But Reggie Jackson, I think dropped on Friday that he was being traded for just a handful of picks. And it's $5 million salary as well, which I thought was, depending on how it all shook out, in a lot of weird ways we might've needed Reggie Jackson to be the seventh or eighth guy. Or maybe at least a little bit of a, you know, somewhat of what he was this year. So, to see him go like that, I was a little bit surprised. What I'm kind of thinking when I'm hoping it's not true, Alex, was that move was to set up something else that never went down, that never went down. - Are you talking about Russell Westbrook? - No. - Oh. - I'm saying something that maybe they were shooting, maybe they're in the bridges discussion, maybe they're here, maybe they were there, maybe bridges told them, hey, I will, don't trade for me because when I become a free agent, I'm signing with the Knicks anyways. That was some of his leverage and stuff that he was using. So, you know, you're shooting for the stars if you're the Nuggets a little bit, you know? Look at the stars, look, I never do that one right. Did I do it right there? I don't know. Anyways, KCP to Orlando, real quick, Olivia, what are your thoughts on KCP leaving the Nuggets? - I thought he was a good shooter. - Mm-hmm. What else did you like about him? He was a great shooter, Olivia's right. - Yeah, fit well, leader. - Do you think we'll miss him? - Yeah. - A little. - But what are the Nuggets going to do now? - Probably get a better player. - You hope a better player? Is there a better player left for them to get Alex? - At that position, I don't think so. - Is Clay a good, you know, Clay's going to the Hall of Fame. He's a top 100 player of all time. KCP is not near that accomplished of a player. He's a really incredible role player. We'll go down as a great role player of his generation. - For sure. - But who and what Clay is now? Still better, comparable, superior or less, what KCP is today? - I think Clay's better offensively. Defensively, I don't think he's as good, but maybe he's not even as good offensively as most people think. If he's only going to get what, between 13 and 15 million, we just saw KCP get 22 per year. So obviously, KCP's valued higher than Clay is. - Clay had a rough, rough season. They wanted a bench in. They couldn't get it right. I mean, he was a tough position for him to be in because he still expected to do a lot and was kind of having to share it with Andrew Wiggins and just he wasn't good. But the team wasn't near it. Good, look at the team. - Yeah, very consistent. - They were playing team though. Alex, like they were trash, to be honest with you. - Zero points in that playing game. - Yeah, but they were a trash team. He was still looked at to be the second or third best player on that team. Okay, let's add Clay to the roster right now, okay? Let's go into the future. - He's a good player. - Clay's on this team. Where does Clay, yeah, where does Clay rank? Got Yokich, got Jamal. He's not more important than Aaron Gordon. He's knocking at probably, get the same kind of minutes to, he's probably right there with Michael Porter Jr. Those two will be competing for, I don't know, touches for minutes. And that's a good problem to have. Maybe you offset a little bit of all the things Michael Porter Jr. is not bringing you with this big contract, with a great value contract like Clay, who wants to now go make the Warriors pay. Okay, I'm not gonna get 25 million. Okay, I'm gonna take some good money and go try to win somewhere else and make the Warriors really regret that decision. And the other only option I'm thinking is for him to be honest with you, is take a great deal to go to the Lakers, where his dad played. - Damn, I think that's gonna happen. I think the Lakers are gonna land him. - And shoot, that's kind of really it. If their Lakers are smart, you wouldn't, 'cause it's just another old dude. And again, the Lakers are, the Spider-Man's pointing at Golden State, they're looking at each other in the mirror. And he won't help them that much. He can help the Nuggets win at all. - That'd be great. - At least they have some shooting, absolutely. I mean, Christian Brown, he just doesn't shoot the ball well enough, I think to be a starting two guard. I think they're in trouble if that happens. - They're gonna have some scoring issues. - Unless, well, here's my thought here. - And the bench has no shooting either. - It comes back to Michael Porter Jr. again, because you saw Bridges. - Michael Bridges? - Yeah. - He's got some kind of, he's a better version of Michael Porter Jr. Not as a player, the value, the age, the situation, the upside, that kind of stuff. So there was a lot, I mean, he got traded for four first-round picks and a bad contract, which was a good contract to get rid of, essentially. - Like Boyon Bogdanovic also. - But he knew he could play, and he's worth