REFRAME YOUR THOUGHT FROM SCARCITY TO ABUNDANCE - Pt 4. (5 ways to avoid the status trap) | Sunday Service 28 Jan 2024

Last week, we spoke about the danger of chasing status as this has the potential of building a sense of scarcity in us where we feel we are not at par with some people. The whole exclusivity list is a scarcity game that we should not play.

When you fee like you don’t belong in a club, special class etc, and you tied your self worth to it, if you are not careful, two things will happen:

-        One – you could run around trying to get into that exclusive club thinking you would feel good inside or be joyful when you get there but status never brings true wealth or inner joy. You may get it and realise you need more. How do I know that? Suppose you buy a brand new car- the car of your dream, the first few days you may feel so good about it but after a while, you get used to it and you want more. In essence, you are left a feeling of dissatisfaction. It is the same with chasing status. Jesus said this:

-        Two – you may feel excluded and automatically feels like those who are in the so called “exclusive club” are special, they are having the best life you could only dream of and then what happens to you? You feel resentful of your own life and you start comparing your life or people in your life to that “standard” and thus become ungrateful. You may even resent these people in the “exclusive” list because you think they have cornered the world’s resources – and it is this thinking that breeds scarcity
