Welcome to The Big Success Show. Today, we'll ring in the Olympics. The Big Success Show with George and Mary Lynn. It's 8808 and tonight at 808 and even down to 08 seconds, in China, the Olympics will start. Now, it's going to be a little earlier than that here in the States. But you know, Mary Lynn, I saw something interesting on the official site of this year's Olympics, which of course are in Beijing. They have a survey that shows 92% of respondents identified the Olympic rings correctly, which makes it the most recognized symbol in the world. And 86% of those questioned associated the Olympic rings with the world's greatest sporting event. I associate them with Audie. The car company. Oh, no, that's only four rings, isn't it? I'm going to ring you if you keep that up. But it just goes to show you the importance of branding and having something recognizable. And you know, if you do it right, you get to convey the message you want to convey with your brand. So the father of the Olympics, of the modern day Olympics is Pierre de Coubertin. Oh, nice. I don't know if I said that right or not. I've got my pinky out while I'm saying that. Pierre. And... But anyway, he came up with the five rings to represent the five continents that had embraced the Olympic movement. Wait a minute, Marilyn, five continents. That sounds kind of like funny math to me because as far as I know, there's seven comments. True, but Antarctica is omitted and Europe and Asia are considered one. I see. Very convenient, isn't it? Yes. Well, and the rings are linked, which represents the union of men. And women. Oh, that's true. Back then, you know, it was just men way way back in the day. And the colors represent the colors of the flags of all the countries at the time this symbol was created. And the rings are placed on a white background to represent all nations. Even those that weren't in the Olympics, huh? Yes. Well, what a guy that Pierre de Coubertin was. Yeah. Well, it just shows that there's a lot of thought that went into this logo that we see and we instantly recognize as the Olympics. And I think in a general sense, you know, we've kind of explained what went into it. But I think as a general sense, when you look at it, you get that instantly. Yeah, it is easy to get. And the symbol reinforces the message of the Olympics and the message of the Olympics reinforced the symbol. So think about your brand. What do you do? What problem do you solve? Make sure that that is incorporated into your brand imaging. And I think part of the reason we found this so actually, Marilyn, is because we're actually creating a symbol for big success now and everybody's going to get to see that here in a little bit. And there's so much thought that goes into it, you know, what does the shape look like? What are the colors? How can you make it easy to get? And it's coming soon. And I'm certain even Pierre would like it. Oh, we, we coming up comedian Jake Novak joins us for Jake's take a look at the sponsors of this year's Olympics. Today we're talking about brand imaging and the Olympic symbol and we're very fortunate to have Jake Novak with us. How are you doing, Jake? I'm doing really well. I'm trying to cobble together that 70 million dollars so I can be the official comedian of the Beijing alum. 70 million? Would that do it? Yeah. I'm just, I'm just a couple hundred, 100 million short. A couple hundred million short of 70 million. That's pretty good, Jake. Well, some other people. We find out like I have that kind of money. A couple of bookies are going to come after me. There you go. Yeah. Well, maybe make that your plan for 2016. Yeah. Something like that. Yeah. In Chicago, you know that would do it. Yeah, that's right. Well, because of the spirit of the Olympics, a number of companies do line up to become the official sponsors like you want to, Jake. And so you're going to share with us a little secret, the top five real sponsors of the Beijing Olympics. Yeah. Without these kinds of Olympics, just wouldn't be the Olympics. So the first one is HGH, which is the official steroid of the 2008 fake. That's right. Yeah, for their ads. Exactly. Widely used. Is that what the Olympic rings stand for? I don't know. What's the number four? Oh, well, this is a this one could be number one, but let's I had to put it on in the order of the money they paid out smog is the official pollution of the 2008. That's true. The NC Coca-Cola cans were the official pollution of the 1995. I heard the bikers are going to be wearing masks, actually. Yeah. Yeah, they showed up wearing black masks with with with a logo of the smog sponsor, of course. All right. Number three, Chinese made toys will again be the official choking hazard to the Beijing Games. They've been the official choking hazard of every Olympic Games of 1976. That's a lot of tradition for them. I'll start in Montreal. Yeah. Number two. Well, you know, you got to get the pets involved to the poison will be the official dog and cat food of the 2008 Beijing Games. So that's always exciting. All right. So the kid. And number one, Jake. Yes. The number one support is actually a dual sponsorship. Both of them had to get into this because this is the number one sponsorship and that would be night sticks and tear gas and they will be the official anti protest weapons of the 2008 Beijing. A lot of them. Yes. I think they're going to use those same tactics at our political conventions as well, right? There you go. Otherwise, there's no excitement. I mean, we've got it. That's something. I think actually most people will be watching the games in hopes of seeing protests because if you have the internet or if you have a radio or if you have, you know, one eye or two years, you're going to know who's won all these events about 12 hours before NBC broadcast. That's true. I think it's secretly hoping for a lot of protests in their craft mayhem. Jake is the guy who goes to the to the car race to watch the crash. That's right. That's what happens. Well, thank you so much for sharing Jake's take with us today. We appreciate it. It's always a lot of fun. Enjoy the games, everybody. All right. Thanks, Jake.