the 20 million he's gonna make this year before the contract ends and you open up that money, the nets. You see what I'm saying? - So he's a movable too, so let's consider that. But comes back to, shoot, just finding our last between the dots. We're finding the right player, the right, there's still guys to be had, there's still deals to be had. Michael Porter Jr. I'm back here is, but Calvin Booth thinks in a couple of years could carry more water and weight. Can do more, is still ascending, and he's counting on it. And now the nuggets are counting on it, and now the franchise is counting on it. For him to, maybe a certain point, like I said, surpass Jamal Murray as that guy of, okay, who's gonna be shooting the ball 22 or 25 times? It's gotta be Michael Porter Jr., not Jamal. I don't know if that day will ever come, but I think there still may be some people in the organization. You got to trust the organization, that believe that Michael Porter Jr. is still ascending. - Yeah, I don't know, it feels like this yokey. - Because he could have been more moved, don't you think? - Yeah, he's still good. - He could have been moved for some value, I think. - Yeah, I think that they're just the max contract scares teams away all the time. It's so hard to tread that max contract. - Yeah, but you're already only a couple years left on it. And he's still the right age. And some people might think, oh man, if he's the man, then he can do more. Who's muffer, Michael Porter Jr.? - Yeah, I don't know. - I just, I would like to see the maximize this window more. But I told him, Jalen Brown's the 12th best player in the world, and he goes, "Eh, hmm, I'm not sure. Roll my eyes, I'm not sure about it, the whole thing." He thought it was round on the 20s, nah. We just proved otherwise. - He played like it. Definitely. - Eastern Conference Finals MVP, NBA Finals MVP. - It's not just about the style or certain things, about that stout, stocky defense. He's a more of a Paul George type of player than he is a prolific scorer, fill him up, Tatum type of, Luca type of story. - All around, right. - You know? - He did a better job on Luca than I think anyone else did. You know, playoff, so. - What do you think of the idea of starting Christian Brown and adding Russell Westbrook to the bench? - I would love that. What Russell Westbrook is-- - For 4 million here. - Yeah, absolutely could come play on this team. Would be super dynamic off the bench with the second unit. And I would probably do at this point, obviously, whatever you would ask him to do. I still think he's physically pretty gifted. He knows he can't shoot the ball and he won't try to do it. But you can't have Christian Brown who don't want to shoot the ball and Russ who don't want to shoot the ball and can't shoot the ball and then Aaron Gordon who really doesn't want to shoot the ball and can't shoot the ball that well. You get to a point where it's like, you know, what are we doing here? - Gotta have some shooting. - Yeah. - I like the dog mentality. I think he'd be really good for that reason, but. - For sure. We're a big piece away right now. We're a $25, $30 million player away from making everyone think, uh oh, you know, these guys are still the best. Who is that player, Alex? I don't know if it's out there right now. I still like the idea of Bogdan Bogdanovich in a trade. - Can you play on this team? - For sure. - As a starting shooting guard. I think that's the best thing you're going to get right now. - I'd be pretty good with that, actually. - Naji and a pick or two, I don't know. But I think Naji, you got to get him out of here. - I agree. I don't consider him as anything, you know, having any part of really any future plans with this team. They proved that last year. They showed, they told us that was a big mistake. It's going to be the backup four, backup Aaron Gordon. - Maybe yeah, kind of, we'll see, I guess. I hope he's ready to go, he looks the part. Some guys physically like, ah, no way, not yet. If ever, you know, yeah, this guy looks like a player. - Definitely. - He looks physically like an NBA player, and that's kind of probably, you know, 10% or 15%, 20% of the battle going into it right away. Okay, he could physically hang. And that's a big part of it. - So, yeah, Paul George to the Sixers. - Let's do more, yeah. Give me a little of them. San Antonio Spurs on a one-year deal. Gonna go play with Wembley, 39-year-old Chris Paul. - Graduate student coach, guy, player coach thing. - Yeah, the point God. - Yeah. - Tyree Smax, he signs the big extension. - So, well, let's talk-- - He's had a good off season. - They've had a great one. I don't know if they can get rid of Tobias Harris. - He signed, Detroit. - Oh, wow. - Yeah. - What a big upgrade for them. - They re-signed Ubray too, who was really good. - Ooh, great. - Ooh, great. (laughs) - Yeah. - They're the, I think that