There will be no personal nor direct attacks on anyone and I would ask that you please try to keep down the loud cheering and the clapping. There will be no booing and no unruly behavior. With that, this is painful and it will be for a long time. After all, these are a couple of high-stepping turkeys and you know what to say about a high stepper. No step too high for a high stepper. This is Midday Mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM Talk 1065. Well Sean's a tough guy. I mean I think everybody knows that. You know Sean, he took some licks, he hangs in there. Yeah what's wrong with the beer we got? I mean the beer we got drank pretty good don't it? Did you hear what I said? So this is a great council. I had no dollar bounce in. That doesn't stop. If you don't like it, you're bad. Last question. Were you high on drugs? Last question, kiss my ****. All right, where we go, FM Talk 1065 at Midday Mobile. We made it to Friday. Glad to have you all along. Another couple hours of live local talk. You know how to get in touch with us. The phone number, the text line both 34301063430106. You may want to call or text today's program for Midday Mobile. But remember, seven days a week, 56 hours a week of live local shows that come from our studios here every day of the week. We're live, so it could be something tomorrow, Sunday, Monday, whatever in the evenings and the mornings. I keep that number handy. And a reminder too, when you have the FM Talk 1065 app that lets you stream the station and do umpteen other things with that app, you can also use that microphone icon on the front page to press that. You talk into the phone, records message, emails it to the show. And we can play it back here on the air. Also, as we look at the schedule for the weekend, the Roy Martin Young Anglers Tournament. The kids will be fishing tomorrow. A little update here. If you haven't done this before, the well, you have to have your ticket for the big rodeo that we're a week out from. But for the Roy Martin Young Anglers Tournament, if you want to buy it down there at the rodeo site, you know, when y'all are fishing or something, it's okay. They're not particularly strict on the rules. We just want to make sure the kids get out there fishing and enjoy it this weekend at a dolphin island for the Roy Martin Young Anglers Tournament. All right, as I bring my guest on here, I'm going to read a text as we do. And this is the the last text in the stack here. This is Chris is Chris from Orange Beach said, "I'm at Spanish Fort coming to Mobile doing 30 miles an hour westbound." What a perfect transition to come into a discussion of the I-10 Mobile River Bridge Project and AO1's Congressman Jerry Carl joining me with some really good news. Congressman, good to see you. Great to be here, Sean. It's a great Friday for the Gulf Coast, but how about a doubt? It is. It is. It is a number here that, you know, you've rolled out on Twitter, the federal funding coming to the project that we've been asking about how much of this and that. Give me the number. $550 million. It's a big, quite honest, we'll assume for $500 and we wound up with $550. This is out of this project. So we've been talking about this project, it's a combination of different funding sources. But this is the, I mean, the Infragrant was a big deal before, but this is much bigger than the Infragrant. Yeah, this is some permanent money that that'll get us kicked off. It's, you know, we on the federal side have been working on it for four years, if not longer. It's not longer. And that's one thing to know that this thing, while y'all made the announcement today and this big announcement is out there, this didn't just like fall in jail on Wednesday. Everybody thinks, you know, what you see on TV, that's the only thing that, you know, your congressman's working on reality. We've got, we've got multi things going. This is one of them. This is a great example of how team effort works in government. This is a local and a state job. The bridge is I'm not going to take anything. They make the decisions. We had one simple task in Washington is go see how much money you can raise this to help. So between coach, between Katie Britt, between myself, you know, we've all worked together and 550 is the magic number. So, you know, it can't one person take credit for all of it. It just doesn't work that way. But it's when you got the chemistry and you can all work together. It's when great things happen and we've done now it's back. You know, we got the 550. It's back to the governor. It's back to local government. And let's let's start driving some parlance as quick as possible. Okay. Then I was going to get to that in a little bit, but I'll ask the question everybody asked when when will we get that is not related in term. And that's for the state and that's for the contractors and that's for local government. I mean, both sides of the bay. I mean, what what if you think of the highs and lows that we've had on this project? We've had great ideas and think we're at the at the finish line in reality. We have to start back over. You look at the local government on both sides of the bay. I mean, they have been they have been incredibly focused on making this project work even in the bad times. So although they get we've gotten some negative feedback, even when I was on county commission, they would fuss out of us about every listen, every time there's a backup on the bayway, your county commissioner and local government get a phone call. That's something that's the people you can reach pretty easy. So it's back in their court now where it should be and