because I know if you've seen them both you know what the fuck's gonna happen yeah but I do have good news for the once you with the you know it's strange how many have we done like for long lost anime segments so far and it's always been you and I'm the one that's been a lot watching anime for quite a bit longer yeah no shit it's like I don't know why that how that happened it just did I finally shut out of my ass for the long loss like the oldest anime I think I've seen is marmalade boy and that was 1988 I think oh really well I let's see on the oh no it was early 90s I think okay the luriest one I think I think I think it's either astral boy but those have been like spreck episodes on cartoon network that doesn't count yeah so I would just say the oldest one I'm watching right now is run my one half but that's the that's the redone but I guess that's a redone episode still the old animation yeah but I guess all this thing for me would be mobile so Gundam so 1933 1979 Wow really your anniversary next year Wow yeah we should kiss that statue man yeah about down to it oh yeah anyway well as we kind of got off track the point is that past here finally has a long lost anime segment that he's going to share with everybody what does that anime you're you're gracing us with this week I'm gonna talk about um generator gall which I just rewatched a month or so ago so it's still fresh in my head for the most part yeah you got a good memory boy I know I'm incredible we also got news we got DVD pics we got a DVD pics all kinds of good shit here's no it's incredible straight there for direct updates when the new episodes are out and so many new show notes and basically back basically on it's gonna be an archive of information for us and also launch forums yeah forums dot bonsai beat calm go ahead and register we have left the improvements comments part of the forum available for non-register users to comment on for the time being I'm gonna hope there's enough people out there to behave and not spam us and shit like that I want to try to keep you know I don't want to make people register just to yell at us and say hey you guys sucker hey I got a good idea you know if it's a one-time thing or whatever I hope you'd register and be part of the community but you know but yeah that's what's going on we've worked hard to get everything kind of up and running you know we had we've kind of tossed ideas back and forth had a couple different things kind of up and sites up and running and we just chose a basic website design because we're a podcast we're not and you know do you still go to the a bonsai dot anime blogger dot net for the blog yep for the blog yep and the blogging stuff from us on occasion yeah I've kind of quit writing due to I've kind of quit writing due to just time constraints but I post on there every now and then I think once I think what's a good show that I get really interested in watching I'll definitely start writing again but since school days there's been nothing like they've been hooked on yeah oh well and with that oh yeah and yeah so check that out bonsai beat calm and forums dot bonsai beat calm and then of course the blog again and a bonsai dot anime blogger dot net whoa I'm good at that I don't know only 30 only took us 13 episodes yeah we should we should have we should just edit and like the very first very first episode we're like but a bonsai or other or other I think it's some bloggers site okay bye but yeah so that's what we have on tap this week yeah I know it's pretty darn exciting indeed well I know yeah as you see we're kind of being kind of crazy tonight yeah a little spacey you know just having a little fun indeed I mean I'll be honest I've been why I've been listening to a lot of different podcasts getting ideas I kind of got off of them but I got to still say I love an iTunes man I kind of pissed off like I didn't bother doing it before like it's nice I like woke up on like Wednesday grab my iPod off the charger and frickin the new tweet yeah a couple of new podcasts the one up show all that stuff we're all brand new the only I gotta say I got a bitch about why the fuck does it delete the previous episode like I had when you sync it that's the way the podcasts are set up I think you can change it in the settings but when you sync the iPod it takes the completed episode that you finish listening to it takes those off okay I wasn't finished listening to I listened to major Nelson yeah the Xbox podcast yeah and I still had finished it and I turned it off you know in the middle of the episode and I go look up the next morning it's missing I'm like oh motherfucker see they updated it because it shouldn't I don't know but usually with mine I remember it leaves incomplete ones on there well yeah there were blue dots next to them yeah I don't know either way well people can bitch it doesn't say hey you dumbass with iTunes well we should do the news we don't have too much to talk about but a lot did perhaps okay okay this week in anime news brought to you by anime news network yeah there was certainly stuff all right I think I'm gonna kick it off and go ahead basically last week we talked about Funimation they had their their crazy five licenses thing where they announced five new licenses during the week and then they had a panel at Anime Central that Saturday afterward and they announced they essentially announced two more licenses and basically what they've come and announced now is Romeo X Juliet from you donzo which is 24 episode sort of kind of it's based on Romeo and Juliet but it is very different in terms of where it actually goes and that's gonna be coming out in spring '09 and they're doing that in box sets - that's gonna be - half-season sets like everything else now which I'm loving that bit Funimation has gotten into this thing now where they're releasing box sets of everything and then the second one was and this one they actually announced on the Internet they didn't announce it at the