they're two in the East now, and I think the next, they're maybe tied with the Knicks. I love what the Knicks did. I love what the Knicks did. You just keep adding good smart players, tough players, playmakers, guys who could do lots of things. Bridges was a great addition for them. They're gonna be good. They're gonna be, they're gonna have a chance. - Locked up OG for five years too. - They'll have a chance to hang with those. Those are the three teams that matter in the East. I don't see anyone else that matters in the East. Don't say, don't say the Pacers. - As Milwaukee's following off that much? - Yeah, for sure. They're on a different tier now. They're with the Pacers actually, when it's kind of figuring out who's gonna be four, five, six, who's gonna be the last, you know, team to host in the first round of the playoffs in the East. But you know, the East has been so bad. It's nice to see the East back to them like, they, you know, you, you don't know what's coming. - Yeah, I agree. I agree. Yeah, what three, three good teams there in the East? I think, I think Philadelphia's probably at the best off season so far. I had, man, Paul George teaming up with Maxie and MB. That's a pretty good big three. - We'll set up a break. But Livia, I want to ask you some of your fun things you want to do this summer, or maybe like if we go to the mall, like what stores you want to go to or whatever, what's up with that? Because today we already got Alex, I got her this pink drink from Starbucks. Dad, can we get a Starbucks and get a pink drink? And I was like, yeah. So Livia, what do you think? What do you want to do? What would make for like a super fun week here of summer? Give me some of the things you'd be interested in doing. - Going to Bounce Empire. - Type Bounce Empire. That's a great idea. - Oh my goodness gracious. - But you know what, speaking of Bounce Empire, let's give them a shout out right now. You're up north, we're not, we're down south. But you know what, we rolled up north, we do it every now and then go to Bounce Empire, and it's great. It's like a super duper warehouse, not a warehouse, it's a thing of beauty, the beauty. The building's great. And you bounce for days. All kids, shapes and sizes, parents go, you know, enjoy yourself with a drink upstairs, birthday parties, all that kind of stuff. We don't have a deal with them. It's just great stuff I could say about them. I love those guys, Bounce Empire. They'd be great idea with us. - Go to the mall. - Okay, well when we go to the mall, we'll show up. - We'll show up. - What stores? - Clairs. - Okay. - Dillard's. - Nice. - Nordstrom. - What about Dix? Can I go look at some stuff? - The Dix. - Okay. Okay, cool, yeah. What about lunch today? What do you think? And should we do lunch? - Chinese. - Chinese. - Great choice. - Shoot. - I love me some Chinese food. - Sounds like a great day, okay. Um, 303, 831, 1340, the hotline as well as the text line. - Got annoyed given his Russell Westbrook on the nuggets. - What did he say? - Oh. - Russell Westbrook on the nuggets is blasphemy. As Stephen A would say, his crimes against Rocky should be put in prison. Don't need that flannel and skinny jeans wearing ass guy in a nuggets uni. This ain't LA. - Listen, everybody knows Russell Westbrook and I have a history that dates back 10 years. Drama in the locker room. I'm reporting for the Associated Press. I need a quote. He's wearing skinny jeans and a flannel. And I said, you got that Colorado thing going on, Russ. And he goes, F you. He told me to my face, F you. - F you bro. - F you, he said. I mean, Ryan, everyone's just looking at each other. And he goes, I'm like, what? F me. And he goes, this is LA. This is flannel. He says, this is LA. And I'm looking around the room. Anybody, Mike Rice. Hey, anyone want to get my back here? Listen, he did that, seen that one up in Boulder with my roommate with the mattress and they took it the whole thing, I seen it. - And he was like, F you, F that. This is LA. - And I was like, bro, okay, talk about the third quarter for a second. I need to get this quoted. And the rest is history. - Mike Rice was like, you know, Danny, that that is LA over there. And Mike's like, hey, man, he's trying to talk to you like that. I was like, thanks, Mike. I was like, thanks, Mike. But now Ryan Edwards was like, he was like the receiver in the replacements when the fight broke out. He was hiding behind like the locker jukebox over there. He probably goes off on reporters for anything. - You've seen that. - That's crazy. I asked you to my face. He said, this is LA. Okay. 10, 49 a.m. in the mile-high city, a little bit of time left. We appreciate interaction in the participation. Lots of ways to get involved with the show. You can hit us up still. Lots of movement in the NBA. It's been a wild one. Of course you want your team to make a splash. Add a guy. Don't