let them make the decisions of when. Okay. So as funny and by the way to Chris from Orange Beach, Matt from Daphne just texted in said Chris, he just got to the tunnel took 25 minutes from Daphne. So I'm sorry. Hey, when why wife got the message this morning, I told her she was danced around in the kitchen. Every time she gets backed up on the bayway, she calls me. So it's like, Hey, honey, can you do something about this? Right. So this this 550. So we had obviously, for grant money before, Aldot had pledged money as well. That project was going along. Sorry. And then it got stopped because of the spending and where it was. And did they have enough to finish out? But they had done some things, even though we didn't see brick, we didn't see rebar, we didn't see concrete, didn't see rebar, they had done some things. So we don't have to redo. Right. It's going to pick up there. I do not know every detail. I can't tell you that again. I've had one focus and one focus on only raises much money we could on the federal side. I'm curious. This is something I'm throw a curveball at you. We haven't had a chance to talk about this, but the Chevron verdict that came down last week, you should look over here. You should look over here at my notes. Congressmen, because I said, what did the Chevron decision being giving liberty to back to the people and not to these agencies make a difference in this because you had said before that Chevron decision for the Supreme Court is before that. This is why they had said that the elevation of the Bayway had to be right. Yeah. It had our seven feet. It had to be raised. And the study was, is it easier to raise what's there nine or 10 feet or totally replace it? And it was basically the same cost. I don't know how it's going to affect this. Steve Scalise, I was talking to Steve on the floor yesterday. And I thanked him for an article he put out, an article, basically, he's telling every committee to go back and look at all these government agencies and see if they've overstepped. So we certainly will do it on this project too. Because that could be, I mean, I'm not a construction guy. It could be a lot of money. It could affect our snapperfishing now. Come on. We can get into a lot of areas here that could possibly affect. So you got your local government, excuse me, your local representative in District 1 has got to push these issues and dig into every, every issue and see if it affects it. Now with the, if they could go back and have it, this is just a lot of wonder in here. But what Congressman and I are talking about is this, you know, one of the big costs as this, this project started off, I've been doing this long enough and you were on the commission at that point, I'm on the radio. It was an $800 billion project. Right. Okay. And then it went to a billion, then 1.5, then two, and then 2.5. So these things are added on, replacing the Bayway, redoing the Bayway had to be a significant part of the cost. So if possibly, because of the share, we don't know, but that could you go back in and say, hey, we don't have to tear down the whole Bayway, we can just expand or do these extra lanes. To me that, now we bring that 3.5 billion or whatever that number, we're bringing that back down some. Well, I won't overstep my boundaries here, but you know, you got a, you got a Bayway that's 50 plus years old. Concrete is only supposed to be 50 years. That's true. Some of concrete is a rebar on the inside actually rust and it loses that strength in a rebar. It will actually rust and it'll pop pieces. You get a look up under that bridge, probably scare you to death. I'm fishing under that bridge. Okay. Well, you'll see big chunks of concrete missing is because that rebar and especially ice, we'll separate that concrete. So it's going to have to be replaced. If we can raise the money, get it all done, we need to get it all done. I'm full, but again, that's not my call. It's state call. All of our elected officials in local government. So this fine 50, Kevin, so this is with the federal. We still have Aldot's pledge. We still have the Infogram money. Where does this leave us in the back of the napkin math or the back of the envelope math? Like we're, we still got a long way to go. We do, but you know, they are looking to try to find some ways to cut some of the cost and trim it down. So that's, that's a good thing. Also, you know, nobody's wanting the toll. So I mean, there's some. How is this going to be done without a toll of some sort? I mean, I don't know. I don't know. And I think, I mean, I would like no tolls. Yeah, true. I was one of the people that he's done an incredible job of keeping us all put together on this project, keeping us all focused in our own lanes. I think she would like for it to be settled before she leaves office. Sure. And I would love for it to be settled before I leave office, but that's not going to happen. But, but it's the timing on it, I think it's just sped up dramatically as of this 550 million dramatically. It has increased. This is speaking of leaving office. I mean, it's the heck of a legacy congressman to get that funding through. Well, that's quite an honor. Thank you. It's a heck of a thing because there's a lot of us didn't think it could be done. And this is, you did. You said it's behind the scenes things like there's what we see going on in front of the cameras and the, you know, these talking points things. And then there's like the other business of Congress asked working with the senators for yourself after the state says, go find the money. Where do you find the money? I mean, how do you, how do you start