You don't call. But here you are. And welcome. Come on in. Clear skies as we get started this Friday morning. And we're already at 71 degrees. News at 6 is brought to us by your New England Toyota dealer, your hybrid all-wheel drive headquarters. Welcome aboard this morning. I'm Jeff Brown. We are stuck in the middle with you. Watch out for a morning shower and perhaps a thunderstorm late to high ED4088. That is WBC, AccuWeather meteorologist Joe Lundberg, a hazy sunshine sandwich in between. We'll get near 90, as he said once again today. Red Sox smack the athletics at Fenway Park. They now have a one-game lead for a wildcard playoff spot in the American League. They lead the Kansas City Royals, who just happened to be, coming to Fenway Park tonight. Bill Belichick gets a job. He's joining inside the NFL on Friday night this fall on the CW network and the Wimbledon semifinals for the men get underway this morning. Did he do enough? President Biden waits in shark-infested media waters to prove he's fit for four more years. This is a special report from ABC News. The Biden News Conference. I'm Dave Packer. President Biden in his first press conference since the debate with Donald Trump is performance under scrutiny, as calls grow from Democratic lawmakers asking Mr. Biden to leave the 2024 race. Biden challenging questions about his stamina. If you look to my schedule since I've since I made that stupid mistake in the debate, I mean, my schedule has been full bore. I've done-- where's Trump in? Riding around in his golf cart, filling out his scorecard before he hits the ball. ABC News political analyst Steve Roberts believes the president, when he says he has no plans to drop out and make room for Vice President Harris or anyone else. Joe Biden is entrenched, and a growing number of Democrats are enraged. And that is a recipe for a standoff. In fact, the 17th House Democrat has called on President Biden to end his reelection campaign. This is ABC News. And as Donald Trump uses President Biden's recent re-election questions as fuel for his own campaign fire, his lawyers want charges dismissed in his Hush Money case. Attorneys argue that the Supreme Court's recent ruling on presidential immunity protects him in this case. This drink specials made to the menu legally in Massachusetts. At bars and restaurants, it seems like a comeback has been talked about forever. Supporters say this will boost the fun factor here. Back to business, the entire bill sends billions to life sciences and climate tech industries. Mr. Mom had it right. Found beer? It's 7 o'clock in the morning. Sketch. There it is. Speak in our language. All right, Drew. Thank you. It's still humid here in the city, 71 degrees, although it's slightly more comfortable this morning than in days past. The humidity is by no means out of the way and will continue to pose problems for us throughout the day today as we jump into the mid to upper 80s. Once again, we might run the risk. Doesn't look like it now, but we might run the risk of some stray showers this morning and then it's an additional chance of some thunderstorm activity moving into the area this afternoon. All right, get ready because this weekend is really just a 50/50 proposition. It's still going to be warm and muggy, but looks like we're going to be introducing some showers and some thunderstorms certainly overnight tonight. And they'll affect us for much of the morning hours tomorrow before we start to begin to taper things off in the afternoon. Daytime highs will only be in the lower 80s tomorrow, and that is a bit of a relief. But it will be very humid once again. We're right back at it on Sunday with the return of sunshine and high temperatures approaching 90 degrees, and it looks like the long-range forecast continues more hot and humid weather as well. 71 and some sunshine this Friday morning in Boston at 606. More trouble for a bankrupt hospital change. We're now learning the Department of Justice has launched an investigation into Stewart Health Care's overseas practices for potential corruption. The feds are reportedly investigating potential violations of the Ford Corrupt Practices Act. There were previous reports that Stewart executives were accused of a bribery scheme in their attempt to take over of hospitals in the Mediterranean island of Malta. The Maltese government was in contact with the feds over that deal, which eventually imploded. All of this is playing out as Stewart is in the midst of bankruptcy proceedings, where they're looking to offload all of their medical facilities, nine of which are here in Massachusetts. Jim McKay, WBZ, Boston's News Radio. Saving lives on the MBTA Narcan is coming to a red line stop near you. Just like there are emergency fire extinguishers in case of a fire. Soon there will be cabinets with doses of Narcan in case of an overdose. That's awesome. I love that. It's a pilot program that's coming to five red line stations, including here at Ashmont. China works in health care and carries Narcan wherever she goes. She thinks more places should make them publicly available. I think that's also a program. And it should be everywhere because we have our most vulnerable community out here everywhere, mostly at the station. I think that's a beautiful thing. I actually am happy to hear that. Meanwhile, the MBTA says other stations joining the initiative are Quincy Center, Andrew, South Station, and Harvard. Indoorchester, James Rojas, WBZ, Boston's News Radio. Paris officials say the river sand has been safe for swimming 10 or 11 of the past 12 days. $1.5 billion have been spent on cleaning the river with the swimming marathon and triathlon swimming are slated to take place. Heavy rain could still change that. It prompts an inflow of untreated water that could make the sand unfit for swimming. It rained here all last night and this morning, but officials aren't prepared to move to plan B just yet. Elaine Cobb, CBS News, Paris. You are now in the loop.
