This is WBC News Radio. Where Boston gets the news. An iHeart Radio station. Good morning. It's Friday. It's not that out right now. It's not that hot. We're seeing 84 degrees in Boston. And finally, there's a forecast right on scene 90. Today, it's not that. Tomorrow is going to be horrible. Accurate a meteorologist Joe Lomberg says, tomorrow is severe weather that could trigger some flooding. Listen, and watch tomorrow from 5 a.m. through 8 p.m. And for good reason. It's going to be very humid with showers and a heavier thunderstorm that could lead to flooding on streets. And in poor drainage areas, high temperature tomorrow, really not far from 80. President Biden tries to breathe new life into his reelection campaign exactly two weeks after stumbling through his first presidential debate. Well, he took the podium last night at an unscripted news conference in CBS's Nancy Porter's Princess up to date. I think I'm the most qualified person to run for president. With his reelection bid on the line, an animated president Biden answered questions about his health. And they say, I'm in good shape, OK? His age, the only thing age does, is help you create some a little bit of wisdom if you pay attention. And his record. Can you name me somebody who's got more major piece of legislation passed in three and a half years? I got to create 2,000 jobs just last week. But there was a gap at one point last night when Mr. Biden said vice president Trump instead of vice president Harris. He brushed it off with a joke saying he knows the difference. One's a prosecutor. The other is a felon. Meanwhile, on the other side of the fence, Republican lawmakers are getting ready for next week's Republican National Convention. It starts on Monday. CBS's Caitlin Uy burns with more. Well, as Democrats are questioning their nominee, Republicans are rallying around theirs. Former president Donald Trump will be nominated at the party convention here in Milwaukee next week. And Biden's insistence on staying in this race is welcome news for the Trump campaign, which is very eager for a rematch. The only X factor really at this point for Republicans is who Trump will pick as his running mate. Right. And he's expected to announce that at the convention, a couple of names floated. Ohio Senator JD Vance, Florida Senator Marco Rubio. And your data may have been compromised right under your nose. It's now been determined to security breach in 2022 that hit AT&T compromised the data of nearly all of its cellular customers, customers of mobile virtual networks using AT&T wireless and landline users who interacted with those cell numbers. The company says so far it's found the compromised data includes calls and texts between May 1st and October 31st, 2022. AT&T says it has launched an investigation and has hired cyber security experts. Steve Kathan, CBS News. It's pretty nice out right now. A little bit of rain on Cape Cod and the islands. But we're seeing some nice sunshine out there in Boston, 84, Quincy 84, Nadek 84. And again, it's a nice Friday. When we talk about the chance of thunderstorms, we're talking very late tonight. Although just listen in here or there to make sure we're not getting any new intel on the weather front. By tomorrow though, it is all down the drain and then some flooding streets. Poor drainage errors will be a problem. We could see torrential rain, heavy thunderstorms all day, Saturday, Sunday is fine. And a heads up, if you ride the T, parts of the red line will be closed over the next two weeks. Crews are working on fixing the slow zones. And today, shuttle buses really tonight will run between ale, wife and Kendall from 815 tonight to end of service tonight. And service changes will vary depending on the date. So we have a list on that because there are variables on our website. It's wbznewsradio.com for a complete list of service changes. Meanwhile, July is water transit month. Wbzz James Rojas is at long war with that. What better way to raise water transit awareness than with a splash and a fair? I'm here at Christopher Columbus Park with Pat Sullivan, Executive Director of the C4 TMA. And really, our goal is to bring people down to learn more about all those water transit options. He says water transit is a critical piece to the local transportation network and has only been highlighted by the Sumner tunnel closure. Whenever we have feedback from people that use the ferries. It's really always just glowing talking about what a great experience it is, how comfortable it is, how you can't beat the views of commuting to work on the harbor and seeing the city skyline of the window. He says they hope to expand water transit options in the area for years to come. At Columbus Park, James Rojas Wbz, Boston's news radio. - The Thuan residents could soon see a hike in their water bills. The city is weighing a proposal to upwater and sewer rates by 10% this year again next year and by smaller amounts for three years after that. And this is a beach day, but Wbzj will let's suggest you check out the closures before you head to the beach. And here's why. - The latest look at the state's water quality dashboard has Yarmith's Vernon Street, Clipper Lane and Dennis and Shannon Beach and Winchester out of commission because of too much bad bacteria. That's only for swimming. Feel free to build a sand castle or five. - Fresh water swimmers are out of luck at Dunpond and Gardener, Longcove and West Tisbury and John's pond in Mashby. There's a harmful cyanobacteria bloom to watch out for there. The Department of Public Health updates this advisory twice every day. So make sure to give it a check before you hop out the door. J will let Wbzj, Boston's news radio. - You are now in the loop for news updates throughout the day. Listen to Wbz news radio on the I-Hard radio app. - On Laurie Kirby, Wbz, Boston's news radio.