making the case for what we believe is the right thing, but you got to talk to a lot of other people that aren't from AO1 to make them decide this is the right thing. It's just communications. It's, you know, going and talking to them one on one, and you know, they say, I'd love to help you, but I've got this problem. Well, let me help you with that problem. You help me with my problem. I mean, that's just the way government is set up to work. I mean, you try to help one another. And even if you can help that other congressman, at least he knows you made the effort. I mean, I've got some, I've got some big things coming up, Sean, that I will be out of office that you'll see happen in January and February, excuse me, March and April, that I will not get credit for. But I promise you, we've got some huge things coming for the Gulf Coast that I've been working on for four years. Yeah. And these things don't happen overnight. No, they don't happen overnight. They don't. And that that's the discouraging thing from, from a elected official position, is your judge by what's been seen and done on TV and reality. The best work has been done away from the media because you don't need their influence when you're having these conversations. Yeah. Well, it true, true, but it's a, you know, in all these conversations. Let me rephrase that. Well, yeah, but the way Washington works, I mean, it's amazing to stay quiet because nothing stays quiet in Washington. I mean, the amount of leaks I've gone, you know, if I ran, if I ran a, you know, whatever, a local, you know, chapter, the water buffalo society, the same way with that many leaks, they kick you out. I mean, it's so it's funny. We'll go on a conference meeting and they'll ask us to leave our phones outside and we leave our phones outside. And the media up there is texting what we're saying word for word moments after it's said, I'm talking seconds. And it's a way to, I don't know where the leaks come from. And it's on both sides. It's not just Republicans, it's Democrats also. Right. It's just, it's just legal. All right. Coming right back with a once congressman, Jerry Carl, 550 million, even for a hay seed like me, that's half or half a billion dollars for the bridge project. Big day. This is Midday Mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM Talk 1065. Right. 1222 FM Talk 1065 and Midday Mobile on this Friday, going to have you along Congressman Jerry Carl or guest in studio this hour. Irish Indian asked for the text line. I asked the congressman if he's going to get back into politics after his term is done at some point and thank him for what he's done for us here as well. Oh, but what what an honor. It's been such an honor to serve district. Well, it's been an honored serve Mobile County. I'm going to find a place to serve the people in district and in this state in some form or fashion. If I have to go sweep floors, I'm going to serve. It's in my blood. It's it's it's it doesn't have to have a title. It doesn't have to have, you know, all the grander and fancy things that go along with it, but I love serving people. So I will find a place to serve somewhere and you'll make that announcement here. Yeah, you're my you know, I've always had that deal, right? Yes. I think you're the first one I call on January 6. That's correct. So yeah, we will, you know, if you're just going to be sweeping up, you're going to come make that announcement. Hey, I'm good with a broom now. Okay, don't underestimate me with a broom. The also people look, okay, we answer the question. You don't know really the decision for the start date is state state. Yeah. So that's where we need to leave it. Okay. So y'all got any other questions on this, but we'll probably direct those towards the state. But 550 million coming to the i10 Mobile River Bridge project. That's some what we call that fault and money. That's some fault and money. That's some serious fault and money. That's a, that's a, you know, a mule choker right there. That's over, that's over half a trillion dollars. Half a billion. Yeah, I have a billion. A billion. Yeah, here I am. I'm sitting in a population. You're still, you're still in Washington mode. Yeah, trillions are thrown around. But in the real world, half a billion is a lot of money. You know, I finally got to play tourists last week and I got to go and see them watch and make money. And I got to go to the museums and do the things that everybody gets to do. Right. I never have time. What an experience watching them make money. That is crazy. I've never seen the videos. Oh, you need to come up. I'll get you. I want to watch. Yeah, I want to watch them make money. You've had that might want to slow down. Y'all quit making, we're making so much. Y'all easy. Well, you know, they only make what's ordered. Right. So they've got just pallets and pallets and pallets of hundred dollar bills and twenty dollar bills. Yep. It's just, I want to, you know, just the spending is the problem. It is the problem. All right. I would ask you, it's more Washington's stuff too. And I have been ripping on this this week a bunch because I most likely goes to the Senate to die. The SAVE Act that y'all passed even with five Democrats voting with the Republicans, the SAVE Act coming through the House, give me your take on the SAVE Act. SAVE Act makes sense. All we're doing is making a public statement. It says you have to be a US citizen to be able to vote. It is the law. There's already a law on the book that says that, but we have states that want to supersede that and overstep that. And they have the right to make that determination according to