This is WBC, Boston's news video, redefining local news. It's 81 degrees in Boston at 4 o'clock, good Sunday afternoon, I'm Madison Rogers. We have dark clouds over Boston, we've had flashes of lightning rain coming down with more to come. Here's AccuWeather's John Fearing. We're going to have some heavy gusts of storms around the first part of the evening, storms escape from producing damaging winds, hail, as well as drenching downpours. Right now, we do have a severe thunderstorm warning and effect around Fall River, also into Daiton and Somerset. This could bring 60-mile-an-hour winds and pea-sized hail. The worst of this storm so far this afternoon has been in Rhode Island and in Connecticut, but it is very much heading into those south coast communities. Stretching from around Adelborough down to the coast in New Bedford, stay tuned, we have more coming up with traffic and weather together. To the U.S. Supreme Court now, a critical ruling is due tomorrow on whether former President Trump has immunity for actions he took in the White House. Here's ABC's Perry Russam. At the center of this case, does former President Trump have immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts while in office? This is tied to the January 6 election interference case for Trump faces four felony charges, including conspiracy to defraud the U.S. for his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Trump has pleaded not guilty and denies all wrongdoing. The former president is facing an obstruction charge. The Supreme Court raised the bar for obstruction on Friday, but he had to be seen how that might impact the case. Tensions are simmering in Dedham and Canton, as jurors prepare for more deliberations in the Karen Reid murder trial, WBC's Emma Friedman has a preview. Monday marks day five of deliberations. At the end of last week, jurors sent a note to the judge, saying they were deadlocked before she told them to keep trying and take the weekend to rest. Judge Canoni said they should take more time to go over everything, considering the last two months of testimony and hundreds of exhibits in the case. If the jury comes back again, unable to make a decision whether Karen Reid is guilty or not of killing her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O'Keefe, the judge could send them back out to keep deliberating. If a mistrial is declared, the state gets the option to try Reid again with a new jury. Jurors will be back at deliberations at the courthouse in Dedham this week until a verdict is reached or until the 4th of July when they get the holiday off. Emma Friedman, WBC, Boston's news radio. This week brings the 4th of July and this weekend has already brung packed crowds at the airport. TSA is experiencing some of its highest passenger counts ever. In fact, this past Friday was the 4th busiest day on record for the TSA, nearly 3 million passengers screened at airports nationwide. But it's this coming Wednesday, July 3rd, that'll likely be the busiest day to head to your destination this holiday period. The weather out there happening at the worst possible time for Boston Logan with those big crowds. So far today, more than well over 200 flights have been delayed and close to 100 now have been cancelled, if you have any plans to fly out today, check in with your airline. And the South Coast is getting slammed with severe storms right now. There is a thunderstorm warning in effect around Fall River and Somerset until 4 15. So for at least another 10 minutes, we have rain stretching up toward the Metro West and Boston. It looks like it might become coming down heavier right now around Randolph and Brockton, but still nothing too severe in that area. Again, the South Coast is the danger zone at the moment along with coastal Rhode Island and Connecticut. Stay tuned. Any of these storms can bring severe damaging winds and flooding downpours tonight. It's partly to mostly cloudy 66 for the low tomorrow. It's not as warm and less humid, though we could see another shower to maybe a thunderstorm around in the afternoon, 74 for the high on Monday, 78 on Tuesday, so warmer, but still low humidity, some sunshine around. We have a mix of clouds and sun and we continue the warm up for Wednesday, looking at a high around 82 again. We have rain coming down in Boston with stronger weather to the south and southeast in the hob. It's 81 degrees and feeling closer to 90 at 405. The forecasters are warning that Hurricane Beryl could devastate the Caribbean. An update now here is Mike Brennan with the National Hurricane Center. We're most concerned right now about the area from St. Vincent and the Grenadines down to Grenada, sort of the southern Windward Islands, that's where we're most likely to see the eye wall of Beryl move through as we go from tonight into Monday. Beryl is now a Category 4 hurricane with 130 mile an hour winds and there are concerns it could impact Miami. When Team USA takes the gymnastics floor in Paris next month, a pair of Olympians will be repping the Bay State. WBC's Charlie Bergeron, Frederick Richard from Stoughton, Steven Neterazik from Worcester, two of the seven members of the men's gymnastics team officially announced at the Olympic trials in Minneapolis. For the 20 year old Richard who finished first in the all around competition, a chance to think back to when his quest to be an Olympian all began. I think tonight was all about like gratitude and gratefulness, just remembering my younger self and how proud he would be for me to be in this position today. For the 25 year old Neterazik had all came down to one event and he aced his performance on the pommel horse. That's all you guys back home. I made it. I did it. I did the childhood dream. I'm so excited. I'm going to make you all proud. And for both Richard and Neterazik, their first ever Olympic games, the summer games from Paris begin July 26th. Charlie Bergeron, WBC Boston's news radio. COVID is rearing its ugly head again, cases are rising in Massachusetts and across the nation. Just as people start to get ready for those 4th of July get togethers, here's ABC correspondent Dr. Darien Sutton. Right now we're seeing it rising in at least 44 states and unfortunately or thankfully we're not seeing an increased rate of virulence or more infectious. Thankfully, there's a new sub variant making the rounds symptoms include sore throat, congestion and fatigue, experts say antiviral Pax-Lovid is still available and effective. A new study shows service dogs may help reduce PTSD symptoms among veterans. Military members and veterans with post traumatic stress disorder were partnered with the psychiatric service dog in addition to receiving usual PTSD care. And the research published in JAMA Network Open shows they had less severe symptoms after three months compared with those who just received the typical care. The dogs are trained to comb or interrupt their owner's anxiety, among other skills. You're now in the loop.
