Welcome to The Big Success Show. Today, we'll discuss seven ways to tap into your creative side. The Big Success Show with George and Mary Lynn. There's a number of reasons why it's important to get into your creativity. One is, you are your own brand, and it's important to convey the image of your brand to the world, and looking at how things are designed helps you do that. And another reason that it's so important to tap into your creative side, it keeps you from burning out. Getting in touch with your inner self is so important. Absolutely, and so today, we'll discuss seven ways to do just that, to get into your creative side. And our first suggestion is to read a magazine. And there's a couple of things that you can really get out of magazines. First of all, pay attention to the design and the layout of the magazine that you're reading. And then second, pay attention to the words and the writing style. You might find some inspiration in that. Plus, maybe you don't have time to sit down and read a whole book, but you can certainly devour a story or two in a magazine. And number two, and Mary Lynn, I can't believe you made me say this one. I can't believe it, but number two is go shopping. Wow, check that out, a guy who promotes shopping. I wouldn't say I'm promoting it, but it does help you get in touch with your creative side. And here's what you're looking for, not spending money. What? You're looking at the packaging and how the retailer displays various products. With special deals, how do they show that it's a special deal? With new products, how are they featuring that product? What products do they group together? Where are these products located within their store? And what's the reason behind that? You can learn a lot by studying retailers and manufacturers with their packaging. And since you once ran a retail store, that's how you know all of this stuff, right? That's true. Our third suggestion, go to an art museum and really study the work. What is the artist saying? How does he or she convey it in a particular piece? What colors are they using? What textures are there? Really go deep in what you're looking at. And number four, first we had to go shopping, Mary Lynn. Yeah. Now, spend time with the kids. Oh, my God. You're like a woman's dream. I can't believe this. Kids have so much to offer us. When you can see the world through their eyes, you know, that little exploratory nature of theirs, it really helps you tap into your creative side. So spend a little bit of time with the kids this weekend. Number five, listen to some great music. What does it make you feel? If it's a song where you can understand the lyrics, how do the lyrics and the music fit together? If it's classical, you know, pay attention to the build-ups and the piece. If it's jazz, listen to those improvisational solos and the crispness of each note. And number six, first I went shopping, then I hung out with the kids. So now I'm ready to reward myself. I'm going to go to a really, really nice restaurant. Okay, that's fair. And look at how they display the food, how they show the items on the menu, the design of the place, and how the staff presents the entrees. You can learn a lot from restaurateurs. You know, and since we've been revealing your womanly side dish show. Thank you very much. I have to reveal that you are quite the chef for us here at Big Success, and that you will do creative dishes of your own. Well, I'll tell you what, Marilyn, I've already gone shopping and I've hung out with the kids. I don't have time for that now. Okay, you know what, and I talked about music. So coming up, how to put a different kind of instrument to use. Today, we're talking about seven ways to tap into your creative side. We've said it's important to do that because that's how you learn to promote brand you. It also helps you keep in touch with yourself so that you don't burn out. So far, we've mentioned six. What's the seventh, Marilyn? Number seven is sit down and write anything and everything that comes to mind. Now, I'm taking a page here from a fantastic book called The Artist's Way. And what you're doing here is getting in touch with yourself. So when you're writing, don't edit. Don't analyze, just write whatever is coming to mind, good or bad. And if you experience writer's block, go somewhere with a lot of activity. Write down what you see, what you hear, what you feel, what you smell. I find that getting beachfront is just fantastic because there's a lot of activity. I love the environment and it just helps me get in touch with the experience. And he's writing down, look at that guy in that funky speedo. Oh, that's me. You can get a written summary of today's show on our blog at BigSuccess.com. We also have a link to that book that I mentioned, The Artist's Way. And let's get our big quote for the day. Our big quote today comes from Arthur Kessler. And he said this, I love this quote, Marilyn. Creativity is a type of learning process where the teacher and pupil are located in the same individual. Hey, I think I can get a good grade in that class. I hope so. Think I'm the teacher's pet there. Next time, we'll discuss five places to find cash for your business today. And until then, here's to your big success. The Big Success Show at B-I-G-G Success.com. [BLANK_AUDIO]
