just don't like cookies unless unless it's like chocolate you're like just like actual cookies I buy a chocolate chip oh okay no more raisins good I like some more reason coming up sounds so gross yeah if I start coughing unexpectedly to don't worry it's cool I've been doing it too but yeah no I've been doing too much I did our finally got our fantasy draft done and got our fantasy football stuff all set up for this coming week so can't wait for that last exactly football season's back in swing exactly football fans football I can't either but I'm in four fantasy football league right now just picking random people no we're starting running back we'll have a basic idea and then I don't really follow it though I just use the rankings from like various websites yeah started running back Ricky Williams starting QB Sean Hill you know those are people probably dad fortune one of people who watch football will understand that joke apparently nobody listens this pot apparently that was funny so they both don't I mean Sean Hill's a backup QB like third string and Ricky Williams has been busted for pot so many times like he's been reinstating the league like six times okay and he like they'll be like he's gonna play this year oh god God smoking weed again he's gone that's something or knowing I like you'll just pick a vick from the slammer anyway let's get ready for some news get some news is is okay okay this week in anime news brought to you by anime news network the thing that people talk about on a day-to-day basis stuff that quote-unquote happened or is going to happen or may happen or you know zesty onion rings so first up we got minimum keys third season has been greenlit and I thought of Pat's immediately when I saw this I see storms actually a bigger fan of Minami K than I am I just completely butcher the name so it's Minami K okay chalked it up to another word I've butchered podcast it's cool but he actually cares about that I don't I don't really care anymore yeah I haven't even like this show I haven't been watching fortunately hey I all I know is all you're thinking is you just get more Mako so that's not talking about it yeah I'm just saying the evidence it's crazy though dirty with liking trap no there isn't except for mako I don't know mako kind of weirds me out so I don't know why what about him wins you out I don't know probably because I don't know because I don't really I don't know he doesn't really look like a girl to me really just dressed like one that's what it is barely so I don't know yeah they're an elementary school based on painting I'll never mind to me and actually to pin I never watched the second season cuz I couldn't get past the character design changes it sucks it sucks so to me it all depends on another one it was popular to me it all depends on who's animating the third season I don't think it's a studio that did the first season does it and I'll definitely watch it if it's the other one probably not for me yeah well like I don't know some I saw DB sales of it in Japan and the first season volumes how sold like 10,000 each and then the second season volume was sold like 5,000 each oh Saki Raba there's a studio doing it all right I think that's the name of yeah yeah I'm more interested in the kyu no-go-no-neum or kyo no-go-no-neum anime that's starting in the fall wouldn't that I'm more that um depending on how they handle it I think be pretty cool just because the o the OVA's were quite funny but at the same time the OVA covered the entire manga which is only one volume long so I'm not darn the anime is gonna be all original stuff it depends on how well they do it oh so wait there's only like one volume yeah I'm pretty sure the manga's only one volume and it was and the OVA was four episodes and it covered everything in that volume so there still is a chance for traps to be in it I guess I'm excited also also I want to add something you know the trap thing I get over you're gonna end to the fact that they're elementary school kids hey if you live in Japan anything can happen yeah according to anime like I've said in the past if you're fucking seven you can still live on your own and have a job they know about being financially sound because yeah hey it's Japan how is our plentiful and slower jobs no okay and you bend people's parents die unexpectedly all the time and I don't traffic accidents but seriously who the hell in Japan drives people yeah rich people people no I know there you know you know like that that Toyota company that people are talking about all the time now yeah that new up and coming yeah about something about going green I don't know what you're talking why it's a freaking hippie thing nor that Volkswagen yeah out because they can't make enough profit here anymore because because of the euro against the dollar well yeah it's terrible I know our company just got sold who actually is a European company and we got sold for eight hundred fifty six million euros well because our currency is so bad it's double it turned out you need flipped at USD it was one point six billion yeah so yeah I mean like that's how it's been over two years though man yeah and like during our meetings it'd be like oh we're doing good if you look at in the European light but if you flip over to USD we're doing terrible it's like oh okay it doesn't make any sense actually but no I know it's crazy yeah exactly I know the cars don't be talking smack about Volkswagen okay so it's Labor Day today how come every damn you know if car companies are so quote unquote successful which are not anymore you see a fucking like sale like it rained yesterday come by a new car um let's put it this way um you