This is WBC Boston's news video redefining local news. Hazy Sunshine, it's 85 and Sticky and Boston 11 o'clock. On this Monday morning, I'm Laurie Kirby. Mayor Wu declares a heat emergency in Boston from today through Wednesday. Actor with a meteorologist, Joan Longberg, tells us what we can expect. It is good to be what I would call combustible over the next few days. By that, I mean that between now and sometime late Wednesday night, there's a risk for a shower or thunderstorm at the drop of a hat. There's just so much heat and humidity in the atmosphere trying to be squeezed into the area. Mayor Wu says Boston is rolling out a few ways to help keep residents cool. All residents can make use of the misting tents, the splash pads, and of course, the cooling stations located all around the city. By the way, your local public library is a good, good place to cool down as well. [MUSIC PLAYING] Ricky News, the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump, is dismissed. This is Trump recovers from an attempted assassination. Worn out from ABC News. [MUSIC PLAYING] This is a special report from ABC News. Documents case dismissed. I'm Brian Clark. A sudden end to the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump. It's been dismissed. ABC National correspondent Stephen Portnoy has more from Milwaukee, side of the Republican National Convention. Judge Eileen Cannon, in an opinion that runs more than 90 pages, rules that special counsel Jack Smith had no power to bring an indictment. Because unlike U.S. attorneys, he was never nominated by a president and confirmed by the Senate. Instead, Smith was tapped by the Attorney General under Justice Department regulations. Judge Cannon accepts the argument advanced by conservative legal minds over the years that that arrangement violates the Constitution's appointments clause. It's an argument that was rejected by the D.C. Circuit Appeals Court when it was used against special counsel Robert Mueller during Trump's presidency. There's been no comment from the special counsel's office, which can appeal Judge Cannon's ruling. This is ABC News. And questions are swirling about the security at the Pennsylvania rally where Donald Trump was shot. ABC's Peter Thomas is more than the Secret Service agents who return fire. The Secret Service snipers, who were part of the team responsible for protecting former President Trump, were perched at a number of elevated locations themselves. Law enforcement sources telling ABC News, the Secret Service sniper faced a harrowing split second decision. This was apparently the first time a Secret Service sniper has killed an attempted assassin. And again, security is tight at the RNC, getting underway in Milwaukee. Donald Trump is expected to deliver a speech there on Thursday of this week. And again, shifting the tone and some of the language in the wake of this attempted assassination as well. Boating on tape cod is one of the joys of life for many, but it's taking a toll on the lives of sea turtles. Mass Audubon tells the Cape Cod Times, "10 loggerhead turtles turned up dead around the Cape and islands in recent weeks. Dead turtles washed ashore and shat them yarmouth, barnstable in the islands, some were floating, it was sad. And Mass Audubon says half of those turtles were killed by vessel strikes. The urging boaters use your eyes, be mindful, awareness is half the battle. It is sticky, it's warm, and it's getting hot. Embossed in today, high 92 in the 80s for the Cape and islands, but the Accula, the real feel for today, upper 90s. Listen and watch for thunderstorms later this afternoon. Tonight, warm and sticky spotty showers in the 70s. But again, it's not a pleasant 70 because of that high dew point. It just feels like this terrible soaking blanket of heat that is not going away anytime soon. In fact, we don't see a break in this forecast in terms of the heat and humidity until Thursday. And our break is in the 80s. Gas prices are up by a penny. The average in Massachusetts is now $3.51. There were concerns that hurricane barrel would impact gas prices when it made landfall in Texas, but AAA says disruption to refineries and shipping ports has been limited. You remember last year's peaches? They were so disappointing. Glowing red orbs right now hang off the trees in Hudson. This is a banking year for peach growers and Hileschaffel follows up in Hudson. I'm in the Fragilian peach orchard surrounded by leafy green trees studded with ruby red fruit. My right hand is holding the mic, but my left hand looks like it just drowned in a peach juice thunder shower. I was glad nobody was looking at me because when I looked down after I ate it, it looked like, you know, somebody had dropped a bucket of water right where I was eating. It was so juicy. Natalie Fragilian Forsyth is a fourth-generation farmer here, and she just handed me the first perfect peach of the season, which full disclosure, I was halfway through demolishing. But if you remember last year, there wasn't enough golden peach ambrosia to make anyone's arms sticky. Last year was really difficult because it seemed like it rained almost every day. That and a late cold snap made a rough year for farming. But happily, this season is trucking along just fine. In fact, the trees poured their energy into growth last year instead of making fruit, which makes this year's crop good lord tastes like that. In Hudson, Hileschaffel, WBC, Boston's News Radio. Singer Morgan Wallen dealing with fired-up critics and irate fans. WBC's Drew Mullen tells us why. Picture this. You have a long week at work. You want to take in some music to start the weekend. A little concert. You battle some traffic. And then at 4 p.m. on show day, you hear the concert is a no-go. That's what happened to Morgan Wallen fans in Tampa the other night. Wallen writing on X that he was sick and had to scrap that Tampa show along with this week's shows in Charlotte, too. Wow. That's a lot of post-poments now, isn't it? Wallen fans went wild on social media. Come on, dude. I'm already parking in the parking lot as we speak. Another wrote, "Oh, great, Morgan. You want to pick up my hotel tab, too?" A lot of people not happy with the late post-poments from Morgan Wallen. Drew Mullen, WBC, Boston's News Radio. You are now in the loop for news updates throughout the day.
