and it's time for the FM Talk 106-5 Fishing Report, brought to you by Grandr Marine, McCoy Outdoor Company, McConnell Buick, GMC, and we get to talk to my man, Captain Bobby Eberscato from A Team Fishing Adventures. Hey Bobby. - God's hard to believe is it young anglers tournament weekend. This weekend there, can you believe it? - Yeah, I was saying that the other day, I think the scientists say that's 'cause we're getting old, the time moves so fast, but I kind of woke up and here we are, Roy Martin coming up this weekend, and then we're just, well I mean tomorrow, we're just a week out from the start of the big rodeo. - Yep, that's right, man, I'm telling you. This Saturday, I think we're gonna have some fairly decent weather too, thank the Lord, because I really, it's like we used to always say, "I don't really care about the big boys, "the big people, the grown peoples." I want the kids to have fun, I want the weather to be good, I don't really care what happens next weekend, you know. Man, it looks like we might have pretty good weekend. Not a great tide, but we talk a lot about tide, I'll take weather over tide anyway. And as you and I have talked about multiple times over the years, just because you have a weak tide, doesn't mean that there's no fishing, because actually some places that you can really catch quality fish, fish a lot better on that weak tide. Places like the bay, the lower end of the bay, particularly around the Dolph N Island, Scholes and Bridge area. So there's a lot of opportunities to fish, but let's talk a little bit more about taking those young people out there this weekend, and number one, making sure they have fun, 'cause when they have fun, they're gonna, the next time you ask them to go fishing, when you get up in the morning, they're gonna be standing by the boat ready to go, and that's what we want to happen. You know, but the main thing is, you know, is you want action, especially with young people. Heck, you and I are maybe kind of older, young people, but we still like action, you know. So don't, you know, don't be, let's think maybe in terms of making sure that the corks going down and the rods are staying bent, when you have those young people on the boat, we all want to compete and everything. But again, you know, with the main goal of having them want to come back and fish next time, you want to have action. And so the best thing, west way to do that this time of year is to get around some structure, particularly if you can get some live bait, and either put it on a tight line or under a core. Corks are so easy to fish, because it's a visual stimulation. You don't have to worry about working a lure, or popping a cork, or any of that stuff. You can just drift those baits and on those weak tides, it's really not even a matter of drifting. And a lot of times that when the move the bait enough, so you don't have to worry about even being technical enough to let line out or any of that kind of thing. So it's a fun way and an easy way to really catch a lot of fish and still have a really good opportunity to catch some quality fish. - So you're talking about places with this nip tide, that kind of compresses, you know, the places that normally get too much current on a big tide. So I mean, you go into the shoals and just putting shrimp out on a cork, or go into the rigs, you know, I want those kids, like you said, I mean, to see cork go down. - Those kind of places you just mentioned are just classic places to fish on a weak tide, like we're gonna have this weekend. And baits you just mentioned is gonna get the action and the quality done. You know, if you can get your hands on croakers, croakers fishing with, you know, really young people are inexperienced anglers, a little tricky, but this time of year too, when you put that croaker out there, again, you've still got the opportunity to have action, but still maybe catch good quality fish too. But you never, ever, ever go wrong with shrimp. So if you're invading on what you're gonna carry, you know, don't spend all morning chasing croakers around. If you can get your hands on a bucket full of shrimp and get them on those slip corks or you can put them on a tight line out there, that's gonna get all of the, just checked for you when you have those young people on the boat. - I appreciate it. And listen, Bobby has the experience with young people on the boat. I had gotten all the days he does per year, speaking of which somebody wants to get a trip booked with you here. - You can do it, Bobby. - Just go to 18fishing.com, Sean. And we, by the way, we got our summertime special running right now. So if you wanna get out and we call it a beat to eat special and that's just kind of get out, get it done and get back in before it gets super hot in those storms, hit that's running right now. So you can check that out, it's posted up on our website, which is 18fishing.com. - Good stuff, Bobby. I hope those huge catch 'em this weekend. And next week we'll be talking big rodeo, brother. - Sounds good, my friend. I hope you have a great weekend. You too, there goes Captain Bobby Epperskato.
