>> Welcome to the big success show. Today, we'll talk about Backyard Bliss. >> The big success show with George and Mary Lynn. This past weekend, we took some of our own advice and actually had a little downtime, Mary Lynn. >> We could work ourselves to the bone. >> I think you're right. >> What happened last weekend was we just couldn't do it. We were planning on a working weekend, but Saturday came around and we said, "Wait a minute. Let's just take a day off and spend time together." >> So that's what we did. >> We hit garage sales. George, you're a great driver for a drive. I'm like, "George, there's another sign, go there, go there." And I love going garage sailing because you can find so many cute outfits and it's dirt cheap, I love that. >> Well, and we also followed that up with yet more shopping. Thank you very much, Mary Lynn. >> Well, see, here's the thing. We've got these big, gorgeous, old trees around our house. >> They are huge. >> Which means we often get limbs anytime there's a storm. >> Yeah, and we had a fellow who mowed our yard and unfortunately he had knee surgery and so we've got a different gentleman and so now our limbs aren't getting hauled away. >> That's right, but I have a love for fire. And I thought, "Wait a minute, we can burn these limbs." And then George, you're kind of cheap when it comes to charcoal. >> That's true. >> So what we did was we went shopping and found a fire pit that also came with a grill. >> That's right. >> So it's awesome. We can just burn the wood, which we get for free, instead of having to go out and buy charcoal. >> There was another adventure that went along with this particular day. We had to get a chainsaw. >> So now that is an adventure, Mary Lynn. >> We do have big limbs. And so the thing about the chainsaw was we got home, unwrapped it and we were missing some pieces. >> We should probably tell everybody, this chainsaw is like the size of a blow dryer, right? I mean, it's a tiny little chainsaw. >> Yeah, it's not big. >> But still a chainsaw nonetheless, I guess. >> Right, and so we had to go back to the store for that. Then we got home and we realized that it didn't come with the oil, so we had to run back to the store for that. And then we got home and we were just having a real difficult time putting this thing together. >> That's right, and we finally got it together, but it just proves the point of a friend of mine. He always said that no home project is complete until you've made at least three trips to the store. Once for perhaps the mistake that, you know, something's not there or whatever. >> Like the manufacturer made, right? >> And then once at least for what you forgot, the first go around, right? >> Exactly, but the thing was, it was our day off, we weren't in a rush, and we enjoyed the time together, even when we were on our way back to the store. >> That's right, and so last Saturday night, we sat around with the music playing the fire, Mary Lynn built there in the pit. >> I do use that cheater stuff that I love, but we also grilled hot dogs, we grilled marshmallows, it was so relaxing and it was so nice. >> And all on our own patio out back. And so we literally had Backyard Bliss. Now, whenever I say that, Mary Lynn, I think of the song Ballroom Blitz, remember that? So in my head, it's just Backyard Bliss. >> Oh, great, thanks for putting that in my head. Well, coming up, we're gonna share, what's the point? Why are we talking about this today? >> Today, we're talking about creating a refuge in your own backyard, and what we did this past weekend was we caught up by slowing down a little bit, and we work at home a lot, feel very fortunate to be able to do that, and we work together so we see each other quite a bit. >> Yeah, I have friends who wonder why we don't rip each other's hair out. >> Well, maybe that's the problem, Mary Lynn, 'cause it is getting a little thin in the back, maybe when I'm sleeping. I wanna leave it all there. But we do spend a lot of time together, and when we are working, though, it's not necessarily together time, because we're both in our own zones, both doing what we do for big success, and so it's important for us to make sure that we actually have together time that's not associated with work. >> Yeah, and I wish I could say that we planned to do this, but we didn't. You know, we did realize that we really needed this, and so we're good at planning our work life, our business, sometimes I think we struggle a little bit with our personal life, planning that out, planning for the play. >> That's right, and now that we've got our fire pit, we've made it very easy to just walk out the back door on a Saturday night or a Friday and say, "Okay, let's relax." >> And you know, Mary Lynn, not long ago, we talked about, we did a camping trip, right? We said that it's important to get back to nature. Well, the interesting thing is, nature is in your own backyard, so the point is it doesn't have to be hard at all, doesn't have to be expensive, you don't even have to go anywhere. Turn your backyard into a refuge, just walk out the door, relax, and have some fun. >> And don't forget the bug spray. You can get a written summary of today's show on our site at BigSuccess.com. >> Next time, we'll talk about bad money decisions and bad times. >> Until then, here's to your Big Success. >> The Big Success Show at B-I-G-G Success.com.