know how furniture stores always have a sale it's the same I know I know anyway next story yeah moving on what's what also we're talking about huh yeah full mental alchemist sequel or something cool whatever sequel something whatever new TV show of some sort yeah with how many episodes was quarter and quote season one or the first series was going to go on for ever series was 51 yeah and then the movie and which all had a very very solid into it I hated the ending of the movie personally I only watched a full mental alchemist on Adult Swim I liked the end of the TV series for the most part I personally thought of cook if it was just spoiler warning I guess if it was I honestly think it would have been better if Alphonse was the one that died for say instead of Ed but um oh what the hell thanks a lot I assumed you'd see you said you watch the TV series I never finished the damn show it I really don't care because I never got into it like I don't know why but that's just something that I always that was the one thing about it that always kind of bugged me was that Ed put everything on him and then it had nothing else mattered you know what I mean but besides that I'm really curious about where they're gonna go with this it would be cool if they I'm like just picked it up did something weird to pick up where they bridged where they split off from the manga in animated the next section of the manga story because the manga is still going and it and yeah they made up their own ending to it to the anime no that's kind of weak look at half of the Gance yeah but yeah but yeah but bones does a good job is it actually good oh okay this is talking about how it was a good ending for the most part maybe I'm busy reading something that's to do with us later probably not oh yeah fancy football though but yeah well maybe they'll bring Ed back you know it feels like anything in the anime you're clapping hands and well the movie takes place after the end of the anime obviously some more stuff happens in the movie I'm not gonna oh so it's gonna be like a what do you call in the movie for the most part had a very very solid this is over feel to it I mean it left it open in a sense but it not really I guess got you got you yeah bones if anyone could do something like that it's probably them they're one of the studios actually I actually think highly of in the story department for the most part so yeah shit yes anime film screening series to launch in the USA you know and you know the only place for doing this too is in California the University of California Berkeley is showing the showing on grave of the firefly ice never even heard of it oh it's a classic it's from Studio Ghibli and it's on the time bomb yeah it's about kids oh that's where I've heard about yes it's about kids during World War II after one of the bombs yes I yeah I've heard about I've heard about I've heard about I've heard among them that's where I've heard it yeah they talk about a kid who goes through the yeah they talk about them going through the bomb of the World War II when everything else growing up with all that garbage you know that junk yeah it's really sad and yeah they're depressing and yeah and cool and they're also showing Tekken Creed course who isn't showing Tekken Creed Kekon King Creed take on whatever I think that sounds pronounced Tekon King Creed yeah you're right yeah that's about it the a California being innovative with your anime showing that stuff that it's like they only do that kind of shit in California in New York New York exactly I don't live close enough yeah screw you what Des Moines Iowa I was it is the enemy about corn we don't want it whatever corn yeah take an extra bad what's the next story oh Miyazaki oh me what what about Miyazaki I don't know what what everyone kind of assumed that after Pono he was done and he's saying that he's planning to have another movie out in something like three years I think he said no this doesn't take approximately three years to take care of and do we're just gonna put him at over 70 by the time it comes out maybe this would be his last work well that's why everyone thought Pono on on the cliff was gonna be his last work because he's so yeah I wouldn't say anything the last work with an animator especially of Miyazaki's caliber you know he could frickin be on his death by doing animating something they still do all their shit hand are on so that's the way it should be honestly it now looks like they can turn on an anime and they're basement in the night still takes plenty of work but oh no I know this is a special this is something special about watching from the hand-drawn compared to CG'd and computer'd ate it and all that jazz in my opinion well yeah but still but yeah I know you know why I do it well you know it's the same thing you know there's a reason why you have candles for everything nobody electricity there's a reason that Disney's trying to get back into the animation so yeah that's not very interested me anyway um take your let's talk about 801 yeah all right um I thought this was funny as shit man Kyoto animation and or they announcing the manga what is all right pronounce it for me I see so I get it right again and it's like cuz it's a play on yes whatever then I guess that's the right phrase for it because it's spelled 801 yeah it is and all right um what was I gonna say they'd announced it yeah they'd announced it for production at Kyoto animation and then a week later they come in they go out and announce that the the production's been scrapped which I personally I'm kind of happy about because all that means is that there's less stuff out there to get in the way of how are