con and that was De Grey man which is a long-running show in anime I haven't watched it yet I've been meaning to but basically what's going on with this one is they made a point of stating that they only have the first 51 episodes of the show license so far it's probably mean so they're doing they're gonna be doing it um they're probably gonna try and get it on TV and they haven't said if they're in which is gonna come out sometime in '09 but they haven't said if they're going to be doing um box set releases for it or not they've said it pretty much specifically for everything else but not that one show so I don't know and they also said something that there's I'm sure there's some people out here would give a shit about I'm not one of them they made a big point of saying that on May 30th they're going to have an event where they're going to finally give people some info on their release of over on high school host club which is a show that apparently people care about I'm not one of them but apparently they exist gotcha sounds kind of I'm not gonna use the word I'm gonna use but basically people care in there some news for them yeah definitely so yeah the next piece Garn Loggin is coming to sci-fi channel um at first I don't want to read this it seemed like a lot of speculation because basically it's kind of just showed up as saying oh it's gonna be on any and then this is right after you know Bandai acquired the rights and everything was still kind of up in the air I mean they're not even releasing a dub until next year well from what I heard yeah I'll say what I heard they've been doing to a week well episode the week they haven't started yet here's what it is they said that the um sci-fi deal isn't set in stone quite yet the plane is supposedly it's gonna start airing on the anime days but the guy from I can't remember his name from Bandai said that uh once it gets set in stone they're going to be working they're gonna be doing two episodes a week to get it going so they can have it ready to be on TV basically yep it's gonna be at 11 o'clock and 10 o'clock central time this will actually be worth watching I mean right now sci-fi I mean I think it's awesome that sci-fi is doing this I mean it's getting anime in more of the public domain and it's not that niche you know it's not it's getting it off of just adult swim yeah I mean it's own but I mean sci-fi is owned by the same company Viacom but it's better than nothing you know but I mean right now they're airing ninja scroll and Kaido Maru and blood the last vampire either shows have been around for a while and anime fans aren't gonna be tuning in to make oh yeah I want to watch blood but I mean they're getting growing long and supposedly so yeah so it makes it worthwhile baby mm-hmm excellent excellent I know it sounds well I mean you said it was a comedy I'm looking forward to it it's kind of a comedy it's not really drama I don't know how many badass robots you're the way the way you explained to me sounds pretty sweet I'll check it out for sure all right and next story is story is something hello kitty named Japan's tourism ambassador to China that's just crazy hello kitty is now the tourism ambassador to China and Hong Kong so yeah basically it's a basically they're gonna be using hello kitty as like the character for their for like a tourism campaign to get people to visit the country is what it sounds like yeah it's pretty funny that they really attach themselves to these cultural characters but you see the same thing in the US with other stuff oh yeah look at Mickey Mouse look at flute or a Donald Duck or Popeye the sailor we got ours over here yeah I guess so so it's certainly funny yeah it's kind of goofy but hey it brings people in it brings people in I mean all right yeah I'm gonna talk about something more interesting now indeed and what I'm gonna talk about is Bandai and Bandai Visual USA they've announced that Bandai Visual USA is going to be liquidated and then folded into Bandai Entertainment I was reading this actually just came up this morning yes and I read the top I read the the topic and I was like go to well I almost yelled holy shit across my office because at first I thought I took it as Bandai Visual was gonna be no more and I was like holy shit Bandai gone there is something totally wrong with this picture and then I read the time read the rest I was like oh but it's like what it's not a shock at all that this happened I mean Bandai Visual USA was releasing shit for way too much money on a day two episodes of DVD but yeah what it looks like Angel or Alex galaxy angels whatever it was yeah two episodes produced $34 and the frickin and the unit was but it's like but it's like what it looks like is yeah they're shutting down this and they're just folding up they're folding it into Bandai Entertainment Bandai Entertainment's gonna get all their licenses and everything so basically what's happened is they're just like it's not worth the money to keep this thing running anymore and I'm sure everyone's kind of thrilled in a sense it was cool what they were doing in a sense what it really should have been from the beginning which hopefully they'll make it into now is it should have been like a premium label for classics and stuff like a criterion on almost thing but it turned into this stupid release the Japanese discs in the US market where the US market won't support their their fees and expect to do well it was just wasn't well thought out really but it's good my only thing I'm curious about now is what's gonna happen to all of their properties cuz I'm cuz there's actually quite a bit of stuff of theirs that I wanted to own and I never got a chance to buy because it was too expensive because they released the image it blew over over here and then all the gun buster stuff in the Patlabor movies that's all stuff I wanted to get and I never got because it was all too expensive but it's actually gonna have to shit so are they gonna re-release them