Welcome to the Big Success Show! Today we'll discuss how to fumble forward the big success show with George and Mary Lynn Well, Mary Lynn the Super Bowl is coming up. Oh, yeah And so we thought we should have a football theme today And we're going to talk about how to recover your fumbles and keep moving toward the end zone And perhaps the most famous fumble of all is called the Holy Roller Holy Roller, we wanted to play a clip of the broadcast, but we couldn't get clearance Yeah, so we're going to attempt a little recreation of our own of the broadcast from that day Picture this it's September 10, 1978 The Oakland Raiders are playing the San Diego Chargers The Raiders quarterback is Ken Stabler joined by running back Pete Banizak and tight end Dave Casper The Chargers linebacker Woodrow Low also makes an appearance in this recreation. So let's tune in Here we are 10 seconds left in the game the Chargers lead 20 to 14 The Raiders have the ball on what may be their last snap. They're on the Chargers 14 yard line Stabler takes the snap. He's dropping back to pass. Look out Kenny. Here comes low. He's putting the pressure on Stabler Stabler's going down. He's on the 24 yard line. Oh, but wait the ball is loosely spogled the ball It's rolling forward. It's a mad dash from the ball near the Chargers 12 yard line Banizak's trying to scoop it up. Oh, no, he lost his footy. No, he's from the ball Casper is trying to grab it. You can't get his hands on it. Oh, he picks it into the end zone No one has possession yet. Time is running out the ball is bouncing around. Casper is there. He jumps on the ball No, I'm not sure I'm a very colorful commentator. It's not that easy to do I have new admiration. I have to say not that I didn't have it before but now as Paul Harvey would say The rest of the story the Raiders went on to win. They kicked the extra point and it was good by that time There was no time and they won the game by fumbling forward, you know Whoever heard of winning a game with a fumble and that's so that's what we want to talk about today fumbling forward toward the end zone Toward your goals and it doesn't just happen in football. Yeah, and specifically we're talking about intelligent fumbling How do you fumble forward and we're going to talk about three ways to do that? The first way is to fumble fast Kenny Stabler saw the linebacker coming at him within seconds of the snap. He made a quick decision Fumble he confessed later that he did that on purpose to keep the play alive Yeah, and you're the quarterback of your life Sometimes your only play is the fumble admit that your trap you don't have a better answer But learn from it so that it doesn't happen again Key thing is when you learn from it. You fumble forward toward the end zone The second thing fumble cheap Stabler was faced with the situation the clock was running out the game would be over if he got sacked He didn't have anything to lose by fumbling. Yeah and learn from that test your ideas before going all out Set it up so that you won't lose anything or at least you won't lose much Minimize your downside so that you can keep fumbling forward toward the end zone Coming up one more play to keep you in the game Today we're talking about fumbling forward toward your goals. We've talked about fumbling fast and fumbling cheap Now we want to talk about fumbling often. Yeah, you've got to try and keep trying try new things Put a lot out there and accept fumbles as part of the game Yeah, you have to take risk in order to succeed and here's one thing we know if you take risk You're going to fumble risk leads to fumbling but fumbling leads to success The key thing is to minimize your downside risk so that you can keep fumbling forward toward the end zone It's like you're asking for punishment you can get a written summary of today's show at big success calm That's big with two G's and if you enjoyed today's show pass it to a friend Yeah, cuz we're counting on you for the blitz the Hail Mary Let's get a big quote for the day George our quote today comes from the author John W. Holt Jr And here's what he said if you're not making mistakes You're not taking risks and that means you're not going anywhere The key is to make mistakes faster than the competition so you have more chances to learn and win So go ahead fumble forward keep your eye on the end zone and the next thing you know You'll be popping the champagne bottles all right next time We're going to talk about how to be a terrible boss I don't think I've ever heard a show like that before well good tune in so you can learn how to drive your employees away Alright until then here's to your big success the big success show at B I G G success calm You you you you [BLANK_AUDIO] [BLANK_AUDIO]