we airing in the spring that could be like the only show everyone's gonna be like I give up number one show ever we're just not releasing anything god knows I'm sure they're just I'm sure there's a part of them are kind of afraid to release it because of it's gotten too much hype at this point gotcha but I don't know you want to take his last story I know you like this one I don't know if I like this one to be honest apparently a guy named Mack McCowski has been signed on to direct the live-action Voltron film and he doesn't exactly have many um directing credits right now he's directing he directed some like episodes of queer eye for the straight guy and then how do you direct that show to reality it's a you still direct you direct anything and um damn he directed something else I can't remember what yeah that's it directed some episodes of that and shoot spacing out again sorry he apparently was responsible for production of the today's show for the Asian market and so I don't know he's and he's supposedly also working on a movie adaptation of the TV show I want to know what Asian Al Roker looks like like I was saying yeah he supposedly he's working on a movie adept he's gonna direct a movie based on kung-fu - what's going on all right that could be interesting here the excitement and bad to wife oh no if you could do a great job you never know damn I can't even remember his name off the top of my head what's his name was a relatively unknown director before he directed 300 damn what's his name yeah that's it yeah yep he only had one credit to his name before that and that was on you know all he needed one more credit don't know the dad dude no the watchman that's his big one he's basically like God comic book fans and movies now because he did 300 well and he's gonna do watchman well well what do you guys think about this whole Hollywood grab anime what you can and make a movie kind of spiel I mean there hasn't been many releases yet but yeah I think that's something right there and more nothing's been released yet so you can't really form the opinion on it yet once I don't know once the first trailer for Dragon Ball Z for Dragon Ball hits in front of Max Payne in October to where when it where it's supposedly gonna be it's puzzling on me in front of that which I want to see but besides that the trailer was kind of cool with the Miller Manson song but I don't know Mark Wobber gets asked so that's enough to make me want to see action movies with him are awesome but besides gotcha he also sung the touch you know that was something anyway moving on oh haha it's a song from Trent the transformers movie but anyway what was I gonna say it's not yeah it's something you can't really but you can't even form an opinion based on Dragon Ball because that's just you know ridiculous to begin with but I'm sick of seeing is like dig marking on oh my god a new screenshot Goku everyone I dig just marking out oh I want to see when it's done not I don't know I think it's guaranteed to be something very interesting that's I'm gonna see it no matter what I'll tell you that I'll see it too just to see how it is I did like speed racer I didn't see speed racer because it it looked like it would give me a headache so I didn't bother I think some people got cuz cuz cuz it's a color it's like maybe a sight seizure and there's like the way it's presented it's pretty like motion sickness yeah oh yeah they're running in tubes with bright light color I'll probably rent it or something and seek out you can rent it I think it's out yet oh I mean you can borrow it off the internet it's not renting you know it's not actually doing it's making another cop exactly oh damn it's hot um okay well I don't know there's some not watching Dragon Ball could never win a Dragon Ball fan not watching speed racer cuz they don't have the monkey and speed rate and speed rates because I don't care they do they do oh I'm watching it now but I like there's some things that could be done really well and there's some things that couldn't it's really like they want to do ghosts in the shell I think it would be cooler if they did like that would be cool it honestly I'm not I think it would be actually fit better if they did something like stand alone complex rather than the movie original rather than something based on the original ghost in the shell that's just me I don't know gotcha no not really the biggest fan of the original movie but that's really more but I haven't seen it in so long I can't really my whole thing is I just don't hope I go out glitzy and glammy with over over the top CGI on any of these and well it all depends on what it is you can't that's too broad but like if it's something based on it's who it's like Voltron or something they're gonna go you know transformer style with it or that I just want to make American eyes and plagiarize it and make it American like and then like everyone who sees it goes oh well hey that's what it's all about they're fighting in New York not in Hong Kong or they're not in Tokyo I don't know it's like the concept I'd heard for Voltron sounded cool but yeah sometimes I'll give you that one thing I'd like is more people there's something that Michael Bay needs to do he'll know he never will but it's just some wide angle shots once in a while you know because I don't if you've seen the Transformers movie you get maybe one real shot of the robots the entire movie everything else is moving so fast you have no clue what's going on the most part but tell Michael Bay does things it was also done as a technique to save money on special effects but just you know wide angle I have to time you're looking at like their knee or