As we get started this Tuesday morning, good morning, six o'clock. I'm Jeff Brown. The news at six is brought to you by your New England Toyota dealer, your hybrid all-wheel drive headquarters. Welcome aboard as we wilt in the heat. Times of Son of Cloud taught that Cuba today high 90 to 94 with actual the real-field temperatures in the upper 90s. That is WBC AccuWeather meteorologist Joe Lundberg. A heat advisory has been extended until eight o'clock tomorrow night, forced to work or simply being outside on a day like today is not fun at all. And it's also pretty dangerous. The magic word of the day, hydration. Yeah, just drink water. Drink a lot of water. Doing a lot of water. They hydrated. Yeah, it's not rocket science, but it is something folks need to be reminded about from time to time as the number one weather killer is extreme heat. It's like it's a just move at your own pace. If you go too fast, yeah, you're going to be slow. Drink a lot of water. Drink a lot of water. Get some shade. The heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. a Wednesday night in Beacon Hill. James Rojas, WBC, Boston's News Radio. Once powerful Hurricane barrel has been downgraded to a tropical depression now. It's path of devastation leaves about 2 and 1/2 million customers in the dark, mostly in Texas without electricity. And it is responsible for the deaths of at least four in the United States. The storm continues to hammer the deep south with heavy rains and high wind. And as it makes its way up the East Coast, it looks like the worst of what's going to be left of barrel will miss most of us and swing north and west of Greater Boston. The nation's airports have never been busier. The TSA says more than 3 million travelers went through security checkpoints on Sunday to wrap up 4th of July weekend. The previous record lasted just a couple of weeks. In fact, the TSA says nine of the 10 busiest days it has ever seen have happened this year. At these rates, some 3 dozen passengers are checked in every second somewhere in the United States. Red Sox are back in action tonight and back home to open a three-game series against Oakland later on. Hopkinson High School's one-time star, Keegan Bradley, his name, the US Ryder Cup team captain after Tiger Woods, turns the offer down. Biggest stage in professional tennis is getting smaller almost by the minute. WBC's Drew Mulholland is here to give us an update on Wimbledon. Good morning, Andrew. Good morning, Jeffrey. And no shortage of drama at Wimbledon. Check this out, Novak Jokefitch. He's looking strong, fit. He's still in it. And he got a win yesterday. But listen to Joker, not happy with the Wimbledon crowd. And to all those people that have chosen to disrespect the player, in this case, me, have a good night. [CHEERING] I'm hoping that they were just commenting on Runa and that they weren't disrespecting you. They were, they were, they were. Yeah, no, he's not happy. It's not me, it's you. That's right. And Taylor Fritz got a big win coming back yesterday, but have a frosty handshake with Alexander Zvereb. So there's a lot going on at Wimbledon. A lot of stuff happening. All right, Drew, thanks for the update. Once again, it is disgusting how the door in Boston this morning, very humid conditions. It is 74 degrees. We get started on this Tuesday morning. A heat advisory has been extended now until 8 o'clock tomorrow night and an air quality alert has been posted. It is very dangerous to be outside for any length of time today as temperatures will soar once again into the 90s. We'll have to keep our eyes to the sky this afternoon because a gusty thunderstorm is possible in isolated areas later today. More widespread action comes our way tomorrow afternoon as we are expecting some heavy rain and some thunderstorms to rumble through the area. Now we are watching what has now the remnants of Hurricane Beryl in the deep South. It is going to make its way up the east coast, but it looks like most of what's left of Beryl will be north and northwest of Massachusetts. So we'll miss the effects it looks like of this storm system. So what that means for the rest of the week on Thursday, it will be quite breezy with wind gusts between 30 and 35 miles per hour and a high temperature in the upper 80s. And it looks like a mix of sun and clouds and maybe the possibility of some thunderstorms rounding out the week on Friday. Right now in Boston, it is a very humid 74 under mostly clear skies at 606 on this Tuesday morning. It is not easy navigating Boston any day of the week, especially now. But construction crews are making quick progress in the now shutdown Sumner Tunnel. Crews are on the job 24/7 here in East Boston, gunning to get a quarter of the way done on the Sumner Tunnel project this week. Things are progressing regularly we want them to. We've had about 85 trucks of milled asphalt leave. We have contractors working around the clock with about 75 staff in the tunnel. Mass out Highway Administrator Jonathan Galver says you can consider the Sumner an underground bridge. They have a weak points in the concrete are marked with spray paint to be filled in. Contractors JF White are in charge. Kevin Lampron is head of that team. We did a section, a tunnel, we opened it up, did some soundings to try and get and anticipate just how much demolition we were going to need to do to try to identify the scope. Work is expected to wrap up August 5th, but there's a number of potential weekend closures set aside should things go the other way. J will act WBC Boston's news radio.