or am I gonna have to start porting them now I would think they will re-release them either they re-release them or just keep releasing them on their schedule and just relabel it I mean also and also hopefully that means that freedom will finally get a blue ray release because HDTV yeah hey we know it's funny too is it seemed like the Japanese really embraced HDTV really anime side yeah for a second there but HDTV never the only region where HDTV was doing good was the US really yeah it wasn't doing very good anywhere else from what I know I always say I could be wrong but what it seems like is um it was really just the US where they were doing well and that's what pushed it over the edge it wasn't so much the US it was everywhere else everyone decided we have to choose one or were screwed and like hey everywhere else they're buying blue ray let's just switch let's just choose blue ray and that's what they did and works for me I chose blue ray obviously yeah I stayed out of it I got a ps4 so there you go I got a 360 I thought I'll get in the HDTV add-on but I'm not a big movie buff neither am I so I mean like I have more anime than actual like DVDs I only have three movie DVDs the rest of these are TV shows are anime and the TV shows are like grown together or the Simpsons or Chappellari you know sure that but um anyway that would begin I would hope that band I would I'm sure Bandai Entertainment's gonna take all these things and they're probably gonna re-release a lot of it on the cheap somehow but there were some things that were like I want to get a hold of like the gunbuster box and because just the way that was manufactured I'm sure the re-release by a band I entertainment will just be a lame brick um plastic brick case like they do their anime um essentials and stuff that was the one thing that was nice about Bandai Visual USA regardless of their prices they had really well done packaging and I'm kind of a Freudian bullshit I kind of have a hard on for packaging so anyway you want to take that next story of yours yes from that awkward statement that you decided to create I got one more after this oh do you oh my bad anyway yeah you're the one who said it not me you know hard-ons start streaming the double versions of welcome to the HK and every we every week every Thursday for the next five weeks oh sorry I'm it's rather than day every night every Thursday for the next five weeks they're gonna put two episodes online okay yeah sorry that's gonna be the first ten episodes are gonna be on crunchy roll indeed and then as an added incentive which I love a lot of sad retailers I mean by select retailers best buy I mean I saw that best buy they slap adv slashed welcome to the NHK by 50% so all the four fifteen dollars fourteen ninety nine that's fucking amazing and welcome to the HK just came out on the 13th volume for it and this is a good show I'm really curious to wonder if it's not why you know also it's just a big promotion campaign they're trying to boost sales risk in the series oh this series is so fun it does have its points dramatic points but overall like man this reminds me of a little toaster but yeah it's it's good to see 80 V doing something positive again hell yeah I haven't heard much from them lately they canceled their panel supposedly they didn't really have planned that anime central that'll be pissed yeah hopefully they'll have some news for us there's a con I think next week I also know that the independent or the international licensing fair is coming up for all the licensing yeah the yearly convention they got that all the all the people owning the licenses for these shows we're trying to try to shop around to 80 V funimation so and so so they get licenses out you know and unless crap I know that's coming up really soon all right yeah so well hopefully I think it's hopefully an anime Expo 80 but you'll give us some stuff because they don't have any known life at the moment they don't have any licenses that haven't had DVD solicited for gotcha they have like nothing coming up after the summer basically they have to tell us what's coming next oh I guarantee you they got stuff on the right sure they do but people have been nervous about them so hopefully it'll work out yeah I'm just getting tired of seeing frickin re-release after re-release after re-release come on there's not that anime there but anyway moving on I got one last news story and that is something that came out fresh tonight as we're recording on Friday and it was Bandai had a panel at Fannie Mae and they gave a couple new little bits in one new license and the license is sort of the stranger which is a basically it's like a samurai it's yeah it's a samurai movie anime movie by Bones the same studio that did for mental alchemist soul eater Eureka 7 so it's guaranteed to be kick-ass and from what I've heard it is and they said that's in the works and it's going to have a DVD and a blue right release OMG which is pretty kick-ass and then they gave us just some little tidbits on their upcoming releases like they confirmed rocket girls one of their more recent licenses is going to be coming out in a 12th episode sub only box set in October you know there this has gotten really cool and I think I know why they're doing it a first volumes get bought the most yeah why not just yeah why not just say here have it all at one time well stop it's good incentive because it's like you get this whole series for $40 brand new oh yeah or two and it's yeah Bandai and Funimation have pretty much moved completely on to this Bandai's is a little funnier they're not doing like two half to 13 episode sets for an entire series they're doing like three nine to ten episode sets for an entire series but they're doing I but still that's three sets you by versus six or seven DVDs over a longer period of time and that kind of thing it's it's a much smarter way to do it honestly I just wonder I just wonder what the profits are coming from this I mean like if they're