forget we have four really good players in the starting lineup. Everybody knows that Michael Porter Jr. is capable of doing a little bit more. I think he's kind of, he's weird like, because if you've seen his podcast, he's like, seems wise. - Curious, Mike. - Yeah, he's curious. That's a great one. - Oh, that's the name of that. - I know, but like that's a great, that's who he is. He's got a lot of questions. He's trying to get it all figured out. He, you know, got a little Kyrie kind of some stuff in him. You know, people thought of like he was led by his dad, who's in his ear and all that kind of stuff. But that goes only so far. - He's smarter than anything. - Now Lonzo Ball's a big boy. I don't need you anymore, dad. You know? Or the big baller brand. So, I think Michael Porter Jr., what I'm trying to say is, has a couple more years before, I think he's got better basketball in him. And maybe a couple more years before he matures to his really grown man self, realizes this basketball game will come and go quickly. I know he's worth $100 million. He's got a lot of family drama stuff. He's been through all that kind of stuff. That's not his stuff. That's his brother's stuff. I go weeks and months without talking to my brothers at a time. And, oh, I love him. It's just that's life and that's how things work. So, he's got his own responsibilities, his own stuff to kind of live up to. And what I'm figuring here, what I'm being told by the Nuggets, is that they are keeping him. There's been no any smoke there of them trying to pursue a trade for him, nothing. And I think he's actually really tradable, to be honest with you. Not super tradable, but I think his contract and his age and the youth and the talent, the skill set, and now the championship experience, make him that contract moveable and the Nuggets have not tried to do it. And that's something to consider. How much better are the Nuggets if Michael Porter Jr. is 15 or 20% better of a player next year? That goes across the board. The stats, the minutes, the responsibilities, all of it. - I think a lot better. If you couple that with a healthy Aaron Gordon and healthy Jamal Murray, I think there would be a few wins better if he's really 15 to 20% better. - I don't think that's crazy to, you know, I think he's okay, let me give you another number to make it. - Last year is probably his best season in the NBA. - It was physical gifts and talents and who he is as an age, physical skill set talent. I think he's 80% of the player, he can be physically and gifted as according to his gifts. - He's got a little bit more. - He's 80% of the player that his gifts would allow him to be. If that makes sense. - So where could he get better then? - Oh, I think dedication to the craft, the team, not all the other things outside of basketball, toughness, pure straight toughness. I think he needs one of those mental head coach guys about being in the right place. He's, his whole bread and butter is shooting the ball. If he's not shooting the ball and goes in these deep, dark slumps and places, he can't get out of it because he doesn't, his game isn't about enough other things to make you valuable enough to where he's not hurting the team. So I think any great shooter should be with like a head shrink or coach guy just telling you like, bad shots, you know, bad thoughts gone. Next thing, the next good thought, you know, how the catcher and Major League two had to look at the playboy to get his head right, you know, to throw the ball right. - Oh, yeah. - You know, like whatever it takes. He started reciting like all these facts about the plate mates, you know, stuff like that. And it just helped him keep his mind. - You know, he rides motorcycles on Monday for shorts. - Yeah, and likes long walks on peaches and stuff like that. So, yeah, just kind of my thought there. And that's something the nuggets are banking on. They're not done yet. They'll tweak, they'll turn. They think it is Smith or a pick it can be Reggie Jackson. Okay, whatever. Well, I mean, type of player. They think they can get that for nothing. Okay, maybe you can, but I, I need horse, a horse for type of player. I need at least a horse for him. Maybe Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob, I think Bob Don is that kind of player. - I think so too. - I think he's perfect. I might need, hey, I might need him. Where's Mason Plumlee? - He just signed this morning. - Where, with who? - Last night, I was one year. - If it's for like three or four million bucks, I'm gonna be pissed. If it's for 10 or 11, nine million bucks, I'm gonna be like, nah, I bet you it's for four, five million bucks. - He signed with the Phoenix Suns on a one year deal. - How much? - That I do not know, vet minimum, vet minimum, so yeah. Loved him as a backup center. They also re-signed DeAndre Jordan over the weekend, one year for 3.6, player coach.