their state laws. If they want to do it for state elections, correct, but not a federal election. And we're simply trying to send a message of we know and we're watching California and Arizona are two of them that seem to be a problem. But the SAVE Act, and I don't know if it'll go anywhere in the Senate, that's the frustrating part about what we do. We do some great things that the president says is going to veto it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Why would you veto that? How would you vote against it? That's kind of where I am. And I do wonder, I'm not naive, obviously, with the politics of Washington. But in this case, you're looking at the argument made by many on the left against the SAVE Act has been, hey, this doesn't happen very often. This is so very, very rare. They're making a law that's for political, and I see sometimes when laws are moved, especially at the state level, for political reasons, just a show bill or something. But in this case, if it's this rare, rare thing, then what do you care? Democrats, if it's not affecting anybody, then what do you care? As an American, forget about being a Democrat or Republican, citizens should vote. Don't you want the citizens to vote? I'm with you. I don't get how this is contentious. Throw that out the window. As an American, Americans' voice is to be heard. Yeah, I mean, it goes back to my beef with the census. If the census wants to take in the count of undocumented and legal immigrants and all that in there, that's fine. But if you use that to a portion vote, that makes no sense because the apportionment is for citizens' representation, not people. So I've done a lot of genealogy studies, and you go back and look at it all census, and they did document these people being non-citizens. And it's okay to know who's there, but don't apportion the donor there from a historical standpoint is incredibly, it needs to be there. So we know where our ancestors actually came in and did stuff, but that shouldn't count towards getting government funding. I mean, because you look at California, California's population is probably 60, wouldn't be that much, but probably 30 percent of their population is undocumented people. And you look at it for government funding, but then also when you apportion the size of a district, you start getting more representation for a state based on people that aren't citizens in the state. I don't know how this seems like eighth grade, government class, where so California increases by 770,000 people, they get a new representative in Congress, somebody's going to lose a representative in Congress. So by counting those, and it's a sense, is never hear the Republicans say, oh, let's count the illegals are the people that are undocumented that are here, you don't hear that a Republican party. It's all we're asking for is a fair, and I think the American people are that way. I don't think it's any different in California, so our mobile Alabama on one thing. Let Americans vote on American issues. Matthew says on the text line, where's the law that grants illegal immigrants or a legal guest in our country, the right to vote? American citizens of legal aid should be the only ones to vote just because you're on US soil on election day doesn't mean you can cast a ballot. It makes no sense to even have thought to allow anybody else to vote. Well said. I don't think that's, I get it politically why it would help Democrats, but it should be a nonpartisan issue. It should just be basic civics. Your citizens vote, non citizens don't vote. Okay, but start today. Think about where we're at today in the federal election system. How else are they going to win it with the president that they've got? Well, I wouldn't ask that. So are you still, you know, you're not been talking about this for quite a while. You came in way early. Three years? Yeah. And said, hey, Biden's not going to be. He won't be on the ticket. He won't be on the ticket. Here we are. Check our pushing mid, you know, mid July, look in November. Are you still, you still believe Biden's not on the, because I'm going to stick with my gosh, I hope I'm wrong. I really do. I hope he stays on the ticket. He is so beatable right now and he's pulling down everybody's numbers crawl. I mean, we've got Democrats, we've got Democrats in the house that are just scrambling, trying to figure out how to recover. It's been funny this week, all the news media up there, they usually follow us around, especially the ones that make a lot of noise. You can't find any Republicans being interviewed. They're all following the Democrats around. So it's been nice watching. It's been kind of quiet. Oh, yeah. It's really nice. All right, coming right back with more with Congressman Carl and your questions at 3430106. This is midday mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM Talk 10065. We hope the segment of the show brought to you by my buddy Trey at 1 800 got junk. Been doing it. Well, longer than we've been doing this radio station, 16, 17 years now getting rid of junk and mobile in Baldwin counties. And the nice thing is, first of all, that they do a great job. They're the kind of people that you don't mind in your house or your business or wherever you're getting the junk removed hometown crew. But on top of that, the fact that you get a real appointment, I know I go on and on about this, but just dealing with something with my mom the other day, they want to do these things where, yeah, you need to be at the house between like 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, they'll show up at some point. I mean, who can do