something and because of the way it's zipping around it's another week and more DVDs are being released what should you get it's time for the wheelie DVD this actually there's actually a lot of DVDs coming out this week and I don't know if you notice yeah a lot of re-releases a lot of releases of Jenny and stuff yeah definitely yay it's starting like um what is it they got on the night on the second they've got a decent amount we've got um Kyocar Amaho I think I pronounce that right and um what's that other one damn uh yeah yeah Karen that's coming out which I I'll pick up eventually I'm waiting for a box set for that because I'd rather finish the manga before I watch the anime even though I know that they're Karen coming out again it's like wow just missed that what that oh sorry no I'm sorry I heard something just crash and yeah okay my bad sorry and then some actual decent new stuff there's the the final chunk of the sub to um Karen Logan comes out this month this on Tuesday that last batch if you're buying the sub DVDs of that then Galaxy Angel X you know because they got a finish that release a Galaxy Angel sometime oh in Lucky Star 3 exactly that's what I'm picking this week Lucky Star 3 now what kind of shirt does that come with that one comes with it's playing no it's not gonna be winter no it's not um damn which one is it I can't remember now just some ugly ass shit that you'll never wear yeah well now I'm gonna have a collection of ugly ass shit that I'll never wear what I'll have putting on let's save that for two minutes what would you pick for your DVD pick I already told you like you sorry I'm sorry okay so we're on agreement yeah like you saw on three okay now we'll jump into this so a little background there's been metering more and more and metering talk and the internet scene of the of the US and since May DSA reports had inklings from internal memos talking about a 250 gigabyte cap from Comcast the US the largest US ISP next to AOL okay broadband the large broadband ISP the largest cable company in the country so yeah basically and the last week DSO reports announced that Comcast is officially starting to roll out 250 gigabytes and October yeah October 1st it goes live they haven't talked about any definite over charges I honestly think for the first maybe two months maybe January 1st I'll start you know charging people yeah from what I've heard it's like the first one you get like a warning and then like the second time they give you a hard time about it well yeah so far realistically for me right now I don't see myself hitting that anytime soon I understand there are people out there who think they might or who realistically could hit that kind of cap but that's a lot to me right now yeah I gotta say I mean time why I've watched this kind of grow and a lot of other ISPs have slower caps don't they time Warner what was it time Warner five gigabytes five gigabytes yeah yes oh sorry 40 oh sorry Roadrunner 40 gigabytes charters five gigabytes so I gotta say we're damn lucky you know Comcast yeah I gotta admit to the one thing they have to do pretty it's pretty Jim's talking to a friend of mine the one it's not well you can't call a generous because it was technically unlimited before even though it wasn't well no no no no no no no no I hate that argument you can't call it you can call it generous you can call it much better than everyone else you can't call it generous because by definition they had unlimited before yes years ago no ever since they got ever since they got punked out on that if they got punked out on it last yes the day they got punked out on it the same day they announced the cap no no no no yes not been using a limited for years and they're marketing yeah because for the last two years they've been in loss they've had lawsuits and they lost one the same they lost the only one that mattered they lost the lawsuit the same damn day they announced the official cap so no yes no yes they did they have not used unlimited in their market in years I don't know what the fuck does that have to do with what I'm saying because I mean it's like everyone falls back to Oh Comcast use the unlimited marketing and I know when did I say anything about marketing though I'm saying because that's what everyone falls back to by definition of their service it was unlimited but regardless of what the friggin ads on TV say there was no stated cap it was unlimited true that's that's kind of yeah I see your that's my point there was an invisible wall yeah which I find which from what I've heard was about 250 but that's the thing though I've gone above that several times it could have been high growing now but no yeah it's really goofy between as low as 90 as high as 400 and really depends on how much you're doing it was when they cared before and what was I gonna say damn I had a good point in my head about it but I can't remember what we got into that conversation and I lost it well okay well you're look what you think about that I got to say the one thing I do not like is Comcast is not providing a tool that's what I was gonna mention to say user X you're using 85 gigabytes so far all they have all they've got to do is you know how you have a cell phone you log on to like Verizon's website it tells you how many minutes you've used on their website right there that's all they've got to do is provide something like that and they will because if they don't and people start getting in trouble over it their ass will be sued so bad for not providing the information to people that's actually what would come down in that exactly they can't because they can't charge you for going over something when they don't tell