This is WBSI Boston's news video redefining local news 89 degrees in Boston at four o'clock. Good afternoon. I'm Ben Parker. Here's what's happening. Stop me if you've heard this one before. It's really hot around here. Heat advisory in effect through 8 p.m. this evening. There's a small chance of this carrying over it to tomorrow as well. Now making it day four of dealing with heat advisory is WBSI TV's Jason Michael. We do have the heat advisory for Boston until Friday from Mayor Wu and we're just dealing with the hots and stickies around here and we'll be doing that for a couple more days. We'll be into the 90s next week too. They say we'll check out traffic and weather together in just a couple of minutes. Karen reads lawyers filing another motion to dismiss charges against her after they say a fourth juror has come forward. The defense says a fourth juror is the latest to come to them reporting that the 12th person jury had found Reed not guilty of two charges. Murder in the second degree and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Legal analyst Philip A. Tracy Jr. says that would mean they were only truly hung up on the manslaughter while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol charge even though their note to the judge said otherwise. They didn't send the judge a note saying we have acquitted her until the judge. They said the note saying we had hopelessly deadlocked. So I don't know exactly you know obviously can't read mine. I asked Tracy if the judge could have declared a mistrial on just one of the charges. I believe so but I'm not 100% sure on that. I have to look that up because it's such an unusual happening. It really doesn't happen that often. I've been in the business for 50 years. I'm a Friedman W. B. Z. Boston's news radio. Even more fallout in the Karen Reed case. Last month the Ken police department placed Kevin Albert on leave one of Albert's brothers Brian is the Boston police officer who owned the home where John O'Keefe was found in the snow in January of 2002. The select board chair made the announcement at last night's board meeting saying Kevin Albert was placed on paid administrative leave while an outside independent investigations being conducted relative to his actions in a case he investigated with Michael Proctor approximately two years ago. Meantime another Albert brother Chris who was a Ken select board member apologized for his recent verbal altercations that were caught in the public eye. NATO allies are in Washington for meetings. President Biden is with them the summit coming as the presidential election is very much on people's minds. NATO Secretary General Yen Stoltenberg said regardless of the election outcome he expects the U.S. to continue with support of the military alliance. U.S. security interests is to have a strong NATO and European arms are stepping up investing more. I expect that the United States will remain a strong ally regardless of the outcome of elections. In a New York Times opinion peace national security advisor Jake Sullivan noted allies are spending more on their defense because President Biden deepened ties rather than bullying them or threatening to leave the alliance. That is CBS's Cammy McCormick. It's hot. All right there we go done with the forecast. No really it is hot and humid and there's a heat advisory up until eight o'clock tonight. There's a heat advisory in Boston until Friday so we're stuck in this for a while. We're all in it together so why not make the best of it mostly cloudy this evening. The muggies continue the thunderstorm threat will be popping up from north and west of the city and temperatures in the mid 70s tonight a shower early South Coast Cape and islands tomorrow otherwise just going to have some clouds and sun and humidity and warmth temperatures getting close to 90 real feels for sure in the 90s. Patchy clouds warm and muggy tomorrow night in the low 70s and then a very warm day on Friday some sun maybe a couple thunderstorms around in the afternoon temperatures into the upper 80s Saturday mid to upper 80s with clouds breaking for some sun in the threat of a shower or thunderstorm we may get right back into the 90s as next week unfolds as well so nowhere near being out of the woods from the heat and humidity around these parts 89 right now in Boston. A Massachusetts astronaut gives an update from space following issues getting back to earth. WDBZ's Brooke McCarthy has details. Welcome aboard the International Space Station first. It's a great place to be a great place to live a great place to work. Needham's own Sonny Williams along with fellow NASA test pilot Butch Wilmer are keeping a positive attitude aboard the International Space Station. The duo gave their first news conference from orbit following complications with Boeing's new Starliner capsule. This has kept them there almost a month longer than planned. Yeah it's great to be up here so I'm not complaining butch isn't complaining that we're here for a couple weeks extra weeks. Helium leaks and thruster failures cause issues getting to the ISS and are now keeping them there. Back on earth Boeing and NASA are working to troubleshoot the problems and Sonny says they're both confident they will get back home. We've practiced a lot so I have a feeling I have a a real good feeling in my heart that this spacecraft will bring us home. No problem. Right now there's no timeline of when Brooke McCarthy WBZ Boston's news radio. It was a Boston institution for years but during the pandemic it closed. Now it's reopening and Carl Stevens tells us local theater lovers love it. For years starting in the late 70s Boston's sold in-person discounted theater tickets but during the pandemic the Boston's booth went dark until now the day of discounts has dawned. What are your thoughts about Boston's reopening? I'm very excited for the reopening. It's a Boston landmark. Kristen Chenoweth is an amazing star so I'm hoping to get some good tickets on the first day and I'm so excited. She was in line to get a good deal on the musical The Queen of Versailles coming to the Emerson Colonial Theater. I looked online ahead of time and I decided the deal down here is a lot better. It looks like 50-dollar tickets for a Broadway show so yeah can't be better.