that, right? You got work, you got family, you got your job. 1 800 got junk's a different system. When you go to make the appointment to have them come get rid of the junk, wherever you're getting the junk on, they find the day that works for you, the time that works for you. And they set an appointment. So you can like have a life and go to work and then say, well, I need to do it after work. And then you meet them there. And all you do is show them the junk you went gone. It could be boxes in an attic. Heck, it could be a above ground swimming pool and a swing set in the backyard. They can handle everything from small to big there. But they show up, you point the stuff, they quote you the price right there on the spot. You say, yes, they get to work and it's gone then. So you got junk that's in your way, something that you got to get done. You've been saying, I'll get around to it. We'll get around to it now and make that appointment with 1 800 got junk. They're online at 1 800 got junk dot com or pick up the phone. The name is the number 1 800 got junk, right? Continue our conversation with AO1's Congressman Jerry Carl. So the you're talking about the fact that the media is hounding the Democrats because they're all trying to get somebody to say another person to say he shouldn't run shouldn't run. Oh, yeah, and that's that's what they're trying to do. They're trying to build as much pressure as they can. You know, the word in Washington is if he can survive the Monday, he'll be okay because we've got the convention coming up and the Republicans will start taking some of the attention away from from him right now. Because the world's laser, but not just us, the world. I mean, I did a swing to South America and met with governments in four different countries and they're not happy with us. They're not and that all leads up leads back to our leadership. So which would be Biden himself. So, you know, we've got a we've got a hostile world out there and we don't need like China coming in and taking over Panama Canal. That's one of the issues I've been dealing with on a daily basis. We don't talk about no, they've been putting that footprint down there. Yeah. So, so, so, you know, we've got to get real cozy with the government down there and try to help them to keep that canal open. It's so important to our to our military strategies. So, but but this president's weak. I mean, he, he wasn't running off the rails. That's why I told you three years ago, he, you know, he won't make it on the ticket. Even the Democrats are not that silly. But they let it go a long time though, believe in them. Well, they may not vote for true quote, they may not vote for Republican, but they're not going to vote at all. And I think he's going to play a huge role in Dobson's race here in District two. Okay. That's going to be gigantic. We need about four hours to. Okay. I know when to get let me go one quick international question will come back to a L2. You mentioned China does that weakness? Does that worry you that this is if you're the Chinese, if you're she you go, this is probably when it with all this tumult there, if we're going to make a move on Taiwan, the time is now. Do you think they're, do you fear that at all? Or do you think it's just saber rattling how the Chinese? I think it's saber rattling. I, you know, I go back, I'm trying to use common sense when I talk about things, but if you got 60% of your income coming from one country, do you basically want to declare war on that one country? It doesn't make sense. But I wonder if they think we're so addicted to them with that, that they make that move. And we still maybe for a year or two ago, no, we're not going to buy your products. And then after a year, they're they're historians. Look back at World War II, when we sent all the males overseas to fight and all the female state here and built bombs and and ships and airplanes. We're we're tough breed of people. Americans are. And we're proud of that. And it it will we'll come together when we need to come together. They're no fools. Now they know that. That's why they scare me. But it's a whole lot easier to go to a Panama government and work with them. Most people don't know, but the Corps of Engineers here mobile or the ones you're seeing. Yeah, they're doing the repair work to the canal down there that the Chinese actually messed up. So, you know, let's be proud of what we've got and who we are in the direction we're going and try to get along at the same time. That's what Trump's been saying, you know, strength, strength is what deters them. And we're on World War II. I mean, we talked about F 16 fighters being shipped out. I was in a preparation meeting and it came across my phone night before last. That's scary. I don't know how the Russians are going to take that. Okay, we'll stay on this for a second because it's something I've talked about this week. Exactly that. Watching the NATO meeting, you know, it that Overton window, the real stat gets turned up, you know, the Russia invades Ukraine. And we're going to do just that. We're going to give them defensive weapons. And then while we're giving them high Mars, but they're high Mars, they can't use to go outside them. And then they can use them a little further. And then this thing, it keeps moving. We've seen this in conflicts. This country's been in. We come out and say, well, this is all we're doing. And, you know, two months later, the Overton would have moved and now we're now this is now normal. And this is now normal. So with these F 16s, letting the Danes send the F 16s in the Ukraine and we're going to backfill. So that's