This is WBC, Boston's news video, redefining local news. Rain coming down in the city 77 degrees at 11 o'clock, good Saturday morning. I'm Sherry Small. Here's what's happening. High temps and rainy skies in the forecast today. It says cloudy and humid today with showers and a heavy thunderstorm around with highs from 82 to 86. In fact, there is a flood watch in effect through 8 p.m. today. That was AccuWeather meteorologist LaTroy Thornton, and we'll have the full AccuWeather forecast. That's coming up in three. A CBS News poll finds nearly two-thirds of voters under the age of 30 don't think either candidate should be on the ticket in the upcoming presidential election. WBCTV's Laura Hayfully spoke to students getting ready to make their big decision. Boston native Richard Falzone plans to cast his ballot for what he calls the safe bet. I find it somewhat frustrating because I think there's like a false equivalence between maybe a disappointed candidate versus an extremely dangerous candidate who has spoken out loud in the open plan to fundamentally restructure our democracy. And it's democracy that hopeful students are hanging their hat on come November. There are some students who like me just really care about voting a lot and there are some who don't really see the point. Ciona Mascara is the co-chair of Tufts student group Jumbo, working to encourage voting on campus, reminding classmates, casting a ballot and making a choice matters. There's never going to be a candidate that you agree with, 100 percent. And young people aren't the only ones who lack confidence in President Biden, Governor Mora Healy spoke out recently questioning the president's ability to defeat Trump, asking the president, quote, "to evaluate if he remains our best hope." In the CBS news poll, finding 66 percent of voters under 30 don't think Biden should run 64 percent, say Trump should not run. President Biden, meanwhile, held a campaign rally yesterday in Michigan, the president going after his opponent and doubling down on his commitment to stay in the presidential race. Here's ABC's Will McDuffie. I'm a growing calls from within his own party to step aside as the Democratic nominee. President Biden, Friday night in Detroit delivering an emphatic message that he's not going anywhere. There's a lot of speculation lately. What's Joe Biden going to do? Is he going to stay in the race? He's going to drop out. Here's mine, sir. I am running, and we're going to win. Meanwhile, a crowd of rocket supporters indicating that they're fully behind him. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump is holding a rally today in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, he is yet to announce a vice presidential pick. And now let's check the AccuWeather forecast. All right, we're going to see a little bit of everything is going to be humid. Clouds could break for some sun late in the day, but today in the afternoon, we're going to be seeing some showers, a thunderstorm around some, which could be heavy and could bring some flooding to areas with poor drainage. Highs today, 84 to about 88 degrees, but because it's going to be humid, it might feel a little warmer than that tonight, dropping down to 72 in the city, 66 in a few inland spots, but it's going to remain humid overnight tomorrow, mostly sunny, not nearly as humid. Highs 86 to 90 degrees is going to be nice to lose that humidity, but it's only going to be for a day because it's back on Monday. There could be a late date thunderstorm as well. With that humidity, we're going to see a mix of sun and clouds and highs bumping to about 90 to 94 degrees of real field temps are going to be in the upper 90s. And I hate to even bring us that far, but Tuesday, highs bumping to 94 to 98 degrees, real field temps, it'll feel like it's in the triple digits. Right now we're seeing 77 degrees in rain in Boston. It's 11.06. Some good news for residents of Mission Hill, their post office is going to stay here. At the beginning of June, people heading to the post office in Mission Hill noticed a sign on the door, saying the USPS branch would be closing at the end of the month. Boston City Councilor Sharon Durkin says that's when residents started reaching out. The flyer noted that residents would either have to go to the Brookline post office or the Nubian Square post office. We received an outpouring of comments when the neighborhood was notified. The Brookline and Nubian Square locations are both over a mile away and are busy with their own customers. Now with Councillor Durkin and Senator Ed Markey's help, the Mission Hill USPS location will stay put. We know that the Mission Hill post office is essential for the neighborhood. In an increasingly online world, we still need people to have the ability to send and receive messages via posts. It's now re-signed a five-year lease so it can stay at its Treymont Street location. I'm a freedman, WBZ, Boston's news radio, a mother and her three-year-old little girl are safe after some very scary moments on Route 95 South in Medford yesterday morning. Ivana Pertori and her daughter Viviana were on their way to Somerville when a metal object came out of nowhere and smashed into the passenger side of the window. I should correct that. That was 93 South in Medford yesterday. All right, the police say if someone had been sitting on that side of the car, the passenger side, they would have been seriously hurt. The metal object also hit a second car in the road. No injuries were reported. A new life sciences building in Somerville is not going up anytime soon. The Globe reporting construction on the nine-story building on McGrath Highway has been put on hold indefinitely. A spokesperson for that development says that there's been a dramatic decrease in the demand for lab space. The vacancy rate is already just under 18 percent in the first quarter of this year, which is a 10-year high that's according to real estate company Colliers. That vacancy rate is expected to go even higher this year. You are now in the Loop.