you I was listening to quit and they were talking about it was basically the same as one of them one of the guys on there used an analogy that you stick you go to the gas station you stick the pump in you pump the gas and it just you stop and they're like all right that'll be 50 bucks and they don't tell you how much how much gas you use mm-hmm it's the equivalent to that they have to tell you or they'll be soon pretty damn fast I'm pretty sure they'll come out with something here in the next couple weeks yeah probably I'd almost guarantee it well don't come out with something by the time why no DSA or ask Comcast and they basically said go elsewhere oh well it's up to the customer to monitor now here's what it pisses me off I have an in-house media server I get a TV show I store our podcast stuff on it I do whatever you know I have do you meter do you meter Matt watches my in-and-out traffic but now because I only have one Nick card it also if I want to push something up to my server it counts after skewed exactly so I only did 260 gigabytes last month but I can't tell you how much of that was actual when traffic and I mean there's stuff out there there's the links is routers that are hackable with the terminal firmware and DDWRT but I'm not gonna expect my mom to freaking yeah hack her router which is which is why they'll have a tool online I hope so because they will I had to go on exchange I had to go buy a new router I had a I had a watch guard firewall they're not cheap while I upgrade to the 50 mega service here in the Twin Cities my router could no longer even go above 35 megabits I had to go and buy a com care our links this router that's not hackable I would love to hack my modem to get my actual results but it's gonna cost too much money to get something so yeah I damn well hope Comcast was that was something they will I guarantee it just because just because the nature of giant corporations not liking lawsuits they'll do it so but you know I'm not gonna buy a fucking I'm not gonna buy a Cisco router just because I want to be able to monitor my traffic through SNMP using cacti or MRGT I know the thing that really bugs me I have not heard as an argument why now when bandwidth is so cheap I mean these ISPs make it sound like bandwidth is a rising commodity it isn't well it's just something that they've cared about it's just something that's kind of turned into this issue why they didn't want to wow you know what it sounds like it's more of a strategic move they're establishing something now well you won't be able to get things ready later or when things expand because this was this was also from Twitter I really liked this point and it was that they establish a cap of what's it on 250 a month and they can only cable only get so fast before they have to you know the speed won't go any higher no no no let me finish my state okay and then okay cable only gets so fast for them realistically they can keep upgrading the speed it's not going to go too much you know it's not going to just keep it'll you know there will be a bottleneck to it eventually you know they can to fight off the concept of say fiber which is fat faster they can say all right now for the same amount of money their new argument me you get 500 instead of 250 or something like that see I don't buy that with yeah but yeah yeah okay here's why I'm not trying to like piss all over what you have to say but I mean they have the current newest standard is Docs 3.0 by itself that can produce deliver 300 and megabits 380 megabits I'm not much let me grab the exact now I don't want to it's not that important it really isn't well either way Docs is three does channel bonding something that Docs is two oh dozen Docs is 1.1 that's currently rolled on Comcast doesn't do Docs is 3.0 came theoretically get you about 300 megabits down and 128 up and like I'm I'm fortunate the Twin Cities was selected as a quote-unquote Docs is 3-0 rollout first rollout company or excuse me the first rollout market right now we're running pre-docs is 3.0 we're running 2.0 actually and I mean everything's getting faster and what just pisses me off is your argument is well they're just gonna get faster there's gonna be a bottleneck now we can provide you more why wasn't it last year why wasn't the year before but cuz things happen when they have it yeah you're argument can't be why didn't they do it sooner because they're just they just they're doing it now because they've seen how well Canada and the UK and everybody else but the US how these ISPs are making money hand-over-foot why isn't Verizon doing this because they are rising well oh I is in will there's no doubt that Verizon will it's just a matter of time and then you can say agreed because what it is these ISPs don't want to pay to get the capacity they want to focus on HD so let's just screw our internet customers I disagree I think this is all pretty much completely but I want to say though as I damn hope I get more than 250 gigs a month I'm paying a premium price for their fastest speeds I want nothing I don't want you I want 500 gigs or a terabyte or whatever and all right and the business I let you know the business class customers are not affected by this well that's no shock at all and that's the people who have to use even more well they can't well I'm not even gonna get into that but um I kind of killed I see Storm he's probably dead now he's doing his homework he stopped caring see so much that he's not even responding to us talking about him now whatever I'm not a cast customer so oh fuck you then but no I think it's a step in the wrong direction why you know yeah because you know just more and more and