American at a certain point is NATO and this conflict going to drag American troops into this conflict. The direction we're going, yes. I mean, I don't like I want it to I want peace. I want this to stop. I don't want to marry. You know, it's just like everything I deal with in Washington, DC, all the issues that we have to fight, all the things that we want to get done. I go and sit down with both sides. You have to you have to bring you have to come together and you have to you have to understand both sides have got to be able to declare victory in some way, in some portion of that is just negotiation. And I think that's why Trump's been saying I can have it settled in 24 hours. Well, I could to if I could get on both the table and get the cameras out of the room and let's just be grown man. Yeah, I mean, just to sit and say little on the Donbas and that but to say, oh, yeah, and Ukraine gets Crimea back to Russian to been in there. They have a huge base there. They're never going to agree to cry me out. Sure, and I agree with that. I mean, they got Crimea. They keep Crimea. You know, my gosh, you look at Russia and just I mean, just the toll in Russia, the amount of losses they've had, the amount of money they've poured into this. I mean, it's it's there is no winner. No, over there right now. But from this NATO, I'm tired of feeding it money. We we need we need 550 million more for our bridge project. Some people are asking here on the text line. Like, you know, somebody said earlier, where was it that? I have to see, but something to the effect. Yeah, Jeff saying, you know, we spend billions around the globe. Why can't we get this bridge done instead of wasting it? You know, even well, not Ukraine, but around the world. Why can't we get this bridge done? So in preparations of the night, we were arguing over peanut butter. And the the the Democrats wanted to she wanted an extra 173 million dollars for a program to up the program that's already there to send peanut butter. Now I love my farmers and I want to ship as much peanut butter as we can. But we need that 173 million to be spent here in America. We got in debt. We got a we got a huge debt that we need paid down. I don't want to talk about shipping more peanut butter to a third world country when when we've got problems here. And we took stand on on the and the appropriations and we were able to beat that one down. But the Democrats, they're spending is just crazy, crazy. We have to spend money. We have to keep this government moving. We have to to back some of these programs we've got. But but the stuff that that this president's got us into and Ukraine's a great example, I voted for the first package of money. I think a lot of people looked at it first. Well, no, I was told we had to get the grain out because that that fed 17% of the world. I bought into that and had to get to Africa and all the people there that needed it. Right. Yeah. Right. And and and and it all and I went Ukraine. I'm not like I understand Ukrainians. I mean, if somebody's invading my country in my in my town, I'm will fight like a dog. Well, right. But that's at a certain point, that's Ukraine. How where's the where's the end of this? There's not a plan. That's the problem. There's not a plan. And we keep moving the amount of involvement that we think is okay. At first, if if if early on in Washington, they had rolled out the amount of involvement, we just came out of this NATO meeting with y'all to said, no way. They just turn up the heat a little bit at a time. And then we end up in a dang war with our boys and girls in a place. So we train, we told Biden, we told him very early on when this started, send in everything they need, not troops, send the planes, send the missile, send everything they need. Let's get it this over with quick and swift. But we didn't. We do the drag it out. This is figuring out dragging it out. That's a great example. This is Vietnam over again. Did we not learn either going to do it or don't do it? Yeah. But but but the money, we've just been bleeding, bleeding, bleeding. You're going to see you're going to see a new president. You're going to see Republicans take over the house. You're going to see Republicans or hold the house. You're going to see that you think the Republicans take the Senate? I think they will. I think they will. Now what majority? I don't know. It may be two or more. One or more is all we need. That's right. And you'll see the Ukraine, it's going to be a lot of incentive there to get it stopped. But I believe President Trump can do it. I mean, they're scared to death President Trump because Trump calls it like it is. Whether you like it or not, he calls it like it is. And he means what he says. Well, and I think the great story about peace, the great story I heard about Trump's when he met with ISIS leaders and he told ISIS leaders and we're going to back out of here and you're going to help us. We're going to get out of your country and you're going to help us like Syria or Iraq. It was Iraq. I believe he says, but you're going to you're going to help us here. And if one drop of American blood gets dropped, when you've got an all-out war, we're coming back and coming back. And when Trump stood up, he pulled a picture out and handed it to the ISIS leader and walked off. Well, the picture was of that guy's house. That's Trump. Right. I mean, he's cold. That's negotiation. There's your there's your message. You do it the way we agreed to it. That's the first place we're going bomb. And we didn't have that problem. Now, when Biden did what he did and pulled us out of Afghanistan, we lost 13 