seeing more what kind of motivate them besides they aren't sure they're their number I'm sure they did all the math and figured out that they'd make just as much this way as that way I mean 40 bucks for 12 I mean 40 bucks for four or five you know volumes I could have been 30 bucks for one you know or 20 bucks for one yeah I think the idea is to increase sales at the same time and then they're doing more and more these more obscure series that are sub-only which is cool that's true and to be honest I think people are more used to it and I mean I really knows for the last year they want to dub gone down I won't say dramatically but the release of the actual original Japanese audio has become more prevalent yeah works for me I don't care either way really for me it's a series by series thing if I'm gonna watch the dubber this up gotcha but chance you ever watch lucky start dub yet no I still haven't I keep meaning to but I haven't check it out tomorrow maybe I will probably won't but maybe there you go because the thing is I have to put the DVD and the DVD player and all that stuff and that takes time man I said whole four seconds I not but I probably well in the end and I'm also gonna mention even though you don't give a shit and that's the well cared saying the Dragon Ball V whoa Dragon Ball V season five how many episodes were just still running new Dragon Ball V yes I didn't a years ago oh okay I'm gonna see like 200 in 91 episodes oh shit the language been around it feels like it go on forever it's like day you know and well this is the fade away set which covers all the imperfect imperfect cell stuff so it covers all the self shit to before the sell game which means the sell game shit's gonna be the next set it's 26 episodes it's definitely something I'm gonna pick up but I still need to get the third and fourth set first so I only had my first not bad yeah they're really well they're well put 35 oh no sorry it's started off for the last episode ended yeah with poor kid shit and they just start with their own dubs I wasn't sure but this is the actual they went back and redubbed to the beginning of the series this is the beginning it's the first 13 episodes we are they're releasing this 13 episodes sets it looks like yeah which is gonna take forever for the show which is approaching 500 episodes oh yeah it'd be years to come Funimation it's just getting ready for the future man doing man that's their plan yeah like Dragon Ball Z's got to die someday you got to get something else ready that navy galleon that knows that a bread and butter that's that's 80 days oh my apologies I'm not thinking wow but yeah yeah yeah I got the this Funimation has started releasing the Dragon Ball Z movies on Blu-ray yes you can only make 1980s look so good 1980s animation sorry early 90s animation looks so good and you know the standard DVD Blu-ray's really gonna make a difference but yeah I mean they're doing these in like I think they're gonna do this for all the movies they're going through with doing like two movies at a time and I said so it's the first two dead zone in the world's strongest DVD and Blu-ray and that's something else I might have taken up to a sucker and been a Funimation likes my money yes they're probably like I got you on speed dialing pads I'm broke here we we can't we of the same thing there's five more episodes left for episode 8 the last episode is watched was seven and once again the characters are fucking retarded the you put in these craziest situation in this case it's there was some really funny she was some funny shit though but first I was I watched six and five and six the fifth episode it was New Year's New Year's game so Kata or car excuse me Kota was at his house it's kind of chilling doing his own thing and Fox the Fox chick this kind of shows up and makes herself at home and she shows up wearing this like kimono and she's all good looking and you know she wants to take it off yes indeed indeed and I am completely forgetting names one second terrible tonight I apologize everyone listening to zero got why can I don't yes so shazuru makes this nice dinner and you know but she's bored so she brings over a game well she set the game up where if you don't do what the game says monsters are going to terrify you blah blah blah and there's a whole section have sex with your partner and I was laughing my ass off because he would like land on the spot was like have sex with your partner you're like oh no it was five that's actually partnered all right it was for as such a partner but she's like oh fine I'll do it then so she rolls it just oh look what happened and then a second partner guess we have to do it you know what monsters after you and you know Kota already looks like he's like fucking five or five or six or seven or eight he's all scared over monsters and shit any way yeah nothing much really happens kind of a typical bullshit they go to the shrine and they fight over kolta and shazuru and all the they all wish for luck and the frickin the the the premonitions or whatever you get you know you take out the basically and she has to defeat her well she basically freezes everywhere around the school so like basically every student has a chance to end up dying because the school gets any quarter and quarter and quarter and basically the principals trying to get everyone together but yeah you know there's a frog spirit well that's sleeping there's a bear spirit well the bear spirit went to sleep because you know it's hibernating so it's only a shazuru and a couple other people and basically once again they combine their powers the power of love and then defeat this winter chick and at the end you know like the fucking last couple episodes oh well you defeated me I was only a test for someone so yeah drop by the northern mountains where you live and we'll have the marriage ceremony or you know basically saying hey we accept the whole entire thing was you know she's a fox demon spirit and they aren't