Welcome to The Big Success Show. Today, we'll talk about a place that's hard to beat for cheap entertainment. The Big Success Show with George and Mary Lynn. Ben Mary Lynn, I have to tell you, I'm almost embarrassed to admit how long it's been since I've been to the Public Library. Well, I'm with you there, George, and fortunately, we're here now and we're recording our show from the library. So be very, very quiet. So why do you think that, yeah, I know. Well, we found a nice little spot here in the coffee shop where we can be a little bit louder. And that's the first thing that surprised me, and I guess we should tell everybody we have a brand new library here in our hometown of Champaign or Banda, Illinois, and you can walk in and there's a coffee shop. Well, this whole thing is modern. This was a big, big renovation, and this is two stories. They've got rooms that you can rent for meetings, and then this big coffee shop with all of this seating here. And it's gorgeous. You're sitting here looking out at, you know, basically huge mirrors, huge glass, and I'm sorry, huge glass, windows. And maybe that's why it's huge. Anyway, you know, sitting here looking out at the garden, and it's just gorgeous. Yeah, this is wonderful. And we're kicking ourselves for not coming here sooner. But, you know, we were looking for fun things to do and inexpensive things to do. And why not come here to the library? That's right. It's a cool place to stay cool, among other things, right? Yeah. On summer's day, it's nice and fresh, you know, nice and cool in here. I think what else is really cool is just all the new modern things that are going on here. Like, when I came in, I had a book in mind that I wanted to try and find, and so I'm looking all over for the card catalog. Right. We went up to one of the ladies that was behind the desk and like, "Hey, where do we get information about books?" She's like, "Well, you just tell me. It's right here in the computer." So, yes, they definitely are modernized. They've got Wi-Fi, of course, and flat screen TVs when you first walk in, too. Right. Tell me about upcoming events and things like that. I kind of just wanted to sit there and watch. You're supposed to read. That's why we're here at the library. Well, speaking of reading, we actually checked out a few things. Yes, we did. We've got some books on CD here. We've got Brian Tracy's goals and the long tail from Chris Anderson. Yeah, that's awesome and I always wondered what Brian Tracy's goals were. We also got a great book called Instant Income by Janet Switzer and the price of all of these free. Zero dollars. We've already paid for it with our property taxes. Isn't that awesome? So, and we were asking them about DVD rentals and most of them are free. Some of them, there is a fee, but it's only like a dollar. A dollar for a week, I think they said. So, you know, especially in these times when we're all looking for ways to save some money and cut back here and there, man, just entertain yourself a little bit at the public library. And we've also decided that we're going to come here as an office away from the office when we want to get away. It's a great little escape. Now, there are some things that you shouldn't do at the library and we're going to share some of those with you next. Today, we've taken a little trip to the library and we've been sharing with you information about what we've learned about it and you know, man, then there's some real characters that hang out at the library and from that we've actually compiled a list and actually with the help of Waka.com. Six things you should not do at the library. While pointing to a very simple word like the, ask the person next to you if he or she could pronounce it for you. Yeah, that definitely would get some attention. Here's an excellent put down your book and kind of lean over and look at the person's book next to you. And then when he or she looks at you quickly, pick up your book and act like you're reading your own book. Here's another thing you can do or that you shouldn't do but you could do. Mm-hmm. Read your book upside down. Maybe that's what I've been doing wrong. Another thing you could do is flip the page loudly every two seconds or so. People think you're a speed reader. Another thing you shouldn't do. Announce the page number loudly each time you turn a page. That could get a little bit annoying unless you're in slowly like I do say. And the final thing you should not do at the library is break the silence by making a bodily function noise and I think we all know which one I'm talking about and then say wow that was a good one. We just got here we're gonna get kicked out. That's right. You can find that complete list of things you shouldn't do in a library on our site today at Big Success. That's big with 2g success dot com. That's also where we have a written summary of today's show and the link to the library we're at today. Next time we'll talk more about bad money decisions and bad times. Until then here's to your big success. The Big Success Show at B-I-G-G Success.com (gentle music)