brave, brave Marines. It is a whole new whole new situation then. But but this president's just got so weak and I've said that from the strings. Congressman, I mean, I think I've I've truly come to the conclusion that Obama is still in office. It's the third term of Obama. Yes. I firmly believe that and they're trying their best to prop up and they'll they'll they need him to win. So Harris can be become president when Biden steps up and says, I've got dementia and I can no longer serve. Right. Would you probably be the if the day after swelling in, swearing in. So it's a it's a cat and mouse game right now. I think Trump's going to win it. I think the momentum's there. I'll be in Milwaukee with with the other delegates next week. We're going to have a great week. We're going to come either strong. We're going to continue doing what we're doing. But folks, we're not going to win unless you vote. People get to listen to this. If you don't vote, we don't win and don't take for granted just because Trump's going to win Alabama. They don't need your vote. We need every vote to turn out. District two adopts and we need every vote to turn out. We've got to keep that seat in the house. It is so important for the state of Alabama to have that seat and make that statement. I mean, I lost my seat because a district got got split up and I lost to to a fair guy. I mean, it was a fair fair race. I'm good with it. But that happened because you got the Democrat party wanting to take more of Alabama. I'm not going to give it up. Well, and it looks like, I mean, if you look, and this is, you know, this is that political science for what that's worth, if you look at the turnout of the primary, the number Democrats turned out that got figures through and the matter of Republicans turned out, they got Dobson through numbers are real close on turnout. Yeah. And I can't imagine that in the state that the Democrat party is in now, they won't lose some people to being just not motivated to come out. Well, if it's Biden on the ticket, yeah, won't be and if Trump's on the ticket, you're going to get a lot of people get out to vote against him just wouldn't vote. Well, you get people vote against him, but you also get people to come out before. Well, I don't think there'll be as many people vote against him. I think I think they just won't show up and vote at all. So do you think AO2 goes? I think she takes it. It's going to be close. I mean to the wire and everybody, we've got to get all our Republicans turnout and I'll do anything I can do to help her. She knows that from fundraising or speaking or doing anything I can do to make sure we keep that seat. It's important, very important to us. All right, coming right back more with Congressman Jerry Carl right here on Midday Mobile. You're listening to Midday Mobile with Sean Sullivan on FMTalk 1065. Call Sean now at 3-4-3-0-1-0-6. All right, I've got one segment left here with AO1's Congressman Jerry Carl, of course, big announcement today, $550 million federal money for the I-10 Mobile River Bridge project. A heck of a legacy, Congressman, heck of a legacy. It's a big deal. We see that construction actually happened, which will make me, it's going to lose me all my bets where it said it would never happen, but we'll watch it. I do what I can do, Sean. We'll go to the phones at 3-4-3-0-1-0-6 and Tuskers is up first. Hey Tuskers. Oh, hello, Sean. You're on the Congressman Carl. Yeah, first I want to say thank you so much for your service, Mr. Carl. Oh, thank you, ma'am. You got both of my votes. But the first time I was skeptical, but the second time I was all in for you, and I'm sad that you're not there now, but please keep fighting the good fight. But my question is, is if we get a new president, which hopefully will be Trump, how is that going to change? I mean, if the Republicans take the House and or the Senate, how will that change anything? Because the Senate, they bark so much and they never follow through with the bite. And I get that. And this really bothers me so much that, you know, come on, ma'am. Well, I'll tell you, my first two years in office, thank God, we had the Senate where it was. And we had Manchin in there. I mean, Manchin saved us from a lot of horrible stuff that the Republicans, excuse me, the Democrats wanted to do. If we can take a majority, it'll be a different, make a world of difference there in the Senate. And we've got some key players and coach Tuberville and Katie Britt, we can get some great things down for the state of Alabama. But the biggest thing you can do as a voter is when these folks, whether it is a teleconference or whether they show up to speak, go and let your voice be heard in a positive way. Don't go and trash them. I mean, nobody's listening to the trash part to be quite honest, but go until then, when you have concerns, they need to know that because we as elected officials are trying to figure out how to stay in office, you can't get things done unless you stay over a period of time. You can't get these big projects across the finish line in two terms, so much stuff that I've got going. So people say, well, I ought to have term limits. Well, Congress is only, you know, they rotate a third every two years. So there's a huge turnover, but the Senate, they will work with us. So we keep the House, we increase our numbers in the Senate, and then we've got a president in place. We can streamline some of this stuff. You can see some of these EPA rules. You can see so many of these rules and regulations being ruled back, rollback. And I don't mean hurt our environment, but there's so many things out