supposed to be dating humans you know she thought it was just a fluke or a phase or something and she was supposed this winter chick was supposed to you know prove to me that you really love Kota and that she did that it was all hunky-dory like okay I will tell them that your love is true and they can combine you know they can combine their souls into one but like once again it's just oh good job hunky-dory and it pisses me off well no okay chill dude it's dramatic it's it's interesting and I like it it keeps my attention it keeps giving me hope whether they're just like yeah well okay you should all hope I know a chance for you indeed it's bad so I don't know I guess something is I keep watching it since there is some funny shit there like Kota is really really cold so shizuru and and those only both like get naked and start rubbing on him and he's in his box isn't there like practically completely naked and they're all rubbing on him and shit and the winter chick comes up in the room and she's like what are you guys doing you could kill a bunch of people for not trying to defeat me what are you doing right there like oh nothing oh yeah that's a fight yeah I'm done anyway hey I tried watching made guy and you're a new recommendation yes my high-run yes they look so so far but they don't get any watching I watch what 15 minutes of the first episode but the something so hard to read yeah try the MKV see if that helps but for sure with that I think I'm gonna move on to yeah good to your review they may be old but they're not forgotten it's long lost anime this is about time I've done something and it's a show I actually enjoyed the first couple times I've seen it and that is on generator gall which is an anime series that um air back in 1998 and I first saw this show like on V when it first came when it came out on VHS a number of years ago it's one of the first shows I saw in VHS for you to see VH one because before before that I don't see stuff on TV basically but in that scene weren't they just airing like stuff like Sailor Moon Dragon Ball Z okay that kind of stuff but anyway generator call air to 98 it's a series that was directed by let me get its name pronounces name correctly it's um Seiji Mizushima who is the guy who directed full metal alchemist and is also currently directing Gundam 00 and you can actually see in the show you can see where his style comes in if you really aren't noticed those kind of things like I kind of did but I'm not really gonna get into that because it's hard to do since it's been a little while since I watched it but anyway the show is it's a 12 episode series it's about these three guys on Goll, Koji and Rio who all came from the future they came back in time to they came back in time basically their whole thing is they wanted to stop this basically apocalyptic war that turned everything into this weird industrial world where everything's controlled by this one group and every all the people that are alive that are left here basically and they just went back in time to stop the conspiracy that caused it all was the whole idea and the thing that makes the show kind of cool is the main character Goll and a couple other ones are he's something called a generator it's kind of this weird kind of I can't remember what it is exactly looks like a alien thing it's very if you've seen the giver it'll be very familiar to you it's like hey he like does something this releases his power in this kind of it takes this kind of alien form a lot like the giver and battles these other monsters that are basically been sent out to stop them from succeeding in their tasks of stopping this apocalyptic war and shit but it's got a fun it's got a lot of humor to it because the whole thing is they come back in time and they end up moving in with this girl Masami and they deal with them dealing with her trying to hide from her everything of their whack of their mysterious origins essentially and I really enjoyed it and the thing about it gets a little confusing towards the end because time travel is an evil evil plot device and once you start thinking about things in the context of time travel your head starts hurting because things don't make it's impossible for anything to make sense when you think of time travel for the most part because of the same you showing up everywhere and all that kind of crap it's just it's confusing and makes my head hurt so but besides that I really like it and it's it's only 12 so it's long the one tragedy to it is it was released by 80V here but I don't I think they lost the license a while ago because they last time it was released on TV was probably a force was a couple years ago three or so years ago it doesn't look like it has any chance of ever being re-released because it hasn't been yet and 80V loves re-releases so it's definitely if you can hunt it down and do I really like it it's highly recommended just because it was a fun sci-fi series it wasn't very long and it's from a guy who's gone to do some really good shit and it's cool to see you know where they were someone like that's come from and I think with that I'm gonna finish my first long-lost anime I don't want to give away too much of the plot but it's essentially it's a great great sci-fi kind of thing basically and by my time on the plot seems like gotcha well hey look at the hey of it cuz there's stories I don't I don't want to ruin mysteries indeed because I hate spoilers and fuck I should put a warning saying hey I just spoiled all fucking episodes either way you kind of couldn't stop talking about plot when you were doing this shit sorry about which one that shell kicks ass yeah I know I know anyway yes I kind of when I like something I won't shut up about it I apologize just let me over the head and big hate shut the fuck up but yes kind of a short episode this week you know reasonable length but yeah I guess I'm gonna throw this out um hit us up with some email show at bonds I beat calm you email Jello Coon
