Welcome to our 13th big success show today. You'll learn how to build more self confidence the big success show with George and Mary Lynn On our last show we talked about how to stretch yourself anew and we gave you four questions to ask yourself So you could rediscover the joy in your life and today. We're gonna help a listener with her self confidence struggle We got an email from Beth and Beth is about to start her own business, which is a scary thing But what she says is she's got that little voice in her head that keeps pointing out what she doesn't know and the problem is It's paralyzing her progress and she wants us to help her get past this. You know Mary Lynn I guess it's a common problem and one of the things I tell her is first of all Congratulations, yes, and secondly welcome to the roller coaster and what I mean by that And I developed this theory about myself quite a few years ago as a business person and and entrepreneur Yeah, and finally I guess I got the courage to start asking other business owners the question and that is Do you sometimes feel like your highs are higher and your lows are lower? It's the sort of roller coaster so Beth get used to the roller coaster But we've got some ideas today on how to get past that and how to build up your self confidence Yeah, we've got four ways to help you beat that critical inner voice And the first one is kind of going back to our show from yesterday Mary Lynn Don't expect perfection and we talked about allowing yourself to be human so set achievable goals and For instance one thing that a lot of people feel like they don't know the financial side of the business Well, there's two ways you can do that one take a class read some books get to understand it yourself or Get some referrals find somebody who's really good at that and just team up with them Do what you do well and find others to help you and that way you can get started and just tackle it another way to beat that critical inner voice Rebut the cruel inner voice. Yes, you know Like but squared You know because that voice will say oh, but you don't know this and you can't do that and what are you thinking? Wait a minute tell that voice. Here's what I do know. Here's what I have done It's not true that I can't get this done. I can get it done So fight back don't let it take over and give yourself Constructive criticism, you know, what your weaknesses are you know, you'll find a solution for those weaknesses So focus on what you can do and what you know, you will do You know sounds a little bit like what we did on Thanksgiving and we were talking a little bit about giving thanks for How far you've come same kind of idea focus on what you know The next thing's kind of related to that when we really care about somebody, but yet maybe there's something we need to tell them Friends tell you what you need to hear everybody else knows what you want to hear We frame it in a way this that helps them get through it. So in other words, we don't bash them We encourage them but maybe point out something that they need to improve upon get in the habit of doing the same thing with yourself Don't don't criticize yourself. Don't get down on yourself Just because you didn't do something right. You don't know so just talk to yourself and say, okay This is where you're at now. Here's what you can do about it. So offer yourself suggestions There you go. Yeah, be your own best friend and finally meditate it takes time to train your brain to think differently so thinking positive thoughts every day Maybe taking a five-minute break when you're having a rough time and just think positively remember a time when you felt confident Remember a task you did where you felt confident and take in that feeling and one thing that I've learned to do I've read this somewhere at night when I go to bed I focus on three things that I did well. I think about those three things think about how I felt about them why they were good and It's good because it helps me go to sleep and I'm instead of counting sheep I'm counting my blessings and focus on what you can do is the point.