there that are just under the Chevron law that were just created. Someone decided, oh, this is what we're going to do today. And I hear it all the time from a special construction field. Tuscers, thanks for the call. Thank you. Before we wrap up to talking about things that have happened, I started Monday's show or Tuesday. I had been rains on and we're talking about a couple different things, but we came back to the underwater forest, something that, gosh, he and I've been talking about since, well, when you're on county commission, you know, for Congress and to get this legislation through and to see the kind of votes that came in, congratulations. Well, I appreciate that. That was, that was a lot of work. I worked the Republican side and the Democrat side. I had no idea it would be such a controversial issue. But the the main of people that voted against it were Republicans. And for whatever reason, I think they don't understand. I still go back to this thinking because we can fish this thing. We can dive this thing. It's just saying, hey, people can't use salvage rights to take the cypress dumps away and go sell them. But we did it. We did a good job. We talked to both sides as many people as we could. We got our friends on the Democrat side to talk to more Democrats. We got Republicans to talk more Republicans. We got leadership to support it. I mean, that's key is leadership support it. When they say we support it, you know, 90% of the people will open their minds to it. But it's such a, I mean, to save that place from being harvested is just absolutely incredible. And we want to appreciate that until probably years down the road. Right. And they'll look back and go, we almost lost this. Well, yeah, we almost lost this. And that's why, you know, the coordinates have been kept secret because, you know, before that, with salvage, you know, that you can find stuff and take it. But with this bill, we're going to encourage people to experiment and go out there and look at it. I can dive on and fish on it. I mean, the fish count out there. It's incredible. So we're going to share that. That's all part of what we're going to protect, the thing that brings us there. Right. From companies going in and harvesting that 60,000-year-old cypress tree. It's amazing stuff. And if anybody, I urged them the other day, they hadn't seen it to go watch Ben's movie. Oh, yeah. When they pulled the cypress out and take that sample piece out and you watched the sap come out of the 60,000-year-old stuff. That's drastic. Yes, Jurassic Park. I mean, what could we do from that sap? I don't know. It's just an amazing thing to have there. And obviously, it is a good thing because it doesn't cost the state any money, but it can make more money for the state. Now, if somebody the other day did say something fair, all we need is for traffic. People come down to go, "Shores, I get you all." But it will bring, you know, tourists that will come in to dive something like that. That's so very special. And that's just something that we have with the people. Sean, think about it. If it's a half a square mile, if it's that, how much more is under there? Right. And this is one of those places that the storm comes in, expose some of it, and might cover up something that's constantly exposing new areas, covering old areas. But now we've got the sense of way bigger. Now we've got the sense of protection in Washington. So if another area gets uncovered, we can add that. This gets covered up. It could be a storm or two later, it gets uncovered again. Sure. Yeah. I mean, what a cool thing to be able to go down there and put your hands on a cypress something that says, "Oh, that's that old." I want to dive on it. I think my divers permit still works, but even as old as I am, let me go. You know what we don't have to do now? They've got computers. You don't have to do your dive tables or any of that. I got certified back in the '80s when we actually had to do the tables. I've got the computer, does all of it. We're gonna make a dive on it. You're your self-generation. Listen, I went from the actual dive tables back in 1983 to now with the computers doing it. I learned to fly that way, too. Everything was manual. We had to calculate. Yes. The idea is my late father, who was a pilot, the idea of just popping up an iPad and doing stuff on that to him seemed like alchemy. No, I'm all for the advances. Don't get you wrong, but it was different. Yeah, it was. That's okay. So y'all head back to Washington when? We do. Next week we'll be in Milwaukee. We'll be in Milwaukee. And then the week after that, we're back. We've got two tough weeks after that. The preparations, we've got all 12 bills done. We finished the last one Wednesday night. I don't know. It was 11 o'clock or so. That was a 15-hour day. Wow. And then we argue over the same thing on every bill. It's just, it's amazing how this government keeps doing what it's doing. But we want, we got some great bills. And of course, the first one to bring the floor gets voted down by handful of our own people. But we'll go back and work on that. We'll figure out what their problems are. And as we depart here, you're going to the convention. Do you have any advance warning for who the VB will be for us? I don't have a clue. The only thing I think, I think it's going to be somebody that no one's looking at. It's going to be a typical Trump. It's going to be a sleeper. It's going to be a curve ball from coming straight up towards your back. Okay. All right. That's my guess. There's a prediction. We'll check that next week. Congressman, thanks for your time. Thank you, brother.
